Great review! I’m an old geezer (67) and have almost 11,000 miles on my 2020 S1000RR M Sport. There’s still a bunch of hooligan in me. As you say, it’s an amazing machine. I do mostly sporty street riding through the local twisties, but have also had 6 track days on it this past year, including 2 full days at COTA (the US MotoGP/F1 track in Austin, TX). Whatever the venue, street or high-speed track, this is the best sportbike made. The 44Teeth guys came to the same conclusion recently in their review. The RR won both the street and track superbike shootouts over the RSV4, V4S, R1 M, and CBR1000RR R SP. That the RR can excel and beat everyone else at both extremes is a remarkable achievement. I rent an S1000XR (the new one is terrific) when I do distant tours with buddies (my trip across the Pyrenees got canceled this year when the world closed), but the RR isn’t terrible, albeit it doesn’t have the luggage capability of the XR or GS. But the RR is the best at giving you an instant woody regardless of venue.

Having now done 2k miles on my S1000r sport I’ve got to say it’s the best bike I’ve ever had. Sat nav in a sport bike? heated grips? and cruise control. It’s perfect. I was a Ducati fan boy but the panigale doesn’t even give you a fuel gage. The performance is phenomenal (like all sport bikes) but as you say it’s the perfect sports tourer. I’m 6’4 and 56yrs old and it’s a joy to ride. Guys this is the best all rounder out there. A 200 mile journey is a joy.
You sold me this bike Chopsy, I've bought the S1000RR M pack, I have the new registration from BMW, but I'm waiting on the bike to come to the show room. It was the saying, old mans sports bike that did it for me, I'm 64. Thanks for all your hard work. Robert. 👍
I've got a BMW s1000r but I've been wanting to try the big brother for a long time. Took one for a test ride yesterday after watching this & many other videos online after work during the week. Chopsy, you were 100% right. Around town this bike is magical. I was stunned. Absolutely stunned at how much more maneuverable than the s1000r was around town. Unbelievable. It was so good I'm trading in my s1000r for the s1000rr. Thank you Chopsy!
I dunno man. Different is good. Chopsie is a classic more mature rider who whilst leaning it and tracking it occasionally is more of a road warrior. Whereas Neevsie has more race cred and leans more in race mode style and belief. Most riders, even those who occasionally go on track, aren't close to the limit of modern litre bikes and do 99% of riding on roads. For example Neevsy still pushes the Tuono as the ultimate Sport Tourer. It's definitely great but nowhere near as comfy and as liveable as the S1kRR which owns the S1kR because of shift cam, more adjustable suspension and modes and a proper fairing that can easily take a super tall screen for touring in a 5 minute swapout. Riser and straight bar kits are available for it also. So I reckon LCR nailed it better than MCN here. I like hearing a bloke more from my perspective. I used to race cars on track in championships but I never ever raced bikes on track and likely never will.
Much better reviews than VISORDOWN . They NEVER have the minerals to state if one bike is better in class than another. ALSO good review on the BMW S1000RR, this reviewer owns a Kawasaki H2 which is a very comfy very capable sport tourer. So when he states the BMW S1000RR is even BETTER than the Kawasaki H2 you know its an exceptional ROAD BIKE.
Great review of the S1000RR. I think you nailed it with this bike. Its very versatile by virtue of its neutral riding position and adjustable suspension. For an all round bike you cannot go past cruise, heated grips and navigation. All these things work brilliantly on the S1000RR. When I'm really knackered coming home I'll often put it in rain mode and you could be riding a Ninja 400 its that docile. It even turns off the pops and crackles. In contrast take it to the track you can stiffen this up to a point where is feels as sharp as some of my old race bikes. One turn of preload on the rear and hit your favourite race pro mode and you are good to go.
I spent a couple days with the 2020 S1000RR at VIR earlier this month, and I was very impressed. I'm coming from a Multistrada (which is a fantastic Sport-Tourer I've put 60,000 miles on in 4 years). Comfort wise I was surprised at how comfortable the RR was, I do think it'd be suitable for short touring rides (couple days and maybe up to 300 miles a day... so not hardcore but pretty capable). Certainly leg position is tighter... but I generally ride with my toes on the pegs of the Multi and it's pretty close to the normal leg position on the RR. The only issue is that you don't have a lot of positioning options and on longer rides it's important to be able to move around (so you'd need to stop more frequently to stretch). This was my first time on a sportbike and I was also surprised at how little weight was on my wrists... I don't really think wrists would be a problem riding the RR for longer periods of time. Then there's the power... midrange is more than powerful enough for nearly all street riding. Top end is BALLISTIC. Over about 9k rpm will likely be very sparsely used on the street (at least if you want to hold onto your license).
Not into bikes any more as broke my back in a motorbike crash . I’m healed but lost the love . But love this Chanel watch and like every vid you do .. love them Mat age 45 keep it going bro 💯👍👍👍👍🙏
Oh don't be a wuss and give up bro u know u loved it once. You only live once in this lifetime get back up on a bike! With that logic if you choke on food and it scares you do you give up food forever!? Lets go 👊
At last someone giving it a proper review and not trying to compare a road bike to a full on track bike. If you only ride for a couple of hours a week I’m sure the more focused bikes are a blast, but if you want to ride thousands of miles a year a bit of comfort goes along way. Let’s face it whilst we all like a good blast you can’t ride the whole day like it and keep a clean licence or survive on the road.
Another excellent video. I've always forgiven my new bikes for most things for 2 weeks, maybe a month, then the euphoria wears off a bit - then you notice the bike's not very comfortable, pours heat at you and other real life things. If you spend your life doing track work the criteria is different. For the road you can only ride a section as a sports bike, the rest of the time is sports tourer mode (certainly in over crowded England) - that's why this video is so good, it tells the other side of the story .... it also does well at super stock and road racing, it covers a lot of bases. I like the gsxr1000 too, it does the other stuff well - which if we're honest is the vast majority of the time.
Hands down one of the best reviews I've ever seen! Very nicely done with incredible camera angles! I love the 2020+ BMW S1000 RR. Hopefully by next spring, this will be my second motorcycle. Thank you for making the excellent video! I subscribed, liked, and put this video into my BMW S1000RR Playlist. Cheers, -Chris
Immediately after watching this video back in August 2020 I phoned the dealer and put in an order for an M Package for delivery in January 2021. Obviously I had watched previous S1k video's on you tube but it was this video that made me say - right lets do this. Thankfully Lamb Chops was right - it is a nice comfortable bike for the elderly rider (62) so thanks Lamb Chops for making me pull the trigger on this one.
Good review, thanks Chopsy. I'm 51, 5'10" and currently a tubby 16 stone...I got a previous gen S1000RR and have done 2000 miles on it in about two months and find that comfortable (came from Ducati Multistrada and a Supersport). If this is comfier it must be awesome. Oh, and the power sets your hair on fire when you want it to.
Third time of watching this 😀 You summed this up perfectly. I got a gen 3 this year and love it. Great for summers day blasts and stick my SW-Motech panniers on and it’ll your beautifully. I can only imagine what this one is like. I keep kidding myself I’ll keep my current bike but being honest with myself, I’ll be on one of these before the end of next year. And I’m the older gent you mention...I’m 52. Previous bikes were a Ducati Supersport then a couple of Multistradas. The SS was a great tourer, and my BM is very close. Both are better than the Multi IMO.
Mate, I'm convinced. I unfortunately had to sell my 15 S1000RR and 15 Super Duke, but I'll be able to grab a new bike soon. I've been torn between the Tuono (no dealer nearby), the Beast 2020 and the BMW. With the extra low down grunt of the shiftcam and all the extra features it looks like the winner.

You nailed it with this review Chops . Most people who can afford one of these are probably over 45 and don't want the harsh ride but still love sport bikes . Adjustable bars and footrests ,higher screen road biased spec may save the sports bike . Shit! I'm getting old
The more i look at this machine the more I like it. If I was to get another sports bike this would probably be my weapon of choice . Great review again Chops 👍😊
Splendid as always! Just got a -17. :-)) Comin from a Cbr600rr, My initial reaction in ”rainmode” was - I can ride this to the end of the world. Taking mine to the track this weekend. :-) Keep it up! You do amazing vids for us Old chaps:-))
As always a great review. About to change my Multistrada 1260s as I’ve now done 10k miles on her but never really liked the adventure bike look. Was contemplating the Kawasaki H2SX, but now I think I need to try the S100RR.
I agree 100% with your suspension comments, the BMW is super comfortable and very very good (once you play with the modes) but does seem to lack a bit of feel & feedback, it can feel a bit vague but it works so well. I found the whole bike so good it was bland ! if that makes sense !?!!? it was good but not exciting. quite effortless to go fast especially when compared to say a Ducati V4 which is bonkers ! with heated grips and all the bells & whistles a 'superbike tourer' it definitely is
Brilliant video 👍. I’ve been hankering after my Big Bang R1, I sold in a moment of lunacy. Love my 1290 SDR, but I need one of these 😍. Just a shame the pipes are so quiet ☹️. Roll on the end of lockdown, so I can test ride (going on past experience, means buy) one .
Bought one of these in March in Sport trim traded in a Gen 3 version and it really is the best bike I've ever owned it does everything and it looks the bollox, great review Choppsy summed the bike up completely :)
New to your channel. Great review. Thought I was done with sport bikes myself and I’m currently enjoying my 2000 R1100RT. However, I’ve put about 250 miles on my buddy’s Ninja 400 over the summer, and discovered I still got the feels. Panigale V2 is what I have my eye on for a second bike, as I’ve ridden soooo many inline fours, but you’ve convinced me that the S1000RR is worth serious consideration. Thank you, from one O.G. to another. Subscribed.
Nice video and agree that that would be the sports bike choice for me. But the reason the H2 se+ swung it was the thing the BM would struggle with and that's taking a pillion.
I think the BMW has got it licked, they clearly know and understand their target market. When you look at the new Blade for example it’s probably everything the BMW isn’t. Another top review, really enjoyed it and found myself agreeing with you - out loud which was a bit weird lol Keep ‘em coming 👍👍👍
New Blade is a absolute animal very un Honda like, you do have to rev the nuts of it though was very impressed seeing it in the metal looked better than the magazine pictures.
Chopsy, I love how you can get away with riding no handed on here in the comments 😂 I get so much abuse on my videos for riding with one hand 😭😅 ace video! I get to ride this bike quite frequently and I LOVE IT!
Haha, I do get some comments why you waving you're hands around etc I just ignore them. It's a brilliant bike isnt it, you're lucky to be able to get out on one regularly through work. By far still the top sportsbike for me, well trying the new Blade soon but cant see it being as nice on the road at least
Your chanel is great Chopsy and one of the things that's kept me sane over the last few months, keep up the great work. I get it, the BMW is the best road bike with the most usable power, an outright all rounder. But the the Italian does look and sound great though🤔👍
My track bike is a V4S, my touring/sport tourer is the new S1000XR. Its the dogs bollocks... But i suppose if you could only have one bike for track and touring, this is the bike
Great video John... but come on, there’s a super moto in bits waiting to be built and shown to us... we cannot wait 😱👍😂 To be honest I have been toying with buying a Ducati V4 or RSV but I think you have convinced me my choice should be the RR.
Ooooo, Chops, got me thinking my Gixxer is past it now!! Lol. Must try this electric wizardry suspension 🤔 I was actually loving the Africa twin also. 🤪 Hmmmmm🙃 Keep up the awesome content buddy 👍🏻🏴 (Aberdeenshire always open for a tour) 😉
I was looking at the hypernakeds for something I can have fun with on the street and also do 5-6 track days a year with, opposed, to just having a dedicated track bike. When I started looking at the S1000R I started to compare it to the S1000RR. I then realized you gain a lot of weight with the S1000R and lose a lot when compared to the S1000RR. When I then sat on one and realized how much more comfy the RR is compared to the class I figured I’d order one.
@@LambChopRides Definitely have to get a stage I & II tune and an exhaust system. It’s way too quiet, too much power left on the table, and too much of a flat spot between 5-8k RPMs not to.
Just got a 2020 M sport to replace my gen 1 2011 model. I'm 70 in 6 months. I'm loving everything about it except the seat, which is a bit much for my bony old arse. But there are obviously things that can be done to improve seat comfort, which I will sort out over the winter months. Either with a bespoke detachable comfort cover, or lots of doughnuts :D
Picking up my new XR in a couple days and very stoked about it. While I LOVE the idea of the RR as a sports tourer--the weight and the looks of the RR are awesome compared to the XR--I'm absolutely certain my wrists, knees, and hips will thank me for buying an actual sports tourer, and not a RR. Too bad I can't afford both.
Perfect review chops well done I'll probably buy the bmw as my next bike as I love all the goody stuff you get with BMW thanks chops great video thanks from Danny
We keep watching your channel because you make a fantastic content! You become my favorite over the years! Keep it up, can't wait for the next video on the hypermotard! 🍺🍺💯👍

Keep it up! You do amazing vids for us Old chaps:-))
Thank you for this nice video . I definitely am an older gentleman :) so this is really helpful. I just ordered my own BMW S1000RR M package.
Great review all the way from Australia 🇦🇺 👏 chopsy excellent review 👍 👏
As always a great review. About to change my Multistrada 1260s as I’ve now done 10k miles on her but never really liked the adventure bike look. Was contemplating the Kawasaki H2SX, but now I think I need to try the S100RR.
Great review chops i am looking for upgrade and definitely going to Test Drive this Bike
Bro I just saw u go by me I put my thumbs up but I don't think u saw I couldn't believe I saw u on the same road I saw spicy110 that h2 is a beast
Nice job Mate. Enjoyed that. 👊🏼
Yes, a video title and content that I have been waiting for! Looking to buy a 2021 S1000RR this month. Thank you sir!
BMW IL4 Rocks 👍 Going against the flow - Well done Mr C 😀
Top Review mate....Looking forward to the rebuild series :)
Thanks chopsy. I've bought one of these on the back of your review lol !!! Like the v4s but all round this is a winner.
Good move Mark brilliant choice! 👍
Great review Chops. I want one!
Channel is doing well because of you 👍👍
Bought one of these in March in Sport trim traded in a Gen 3 version and it really is the best bike I've ever owned it does everything and it looks the bollox, great review Choppsy summed the bike up completely :)
Good to hear!
Thank you, from one O.G. to another. Subscribed.
Thanks buddy, I have a long term s1000rr currently and just done 580 miles on it yesterday and in incredible comfort 👍👍
Shiftcam is what makes it unlike any other inline 4 including the S1kR
Excellent video, a big thank you from me for your great reviews. I look forward to each and every one.
Thanks Dave 👍
Great upload chops! Love the channel and your enthusiasm! Keep it coming lad!
Thanks matey 👍
Who'd a thought it? The IOM lap record holding bike is a sports tourer!!!!!!! You guys must be riding gods🤔
Worth supporting!! Thank you
I have the 2022 S1000R and I just keep it in road mode the whole time because it is more fun than the other modes.
Another top review, really enjoyed it and found myself agreeing with you - out loud which was a bit weird lol
Keep ‘em coming 👍👍👍
Testing the new Blade soon so will let you know... :-)
Brilliant per usual, you could do a TV series
Your chanel is great Chopsy and one of the things that's kept me sane over the last few months, keep up the great work. I get it, the BMW is the best road bike with the most usable power, an outright all rounder.
But the the Italian does look and sound great though🤔👍
Thanks Phil appreciated
Best review I have ever seen on this bike. Well done sir.
Hi mate I love these vids I have just bought a black metallic storm sport I get it in 3 weeks I can not wait
My track bike is a V4S, my touring/sport tourer is the new S1000XR. Its the dogs bollocks... But i suppose if you could only have one bike for track and touring, this is the bike
Great video John... but come on, there’s a super moto in bits waiting to be built and shown to us... we cannot wait 😱👍😂
To be honest I have been toying with buying a Ducati V4 or RSV but I think you have convinced me my choice should be the RR.
Ooooo, Chops, got me thinking my Gixxer is past it now!! Lol. Must try this electric wizardry suspension 🤔
I was actually loving the Africa twin also. 🤪
Hmmmmm🙃
Keep up the awesome content buddy 👍🏻🏴
(Aberdeenshire always open for a tour) 😉
Thanks Derek matey 👍👍
I was looking at the hypernakeds for something I can have fun with on the street and also do 5-6 track days a year with, opposed, to just having a dedicated track bike. When I started looking at the S1000R I started to compare it to the S1000RR. I then realized you gain a lot of weight with the S1000R and lose a lot when compared to the S1000RR. When I then sat on one and realized how much more comfy the RR is compared to the class I figured I’d order one.
Yeah it's a great bike Ryan 👍
@@LambChopRides Definitely have to get a stage I & II tune and an exhaust system. It’s way too quiet, too much power left on the table, and too much of a flat spot between 5-8k RPMs not to.
Great video mate, thankyou for all your efforts.
G'day Mr Chops. You've just echoed my sentiments exactly on this bike, it's brilliant.Love your videos mate,
keep 'em coming.
Oh man! Was thinking of the Panigale V2, after this video you have made me rethink so bad😅 lovely video as usual mate! Cheers.
Very nice video, m8! Greetings from Germany and BMW ;)
Yeah get the non Msport seat 👍👍
Awesome footage as usual Mr Chops
Thanks again!
Excellent review of the RR 👍🏻
Loving the content chops, go easy in the winter! 2021 zx10rr test in the new year?
Big up mate
Great review chops. Sell the H2 and get yourself one of these 😁
Nice review, made me think about testing a beemer , keep them reviews coming, thumbs up
Perfect review chops well done I'll probably buy the bmw as my next bike as I love all the goody stuff you get with BMW thanks chops great video thanks from Danny
I'm nearly 57 and on a gsxr1000r but love it
We keep watching your channel because you make a fantastic content! You become my favorite over the years! Keep it up, can't wait for the next video on the hypermotard!
🍺🍺💯👍
Thanks Roland 👍👍
Almost bought the bmw but went with a v4s in the end. Don't regret it.
Thank you Chopsy, great channel great content. Keep the reviews coming pal.
Much appreciated
