    Good tip about using an inline filter. Several videos on TH-cam showing diesel injector cleaning using this method but you're the first to show using a filter to prevent any dislodged debris from being drawn back into the pump and injectors via the bottle of injector cleaner. Great video! 👍

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! It’s really important to stop any debris getting into these injectors as they’re so fragile internally, so the filter is a good thing to use.
      Thanks for watching!

      I think maybe it's because other people used the engine's own filter. But This car does not allowed that!

    Thanks a ton. This is exactly what i was looking for. I also have a filter with only two ports exactly like you. I wasn't able to identity fuel lines because all videos of diesel purge with tdi show filter with four ports. Btw i own a variant of polo 6r known as polo sedan in some countries and vento in india.

    Hi Alex! I tried the same procedure on the 1.6 TDI Polo but somehow the engine refused to start after attempting at least 6-7 cranks. I'm guessing this could be due to air in the fuel inlet line? It kept cranking but never started. I had to call it off. Besides, I was wondering, why not remove the fuel pump fuse so that the pump doesn't push the fuel from the fuel tank during this procedure? When I connected the hose between the fuel filter inlet and the return fuel line, the hose became bloated! I was worried if it would rupture. Luckily I couldn't carry out the procedure. Pouring the diesel purge solution into the tank is an alternative but not as good as this process I bet.

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ganesh Balan Yes you must have managed to get air in the fuel line which stops the injectors working. Does the car work now?

    • @GaneshBalan
      @GaneshBalan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      alexaescht Yeah it worked after I reconnected the respective hoses back. Tried it a second time but the engine didn't start despite multiple cranks. Gave up and poured it inside the fuel tank. The tank had very less fuel; less than half of the reserve.

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ganesh Balan At least you didn't break anything!

    • @GaneshBalan
      @GaneshBalan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha *touchwood* I hopefully didn't. :) But after pouring the diesel purge into the fuel tank and revving the hell out of the engine, I think there's a perceptible difference when we went for a drive yesterday. Thanks a bunch for all the help Alex! Appreciate it man.

    I think you should also advise people to fill the inlet type with some diesel so it doesn't run dry for too long

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +why must i chase the cat If you disconnect the inlet pipe and put it straight into the clear line, then in the can, there is barely any air in the line at all that it doesn't matter. Only matters if you're using a really long line into the purge for some reason.

    Hi, why did you put the filter in the return line? the filter should be placed on the line going to the high pressure pump (hpp) right? please clarified. and what about priming of hpp, it looks like you started the engine directly. finely what about the results did it works? thanks

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn’t matter whether the filter is on the inlet or outlet line because we assume the the can of purge starts out clean. Putting it on the return line was easier as it meant we didn’t have to bleed air out of the filter to stop the pump filling with air. Results are good. Better response and quieter running

    Hi I know this is an old post but very helpful nether the less.
    I have one question and that is would it be better with the fuel filter on the flow in pipe not the return one, also the flow pipe just short by 5mm of the base of a clear jar.

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for watching. I think having the filter on the ‘in’ pipe would be fine also. I think the reason I chose to have it on the return was just to make sure I didn’t fill the pump up with air from the filter. I agree a clear jar would be useful too

  • @Liveforeever

    The filter should be on the intake pipe

  • @imusiccollection

    Would a simpler way of working be in like the liqui Lily adverts say? Just disconnect fuel filter pipes and place in the diesel purge can? In another video hardly any gunk came out from the injectors. Would it probably break down and be absorbed and be burnt away anyway?

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think either way will be fine. I just wanted to be cautious and use an extra filter to be sure

      There is a lift pump in the tank that runs constantly with ignition on. You have to recirculate that back into the tank otherwise you’ll have diesel spraying everywhere during the purge

  • @sam040572
    @sam040572 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I must caution you here, that the fuel injectors are continental make and are very expensive. at times this method cleanse the engine intake lines only not the entire system. And most of the times it leads to failure of injectors. The best practices are is to clean the entire fuel tank properly, change filters and clean the fuel pump too and is advised to use the purger with the full tank Diesel... Over a period you'll notice the improvement in performance...

    • @th3thin9

      you will run out of purge really quickly. you need to re-run the returned fuel back again, because not all of it is used up by the engine.

    great video!
    i have a vw polo 2012 tdi 1.2 engine code cfwa
    this engine type has a diffrent feul line setup like the 1.6. i'm finding it hard to do a liqui moly flush directly because of it. do you have any experience with this type of engine?
    i was thinking to just poor 4 or 5 cans (2-2.5l) into a half fild thank or les that should do the same thing. what do you think?
    i do the maintenance my self sinds i bought the car new from de dealership. it now has 269000 km on it and running perfect. eating just 0.7 liters of oil on 30.000k. i'm from holland and i always buy diesel from shell.

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +jammal ghma Yes, adding a lot of the flush into a nearly empty tank will do basically the same thing. You could also try working out the fuel lines and doing it the way shown in the video, but it doesn't really matter.
      Very glad to hear yours has done so many kilometres and still works fine! Must be a very solid engine this version of TDI (even if it does cheat emissions!)
      Thanks for watching

  • @juliusbarancejevas259
    @juliusbarancejevas259 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it safe to use? I mean, the lubricity of LM DP is unknown and high pressure fuel pumps of vw cr engines are very sensitive to fuel, it can start to "fall apart", and the faulty pump work could be noticed not immediately after the procedure, but in 10k or 20k km. Was thinking of using it, but now I get second thoughts..

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Julius Barančejevas Many people have used this stuff with CR diesels and haven't had issues. It's diesel-based anyway and shouldn't cause any issues.

    Hi mate,
    I'm having some problems with my polo 2010 TDI, if I'm on a motorway and let the RPM fall below 1800 on 5th gear going uphill, it seems to lose its power a lot. The dashboard asks to go down to 4th then 3rd gear and the speeds stays at around 50mph until the hill is over, then it seems to get all of its power again?
    Thanks in advance

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +LushiiiPlays This could be normal behaviour; the Polo TDI puts out it max torque at 1750rpm and it does drop off below that a fair bit. It could also be due to a dirty air filter, faulty injectors or a blocked DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)

      Firstly, I would recommend to change the fuel filter every 30,000km. VW recommends to replace it every 60,000km however in areas of poor quality fuel, 30,000km will be more appropriate.
      Diesel Purge is the sort of thing that I would only use roughly every 60,000km (every second diesel fuel filter change). Make sure to run the diesel purge before you change the filter, not after.
      With the oil, I recommend staying with the VW Specified 5W-30 until at least 200,000km. Only change to a heavier weight oil (eg 5W-40/10W-40) if the engine is burning oil between oil changes. If it is running fine, and not burning oil, then stay with 5W-30. Make sure you are using high quality, synthetic, VW approved oil to ensure the engine and exhaust system lasts a long time.
      I hope this answers everything, but if you need any further help please let me know.
      Regards, Alex.

    I've done exactly that on my SEAT ibiza 2009 with 105000km ! Except I
    continue till the engine stop by itself ... and then I couldn't restart
    it. I knew it was because air got into it. I have been recommended to
    spray some toilet freshener into the tube that goes to the air filter
    which I did ! After a small explosion sound: The car started
    straightaway.
    The only thing is, since then, purging and all ... the car makes a sound
    of vibration which I can feel on the pedal while passing the gear 1 and
    2....after pushing the accelerator the vibration goes away. I've been
    told it was the flywheel .... why ? Is it because of the purge ? Do you
    know what went wrong ? .....Thanks for reading this !

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alain Jean Sorry to hear of the problems you had. The vibration may go away after a week or so of normal driving, however if it doesn't, and the flywheel is faulty, the flywheel wouldn't have been broken by using the diesel purge - it would be faulty for another reason. Also, you may have only noticed this vibration after the purge, even if it was always there but you had never noticed it before.
      Hope that helps.

    • @AlainNoirmoutier
      @AlainNoirmoutier 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +alexaescht thanks for your explanation. At least, that's a relief that it didn't come from the purge. However, after a month or so the vibrations are still there. One thing I forgot to mention is that while the liquid was purging the injectors I was accelerating till 2500 rpm ... that Also wouln't have hurt the flywheel ?

    • @YZJB
      @YZJB  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alain Jean Doing that won't hurt the flywheel in any way - it's impossible. The damage would have been caused from something else, or even just through wear and tear. I know these flywheels can fail at relatively low kms.
