    I was lucky with a father that pushed me into fighting competitive kickboxing matches. I had been training kickboxing for a few years but never competeted. When I was 14 my dad thought it was time that I stepped into the ring. I was scared and didn't want to, but never backed down thanks to my dad's support. The weeks before the fight were dreadful, but I won the fight and the feelings of winning that fight were worth it. Did a total of 5 fights before I went to university to focus on becoming a scientist. Again I faced a desire to quit and give up on the hard work. This time only the thought of making my father proud was enough to not only continue the struggle, but also start going to the gym to put on muscle (my father is a former bodybuilder), and last month I graduated from university.
    Although I am no longer training martial arts on a regular basis (sometimes I train recreationally), my past experiences with combat taught me to not back down from confrontations. Although I prefer resolving issues diplomatically, I have never backed down from some asshole threatening me or my friends/family. Every single time (except once), the readiness to fight them was enough to make bullies lose interest in trying to intimidate me.

    This is a very honest video. Our western society is seriously lacking in awareness of how to develop into a man. They dont teach it in school, (most of the teachers are women), and many kids are raised in single mother households. It is extremely vital that young men seek out older male role models for advice and guidence. Also a reminder that a Role Model is NOT someone who is commits crime and causing harm and distress to others in the name of trying to have a "hard man" reputation. Do not look to gangs for role models. Pick a hard working, well respected man with some life experience, and observe how they behave.

      @@MrRobertMacknaw it’s better to be the warrior in the garden rather than the gardener in war. Hey man, I've just watched the entire video and believe I am headed for the right path to becoming a man, I am engaged in the marine corps. and voluntary officers education and have been for an entire year and I'm only 16. This brings me way out of my comfort zone as I have to attend maneuvers on weekends during the months that I have school. I've even had a girl come up to me who I knew from the Marine Corps. and voluntary officers training and had her tell me that she loved me, I had to decline though as I cannot let love get in the way of working as a team. I have even done some summer camps within the Marine corps. and am set to join the military once I turn 18 and can take conscription. (I am from and live in Sweden btw).

    2 weeks ago I did a tour into the Amazon jungle. Our guide was a 30 year old indigenous man. His presence was so calm and I could feel that he was very competent. When I met him I saw the difference between him and the average "modern" man. He had 4 childs already and got them fairly early, knew how to navigate the jungle, was attacked by 3 pumas when he was 14 and killed one, he could hunt animals with his gun and kill fish with his speer that I didn't even see. He was patient, calm and always had a plan. Even his youngest, 18 year old brother hunted with his gun and I couldn't feel anything else then respect for these guys.

    Dont know if stoping getting support from your family is the best thing to do but sure you are correct with the mindset. In short to become a man you have to be selfaware and self-sufficient. And after that you can be a father which is to be support and awerness for otthers in basic form for your own kids.

    oh man so much wisdom in there. you hit all the right spots. through pick up and all that stuff men get a lot of bad advice and become toxic aholes because they think thats manly. A great book, I can recommend is: King, Warrior, Magician, Lover: Rediscovering the Archetypes of the Mature Masculine by Robert Moore

    Mate when your parents treats you horrible as a kid and you grow up with all this childhood trauma and mental illness it’s not even a option to blame them or not. Not everybody was spoon fed.
    Also some people go through crazy events as kids not to become a man, but to transcend the human experience as a whole. We’re not the same.

    I have to disagree with the last tip regarding leaving the home/country. You do not have to leave the country. That extremely resource intensive. It is a matter of choice whether or not you want to experience another culture/country. But other than that, i agree with every other points you made. Thanks for the video

    • @benjamincesar8880
      @benjamincesar8880 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but it does emerge you into a whole new setting where you have to make a name for yourself, learn cultures, travel, etc. you don’t have to, but you should.

      And honestly it is super important. Imagine living in your same town for the rest of your life. A man should leave the same familiar place, blaze his own trail, plant his own roots.
      Even though I’m just 17 I’ve traveled from my hometown across the state and it changed my life completely. I’ve moved from Florida to Brooklyn, NYC. Now I couldn’t imagine living in my old town for the rest of my life, my eyes have been opened to opportunity and culture that I wouldn’t have known in my old town.
