About 7 years ago, I slept in the rear of a laguna estate in the alps. As there was only two of us We dropped the rear seats, put in a double air mattress and inflated it in place. When we stopped, we chucked the luggage on the front seats. And had bbq out the back under the tail gate and a few beers, and a great nights sleep.
Estates are great, and I miss owing one now I have a Coupe. The Coupe wad a good idea at the time. But it does drive well.
Yeah, we traveled through France in a V70. Estates are actually just comfortable beds. Absolutely brilliant! ^^
@@AndorRadnai this was a blast form the past, back in a trusty estate again now. A 2018 Leon ST FR DSG.
Fun little estate, has got some go in her, however not the most comfy seats for a long hop.
I think the most comfortable front seats I've owned was in a 97 Rover 420sli, the 2004 laguna a dynamic a close second.

Stephen Butler Honestly, I have only got my license for about a year now, and I love estates. Comfortable, huge boot(y), and so on. If that’s what getting old means, then sign me up..! ^^

well, the original was conceived during Ford's ownership of the company. actually, to be honest with you, I find the original XF one of the most beautiful if not the most beautiful sedans of its era.

I love my XF, it's a great big family car while looking fantastic.
I make no illusions of it, the infotainment isn't up there with Mercedes but who cares... I've got a Jaguar. :)
I also have an XF and I LOVE IT - IT'S GORGEOUS FROM ANY ANGLE AND YES IT DOES HAVE THAT 'JAG' AIR OF 'ROGUEISHNESS' ABOUT IT. IT HAS REAL PRESENCE AND GETS ADMIRING LOOKS WHEREVER I DRIVE IT,BUT,MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL........................ "IT'S A JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH".
I wish estates/wagons were more popular in the US.

I live in Australia and wagons are really popular we just bought one of these jags before this we had Mercedes E class wagon and we have a Range Rover witch is kinda a wagon but more an Suv

Whilst not particularly comprehensive, this short piece does high-light just how cool big premium estates can be.Audi have always made lovely estates (avants) even when, 20 years ago, some estates looked grim. Jag have done a lovely job. Would not a version of premium estates with two occasional seats that disappeared into the floor be feasible? With their length, they could compete with SUVs. They could be more economical and prettier. They used to do these but they would be even better now.

I love the estate/wagon, and I love the fact that it is coming to the US market. however, I think it is a bad move that the starting price is $70K. They should offer an entry level engine at a more accessible price.

can I just say Bravo Jaguar all your cars to me personally are very pretty we just take a quick Glimpse back and let's say 2002 with all the cars that they had we're just Dowdy and reliability was basically equal to their looks and I just think that they finally found a look that is just incredible finally modern but yet elegant and I I know there are a lot of young people who are buying this Bravo I love the cars
The rear air suspension makes a lot of difference
Why do Americans hate wagon versions of sedans. It's nice we get the wagon MB E-Class but a wagon 5 Series or even a wagon Ford Fusion would be awesome for those needing practicality without driving a crossover. A diesel engine would be nice, too as long VW doesn't supply them.
I wish estates were an option in the Indian market....sadly it never has been....leaving the Skoda nobody bothered to bring estates and even skoda stopped selling those in 2007 in the Indian markets which really disappoints me

A shame that this Jag wasn't successful enough. Its successors are good but they ain't selling. Now, Jaguar motors got rid of the XJ flagship too. That's horrible.
I thought a wagon (in the US) is called a shooting brake in Europe. First time I've heard the term Sport Brake.
Iam Sam Brits call wagons estate cars, we Germans refer to them as Kombis…

That XF Saloon Was Actually An XE S Instead
No its an XF Sport, the chrome surrounds on the tailgate and rear lights are an easy give away the XE doesnt have these.
@@Chris2010H It's not a 'sport', they never made a 'sport'. It's a 'Portfolio' spec car with the more powerful 3.0D which is denoted by the 'S' badges... ;)

Pretty useless review, unless you and your mates want to drive around a test track. Nothing about what features it has and real world driving. Bring back the "original" Top Gear please🙏.

I don´t care about horsepower, lap times or performance, but for me biggest problem with this car is the looks, it doesn´t look anything like Jaguar, for me the 90´s XJ is the definition of Jaguar, and I even liked the S-type.
exactly. I miss that classic jaguar silhouette so much! you could spot a jaguar from a mile away looking at the shape. now it's all cookie cutter safe-play crap. make no mistake though, I have no problem with cookie cutter stuff but if I'm gonna buy one of those, I'd rather get a toyota, honda or hyundai. save bunch of cash that way and far more reliable.

You're being as biased as the reviewer, but this car is far superior to the 300c without a doubt, face it. If the 300c is average, then god bless America.
gobee if you've been in both you'll soon realize that they are the same in quality. Jag just adds a bit of cinematics to the user experience. (Rising air vents and such) They really aren't that different (mid sized rear drive luxury sedans with old underpinnings and cheap plastic interiors)
