Yes! This is exactly the take i have. When picking between headphones, you can EQ a little too your preference, but you can't change the physical fit, driver quality or style.

Another great review. My thoughts on sponsorships … I’m fine with them, especially if the sponsor is not from the manufacturer / provider of the item being reviewed. So, for a headphone review it can be sponsored by an DAC/AMP brand that you used to test the cans with, or by a cable brand etc. Same with DAC review, sponsor with a cable supplier.

Is it worth getting the mmx300 pro over this? Not too bothered about the mic but I think the MMX300 pro is tuned slightly different for gaming? Any opinions would be really appreciated 👍
You'll love certain things about it for sure! It just comes down to listening preference. Compared to the TYGR, these have much more impactful and dynamic bass. Vocals and mid range will sound recessed/stepped back compared to the TYGR, and treble will be more forward. I'd love to see/hear your thoughts on this after you get it and compare! Just drop a new comment when you can!
@@GadgetryTech ok they came in today and I really like them… I like them better than the TYGR 300R when I put them into the zen dac v2 with bass boost turned on. Upper treble didn’t bother me sooo I guess I really like the house sound of Beyerdynamic
As long as your opinion or review are unbiased which is generally lacking nowadays in media/journalism, I think having kick back links to support the channel is fine. As it will help you review more things and help us get your point of view of those items. Also, would love for you to review DT 1990 pro and DT 900 pro X , couldn’t find it on the channel. I love the comfort of this brand, would like your take on sound quality on those.
1990 Pro review is coming soon!! I only recently received beyerdynamic producs, so this is just the beginning! Once I'm done with all the units I received, I'll move on to the 900 Pro X after that!
I agree with others - a tough question! I trust your reviews, but I can't tell whether not having affiliate links in the description helped build that trust for me. It certainly didn't hurt and there's a reason you chose not to do that in the past. I'll watch either way though (because you already have my trust), and would use your affiliate links. I'm also a huge Pats fan. Shame on Kraft for trying to turn Belichick into a villain.
Dear GadgetryTech, I know you reviewed them both...I have a question about the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro X Limited Edition and the Audeze Maxwell. Which would you recommend for music, gaming and talking? (yes if it will be the Beyer, I will have to buy a seperate mic.) Wired or wireless is not an issue, I am just wondering which would be nicer/better. Hope to hear from you
I currently ordered the Schiit Gunnr after watching your review, im currently looking at the beyerdynamic 770 pro, FiiO Ft1 and the audeze maxwell. In your opinion sir, which would be the best bang for the back for open world games?
Hi, many thanks for your review. It's really great when you totally agree with a reviewers findings. Spot on about the high end which I do find a bit crispy. I'm not sure about the science about 'burning in' speakers, headphones etc or whether that is just us getting used to the sound. My DD70 Pro X's are so new that they are almost out of the box, so question is, how long have you been listening to them and could I expect my pair to mellow with use? I have and old pair of ATH-M70x (what is it with the X's?) and did'nt like them out of the box and now they are the best sounding closed headphones I have ever owned apart from the fact that they keep breaking structurally. For background I'm a 61 year old who's hearing has been nuked both at work and for pleasure but the strident high end is not that pleasing and adds nothing.........I suppose I'll have to wait and see?
Based on your consistent provision of honest reviews over time, it's evident that incorporating affiliate links could be beneficial for the channel. However, I suggest including non-affiliate links alongside them, allowing viewers to make purchases without any associated kickbacks. As demonstrated in this video, presenting both options fosters transparency and ensures unbiased recommendations. I concur with your stance on avoiding sponsored content, as it may compromise the integrity of your opinions by introducing external influences aimed at swaying reviewer perspectives.
I've been listening to these for a while today, and I think the only thing that I don't think I'm of the same opinion about is that I don't find these to be unresolving. I'm listening on an SMSL SU-8S/SH-8S stack, and I'm finding the detail and resolution to be really good. Better than I remember my DT 990 Pro being, but I don't have it here to compare. Detail-wise, it feels to me like it's competing pretty well with things I have in the $200-$300 range (HD6XX and Fiio FT3). I had another cheap closed back, the R7-DX from Hifiman that I think has maybe a little better soundstage, but the DT770 Pro X has better extension on the bass, and it's nice and clean. Punch Brothers version of "Another New World" at 2:45 when the bass plays a long drawn out note, it's nice and clean on the Beyerdynamic. Drivers seem pretty fast to me. Anyway, thanks for another detailed review. Have you considered including your source(s) on the videos? Might give a little perspective if there are differing opinions on the subjective side of things...
I don't mind affiliate links, I think I can get a good enough feeling of whether someone is honest in their reviews after watching a couple generally, in more particularly in your case, not being a new viewer, no problem at all.
Just want to give my input here on pad swapping, I have these same headphones hooked up through an interface with the Wicked Kushionz Freezer pads, it does change the sound quality slightly but not much, they get slightly more bass heavy but not too much, I find the change pleasant as I do like heavy bass but it's not distorting the sound in any way.
Hi, I would be interested to see a comparison between the new DT 770 Pro X and the old DT 770 Pro. I am a bit concerned about the new drivers here.... I owned the DT 700 X and think that sounded very flat and lifeless using the same drivers as the limited edition here. Comfort was also pretty much terrible. (small cups, heavy, headband... ) So if anyone knows how it goes sound-wise, please share. I still love my DT 770 pro. Thanks :)
I got them and I am blown away by the sound quality of these, not flat at all (nice V shape), very very precise, amazing bass and sub bass, It seems they won't even need EQ at all... It will be overall hard to beat at this price, even with open backs.
@@ragnharrow The bass is nice and big, but way too much for a headphone that was advertised as "studio monitors". I still have my old DT 770 Pros and it's a day and night difference IMO. I am glad you like it though. 👍
Keep loving them, I compared them (80 Ohms) with both the DT 700 Pro X and the DT 770 Pro X LE. Also found the DT 700 Pro X rather flat and a bit congested, lacking upper treble, and surprisingly upper bass as well. The DT 770 Pro X LE add back the upper treble and openness, but they also boost lower treble to an annoying extend. They also boost lower bass, don't fix the upper bass hole of the DT 700 Pro X, and have very recessed mids. They sit somewhere inbetween the DT 700 Pro X and the classic DT 770, but not in a good way but in a "might work for some, not for me" way. The classic DT 770 Pro are just perfect for me!
@@VeitLehmann Aren't those easy fixes, though? I plan on getting the DT 770 Pro X's soon, but from what I've heard, that's the only issue and it's easy to fix using an EQ.
Perhaps you can do an in video ad sponsor commercial instead youll likely earn more revenue then affiliate links and you could also use sponsors that are not related to audio but could possibly crossover into the market.
I think you further monetizing your channel would be a good thing given your track record of honesty. I have no concerns about the quality and accuracy of your work going forward as I know your integrity is not for sale.
I think it is ok to have links, once you said that you do receive some money back to support the channel, just to not create any misunderstanding to some people.
I would say personally, it would not matter to me if you have sponsored video as I have been a long-time follower of this channel, and I trust your opinion. However, I think in terms of the longevity of the channel, it would be easier for new followers to know that the specific video that is reviewing certain products is not being sponsored by the same company.
I don’t think affiliate links are a bad thing if you keep your current review style. It’s very in depth, there’s the objective measurements that you can’t argue with, and then there’s your subjective opinion on it. Every headphone will have pros and cons. If your review covers both and I deem the product still worth purchasing, I don’t see why it would be a bad thing for you to get a tiny bit from that. That said, have you seen the Turtle Beach open back headphones they just announced? Very curious to see how those will turn out.
The Maxwell has DSP so the tonality/frequency response is more agreeable out of the box. The DT 770 Pro X LE is better built and much more comfortable though.
Amazing review as always! I tried the regular DT 770 Pro about a year ago and have never initiated an Amazon return so quickly in my life lol. Like you said, I know sound is subjective and everyone hears things differently, but the treble was sooo sharp I honestly couldn't believe people enjoy using headphones with that kind of sound signature.
Absolute same case with the DT770 pro, it sounded like shit to me and i returned them within 24 hours, but these 770 pro X blown me away, better than closed back sundaras and really close to the maxwells. Really surprised by them.
I have been using these for the last week, I find them uncomfortable, from the ear cups being too large squeezing on my face and the top headband also pushing too much into the scalp. More importantly though I just can't get use to the faraway sound and the lost details in the mids.
@@I.AMWallzy I’ve kind of been all over for gaming. Partly due to testing so much stuff out. The A50X and Epos H6 Pro get used a lot. Runner ups are the Nova Pro Wireless and Maxwell
@GadgetryTech yea I have nova pro x wired with wicked cushions! Absolutely love them but always keen to try others. Potentially even iems. Anything worth changing to? Or just stick with the nova's you think? I've already had a50 4th gen
Hey, so I have the DT770 Pro 80ohms that I bought back in 2018, it's still good, but I have a question. Paired with an iFi Zen DAC, for gaming, the volume just isn't loud enough at low gain, and when I hit the high gain button, it distorts when I up the dial. It sounds okay on Spotify because it's louder, but in games it's much quieter, and the distortion is killing the experience that I'm rather sticking with my Kiwi Ears Melody and EM6l IEMs. Will an amp sort the issue or could there be something wrong with the headphones? To be clear, distortion only happens in high gain mode max volume on my Zen DAC and not on low gain.
I have exactly the same headphones as you. What you have to remember is the DT770 are single ended and the 80ohm has a sensitivity of 96db which makes them quite hard to drive. It sounds like your amplifier doesn't have enough power to drive them to their full potential. Options would be a more power amplifier or have your DT770's converted to balanced 🙏
I'm too sensitive in the high range, the edition xs fatigued me in the 8k-12k region I had to pull 3 db out to really listen to them. Unfortunate that they didn't consider the old dt770 pro drivers with the removable cable and updated materials. I like the old dt770 pro 80 ohms I have, I'm going to get a removable cable mod done to the tune of the original cost I paid for the cans themselves and to me that's more worth it than buying the newer pair.
Yep, I also prefer the old drivers by far. The new Pro X drivers are very efficient and easy to get loud. But they just don't sound as nice. I was also annoyed by the cable noise of the DT 770 Pro X LE that was transferred to the earcup because of the stiff, inflexible connection. I prefer the fixed cable that's properly acoustically decoupled. Good luck with the cable mod, I hope it doesn't cause any problems like this!
@@VeitLehmann in my experience with cables, it has a lot to do with the material on the cable as to whether it will have microphonic issues. Specifically cables with very course braiding will be very loud, but softer braiding is generally very silent. Also in my case, the rubber exterior of my dt770 cable has split and is barely hanging on so the cable mod is a way of saving the headphones
@@devontoner Ah, I see, makes sense. I guess there are multiple factors, because I recently compared the DT 770 Pro with the DT 700 Pro X and the DT 770 Pro X LE. The cables material is the same between those, but the DT 770 Pro had the least cable noise, the DT 770 Pro X LE had the most, and the DT 700 Pro X was somewhere in-between. So I guess the earcups play an important role as well. Did you do the mod already?
@@VeitLehmann not yet, I had a few other projects, I'm planning to do it soon. I have 2 pairs of headphones with 3.5mm ear cup connections so that's what I'm going to use so I can reuse a known good cable. As far as BD I only have the dt770 pro 80 ohm so I'm pretty in the dark of all the variations or what to compare too, I'm more of a planar fan, the dt770s were a work headphone for me before I bought a pair of focal elegias
Sorry, but you keep recommending open backs as an option for closed backs. That's like comparing a bear and a tiger. They are two different animals. An HD6XX and the DT770 are as different as you at a Biden rally and me working on my farm. We might be doing something but only one of us is getting something accomplished.
So long as you stay true to your opinion, there’s nothing wrong with working with sponsors/companies looking for honest reviews. The bills have to be paid somehow.
The treble on the DT 1990 can be fixed in two ways either a passive filter from diyaudioheaven (solderdude) or EQ at 7700Hz, -7dB, Q 3.0 (or Q 3.5) (with Analytical pads and ymmv you might want less reduction or more). I also find the Balanced pads too boomy for my taste, but some people might like it that way as well. I also own the DT 770 Pro 80Ohm, used it for a long time and next to the DT 1990 it barely gets playtime. But still that headphone is like an old friend and one of the best closed-backs (if not the best - some people probably prefer K361 or K371), and this anniversary edition looks nice as well - shares more similarities in tuning with the DT 770 line than the DT 700 Pro X (even though it uses the same driver as the 700 Pro X).
@@GadgetryTech Waiting for your thoughts on the DT 1990, from the comparison with the DT 770 Pro X I can guess that it’s going to be mostly positive except for the treble (which fortunately can be fixed).
You should do what feels right to you. You're never going to please everyone no matter what. What are some other tech channels that you respect doing? I wouldn't question your integrity either way.
If it helps, I have a Moondrop Venus with a Xduoo TA-22 tube DAC/AMP and it definitely tames sibilance and makes them warmer. I use a matched pair of Electro Harmonix tubes.
can something like dt 770 pro x LE be compared with logitech g pro x2 ? i cant decide what to buy for gaming/ work and music... i like bass and i m also kinda annoyed from very high bright treble
The DT 770 Pro sound much more natural and enjoyable to me. The DT 770 Pro X LE (and also the DT 700 Pro X) are easier to drive and get louder. But I can easily get the classic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms loud enough, and their better sound, tried and tested design, and cheaper price made the decision easy for me. Quick characteristics of the three: - DT 770 Pro X LE: V-shaped, recessed mids, very sharp treble, strong sub-bass, lacks a bit in upper bass, pretty airy and open character - DT 700 Pro X: Balanced frequency-response, great mids, lacks a bit in upper bass and upper treble, can still sound sharp in lower/mid treble, a little closed-in and congested - DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms (no idea how different they are compared to 32 and 250 Ohms): Balanced frequency-response with slight elevations in bass and treble, still present and detailed mids, not recessed, occasionally a little sharp treble (much less then the DT 770 Pro X LE, and if it does, it's in a less annoying region further up), better upper treble extension/air than both Pro X models, very airy and open character for a closed-back

I don't mind affiliate links, I think I can get a good enough feeling of whether someone is honest in their reviews after watching a couple generally, in more particularly in your case, not being a new viewer, no problem at all.
and how good are they for fps games like rainbow six siege and valorant?
thank you especially for the measurement.
How does this compare to the DT 1770 pro mkii for gaming?
Hey great video review. First time watching you and it's on my favorite headphones ever. Keep up then good work. 🤘
Just want to give my input here on pad swapping, I have these same headphones hooked up through an interface with the Wicked Kushionz Freezer pads, it does change the sound quality slightly but not much, they get slightly more bass heavy but not too much, I find the change pleasant as I do like heavy bass but it's not distorting the sound in any way.
affiliate links are good when it doesnt affect the review in any way
Which one is good for FPS like COD?
Hi,
I would be interested to see a comparison between the new DT 770 Pro X and the old DT 770 Pro. I am a bit concerned about the new drivers here....
I owned the DT 700 X and think that sounded very flat and lifeless using the same drivers as the limited edition here. Comfort was also pretty much terrible. (small cups, heavy, headband... )
So if anyone knows how it goes sound-wise, please share.
@@kutasimusic You still can EQ them to reduce the lows emphasis
Great review, can you share your EQ profile?
can you try the new turtle beatch 600 heatset?
Hey Joe, if we have different IEMs not listed on the Warzone tuning page, what would you recommend we use for an EQ in Equalizer APO?
I think you further monetizing your channel would be a good thing given your track record of honesty. I have no concerns about the quality and accuracy of your work going forward as I know your integrity is not for sale.
first 1 minute of the video = Subscribed ! 💪🏻🤘🏻🔥
Thought the TYGR 300 R are based on the DT 990 Pro, except they have slightly dampened treble.
they making you send it back ??
100% go with the affiliate link
How they sound compared to DT 770 Pro 250Ohm?
What is he saying by passive? Isn’t that a speaker term? Just wondering 😊
get your bag bro we wanna see you win
*SubD*
lurker deserved another sub!
Can you make a video on the quedelix 5k and how to use it on console for good footstep audio?
Nobody is talking about the insanly 90€ cable price for a simple Mini-XLR > USB-C cable.
How does compare to the Maxwell Ultraviolet Edition Gaming Headset? As far as marketing i dont mind helping out.
The Maxwell has DSP so the tonality/frequency response is more agreeable out of the box. The DT 770 Pro X LE is better built and much more comfortable though.
@@GadgetryTech Thank You so much i may give these a try thank you so much as always keep up the good work.
I got them both and I believe they are very close ! The 770 pro X has some planar "feeling" being so punchy, precised and so dynamic in lows
the old 770s and lg v50 phone ftw
Could you make a video about EQ on pc and android?
Link to the headphone stand?
Amazing review as always! I tried the regular DT 770 Pro about a year ago and have never initiated an Amazon return so quickly in my life lol. Like you said, I know sound is subjective and everyone hears things differently, but the treble was sooo sharp I honestly couldn't believe people enjoy using headphones with that kind of sound signature.
Absolute same case with the DT770 pro, it sounded like shit to me and i returned them within 24 hours, but these 770 pro X blown me away, better than closed back sundaras and really close to the maxwells. Really surprised by them.
Can u pls review and compare DT900 pro X? It is low ohm has the same driver as this one..
Is it good with go xlr ? About sound and system for music/gaming etc ?
I'm using it with a wave xlr and it seems to work well so I imagine a goxlr will work just fine
I have been using these for the last week, I find them uncomfortable, from the ear cups being too large squeezing on my face and the top headband also pushing too much into the scalp. More importantly though I just can't get use to the faraway sound and the lost details in the mids.
what about Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro?
where can i get the headphone stand from the video
Video idea: try some aftermarket pads (brainwavz, WC, etc.) to see if something tames the treble on these
this vs the fiio ft1?
Hey what's your daily atm?
Usually HD6XX and Caldera Open.
@GadgetryTech thanks for the reply. For gaming aswell?
We might be doing something but only one of us is getting something accomplished.
bro said he prefers the 3 times more expensive headphones too.. like duh more expensive headphones are going to be better.
I hope they make a dt 990 of this
Perfect headset for me 😊 i got them for 150 usd 😊
Thanks so much for sharing that info! I'm sure it will help others here as well!
How do you think this will do with a tube amp like the XDUOO TA20 Plus fed with a R2R DAC like the Denafrips Ares 2? would that tame sibilance ?
If it helps, I have a Moondrop Venus with a Xduoo TA-22 tube DAC/AMP and it definitely tames sibilance and makes them warmer. I use a matched pair of Electro Harmonix tubes.
can something like dt 770 pro x LE be compared with logitech g pro x2 ? i cant decide what to buy for gaming/ work and music... i like bass and i m also kinda annoyed from very high bright treble
are these headphones good for gaming?
all of them are good for gaming.
Put these on an OTL tube amp 🔥🔥🔥🔥
If I use these on a ps5 controller is there a way to still use a mic
Beyerdynamic keeps churning out V-shaped headphones and peeps still say that studio monitors are flat.
I think that you taking money from them is not a good or bad thing for us. If you stay truthful is what matters
100% staying truthful regardless. I may add the affiliate link but not sure yet. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Could you EQ 240 HZ up a bit
Truthfully, I trust Joe to do an honest review, regardless. Affiliate or not.
i need your help guys i am between dt 770 pro and this one dt 770 pro x LE ?
The DT 770 Pro sound much more natural and enjoyable to me. The DT 770 Pro X LE (and also the DT 700 Pro X) are easier to drive and get louder. But I can easily get the classic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms loud enough, and their better sound, tried and tested design, and cheaper price made the decision easy for me.
Quick characteristics of the three:
- DT 770 Pro X LE: V-shaped, recessed mids, very sharp treble, strong sub-bass, lacks a bit in upper bass, pretty airy and open character
- DT 700 Pro X: Balanced frequency-response, great mids, lacks a bit in upper bass and upper treble, can still sound sharp in lower/mid treble, a little closed-in and congested
- DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms (no idea how different they are compared to 32 and 250 Ohms): Balanced frequency-response with slight elevations in bass and treble, still present and detailed mids, not recessed, occasionally a little sharp treble (much less then the DT 770 Pro X LE, and if it does, it's in a less annoying region further up), better upper treble extension/air than both Pro X models, very airy and open character for a closed-back
As long as the review doesn’t change! Just don’t take VPN’s. Those are easy to sniff out.
