This XF Sportbrake was launched mid 2017, the XE was launched late 2015, the new XF (X260) was launched around September 2015, the latest XJ version was launched in 2009 and has been tweaked twice, around 2014 and 2015.

I think your comment is spot on and I'm in complete agreement with you on the Volvo/Jag comparison. I sat in the Jag at the LA car show, and despite the fact that I love the exterior design, that's not where I am when I'm driving. The Volvo interior is lights out. The Merc is really nice as well with the Jag wagon in 3rd place. The Merc wagon even comes with the turbo V6 and it undercuts the Jag on price. Seems weird that the value lux wagon might actually be the Merc.

Technically Volvo and Mercedes never removed wagons from the USA. Volvo never stopped selling the XC70 in North America. Mercedes never stopped selling the E350 wagon and E55/E63 wagon.
So you statement of them bringing them back is bogus. That said I hope other manufactures start selling them beyond Jaguar. Mazda for example should bring back the Mazda 6 wagon.

Right off the bat, you say that the Jaguar XF Sportbreak has “class leading space.” That is a false accusation because the Subaru Outback has a maximum cargo space of 75.7ft cubed, and if some people don’t consider it a wagon, then the Buick (Opel) Regal TourX has 73.5ft cubes of cargo space. Now that’s class leading.

It's so weird in 2018 to here various folks going on about how much Americans hate wagons, when something like five brand new wagons were introduced in 2017 and 2018. Definitely on the rise, right alongside the CUVs.

Good job with the review. I love Jaguar vehicles. I am disappointed that this one doesn't make over 400+ horsepower. They should offer a V8. But overall it is a really great looking wagon. I would ultimately choose it just because it's a Jaguar but the price is a lot lol. .. Then again Porsche is offering a $180,000 wagon so maybe 80k isn't so bad LOL

95blckfirebird1 why do people in the the US are so crazy for cars with more than 400hp? You can not use the whole power anyway, legally!

    • @robertruehlmann3667
      @robertruehlmann3667 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@El Sordo don't get me wrong. I love to drive fast or a nice V8. My favourite Top Speed was in a Roadster with 245kmh / 152mph in a BMW Z4 with open roof.
Or 100kmh / 62 mph in an Army Truck from a hide out on to the airport as a machine gunner. To secure the airport in a training simulation with the US forces.
Also I love the Ram Trucks or Jaguar Cars as well. It seems for me that Jaguar are still and Saab have made very good cars.
However, 400+ Horsepower will not be able to be used without electronic restriction in the drive. Otherwise you will have very likely constant spinning wheels etc so it will be a tricky drive and very hard to control the power.

My biggest issue with all cars these days is all the techno-crap. I don't' need a vent that folds away or a gear selector that erects; hell, I still want actual buttons in my car, not an I-Pood. All that means to me is more expense and headache down the road for when those little modulators crap-out. I think most people who actually buy cars and not lease them would agree. That said, I'm still rolling in my 04 X-Type with a mere 165k miles on it.

    • @kiahweelee9994

Ryan Littleton Bought a brand new XF in 2016. Within weeks, problems started to surface. There were about 8 to 9 problems which include inability to register and retrieve address from the map system, blue screen for the center console, spoilt rear (reverse) camera, air conditioning not cold, moldy seat belt and multiple cabin rattling sounds. For each problem, I had to go to the service center 2 to 3 times to finally fix 1 problem. I also needed to leave the car for few days to a week on several occasions. It was a nightmare and this lasted for about 9 months. The worst were cabin rattling sounds. So difficult to detect the faults especially they were not consistent. I wanted to return the car but the dealer refused saying that it was not bad enough (e.g. not like the engine blown up). Drove me mad. Who on earth want to spend so much money to get oneself this type of torture. Till today, slightly more than 2 years, new rattling sound and squeaky brake surfaced. There is a market saying now, “You can’t spoil a Toyota and you can’t fix a Jaguar”. This is how bad the reputation of JLR is. I don’t understand why they don’t replace the CEO to a German or Japanese. This really tarnish the attitude and workmanship of British and Indian.

BRING BACK WAGONS!!! Better at “SUVing” than any crossover SUV/CUV...if you don’t need to do any serious off roading. If you need to light off-road driving, something like Volvos Cross-Country series (V60XC and V90XC), Audi (A4) Allroad, or Subaru Outback will do you just fine. If you need more off-road capabilities, a real body-on-frame vehicle will do you right. Your crossover will never hold up to something like a LandCrusier, G-Wagon, Tahoe , etc. And if were thinking “oh well a Range Rover is technically a crossover,” you’d be right. However, you little Rangies gonna break and leave you stranded. Moral of the story? Buy wagons, America!

I don't understand why their spare has to be that ugly as Sin orange rim...??? The first time I got a flat in my 2010 XF upon opening up the trunk to get the spare I gasped. It's hideous, the design is terrible and it just screams look at me I have a tiny donut on my expensive ass Jaguar. The designer actually had to make a conscious decision to make it that color, so so strange and unacceptable especially for this brand new Jag that bases for 70k ridiculous

Just like most every other vehicle, it's about image and what it says about you. This one says "I have money and want some utility but want something more unique and better handling than an SUV or crossover".

Presentation was fine, but I'm not a fan of this type review. Looks rather amateurish. The hand held shots, sound, video quality and filming location (a back ally or something?) disappoint (on 65" 4K TV, where I watch these). I am used to more, on this channel and others.
I also don't understand the problem of having two ways to do climate control. Aren't there more cars that have that option? Besides, how many times does one control climate anyway that require going into the computer? Because I see buttons for most controls. Also worth mentioning that wasn't is that the Volvo comes with a turbo four, not a supercharged six. Though I'd probably go for the Volvo myself.

The Missing Link's Younger Brother actually here in the U.S. it is considered quite bad. A 340i for example achieved 21 in the city and 31 on the highway. It still has over 300 hp and is much more efficient overall. And the big brother 540i series achieves 21 and 30 respectively.

Mi amigo, in the real world you wont get those numbers, thats some toyota camry numbers. Unless you will always go 50- 55 mph on the 70 speed limit highway, and drive like a grandma in the city..:D

maniac32145 Mi amigo! I’m glad you could give me your input because you’re absolutely wrong! I have extensive time driving both of these vehicles and can say they return over their original promise. I even drove a 330i that’s guaranteed for 24 and 34. I returned over 30 in the city and actually achieved 42 on the highway traveling 74 mph the entire journey. BMW does a great job with their twin scroll turbos.

Ohhhhhhhhh, I see they still REFUSE to build a proper V6 engine, still using that heavy ass V8 block with 2 CAPPED cylinders. Bravo. Cheap bastards.
Sweet ride tho. Wagons are the shit. Handling of a car and somewhat the versatility of a crossover.
Sloping roof lines, automotive first world problems . . . I hate it too. Trying to make a utilitarian vehicle all sporty and shit while ruining visibility. Pffftt.
AUDI needs to get that broom stick out of their asses and bring all the Avant versions to the USA.
