@@EliminatorPerformance I couldn't agree more about this detailed instruction video being thorough & complete. Great job and thank you! However, once I finished cleaning the parts well & dried I had an issue while re-assembling the carburetor, specifically the small bowl drain plug & that small O - Ring that seats inside the bowl drain plug. I found out the hard way how it can get pinched & rip when turning the plug with the hex tool. I used 3in1 Oil on the O - Ring, but it was a little stretched/worn & didn't want to sink into the groove when attempting the 1/4 turn required for it to seal properly & the little tabs on the plug that grip the tabs of the inside end of the hole cracked, rendering the plug itself useless as well as it's o-ring. Man... I searched and searched to find the exact repair video to fix my BlackMax EXI 725 for days... and finally found yours...THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CREATING THIS VIDEO BROTHER 👍🏾
I have a DR trimmer with a Briggs & Stratton 6.75 engine. Couldn’t get it to start. It would fire with starting fluid and then stop so I guessed I had a fuel problem. At 82 I wasn’t sure I was up to tackling a carburetor clean out never having ventured inside an engine before but watching your excellent video convinced me to give it a try. I watched a dozen videos and must tell you yours is absolutely the clearest step by step complete explanation with excellent video! You even showed how to remove the engine cover which none of the other videos thought to include. I was about ready to break it off after removing the 2 bolts. I knew you were a premier TH-cam instructor when you took the time to list the part number for the o-ring around the top of the fuel jets assembly which might become damaged during take apart. The gold at the end of the rainbow was when my B & S started and ran perfectly on the first pull. I appreciate the time you take to make such an excellent, detailed how-to video. I bought a Snapper mower from Walmart it has the B&S 725EXI engine. I used it one whole season, then emptied the gas tank and put it away for winter. Got it out the following spring , filled it with gas, pulled on the cord and it would NOT start. Replaced the spark plug then the air filter. STILL NO DICE. Threw my hands up in the air and put it back in the garage, used the old mower I had on stand by since I knew it worked. Flash forward 3 seasons I see this video and the one about the choke system design flaw, I drag out the mower and apply everything you have in these two videos, pull on the cord and away she goes like a champ!!! DUDE!! YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the world. I was already going to wheel it out to alley for spring cleaning, NOW I can use it till the cows come home.
Nice tip on trimming the choke lever! Many seem to hate these plastic carbs, but I love 'em. Consider the simplicity, ease of service, entire jet system pops right out, and NO CORROSION, EVER! Depending on the equipment, you can even do the clean and not even remove it from the engine. Excellent vid as always.
Thanks for the comment about being able to remove the jet system assembly without actually removing the carburetor. That is specifically what I was wondering about. So I thank you very much for that.
I have the exact same Yard Works lawnmower with the Briggs and Stratton engine that is featured in your video. The mower would start and then die. I googled for info on that model with a plastic carburetor and viewed your video. You saved me a repair bill and the possibility of having to purchase a new mower. Thank you.
This may be the best 'how-to' repair video I've seen. Solid, friendly advice with a good pace, excellent close-ups, and simple steps. It includes re-assembly details and gotchas that others often gloss over. I followed step-by-step, pausing the video as I went. The only issue in my repair was due to my ignorance. I sent the lawnmower blade out for sharpening and tried to start the mower without it. OUCH! The kickback from the pull cord almost yanked my hand off my arm at the wrist! Apparently, this motor uses the blade as flywheel weight and kicks back with a vengeance without it. Thanks again for the quality video!
Absolutely one of the best most detailed how to videos I’ve seen. Attention to detail and clear and concise instructions. I’ve cleaned numerous dirt bikes, and quad carburetors over the years but never a plastic one. You made it very easy to take care of my problem. I have a Husqvarna 3100 power washer which was made by Briggs & Stratton that wouldn’t start and I’ve heard that you just throw the plastic carburetors away and buy a new one. Not the case. Thanks for all your help.
I could not ask for a more complete tutorial. The last time this happened, after taking out the carb, I just bought another for 20 bucks. They probably cost a lot more now. I also installed a fuel filter and fuel cut off valve back then, so I won't need to pinch off the line. Thanks to you I am going to clean the carb this time and I appreciate your help and well done on its production. The metal carbs on the old briggs seemed to last for more than a decade without fouling.
Want to say thank you. My Snapper mower with this B&S engine would not perform. Followed the tutorial and the filing down of the lever for the choke fixed everything. Followed what the video said - removed the tank and carburetor. Cleaned everything with carburetor cleaner and blew out everything with my compressor. The mower runs like it is brand new again. I want to thank you for an easy to follow video for cleaner the carburetor. Thank you.
Big thanks mate. Just got my mother inlaws victa vantage with the 125cc briggs and stratton. She didnt want to start. Just watched your video. In the process of putting it all back together! Thankyou and wish me luck hahahaha
All done and dusted. Didn't want to run without hitting the primer bulb every 10 seconds. Re traced my steps and I didn't fit the carby to block seal and seal clip (small plastic ring) now she's running, I think the idler spring (don't know its name) is stretched and is causing it to rev erratically. Thankyou again
You saved me..mower died after about 10 minutes into a one hour now. Local engine store didn't have this carb. Followed your instructions and was back in business. One thing I didn't have was the hex bolt for the bowl so I just hoped it was fairly clean. Running like new! You saved me tons of time and some money! Thank you!
My Troy Built mower with the same Briggs and Stratton engine/carburetor wouldn't start after sitting all winter. I've never messed with small engines or carburetors, but I found this video and it seemed easy enough. Followed it exactly, took apart the carb, cleaned up the fuel tank and fuel line - which is where the problem was. My screen at the bottom of the fuel tank was gunked up with old gas and when filled with water nothing flowed out. Anyways, learned a lot from this video and it solved my problem and saved me a bunch of money too. Thanks!
You saved me from buying a new mower man! I followed your video step by step and after reassembly it started on the first pull! Great instructive video! I have subscribed and liked tour channel!
Thanks for the video, i just removed the carburator and cleaned it with brake cleaner . It was full with oil. I missed your video so i didnt cleaned the jets in distributor. Will do it again. Thanks to your instructions. Just a message to youtubers, in my case the previos owner had about 1/2 a liter of extra oil that caused to run into the carburater when placed in shed upright.
I just used your video to take the carburetor off of my lawnmower and your instructions were perfect. Tomorrow I’ll put it back together and hope it starts.
Rebuild based on the first two videos didn't work. This one was much more thorough. I rebuilt based on the steps here and she started on the first pull. Great video! Thank you!
I always try to blow/wash off the engine before working on it. Great Fix. I run a bunch of short metal screws with hex heads into worn tread on drive wheel.
I watched your video and had the carb cleaned and mower running in about a half hour! It was blocked in one of the tubes. Thanks for taking the time to post your vids.
Thank you so much for sharing. My lawnmower has been sitting for 2yrs. Can't afford lawn service anymore. So been trying to get it running for a month. An found your channel. Hadn't tried cleaning the carburetor. Didn't know how really. Prefect. First pull after your instruction. Happy days. 😊
There’s ton of wontabe mechanic on utube But you are the real mechanic and the rest are a waste of time Thank You’ll for information and great videos we can learn from
This is the best DIY video that I have used. The steps were laid out in a logical manner. The tips given were very useful. My mower runs like new. Thank you.
You are THE BEST teacher! I watched several videos on B&S carb rebuilds and this one is the best by far! Thank you, my lawnmower is running like new!! :-D
Excellent video describing cleaning B&S plastic carburetor. I successfully cleaned one on a B&S 675, but this video showed more detail by further disassembled the jet assembly.
Beautiful. Instructions were perfect. I went from wanting to throw the mower out, to starting it first pull once the steps were completed. Thanks again.
Thank you for this step by step video. I had never done this before and I was able to clean the carburetor and get my lawn mower running again. Great job putting this video together.
Very informative. Step by small step. Perfect for someone like myself who's never worked on a carburetor before. Excellent approach and instruction. Thanks.
Just fix my neighbor's lawnmower equipped with plastic carburetor through 3 videos l viewed today . Your's are the most informative, thanks However, do simplify some procedures, since the interiors are pretty clean after opening it up, just pop the cartridge up ( using those sewing package needles and tool from Dollar Store) clear slightly enlarge the main jet, mouth blow to ensure all holes are unplug ... Reinstall accordingly ! One pull started and stay on repeatedly, Self satisfaction 😅hank
This video was frickin fantastic I like the way you somehow was able to follow your work and you did not sit and talk about b.s. I noticed a lot of people make videos just like to ramble and here themselves talk, kind of like when we were younger and called a radio station to hear ourselves the DJ would always tells us to turn ur radio down !! Anyway I will gladly watch any video that you produce I enjoyed listening to someone that knew what they were doing and not just winging it! Thank you sir.
Best video on how to clean the carburetor on the net. Managed to get a smooth running engine after following your extremely simple and clear instructions. Thank you and well done!
Thanks. I have a Swisher string trimmer with a Briggs and Stratton 675 EFI engine, and found this video helpful in figuring out how to remove the carb so I could de-gunk it. The only differences from what was shown in the video was that the screws holding the engine cover on has a #20 Torx head, and I found it easier to reconnect the engine breather to the air filter housing prior to reinstalling the engine cover. Great instructions.
Hey man, just wanted to add that you do a great job with your videos- have helped me out on several occasions- always concise and very helpful. Big thanks from a Georgia boy
Excellent vid bro...the only thing I would suggest to everyone is to not use a flat head to pry out that white plastic jet as it can damage the plastic around it and the seal as stated. You can push from the inside of the cab where the distribution tube comes up, then u can gently remove from the under..that hole where you push that tube down must be lined up before re installation... Lovely detailed vid bro!
Excellent video -- loaded with info, concise, and excellent views of the parts. Today I started a carb clean on my 725exi and stopped to see if I could find some info on TH-cam. I'm sure glad I found your video - it has saved me from making a mistake or two. Thanks!
Thanks, most people tell you just to replace the carburetor if it's plastic, who knew it's so simple to clean easier than the metal ones I think, I have 2 carbs like this, cleaned both after watching this no problem.
Hi I just want to thank you so much for sharing your knowledge I followed your instructions step by step and me who’s not a mechanic and wow !! after assembling the carb , installation filled it half way just one pull and it started my wife was so happy Thank you
EXCELLENT video! Thanks very much for posting. I have a Craftsman mower with one of these cranky plastic carbs. Your video is just what I needed to fix my mower and put it back into action.
Thank you for the very good description of what I need to do to fix the engine on my step-daughter's lawnmower. I am a true newbie when it comes to fixing mechanical things, but you did such a fine job of telling and showing me what to do that I feel confident that I can do the job.
From the detailed, thorough step-by-step explanation to the excellent camera work, one of the best videos I've seen! Thanks for your time and effort! I hope this helps me out! I'm working on a lawnmower that inadvertently had gas poured into the oil spout, and then run for a while. I've changed the oil twice, and it is up and running. Gas is getting into the piston after it sits for a while, however, and also leaks out of the carb inlet right behind the air filter. May be the rings, but a good carb cleaning is a small first step!
Leaking Needle valve causes fuel to flood from the carb into the intake, which goes into the cylinder and past the piston rings to dilute the oil. Common issue. Replace the needle valve and change the oil twice.
@@EliminatorPerformance Followed your steps to a tee, and the machine started right up! Changed the oil twice, and adjusted the valves. Hopefully, it will give them many more years of service from the mower!
Thank you for this amazing video. It gave me confident to open and clean my machine and its running now. There was two places I got stuck but was able to resolve it. 1. Opening cover at 2:22 mark - The Torque screw: I could not figure out the screw type as my mower has dust in it but listening to your video again and again then picked up whats a Torque screw. That helped. 2. When I take off Float and needle valve at 7: 15 - The needle valve was in the cup and I did not know where that came from. figure out by the shape and put that point part in and the intend part in the top where there is a space to put that in.
Excellent video, my mower was "surging", I didn't find anything obvious like the chunks in the video but after cleaning the carburetor, cleaning the tank and using new non-ethanol gas the mower works great, thanks.
Very well done. Clear and concise. I have this exact engine on a power washer, only one year old. Couldn’t keep it running. Decided to follow your carb cleanup - gel fuel was exactly where you mentioned. Reassembled , started first pull. Thank you for the video.
My neighbor has this carb on his Snapper and he isn't very good at working on much of anything. So he brings it to me and the first thing I noticed was the choke spring was missing. Before I do what you just did is this a part that is easily accessible or one of those, you have to buy the entire carb or find a donor carb. Thanks man great detailed video which will make this job super easy! A part # for that spring would suffice also.
I try to keep my lawnmower in top condition and store it over the winter by running it dry, but even then it still requires a manual carb clean before the first mow of the season with fresh fuel. Thanks for the tips and advice
Try to buy a can of engineered fuel, like VP or Kinetix, even Aspen fuel, run mower dry, add half a can, start and run for a minute and then shut off and store. It'll start next year almost guaranteed!
Your video saved my day. My mower works lime a charm now. If anyone is facin the « start-then-stall » issue, this is the solution. A tip is, I used my bike pump to blow air in it as I don’t have a compressor.
This was an excellent tutorial for for this problem. I had never cleaned out my own carb before and was not sure about the project, or if this was the cause of my problem. I fallowed this video step by step (drained but did not remove tank) and the lawnmower is running better than new. I recommend watching the video right to the end first, then go back and go step by step. It was very helpful putting it back together. A few things to look out for. Loved this video. I'm sure you saved me at least $150.00 where we live. Thank you!
Great video! One thing to be wary of when using compressed air to clean the white main jet cassette is that it is possible to dislodge the other brass jet insert. Not the one that sits in the fuel in the float bowl but the other one. This happened to me but luckily I saw it fly out and found it!
Hello, great video. I've been doing small engine repair for about 5 years now, for a little extra cash and therapeutic reasons (some thing about fixing this little engines). 95% of the time I can get them working just fine by cleaning the carb just as you described, but on a rare occasion after fully cleaning the carb it will still not work properly. I've discovered that the ones that won't work have something in common, looking at the carb body from below (9:30), the hole on the left on a good working carb, blows out the hole at the front intake left inner hole (can actually see the routing on the outside of the carb). The ones that just refuse to work right, do not have this holes connected, my thought was that it's obstructed but I'm not so sure anymore. It's driven me crazy trying to find out what actually goes bad with these carbs, I've ordered re pop new ones when this happens, taken them apart a lo and behold the holes mentioned are connected. I disected one to see the obstruction but it seemed that it was built that way, so it got me wondering what I'm missing. They are anywhere from $9-$30 online so its not worth spending too much time on the issue, but it bugs me to have 10 of these laying around that just won't work after a thorough cleaning. I've fixed hundreds of lawn mowers, pressure washers, edgers and anything using this Briggs engine with the plastic carb. You got any idea what happens with this plastic carbs when a cleaning won't get them working right?
Excellent advice, thank you, will try doing it myself, it's true, this model design is very prone to gas crystalizing, because of the jet always submerged in gas, even after only 5 months of sitting in storage
This is the exact same engine and the exact same problem I'm having! You won't BELIEVE how much extra work I did for no reason, lol. Gonna give this a try in the morning, let u know how it goes...thanks for the video!
@@EliminatorPerformance 🥳 100% Success! I can't tell you how helpful your vid was. I tore it down, cleaned it and reinstalled it JUST LIKE YOU DID. TBH, I'm almost surprised at how well things went. Appreciate you Sir! 🙏🏾🤝🏾
Thanks so much! I had that annoying surging issue and your detailed video helped me to try cleaning a carb for the first time ever. Success!! I look forward to your help in the future. I really like how you point out steps or tricks that prevent future issues or damage during disassembly or re-assembly. I appreciate the help.
Great video, thank you! FWIW - I recently found out that you can pop the plastic choke arm off the carb and leave the linkage attached... At 9:30 in the video, showing the oval housing of the top of the carbs bowl area. I am unable to clear the passage on the left even though I can run a wire into it from both directions, the top of the bowl area and from the hole on the side of the venturi, assuming that's where it comes out??? Is that where that passage goes or is it blocked off on purpose? Thank you very much!
Excellent instructions and easy to follow your detailed approach. Only issue I had was reinstalling the main jet housing. Could not get it pressed in. Looked in the bowl and saw a sleeve was blocking the center port. With a small piece of wire I pushed it out of the port and everything snapped into position. Thanks for your excellent work.
Yes I forgot to mention that part, if you bump the carburetor or move it at a certain angle, the tube that it presses into can shift. Thanks for watching!
Very detailed, excellent. Thanks for showing how to get the top off. You can buy these carbs. for $10. The same carb has three #: 596505 or 597327 or 594058
Excellent video ! Thanks for not reminding me that gasoline is flammable! I got as far as the distribution tube. Now I'll pull it apart again and do that. Years ago, carbs were metal and gas had lead and there never seemed to be problems. Thank you for this very thorough article !!
You just saved me whatever the cost of a service would have been.. I wasn’t confident that it wound do the trick but it started literally first pull of the chord.. thanks so much.
Glad to hear you're back up and running Adam. If you don't mind, consider leaving me a Google review? Most of my customers are older and don't use computers much, so I'm trying to boost my reviews. Thanks for watching!
Hey man great tutorial! I have a power washer with this engine. I was worried I'd break the main jet distribution assembly and your video helped me confidently remove it from the plastic housing. I may have gotten it without the vid, but I also may have broken it cursing the whole time hahaha. I fixed my engine using only some carb cleaner spraying the jets which were plugged due to E10 gas left over winter. I ended up watching the entire video. Just want to let you know that I like your commentary and editing. This is the first video of yours I've watched. You have a way of including all the pertinent detail that's condensed yet understandable. You're a great mentor thanks!
Absolutely the information I needed and then some. Great video, well presented with no wasted bull-pucky. Thanks for the parts info also. Now back to the mower!
Thanks for the video, I have a similar mower with the same briggs & stratton 625 series engine and this video helped me a lot. when it ignited it started to crack
Great video, I reassembled and started it up right away! Only one issue though, fuel ends up coming out of air filter after use, not sure what’s wrong?
Excellent video. I have the same B & S 725 series 163cc mower with the plastic carburetor so now I can clean the jet to get fuel to flow properly. I took it apart once to clean it and didn't know that the white plastic jet assembly comes out to clean the other intake ports inside it so I only got about 15 minutes of run time before it stalled out and wouldn't stay running (starts and then shuts down in 2 seconds). Thank you.

I watched your video and had the carb cleaned and mower running in about a half hour! It was blocked in one of the tubes. Thanks for taking the time to post your vids.
Thanks for watching!
Happy days. 😊
Thanks for watching Dana!
Helped me get my mower running again and avoided a trip to the repair shop! Thanks for the detailed video!
There’s ton of wontabe mechanic on utube
But you are the real mechanic and the rest are a waste of time
Thank You’ll for information and great videos we can learn from
Thanks
This is the best DIY video that I have used. The steps were laid out in a logical manner. The tips given were very useful. My mower runs like new. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Very good video regarding B&S plastic carburetor. I haven't seen the step-by-step teardown and repair done so clearly anywhere else.
You are THE BEST teacher! I watched several videos on B&S carb rebuilds and this one is the best by far! Thank you, my lawnmower is running like new!! :-D
Thanks for watching!
Yes he gets straight to the point
Excellent video describing cleaning B&S plastic carburetor. I successfully cleaned one on a B&S 675, but this video showed more detail by further disassembled the jet assembly.
Beautiful. Instructions were perfect. I went from wanting to throw the mower out, to starting it first pull once the steps were completed. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching!
This is the definition of *clean*. Everything is like brand new
Yes, this is the best video I have seen on repairing a carb. THANK YOU!
Your's are the most informative, thanks
However, do simplify some procedures, since the interiors are pretty clean after opening it up, just pop the cartridge up ( using those sewing package needles and tool from Dollar Store) clear slightly enlarge the main jet, mouth blow to ensure all holes are unplug ... Reinstall accordingly !
One pull started and stay on repeatedly,
Self satisfaction 😅hank
Thanks for watching!
Very detailed compared to other videos. Thank you my lawn mower started right up after sitting for over a year.
Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
My lawnmower started after following this guide! Thank you!
Thanks, most people tell you just to replace the carburetor if it's plastic, who knew it's so simple to clean easier than the metal ones I think, I have 2 carbs like this, cleaned both after watching this no problem.
Thanks! Followed every step and the mower started up on the first pull. No doubt this saved me a bunch of trial and error.
This couldn't have been a better tutorial. I was able to complete the work on my B&S 725exi in about an hour, and it works like a champ now. Thanks!
Hi I just want to thank you so much for sharing your knowledge I followed your instructions step by step and me who’s not a mechanic and wow !! after assembling the carb , installation filled it half way just one pull and it started my wife was so happy
Thank you
EXCELLENT video!
Thanks for the kind words, and good luck on the mower, thanks for watching!
Great video. Now this is how you make a video, he shows how to take it apart in detail and how to put it back together in detail, great work.
@@EliminatorPerformance I'll do it today! Thanks, so much!
Best video on this subject I've seen. Just cleaned my carb for the 3rd time, needed to be reminded of the steps. Very well done.
Thank you!
Hands down the best Briggs video out there
Great video! You might want to mention to be careful with the float needle. Has a rubber tip that can come off and it’s hard to find!
Used this vid as a guide yesterday. Mower feels brand new. Thank you!
Thanks for the breakdown. “Problematic” brass port on bottom on main injector tree was it!
THANK YOU for the outstanding video! Saved me having to pay someone to fix my DR walk behind weed eater. Absolutely excellent "how to" video!
I’ve watched a few videos on this and have to say yours has been the best. Thank you.
Thank you. I have two mowers that start and won't stay running. I like your video.
Thanks for the step-by-step. Just picked up a non-starting Husqvarna 725AWDHQ today. Hope this cleaning solves the problem.
Don't forget to check out the auto choke design flaw video I did
Great video! One thing to be wary of when using compressed air to clean the white main jet cassette is that it is possible to dislodge the other brass jet insert. Not the one that sits in the fuel in the float bowl but the other one. This happened to me but luckily I saw it fly out and found it!
Thank you so much! Lawn mower is up and running thanks to your video!
Thanks for watching, good luck!
Might want to check out this video too: th-cam.com/video/9GSM0TnprNE/w-d-xo.html
@@EliminatorPerformance got it! Let u know how it goes...🤞🏾
Thanks for watching, glad it helped!
Good video
My craftsman platinum 7.25 hp lawnmower wouldn’t start.
Went through my carburetor,
It fire right up.
Wish I had come across this video a week ago.. Best review I've seen! Now, to do it over.
Thanks!
Excellent video! I might be brave enough to try to clean the carburetor now. Thanks!
Thanks!
Thank for the support!
Very detailed, excellent. Thanks for showing how to get the top off.
You can buy these carbs. for $10. The same carb has three #: 596505 or 597327 or 594058
Beat lawnmower fix video. Thank you so much for the detailed video.
Glad it helped!
Excellent video ! Thanks for not reminding me that gasoline is flammable! I got as far as the distribution tube. Now I'll pull it apart again and do that. Years ago, carbs were metal and gas had lead and there never seemed to be problems. Thank you for this very thorough article !!
Thanks for watching!
Detailed and great explanation! I followed your steps on my 675exi series and my lawn mower is up and running now! Thank you for this awesome video!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great video, my BNS mower started right up after sitting for 5 months
This was great! I got the motor running in about 10minutes after watching your video. Thanks 👍
Thanks for watching!
This helped me a ton. Scored a free 2019 craftsman pressure washer with the same carb and now it’s good to go. Thanks for the detailed video!
Absolutely the information I needed and then some. Great video, well presented with no wasted bull-pucky. Thanks for the parts info also. Now back to the mower!
Great job of detailing the cleaning process! You saved my day, thanks.
Thank you for sharing. I can say that your explanation and recording are fiest class. Thank you again.
Great job explaining and recording how to clean a plastic carburetor.
Thanks for watching!
Cool! I had been cleaning them with torch tip cleaners and fresh gas. Thanks man!!! I'm old school.
Thanks for the video, I have a similar mower with the same briggs & stratton 625 series engine and this video helped me a lot. when it ignited it started to crack
Thanks for the great video - fixed my surging mower issue now running like a dream 👍
Good stuff as always. I'm an experienced mechanic but I really like your videos for stuff I have not seen before
Great video, I reassembled and started it up right away! Only one issue though, fuel ends up coming out of air filter after use, not sure what’s wrong?
Check to make sure the needle valve is sealing properly, and check your oil too, make sure no fuel went into the engine!
Thank you.
Check out my video on Briggs plastic carb design flaw! Make sure your mower isn't affected!
Thanks very much on the detailed video, sorted out my carby issue no problem - cheers!
