I came for the how to, stayed for the comedy!
Its obvious you guys are professional and know your stuff. It takes a certain type of person to put the comic spin on things. Just GENIUS!!

I have always wanted to do something like this for years and years. I am 62 now and your video made me go for it. No problems at all and I was 100% successful. You made it happen! I finally saved my self some money vs the dreaded shop repair. Great work man and thank you so much. It was fun too. Keep it up! 😁

Absolutely, best teaching video I have ever seen! It is so important that you show clear, close views AND explain and explain the purpose of each part. Now, I think I will be able to get my year-old lawn mower started. Mistakenly stored it last fall with gas still in it.

I just bought a used mower with one of these carbs, so I've been watching a few videos on them. This is the best of the bunch. None of the others have mentioned the ball in the main jet that can be removed.

This is the ONLY video I have ever seen that shows the correct way to disassemble and clean one of those plastic carburetors. Most don’t remove the white jet body and I’ve never seen anybody take the white jet body apart. Great job Taryl. and thanks for showing how it should be done.

Dear Taryl, After many successful uses of carbitrator spray, fixing 2 Briggs mowers today I bought at auction--I was able to get the starting fluid right in my eye. I did not know the old joke that I SHOULD HAVE SEEN IT COMING. It stung just like you said it would, and I wear prescription glasses. I was 3 for 3 today because you are a great video making teacher and comedian!

2 years old and still helping people! The carbs have become even more plasic here in 2020. The air filters are a little different and the whole rig is 2 screws fewer... The float pin is now a plastic part with a rubber tip. It also slots into the float itself before reseating into the bowl. I skipped through the fluff straight towards the part I needed to see. That being said you had an exceptionally thorough explanation and patience to allow for proper camera angles inside the Carburtraitor (

Just wanted to say, This video helped me fix a Crapsman push mower( mine had the primer button) that ran fine last summer, wouldnt start this year. I took it apart before watching your video, and thought i had cleaned everything, still wouldnt start unless i sprayed starting fluid in ( then it would run and die in seconds). well first time i didnt take that little silver ball out, it looked clean and i still sprayed some carb cleaner. sure enough take it apart again after watching this video something was stuck in that exact place Taryl mentions as a common spot. Thanks for my dinner!!!

Never ceases to amaze me, how many new carb designs these small engine makers can come up with. Wish they'd stick with the old tried and true designs don't you? The old B&S tank mounted carb is one such example. It was a good design, easy to clean and reliable. But they have to keep fixing what ain't broke to begin with. Planned obsolescence I suppose. Another great video Taryl and crew!

Taryl. Love your vids, man. I watch them all the time on my internet screen. On this vid, I would like to suggest a helpful tip. At 15:20, when the screw is being driven into plastic, turn the screwdriver backwards, until you feel the screw "drop in" to the already cut threads, then drive 'er home. You'll reduce the risk of cutting new threads (weakening the existing threads) and striping out the screwhole! Thanks for the tour of this carb. Never seen one before. Keep the vids and comedy a-comin!

Silly question I know...I just don't want to screw anything up before I embark on this project. I own the orange mower exact same make and model...What EXACTLY is the type of spray used on the carburetor? I have two different kinds currently. One Is the motor medic thrust starting fluid and the other is come out jet spray carb/choke in parts cleaner. I noticed on the gum out brand it says cleans all unpainted metal parts so I'm assuming i shouldn't use that one? I noticed you had something in a red can...could you share what that was? Or give me the exact brand and label title to use? Everything else is was perfect so Throw and easy to follow my 15 year old daughter is able to do this period but we are hesitant as far as the carburetor spray.... I have liked and subscribed to your channel and shared this with everyone in my family!

Great camera angles, thanks for getting close and being specific.. I was able to clean mine and put it back together. One other issue I'm having is, when it's running I can only cut for about 4 minutes when I notice I start to lose power and it smokes a little. Any idea what that could be? Once I let it cool down and sit, I can crank it back up no problem. But again, few minutes of mowing and it slowly starts to die and lose power.

Taryl, you recommend 93 octane fuel but some folks want to argue to only use 89 octane. I have used 89 octane with sta-bil for all my equipment for 20+ years with zero problems.....is there a big difference?

Worked great. Although I didn't find any gunk, just greasy water. Grabbed some bad gas from an old tank by mistake. I first tried flushing the tank. It still ran 5 or 10 seconds and stalled. everything worked just as described for my carbur'tater'.
