Nice job! Good you have a costumer for this. I have 10 ports in stock for a half year now.. Nobody likes to have it replaced. They all choose to charge wireless when the USB-c burns

My S10+ is here, nobody wants to fix it.. All of the repair stores tell me to send it back to Samsung, instead of performing the replacement by themselves..

Very poor design from Samsung. Had to send in my s10+ for usb c problems.

Like me you could use more flux and just ultrasonic it after. Just only dunk the port in for a minute. Like a nintendo switch too I would have also tinned the teeth on the port to ensure them grabbing

Are you using hot air to remove the old usb port, aswell as hot air and soldering paste to connect the new one?

I am sort of surprised that he never once mentions the microphone while recording this. I would prefer not to have to replace a microphone as well as a charge port. If you are doing this repair then you should definitely cover that microphone up with a piece of kapton to prevent alcohol + flux from ruining the component.

    • @warlockd

I have the thing appart on my desk. The microphone port is connected with a ribbon cable and very easy to replace. Kind of wish this thing was on a ribbon cable

how does the port detect moisture?

    • @vinwentmissing

@@vinwentmissing In my case, I charged it through wireless charger for about a month. But I kept trying to use cable. It accidently works sometimes. I transferred file at that time. But after around a month or two, problem went away on its own. Although, after some times, it re-occurs and again goes away on its own.

Easy if you have the $1200 in equipment, materials, and a lot more worth of experience. Then consider all the damage that can be done just disassembling the phone itself. I'm more worried that I wouldn't even get the board out without ruining the display.

    • @radcowdisease
      @radcowdisease 3 ปีที่แล้ว

The part itself can be found on ebay for anywhere between a few cents to like $10. I went with one I found for $7 bc it was in the US already and had the correct numbers on it. No idea how much someone would charge to do it.

  • @Jeepin_Joel

Can you just replace the entire thing you're holding? Seems like it would be easier that way.

    • @RELLIK72

If you have a s10 and have broken the port already you don't deserve to own this phone lol .... i think we will see a few of these with broken traces also like the A5 good job Mark to check them i just plug it in and check the ammeter to see if it pulls boot current

@@refusetolose05 I bought a used one but was still in plastic and the seller said it was basically never used as he got a company phone and just had this laying around. It worked the first 2 times charging but then I got the "moist detected" error. Thought it was a little wet so I tried the day after and seemed fixed, but it keeps coming back even though the port is clean and dry and the cable too. Original charger + cable. Tried all the software fixes as rebooting in safe mode, clear cache on the usb app and clear cache before booting. Most of the time the "moist detected" error is not showing, but then it's normal "cable charging" instead of "fast charging".
Could that be a faulty port as well?
