IF PLASTIC SPLINE DOESN'T FIX GROWLING NOISE, MY FIX WAS THE POSITION SENSOR. I'VE HAD A COUPLE PEOPLE TELL ME THAT IF POSITION SENSOR IS BAD, MACHINE WON'T RUN. WRONG. IT GROWLS LOL
Man - after a bunch of searches, found this video - thank God. It's the only video I found that diagnoses this problem - I was about to change the bearings unnecessarily. (Even considered getting another machine $$$!) I removed the back cover, ran a test, and watched. Sure enough, shaft and rotor not turning at the same speed - rotor would stop and shaft would continue turning - stripped rotor! (Like Patdonte, mine is an 11-year old LG front load. (WM 2301 HR) Gonna definitely joint the channel & interestingly, backyard chickens is on my future list, so I'll be going there in the future as well! After joining, gonna copy the link, and order the part (along with your tester and a set of shocks. (Mine are gettin' pretty weak and my tester is bad) This channel is an awesome find - thanks Scott!
Thanks to your video, I changed the rotor on my eleven year old LG washer. I ordered the part from Amazon $110.00 and it was simple to replace. Thanks for your helpful instructions 😊.
Thanks man, I'll def check the spline. Gotta comment though how you say the word "on", not sure what part of the country you're from, but that's really something. Great video.
I am VERY impressed with this video! I subscribed and I thank you for being VERY methodical and precise. I have owned the LG WM2050CW since June of 2010 and its a great machine and I DID NOT have this particular problem!! I just replaced the Door gasket (bellow) and 'renewed' the corroded door hinge caused by the common leak above where the soap dispenser box 'plugs/connects' into the front panel. I sealed this with silicone caulking for the second time within 5 years!
I wish I could hear the sound your machine was making before replacing the spline. Mine is making a rubbing type noise. Drum isn't loose and it still washes. I need to email someone with a video of what mine does. I can't find anything on line that represents what my washer is doing.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance Could I send you a video of mine too? It's making a loud noise that I wouldn't describe as growling but is very loud. I'm hoping it is the same issue and not the bearings. Having a hard time determining which one it is.
There are two different size blinds for the LG washing machines. You can use your model number and go to searspartsdirect.com to find the correct part for your Washer.

Thanks Jaxon👍
Do you happen to have a video or sound bite of what the growl sounds like?
That would’ve helped

Lg are good at washing and rinsing, but shite at balancing clothes, down to piss poor shock absorbers

Our machine has a high pitched whine. Is this also due to the rotor splines?
Check the coin catcher first. Same symptoms but it just was t draining fast enough. Full of dog hair. Worked once emptied.
Excellent suggestion,
Thank you 😊

does this work for top loading machine’s?
Can you just replace the plastic piece? Or cement the old rotor into place?
They do sell just the plastic center piece at Amazon.

why cant lg use metal instead of plastic, it would make the washer last longer
You speak the truth 👍😊
The profits are in repairs and parts
that's why they don't.
The washer is very angry that’s why it’s growling
