    I needed this video bad. I was small, frail and timid in high school, making me the target of a lot of bullying and disrespect. Even years later I feel intimidated by assertive/aggressive guys to the point I will gravitate more towards hanging out with women, because it makes me feel more comfortable. I started going to the gym, but I think learning how to fight is the thing I need to get over being a coward, stand up for myself and regain my masculinity. Thanks for this insight man.

    When I first turned 18 and started going out, I noticed myself in some situations where I could’ve easily got in a fight. I’m the end nothing happened because I’ve always been a good speaker so would know how to defuse the situation. Now I look back and think, I should’ve backed myself more and told them to piss off and not back down. I broke my wrist January this year so am still recovering from the injury now, and am only just getting back into the gym. But as soon as I can, I’d like to start some form of combat as I feel it’ll give me confidence with everything in life. I’m now nearly 19.

    Spot on, even if you've done nothing wrong there will come a time you should know how to fight. Age 19 bunch of boys came and crashed a party a friend of mine was having, pulled his jumper over his head and started kicking the shit out of him basically, he'd done literally nothing to start a fight. Learning how to preoperly defend myself is defintely a priority for me in the next few years as I already go to the gym and love training and exercise. Even if you're the most passive person ever it can't hurt to know.

Haven’t fought since than and I feel like I have much less confidence in threatening situations even though I am a big guy. You are motivating me to start again I am going to sign up in the local mma gym and give it my all. Fighting really is so good for mental health and handling threatening situations, helps you to keep your calm and even solve problems with words and if not you are ready to throw hands. Thank you for motivating brother.

    Being comfortable with confrontation and being more disagreeable are traits that will not only aid your social and dating life, but also business and career goals. knowing that if worse comes to worse, you can always defend yourself gives you the foundation to develop them traits. Martial arts will not only give you competence in uneasy situations, but will also help you command more respect and in return become more successful. No brainer

    as an MMA practitioner myself, the message in your video resonates that through combat confidence is gained. But it can also breed a false sense of confidence, physical altercations are no joke and I don't think it's wise or responsible of you to essentially advise people to get into physical conflicts. At the end of the day it all comes down to ego, if you can avoid a fight I think you should definitely do so. What if the guy you knocked out in the story smacked his head on the way down and sustained serious injury? Or if he was salty about being embarrassed publicly and decided to catch you slipping with some of his boys and fuck you up? These are all real possibilities. Plus this was a story of you in uni, you're a grown man now, so the stakes are even higher. Is it worth fucking someone up because they disrespected you, then potentially getting arrested and ruining your career?
    As a martial artist I think it is your responsibility to actually remain calm and defuse situations. If you know you are truly capable of violence then you should be extremely selective about when you use it. I think the intention behind this video is very good, but young impressionable people will take it the wrong way and think they need to willingly engage in a physical altercation to improve their confidence.
    If you disagree with me then I get it, i'm just a nobody on the internet. But if you're interested go listen to a man called Jocko Willink's views on the matter, he's a literal trained killer and he will tell you to avoid combat all costs unless completely necessary.
    TL;DR
    Getting in a fights that can be avoided do not make you tough, it's actually a sign of a toxic ego and insecurity.
    Excellent video going over this topic, I advise all young men give it a watch: th-cam.com/video/Kba8PZwzS0Y/w-d-xo.html

      Very well said, Sir.
      Streetfights dont know rules. You go in confident, they pull a knife and youre done.
      They get a lucky knockout on you and stomp you until youre dead.
      Situations can always go wrong, so avoiding conflicts is the best method.

    • @tenpennycrypto7150
      @tenpennycrypto7150 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yep this is so true, i grew up in north london in a area that is notoriously dangerous for knife crime. If you walk down the street you could have teens half your size start talking shit to you because they want a altercation, multiple times ive been in these situations and even though i know could knock him out, all it takes is 1 reckless kid with nothing to lose and a 15 inch blade and its all over. Best advice is just ignore them completely, ignoring someone takes the power out of their words and makes them feel stupid, if they then start to be aggressive that is when you should defend yourself, NEVER let you ego to get the better of you.

    • @seanyshepfit
      @seanyshepfit ปีที่แล้ว

      100% agree. I watched that video with Jocko too. Andre Tate himself said you should know how to handle yourself but always walk away in a street encounter because they're never fair and violence is completely different from fighting. He himself says despite being a champion kickboxer, he would never fight anyone in the street unless they've charged him and he has no other choice. Great comment brother, I completely agree. The biggest shame is that you had to add TLDR, goes to show how bad the attention span is if people can't even read a short comment like this.

    Totally agree with this. Started training in Tae Kwon Do over 7 years ago and got my black belt last year. Once you hit the higher ranks we transition from focusing on Tae Kwon Do to MMA & Street Fighting. In street fighting, its anything goes and you can get hit, bruised, bitten, grabbed, scratched and we are literally not even allowed to say "ow" or anything like that or its pushups. Anything is fine as long as you don't cause lasting damage. I'm so glad I started because now I am fully confident in my ability to defend myself, even if it's against someone with a knife if necessary. Now I am able to command respect even from people who don't like me and my former bullies have left me alone for years. Now I get the opportunity to teach other kids how to defend themselves and I couldn't be more thankful.

    Even when you learn how to fight well, ALWAYS have a demeanor that makes you seem like a pious weakling. It reveals how people truly treat those they perceive as less as well as gives your opponent a false sense of confidence and domination. Use this to your advantage. It’s a psychological chess match. Mislead and misdirect them well before any violence begins and you already have the upper hand

    • @LukeNorther
      @LukeNorther 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No disrespect to you but I don't think that's necessary. You should not be peacocking by no means when you developed decent fighting skills but why would you act like a pious weakling for? How about just being the calmest guy in the room, not cocky, nor baiting people into thinking they could mess with you. I personally have been training boxing for a few months, which definitely gave me confidence to know that I can stand the ground if I have to, and I've been into situations where I'd have to pass by multiple guys in the evenings from the hood on the way back home, and they would scan me as I approach them but I'd never show any kind of weakness, nor break eye contact, but I wouldn't act cocky or aggressive either, just appearing as calm as I can, even a small nod to show a bit of a friendly gesture as I pass by them. And I haven't had any issues. But what you have described just seems unnecessary and as something that could lead to consequences.

    Ok. I finally saw this video. Maybe the most helpful video today. I never experienced that level of violence. When I got severely beat up they mostly just wanted to beat the shit out of my overly muscular abs as a 16 year old gymnast. I did have a moment of fear they would work on my face. But they told me upfront they just wanted to have fun pounding my "gymnast abs." I never faced the level of violence you did. I can see why you wanted to learn to defend yourself. Stupidly that idea didn't come to me at all. I just felt I wanted to build up my capacity to take hard punches. Only later did guys tell me to learn to fight. I flirted with Shane Fazen at FightTips TH-cam channel. But even there I was more interested in how to take punches more than how to throw punches. I think my life long passion for abdominal training just got me focused on building rock hard abs. I was praised for my ripped muscular abs from very young in gymnastics. Older gymnasts loved how well developed my abs were and I think I got stuck in a rut of how I was thinking of my training. I also learned I was very good at taking punches and that got me in a rut to become great at taking punches. About a year into my abs training I was very over confident in how well I could last. I started making easy money taking punches. I remember wrestler friends telling me never to go alone to do this so they came with me for protection. There were times when I was glad they were there. Some late nights at a camp ground some guys paid a lot of money and decided I hadn't earned it enough. They convinced us that I needed to let them throw more punches and they got overly aggressive. My friends had to stop it as I was somehow letting them continue. I remember us going back to our campsite and cleaning up. As we sat around the fire I think it hit me that had my friends not been there those guys might have beat the shit out of me like those guys did you. I was trying to make money to by a truck and there were times I let my body take too much when they would bring out more money. I still have that truck and I know how much it cost me physically. I've learned I'm a gymnast at heart and never got interested in learning to fight. But this video was really helpful. It would be fun maybe someday to meet you.

    Check this out bruv. I got left behind in the 10th grade, so I started hanging out with the “cool kids”. This was the only time I was actually getting invited to things, etc. But these were spoiled elite boys, and they didn’t like the fact that I was getting attention from their female friends.
    So to sum it all up, they set me up with this huge dude, son of the mayor of the city, they pretty much created a fake conflict. I was invited to one of these dude’s apartment, and the dude they set me up with started beating me up in front of a bunch of people. There were like 7-8 people there that night, I’ll never forget it. Nobody defended me, they just stood there.
    That was years ago, but thinking about my self development journey, it’s crucial to have this aggressive confidence. I could’ve defended myself that night, but I was totally vulnerable. So helpless. I’m gonna have to learn some martial arts then.

That being said is always very useful to know how to grapple as well as strike. Would recommend jui jitsu or judo, as in colder countries like England people normally wear coats which is basically a thick gi:)

    Two years ago I also went through a I guess a traumatising experience. I was on a bus with my friend. I'm kinda short, only 5'7 and he's a lot taller than me. Two drunk older guys went into the bus and they were pretty drunk. My friend made simple eye contact with one of them and one drunk guy randomly got hostile and straight up started throwing hands. On an instinct I immediately also started fighting to help my friend, but I had no experience in fighting. It all turned into 2v2 but I was too light and too short for it to be a fair fight. I was fucked up pretty badly(broken nose, concussion, blackeye, skull around the eye cracked a bit). After a year I started working out and 4 months ago I joing a kickboxing club, but the problem is that Its very uncomfortable for me to throw punches, I try to defend myself most of the time when sparring. I would really appriciate it if you could give me some advice on how to overcome and get rid of that mental barrier. I want to become a better fighter. I'm certain I will become 10x better at sparring just by overcoming that psychological barrier.
    Thank you.

      each spar you need to go in with a set plan, don't just go in go with the flow and 'fight'. You need to focus on a few key moves to learn. Not related to the video but can anyone suggest me some tips or methods on how to have a more masculine personality. I'm currently 16 on my summer holiday after GCSE and for most of my life in social interaction I've just always acted feminine. For a while I've been making firm progress as an individual, working on projects, getting a job, staying consistent with calisthenics and the gym as well as starting martial arts. I'm advancing in a more masculine lifestyle and have made substantial progress already. A problem that I've been trying to figure out for a few months now is gaining a masculine personality.
    I look 24 at 16, have a beard, imposing stature and seem masculine all until I open my mouth. My voice is high pitched but I can work around that, however my personality ESPECIALLY around women and girls, is that of a high school girl, my personality is an oxymoron to my appearance. I've been raised and conditioned by women my entire life and have never had any strong masculine role models around me often to be influenced by. I'm trying to undo the femininity and up the masculinity but the feminine personality is just subconscious and probably core to me at this point. I'm sure I can solve this overtime but any help to point me in the right direction would be MASSIVELY appreciated.

      Watch some old western movies, look up "actor Charles Bronson" and see his movies. You won't regret it and learn something. Clint Eastwood,Charles Bronson, and host of old era had lot of tough manly actors. Think about their principles and imbibe them.

    I also play football, so would you recommend learning to fight rather than going to the gym 3-4 times a week? I think I could do boxing once a week and go to the gym twice but I don’t know if that will be enough to still build muscle.👊

      Fighting 2 x + 3 x full body in gym is ideal
      Or 3 x full body + 1 fighting should be fine too

    I like your message about learning to defend yourself but your examples of how and why you should use it are really dangerous.
    The geezer in your gaff you should have just de-escalated it and walked off, imagine he fell and knocked his head and then you're sat in a cell for 10 years because you wanted to prove something to a drunken guy?
    You should definitely learn how to fight but not so that you can escalate situations like you did there, leads to people getting stabbed or killed. Learn to walk away having the confidence you did the smart thing and if you do need to defend yourself you know you can.
