Why doesn’t anybody show the sound to see if this is a problem

    • @RageCage1701
      @RageCage1701 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

Because that would take actual work -- i.e., finding a machine with the condition or creating the condition in a machine. It's much easier to slap a video together with a monotone narration and some plain text overlays.

Mine LG was making noise. Thought it was bearings but actually ended being Washer Basket Balance Ring. Replace tub bearings because I had it all a part, broke corroded spider spinner support, so once parts come in I’ll have new bearings, balance ring and spider support. If you tackle any of these, I was planning for 5-6 hours of work. If all went smoothly, it would have went much quicker. Biggest time consumer now is waiting for parts, second biggest time consumer was cleaning everything. Since I had everything a part did a deep clean on every part. Soap and hard water build-up everywhere.

I found that the noise comes from the balancing rings that have lost their sodium chloride allowing the large steel balls to roll fast inside the ring. Once the heavy salt solution has leaked from the balancing ring, the machine will never be properly balanced in normal operation. Even at the lowest speeds the machine will self destruct eventually. For me, the order of failure was front balancing ring failure creating a loud constant noise while spinning. The noise was like a cement mixer and a jet plane. This in turn caused a seal failure which in turn made the tub bearings fail. The proper fix if your tub is still useable, replace the drum spider, front and rear balancing rings, the tub bearings and seal and all should be good as new. If you have a GE front load washer you have to purchase a new drum which comes with the spider. GE is all about selling parts outside of their 1 year Parts Labor warranty. Oh yes they cover the motor for 10 years but the machine will have a major drum spider failure long before that. GE front load washers will last 6 years if your lucky then start to self destruct.

My candy alise washer-dryer has problems with main tub bearing.. the thing is for the life of me I can't find the bearing online from the info that is in the manual and washer itself, I plan to take it apart and search for a bearing by picture and see if I can find it that way

Yup, Defective Shock Absorbers is about to annoy me too hard with the Whirlpool AWM 6122 i have... I guess it can go for a few more years before the drum smashes itself into the panels and maybe causing the shock absorbers to break off making the drum not supported by them at all what will probably make the washing machine able to cause itself more damage and eventually break something else making it die by flooding... Good thing there is a new Siemens washing machine what does not have these problems!

Just wondering if you know the answer. Recently, my front loader produces some sort of scratching sounds when it’s on the washing cycle when it spins slowly. No such sound is produced in the spinning cycle when it spins at high speed. I tried to check the drum after I took the clothes out but couldn’t anything stuck in it. Any ideas for the reason?

  • @SeismicSales

@ :32 the problems is 2 different types of metal alloys. The drum and the 3 leg spider piece. over time they corrode. forcing the owner thats not handy with tools to buy a new one. FUNCTION AS DESIGNED so we end up buying a new front load washer every 8 years..

I have a LG TROMM, it is 13 yrs old, i had PSE&G out to repair, he only asked me what was it doing, i attempted to explain that it was a very loud noise, but not squeaking, he immediately said that the motor was gone and it would cost $1000 to repair and due to the age it is not worth it, i got my monies worth. It has been over a month since he was out and the machine is still washing but making the loud noise. Should i just purchase a new washer or have it looked at again for repair?

Top five reasons your front load washer is making a loud noise:
1] It is a residential front load washer and by definition is designed to fail
2] It has a die cast spider that is bolted to a SS drum. Galvanic corrosion WILL destroy it in a few years
3] It is under engineered, over priced and has many hundreds of parts that love to fail
4] It is a machine that cannot be reliable when built to a price point for residential use.
5]It is not a top loader by Speed Queen or a $300 Whirlpool. See # 1 again

      That's just stupid.
A washing machine as we all know won't last forever.
The machine will eventually fail and will need to be completely replaced with a new one.

Hi! I have a samsung front load washer that makes a loud knocking sound on spin cycle... also not able to complete the spin cycle. Also produces a burnt plastic smell after spin. Bearings are good (i tried installing a new rear drum and the problem persisted). Spider arm is corroded but not completely broken yet. Shocks appear fine. Weights are tight. What else could i be missing? Thanks

Sounds like the spider bracket mount is cracked. Unfortunately they don't sell the bracket separately, so you'll have to buy the whole casing and full assembly. Can be pretty costly depending on your make and model ($450 + shipping)

I have a Kenmore Elite HE3t washer that I purchased 2003. There was a banging noise at high speed so I checked you tube for an answer.
So what I did was I replaced the rear tub fitted with new bearings. After putting it together and run a test, I still have the same problem. Does this mean that it wasn't the right part that I replaced? Could it be just the shock absorbers or the spindle in the basket which I noticed with a little play? Need help in troubleshooting. It will be greatly appreciated Thank you

For me the video isn't useless. It gave me the feeling that the most likely cause of my washer's banging drum is worn shock absorbers, and the second most likely cause is a worn rear bearing. My washer's drum bangs only at a particular spin speed, which is momentary because it passes through that speed when the drum speed is accelerating or decelerating. That particular speed must be a resonant frequency of the drum + load (where load = clothing + water), which suggests something is worn or loose (and will probably get worse if I don't fix it). I think the fact that it only happens at a particular drum speed rules out several of the causes mentioned in the video.
