They still haven't fixed the blurry dashboard issue. ;-)
It seems to go blurry when riding under 50 mph.

Or the issue where you turn off the TC and the dash rides up and smacks you in the face when you open the throttle hard.
Strangely the display was clearly legible in the reflection in the windscreen.

Nice one chaps - coincidentally I rode the RR Sport (with the non carbon wheels) today for the first time from Bahnstormer in maidenhead, and although I'm a very different rider to you guys (much thinner for one thing ;0P ) I drew pretty much the same conclusions - best sportsbike out there, better than the Ducati in terms of handling, refinement, tech, punch...I also struggled finding neutral and with the odd clutch bite...what a fab bike though eh!?

@@FortyFourTeeth To be honest I was so blown away with how good the bike was I didn't notice the low screen - on the dual carriageway the airflow was nice and smooth though, none of that horrible buffet, and, believe it or not, I was going at not-slow speeds!

Awesome bike, I rode the one Al is on a week ago. It's bonkers fast yet fills you with confidence. Probably a really dangerous combination on the road! Sweet vid.

Just a proper grenade would do.
You borrow the number plates of the camera van and go round and round, letting it issue tickets to itself.
I got rear ended (slow impact) last year while stopped at a junction and the rear number plate mount got smashed. A replacement from BMW only cost €80 or thereabouts. None of the lights or reflectors etc were damaged and the number plate was fine so I simply transferred them to the new part and fitted it all myself with assistance from some you tube videos. The little BMW badge comes with the part so no need to go fiddling with that. At least I have a spare bmw badge now if I ever lose the one on it. The can fly off some bikes. Thankfully my rear carbon wheel was undamaged.
I think the michelins are very confidence inspiring...
Picking a 2021 m package s1000rr next week ...just so I'm not putting 1000s of miles on my 50k 2020 v4s. Hope I like it!

Sounds like they are putting more space between this and the single R. Need a track weapon? 2 Rs. Street bike? 1 R
I put 13k miles on my '17 single R. Looking to get '19 RR this week. I'm eager to see the difference in terms of road riding performance. Handle bars do make the R more comfy but the RR is not uncomfortable. I don't have a car so I ride year round, looking forward to seeing how the RR does 😁

I find power rs feel greasy when you run "normal" road pressure so i put them low 32 front 34 rear on the road and use in all conditions the pressure i find rises alot with these tyres almost to recomended when hot from the temp i start with.
The bike was brilliant, very much on the nose, but I did find the mirrors to be vibey, not that I could see the same issue in your bikes.

Great review - as have been all your vids on the BMW. Inspired me to stop all the dithering and order one. Got my new M package last week and even though I have only managed to do 63km on it over the weather I fully agree with all your verdicts.
TLDR: Gel seat, Akrapovic slipon, and double-bubble screen, and it's the perfect, do everything, go everywhere bike!

The way I look at it is you wouldn’t ride this if comfort and touring is your primary aim. I mean you wouldn’t tow a horse box with a Lamborghini.
Every bike is a bit of a compromise, even the mighty GS is great at most things even quick rides. Put it against this though and it would get annihilated on a fast ride or track.
I still question the reliability of this bike compared to Japanese, such as Suzuki and Honda.
Another thing is, the heat it generates.
Edit: @4Teeth what is your thoughts? Is the price and technology worth it over a Japanese?
As far as I know, BMW isn't as reliable as people think and sometimes service costs (brake disc, pads etc.) are insane compared to other bikes.

Judging by BMW's general reliability and the extremely complex tech on this new bike (electronics, VVT, etc), I would never buy this over a GSX-R1000R or a Fireblade SP.
@@joaosoares3719 I kind of was thinking the same. Not to say that Japanese bikes aren't sophisticated with their technology. But they way they are built remains simpler and easier than European bikes.
3 year warranty from new, so if you're changing to a new bike on a regular basis it wouldn't be a worry. But yes, buying 2nd hand after that period would need consideration

A 600 roadster will do 0-60 in about 3.5 sec.......and 50 meters
You tell me you need a superbike to accelerate to 60 mph in under 100m.
I just point out that almost anything (except a Bandit) will do it in 50m. That's good news: it will make your next choice of bike easier.

I have been on a 2 hr test run this morning on a fresh 73miles on the clock msport mpack something or other …. The bike is magic a little vibey but it’s a night and day difference from what I’ve rode before…. 9/10 from me one word to summarise …. easy ❤ 🔥
I love the new BMW s1000rr but the M package is not for the road its built more for the track, the seat is hard. I am going to get the race package which is better for the road.
The carbon wheels are probably the one really desirable part of that package
The carbon wheels are desirable but the bike is soo light you can get away with forged wheels. I have 2016 s1krr with Forged wheels and my bike feels like a 600. I just dont want that hard ass M seat lol and I dont like the color scheme, I am really waiting for the black s1krr..Check out Race Package it's a better road bike

I actually think the ducati needed a slightly longer arm to accommodate the brute force the bike generates. As usual, bmw makes excellent linear power in motorcycle production as well as automobiles. I'm a huge corvette guy, so I'm use to taking crap from porsche and bmw guys.

Exactly. You like what you like but these guys lick BMW's ass too much. Ergos too extreme for the road without being an advantage on the track (they're getting their asses kicked on WSBK), questionable build quality (some of the plastics are embarrassingly bad and the bodywork is already falling apart), subpar brand reliability... Other than the incredible electronics and the good looking display I don't see how this bike is a better option than the Fireblade SP or the GSXR1000R.
Please do make the Aprilia 1100 factory road test too, I'm trying to shape my purchase decision off your always worthwhile review's.

I’ve owned both. The 2018 BMW owns the 2018 V4 in just about every way; handling, acceleration, comfort, electronics, fueling, braking, etc. Aesthetics could go either way. Both are good-looking bikes.
This is not a bike for over 30 minutes of riding, unless you're 5'2". These bike are too track focus now.
My BMW S1000R is the best handling bike I've ever ridden. I'm 56 been riding since I was 14

No wonder the suspension is stiff, when you are driving it in race pro mode... Try the Road mode, and it becomes softer
Almost everyone mentions inline 4, like it's some kind of lesser of an engine! Inline 4 is actually a very capable engine,
it's smooth, it can rev pretty damn high, too. It's just very smooth and some people interpret that to being boring!
