Which one do you prefer, the old XE or the new XE Project 8?
I prefer the popmobile for the grand tour video game.
The new xe is amazing!
After 2 million miles of harsh riding vehicles where you can feel every pebble under the tires and every road imperfection, at this point, I prefer a nice, smooth ride, so I'd take the original XE.

I hate the new format. They are great 1 or 2 a season but not everyone and only 2 or 3 a year. Last one was crap as was the one before that.

One of the best pieces of car journalism here, the Jeremy we love shining through the seriousness of telling us the stats and information of the jaaaag. Still to this day when I get asked why I bought one I just tell them to watch this episode.

I respect Jaguar for still using superchargers. I don’t know for how much longer, but until then, we’re lucky. I don’t know if many people have experience driving supercharged motors but let me tell you, it’s a a completely inefficient, fuel guzzling riot 😂
In fact, the latest bunch of F-Types are surprisingly frugal for their size - someone I know did a 187 mile journey at an average speed of 61mph and got 32.4mpg. In an F-Type SVR! A similar journey in a 300PS 4-pot F-Type returned 37.4 mpg. Of course, drive 'em like you stole 'em and you will drop the fuel gauge pretty quickly. :-)
I have a 2015 XF with the supercharged 5.0 and I can get 30mpg on the freeway between 70-80mph. But yeah, drop the go pedal into the carpet and she gets real thirsty real quick!
same here with my 3 liter V6 supercharged XE, highways and she'll save me money, but put the foot down and money flies out of my exhaust pipes
Yep, it's the cool factor aswell; the things that you just cannot and really shouldn't be replacing in cars.
Yes, the electrics do 0-60 in 1.2seconds, or 0.02 whatever it is now - but anything below 5 is still heck of fast really. And there's 0 soul and sensation without the noise so the electrics are on a mission to literally nothing.
Doesn’t lag like a turbo. I drive an XF (V6). Depends upon how you drive. My car has given me a terrible mileage of 8-12 miles per gallon (US) when I was revving it really hard. However, when I drive it on eco mode on highway……and trust me….I usually drive it at 80-90 miles per hour; I was fortunate enough to get 25-28 miles per gallon. Which is insane for an XF

I was pretty much wowed as soon as I looked at the XE.... The Supercharged V6 sounds sooo good. Along with that comes the design... The Old one looked stunning already, and the new one just looks even better... All in all, its a hell of a masterpiece
Great transition animation on the differences between cars. Makes you appreciate the effort, the team on the Project8 has done.
That's one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen!
It's when you hear a supercharged V8, or a naturally aspirated Ferrari V12 that makes you think although electric cars are the future of daily drivers, they cannot stop car manufacturers from making combustion engines for magnificent cars likes this! Even though it's a select few that get to drive them I still love to see and hear them revving to the red line!
E-fuel is the answer. E85 with E-fuel is a cheap option.
The Project 8 is one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever seen. 💙
This is one of those few cars that comes out every other year and shakes up the entire car industry. Super exciting. Reminds me of how excited I was when the Focus RS came out. Although I cant buy em yet haha

I love my Jag XE, it just feels like it has everything you need built into it. The speed, comfort, space etc is all there!
I prefer the new one. That aggressive look makes it even more beautiful.

I have had a xj with 510 ps for 5 years and I now have xjr with 551 ps....beautiful cars and no problems. Both over 100.000 km. Elegant and fast......

Great car, I have the f Pace SVR which is also blisteringly quick, SUV practicality with 0-60 in 3.8 seconds. Same engine and transmission, and pretty good handling. I love it.
Those are dope man. There’s a used one by me selling for $70,000

@@farmsquatter625 No, but driving with the window down the other day I heard some people I know say "Here comes the Jaaaag". My last car was an XJ which I had for twenty years. At age 66 I seem to have gone from what was judged to be an old man's car to what is a bit of an insane boy racer car. The thing is, put it in eco mode and its a pretty smooth ride. But even in eco mode, floor it and all hell breaks loose.

Some amazing cinematography as typical of Top Gear. Dynamically showing the changes from one car to the other was brilliant. Other car reviewers need to take note on that!

I recently picked up a Jag XE 35t, and that alone is quite quick. This thing would just be an absolute monster.

It's terrifyingly amazing when Jaguar makes a fast car.They make sure it's the absolute fast car you can buy that performs better and is faster than any car that's more expensive with similar specs

@@yourvault1612 well it's a sedan just like them in it's own taste but it's the cheapest brand of a jag you can buy and they modified it like this.I guess the goal was to create a sleeper cause that's what you do with very cheap cars when u mod them

Can you imagine what you can get for that price that is way better, yes you can get a sedan like m5, E63, S63, rs6, RS7 for litterally $50k-$60k less and the thing is all those cars I listed are so much better litterally in every way especially the interior compared to this jaguar project 8… for way less... This is insanity lol. They’ll never sell these.

I took a project 8 for a test drive. Was amazing but I had just gotten the M5 F90 so decided against it. Was truly awesome though.
Lads, I just got myself a 2017 Jag XE 20d (diesel). Loving it so far! When are you Britons bringing more diesel Jag sedans to the US of A ;)

God I’ll miss the noise of combustion cars when electric takes over
I used to think that, then I owned EVs, 5 years now .... nope, don't miss it at all, massive, instant torque and just massive grunt more than make up for the lack of sound.
Combustion engines are going nowhere. You will see that in upcoming decades.
Synthetic fuels are also being researched on and they are very clean too with minimal or no emissions at all..
Hope so combustion engines stay around till end of times. Nothing beats their sound. Not even instant torque. 💪
@@johnborgum6451 Refrigerators used to fuel powered too at some point and they said the same thing about electrification. But since we only have a few key players in automobile industry and they all seem to be gearing towards electric cars - it’s inevitable that combustion engines would get replaced or becomes like an enthusiast’s purchase. Volkswagen already announced plans to go fully electric by 2035
@Minute Man have to agree with him. I have my loud weekend toys but if I had to go all electric I don't think I'd miss it too much. Have a model 3 as a daily and it does things I wish my gas cars could do. Power delivery is just perfect.

Me and all car lovers will always will support any automotive project that turns the dial up to 11 and tells accounting to get tossed! Hat tip to Jag. Love to see this one a modern V8 vanquish to make a off the charts new XKE baby, maybe even front wheel drive electric.
I was excited, for a minute. It was new in 2017, when the film was made - but (at time of typing) it's 4 years old. I wait in hope that a new XE comes out.

Jag's always sound nice. Or at least SVR (or w/e the division is called) Jags do.
Special Vehicle Operations. The symbol/logo looks like an SV, with the O being the circle around the 2 letters margined slightly to the left. Then the Red R is on the right side, just about halfway outside the circle. But Yes, we call them an SVR. Technically it should be an SVOR, but that got kinda weird to say. I love mine, ( 2018 F-Type Convertible SVR, Victory Blue, with all the carbon fiber I could upgrade. She has the Titanium-Inconnel Exhaust, too, which makes her really growl.)
I like it. Wish they'd reconsider offering the XE in the US. Very nice and practical automobile.
If you can, get a 35T while they're still around. I have one and will be hanging on to it as long as I can, because there isn't a replacement Jag I'd buy.
Yeah, they have them. I picked up a 2017 XE for less than $16k!
Its like a Giulia GTAm from Jaguar. About same price as well. Good competition so it seems. Impressive car.

I have a ‘17 XE R Sport with the 20’ propellor wheels. It is a beautiful, fast, fun car, and you cannot beat the Jaguar CPO Program. I cannot believe these did not sell better in the US

Had my Xe RSport for 3 years, got it 2nd hand 2016 model and I love it, I smirk when I see Audi and BMW drivers as I know they paid more for a worse car. Grabbing a new one in 2024 just before cars become obsolete and turn into soulless computers.

@@jonniea6601 Well I now have the new shape the 2020 Reims and it's great, however I do think the interior of the 2019 model is better. But they are both way better looking than the competition and the drive is outstanding, the way the chasis handles for such a big car is amazing. Jaguar for all electric in 2025 so it's going to be your last chance to get one soon, am going to order a new one just before they go full electric.

Jaaags are so much nicer to drive than the all look the same across the range German cars. More refined and individual. Could be the reason I am now on my sixth Jaaag, a delightful XJ Portfolio.
This car is nothing compared to an M5 or an RS7. Absolutely nothing.

I love the modern-day Jags, the XF and the XE, but I wouldn't spend 150,000 pounds on one no matter how fast it was. Also, that must be a very bumpy piece of road Clarkson is driving on because he is bouncing around all over the place in those shots from within the cabin. I'd love a Jag but just give me a 5.0 litre supercharged XF, that'll do me.

As much as I liked Jags, think this was a stupid move from the company. No M3 equivalent, but then you put out one that's 4x the cost of a normal XE? Should've made one without the carbon ceramic brakes, the stupid looking wing, a tuned up V6 with the wider body and sold at a cheaper price.
Yep. Also, the V8 does fit, because the V6 is the same damn block casting, just with the rear pair of cylinders blanked off! An £80k XE-R with RWD and 500bhp would have been great.
Man I love the XE I need one they have them packaged out Sunroof Audio 2.0t or 3.0l Supercharged I need it then put the XE-R rims on one
