    i looked at the different ways people do this and decided to try this method,
    my 2002 bora pd130 has 295000 miles on the clock, it has the lift pump so i looped the filter,
    went for a ride to get to running temp before i started,
    about 5 minutes into the purge the engine started to smooth out and change tone, less knock less shake, the wife who i had pumping the throttle even noticed the change without me asking, i could see the small filter collecting crud,
    i was not convinced while it was running on liquimoly but that changed when i hooked it back up on pure diesel and went out again to test the result,
    on the road the car feels notably smoother less diesel like and pulls harder from 3 grand up, it also cured a short loud knock it had on startup,
    great tune.

    Thanks for the video. You should've mentioned that you primed the feed line before attaching it. This is absolutely crucial to avoid destruction of the high pressure pump.

    Awesome. Just did it. Jetta TDI 2007 Mex. I saved some hose to make an u on the filter and avoid fuel spill that the tank pump is pushing. Make sure the bottle where you pour the liqui moly diesel purge is made of glass since the fuel coming back from the return line gets hot and a plastic bottle could be compromised. Keep posting this fantastic ideas. Saludos!

    You can also just put the two hoses straight into the Liqui Moly container as they advise on the side of the can. This eliminates the need for a glass jar etc.

    • @pedrotyler
      @pedrotyler  10 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      That would be the easiest way but I decided to put it in a clear jar for video purposes and to show that I left a little bit of the Liqui Moly in the container but the original can works just as good.

    If you put an inline fuel filter in the fuel line like I did in the video, the contaminates will get filtered out before returning to the injectors so I don't think using two jars would have a noticeable effect.
    Also compu85 is 100% correct the color change is the diesel being mixed in.

    Frankly, I would avoid bypassing the fuel filter and putting any product directly into the injectors. 5-7 micron particles are the trouble makers. What did the exhaust look like during the process? I'm also surprised return cleaner did not seem to have any darkening effect on what was left in the bottle (see above). Guess everything that was cleaned out was micron size 😄. If cleaner is added before the filter, junk will be captured.

  • @pedrotyler
    @pedrotyler  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You could do that, but the fuel injection pump is recirculating and therefore will dirty up the new filter from the contaminates that were on the injectors. Also, the Liquid Moly will get slightly diluted by recirculating into a fuel filter that is slowly feeling up with diesel fuel.

    I've done exactly that on my SEAT ibiza 2009 with 105000km ! Except I
    continue till the engine stop by itself ... and then I couldn't restart
    it. I knew it was because air got into it. I have been recommended to
    spray some toilet freshener into the tube that goes to the air filter
    which I did ! After a small explosion sound: The car started
    straightaway.
    The only thing is, since then, purging and all ... the car makes a sound
    of vibration which I can feel on the pedal while passing the gear 1 and
    2....after pushing the accelerator the vibration goes away. I've been
    told it was the flywheel .... why ? Is it because of the purge ? Do you
    know what went wrong ? .....Thanks for reading this !

    • @pedrotyler
      @pedrotyler  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Alain Jean My guess is that the "small explosion" sound you heard probably put a lot of strain on your motor mounts and probably broke one of them. I would recommend keeping the toilet freshener in the bathroom next time and just cracking loose a few injector lines to bleed the air out.

      It doesn't matter, the fuel filter is bypassed as the engine is running solely on the diesel purge. The mason jar acts as a small fuel tank thus the fuel filter is not filtering while running the D.P. change the filter after if you really need someone to tell you what to do...

    • @davidparker9676
      @davidparker9676 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Better to do before changing the filter. Lubro Moly also recommends filling the new filter with Diesel Purge.
      I run some fuel system cleaner through the tank before changing to a new filter. It helps catch moisture and contaminants in your old filter. Keep your new filter clean.
      Adding fuel treatments every 5 tanks of fuel keep the system and injectors clean.
      I gained 5 mpg using these treatments since buying the car.
