I think you summed up the bike nicely, difficult to fall in love with. Had a S1000R from new a couple of years ago, VERY capable bike, quick, great handling etc but zero personality (whatever that is). Only kept it for 14 months and sold it, just could not connect with it. Ended up buying an old XJR1300, spent money on that and feel in love. Old school but at least I feel connected to it.

Cracking review. Shame about the track time. Think I'll stay with my S1000R Sport '21 for now and save some pennies.

I was thinking all through that, OK yes but for real on the road riding, do you get anything more than the S1000R offers and in more people's budget. Then you pretty much answered it. Having said that the black M1000R with all its carbon at the bike show was a thing of beauty.

idk maybe buy the regular s1000r with some nice bits and put the 8k+ you save towards buying a mental zh2 idk that's just me

3:00 dont forget its for the environment. The sound of the bike is the least thing that makes a person a biker.

After trying and failing for a good few years, I think the honest truth is that you just can't really get a great all rounder. This M1000R is going to be amazing on track but will soon get boring on the road as you'll be well past most speed limits before even getting out of 1st gear. I'd rather take the £25k and buy two great bikes, one for (relatively) legal fun on the roads and one for track shenanigans.

I think it is not a good way to push really powerful bike to that point when everybody could ride it. Respect to your bike is what you keep you alive on the road.

I still want a 1290 as a Sunday ripper. Don’t think they’ll sell many of these. How strange as well that they wouldn’t let you test the bike properly.

      I wouldn’t
I’d get an MT-10 SP if it were my own money
I’ve ridden an MT-10 standard with full SC project exhaust. Sounds about as good as a bike can get. Thunderous, explosive sound, and they’re as pure as fun gets on motorcycles. As well as the cheapest. The BMW is too serious.
A close second would either be the V4 Ducati or Superduke
