    hey. thanks for the comparison. I play bass guitar and would be using headphones for silent practice and recording bass guitar. you said the dip in the new 770 pro x can make bass guitar seem thin. that isn't ideal for me. what headphones would you suggest? Beyer dt770, audio technical M50x and sony mdr 7506 come up alot. Any others? Finding headphones is a headache lol

      Hey dude! Sorry for the late answer. To comment on your question:
      From the ones you mentioned I would definently go with the 770 Pro. Comfort alone is miles better than on the other two. I mean the 7506 is a tried and tested headphone in many studios because its cheaper and reliable, but soundwise and especially when its about bass extension and clarity the DT 770 is just a really good headphone and I would prefer it.
      Just to mention an alternative: The Shure SRH440A has a pretty nice frequency response that goes along the harman curve (so tastefully boosted bass and upper mids/treble with a good midrange). It is way more plasticky and not as comfortable as the 770 Pro, but its somewhat cheaper and pretty nice soundwise.

      @@absolutelyaverageaudioreviews no worries bud. really appreciate you opinion. Your videos are very detailed and I have found them useful.
      I check out the shure headphones you spoke about.
      I’ve since reviews stating that the 32 and 250ohms dt770 have a similar sound signature as they are constructed the same. The 80ohms is a completely different construction and different frequency response.

    These are the best wired headphones I ever purchased they sound great it’s the first pair of headphones I had that I felt it could handle my synthesiser at high volume but I did roll of some of the bass because I couldn’t handle it.😊

      Thank you too! And yes, the JT1 is a nice sounding (and absurdly comfortable) headphone. Absolutely not neutral, but if you like bass and can forgive some weirdness in the midrange its pretty good for costing 80€.

    Very informative and honest review. You can only find sponsored ones on YT from channels that got paid to praise Beyerdynamic.
    I was looking forward this Limited Edition, but got disappointed. Too much bass, too recessed and weird sounding midrange. Highs are okay, but soundstage is (more) narrow and the spacious-feel is not there any more. The built and fit is quite good though. That's the only thing that is better compared the old DT 770 Pro. (I have both.)

      Thank you! It is indeed my intend to be an alternative to all these advertisement-like reviews. So maybe you cannot watch my videos in 4k or have beautiful tracking shots which in my eyes look like I am trying to sell you something but at least you get an honest opinion and I always try to include everything thats important to talk about here, not just "it sounds good" haha. Opinions can differ of course, sound can be pretty subjective.
      And yeah I was also somewhat confused about the direction they wanted to go with the limited edition. I was hoping for an upgraded 770 Pro (less peaky and more refined in the treble, maybe a little bit more warmth in the midrange and just having the new driver in there), but now its like a DJ-headphone for people with hearing damage haha. Nah thats harsh, I kinda like it in its own way and its pretty capable, but just like you I did expect something different. I could live with the amount of bass (I mean, I like bass) and the more recessed midrange, but for me its the treble that is just too much after a while.

      That’s interesting you say DJ headphones because I had the same thoughts after spending some time with this Limited Edition. It does sound like the popular V-Moda M100 which also has very scooped mid-range with boomy bass. Some fashion model dj girls really like wearing it and pretend doing dj tricks. 😁
      Anyways, I am a big fan of the old DT 770 Pro and still shocked what Beyer did to them after these years and calling it as an anniversary...
      The new one is not a bad headphone, but far from what we call “studio monitoring”. The Beyer DT 700 X has a very flat sound that’s better suited IMO. (but still sounds weird probably because they all use the new stellar 45 driver)

    i wanna buy a closed back headphones, and i am not sure, if i should get the 770 pro x or the newly released sennheiser hd620 (for 350€...).
    i mean the answer is kinda obvious, if i prefer more focus to the midrange, i get the sennheiser, if i want more bass, i should get the 770 pro x. about the treble i am not sure..
    did you try 770 pro x with gaming? how is it with locating footsteps? and how sweaty does it get under the earcups after long time use?
    nice review btw

    • @absolutelyaverageaudioreviews

      Thanks dude!
      I will get the new 620s with release so I cannot really say alot here because I have not heard them, but it seems to be pretty good from the few things I have read. Just as you said, really different tuning (saw a graph of the 620s) in comparison to the 770 Pro X. 620s is more balanced and if you listen to stuff outside of electronic music, it will probably be the better choice.
      Treble will DEFINITELY be more on the 770 Pro X. If you are sensitive there and you want to listen to music you either have to eq or get sth different. The drivers are pretty capable though, so for gaming it is a solid choice. I did not game alot with it, but from the few sessions I did it worked quite well with audio cues. Also since the padding is Velour, I did not have any issues with sweat at all. If you do sweat you should clean it from time to time (bit of water and soap after taking them off). From the pictures and everything it looks like the 620s uses typical PU-leather, which does make you sweat way easier, but is also easier to clean. I do really like the Velour-Padding Beyerdynamic uses, really comfortable and does not bother you even when its summer and warm.

    Hi, thanks for the review.
    I'm new to studio headphones, but I do own a decent audio interface. Do the DT 770 Pro 250 ohm headphones sound different from the 80 ohm version?
    The main use will be gaming and consuming media, the price difference between 770 pro and pro x is around 50€. Also alot of reviewers say the sennheiser 560s are better, Which would you recommend?

    • @VeitLehmann
      @VeitLehmann 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You have to decide if you want to have open or closed headphones. Do you want to have the clearest and most even sound possible but hear everything from the outside? Is sound leakage not a problem? Then get open-backs. If you want sound isolation in both directions, or if you're looking for more energy in the bass at the expense of detail and clarity, then get closed-backs.
      The DT 770 80 Ohms should be a little more relaxed in the treble and probably a tiny bit more neutral in the bass, and a little less detailed compared to the 250 Ohms version. But it needs even more power to get loud, the 80 Ohms version is not a loud headphone already. But they sound awesome on my ears, and 80 Ohms easily get loud enough on a laptop headphone output. The 250 Ohms version need an amp, or at least a good external audio interface.
      The 700 Pro X are even more relaxed in the treble, cleaner in the mids, more pronounced in the bass, a little less detailed again, but should get much louder. The 770 Pro X have the sharpest treble, most recessed mids and most boosted bass while easily getting really loud as well. However, I only have experience with the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms. In general, Beyerdynamic closed-backs sound less closed-in and wider than most other brands.
      The Sennheiser 560s are fantastic open-back headphones with a very linear response, especially for the price. And they are pretty easy to drive as well. But I haven't heard them either. I have the DT 880 Edition, which should sound comparable, and I prefer them over the DT 770 Pro when listening to music. I use the DT 770 Pro mainly when practicing/recording bass guitar, or when I want to block out some noise from the outside.

    • @Raikas
      @Raikas 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @VeitLehmann Hey, thanks for the help! I couldn't resist and already ordered the DT 770 Pro 250 Ohm. I own a good studio interface rated for 600 Ohm, so powering them shouldn't be a problem. If I don't like them, I'll return them and try the open-backs i have no problems with sound leakage. I'm not a bass head, so I'm not considering the 700x. I like to listen to pop-rock, so I value the clarity of instruments like drums and guitar, as well as vocals. If neither of the open-backs satisfies me, I'll try the Sennheisers.

      @@Raikas Sound like a great fit, I hope you like them! However, every ear is different, so you have to try. For me, my DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms sound much more similar to my DT 880 Edition 600 Ohm (open-back, even if they're called semi-open) than to all the other closed-backs I have tried (Superlux HD 660 Pro and HD 662F, Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, AKG K-361 and K-182, and the t.bone HD 815). And I wanted something similar sounding, but closed and louder. I use them on a MOTU M4.

    Thank you for your review. I have dt770 pro 80 ohm, and had dt 700 pro X for 1 week (also have DT880 for like 12 years) and I believe that your review might be spot on. Stellar drivers used also in DT700 pro x, were too bass heavy (with not enough treble) for me so I think that DT770 Pro X may also end up bass heavy. I thought that Beyer could fix it in DT770 Pro X, but I would prefer more mids... not more bass and and even more treble than 770 pro.

    • @absolutelyaverageaudioreviews
      @absolutelyaverageaudioreviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah the 770 Pro X is the most bass heavy out of all the ones you mentioned. I never listened to the 700 Pro X (just looked at the response graph), but the 770 Pro X is way more V-Shaped and because they took out all the dampening and retuned it somewhat its so damn bright. It seems a bit difficult for Beyer to tune the treble region haha. I do really like the 900 Pro X (which has just the right amount of treble for me) and my old 880 Edition 250 Ohm that I sold a while ago and kinda miss a little. That one was a bit bright too, but never annoying or sibilant.
      I recently saw a post from Beyer on Instagram where they mentioned the differences regarding their new 770 Pro X and they clearly said it was their intention to boost the bass and treble frequencies to show a different side or combine the strengts of both the popular 770 tuning and the Pro X drivers. No Idea why they just would not make a more balanced closed back, I would really like a more midrange focused one with good bass extension.
      Maybe they wanted to make a DJ-Headphone where you do not need that much midrange haha.

      KZ PR2
      Hidizs MS 1 Galaxy
      And of course a lot of the newer stuff that I reviewed in the last months or stuff I will review in the near future. But a lot of it has to go again, I need the money more than a huge collection haha.

      @@absolutelyaverageaudioreviews Enough to keep it. Bass is a bit too boosted for my preferred listening and not of the highest quality. Sometimes I think it's a bit boomy. However, it's a fun headphone that I enjoyed listening to old school trance on.

    • @absolutelyaverageaudioreviews
      @absolutelyaverageaudioreviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah it really is a quite bassy headphone and can get somewhat boomy, I think I said so in the review that you basically can not emphasize the bass/midbass-punch this strong without it sounding just "too much" in certain areas and sacrificing some quality there. I did like that they thought about cutting out the upper bass so its less muddy and blurry than for example with other bass heavy tuned headphones, especially more consumer-oriented stuff.

    I had an old ATK headphone and it was falling apart. I bought the dt770 pro X and its has great separation, but for recording the lower end is too much. When I run my guitar through my effects processor, its sound is muddier, and distortion is not good. Which Byerdynamic is best for recording and a flat or natural sound?

    • @absolutelyaverageaudioreviews
      @absolutelyaverageaudioreviews  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you do not mind having an open back headphone, the DT 900 Pro X has a very good and more neutral sound. If you want a closed back, either the old DT770 Pro (best buy the 32 ohm or 80 ohm version so they wont need much power) or the new Sennheiser HD 620S. All of these are flatter than the 770 Pro X.
