Yeah but those were rando planets - Coruscant is the highest capacity planet in the galaxy. In the Vong war, a ship falling onto Coruscants surface would’ve killed millions with every impact
The difference between a billion seconds and a trillion seconds is 32 years vs 31,709. Killing Coruscant is way, way worse then anything else. And it isn’t just killing a planet - its forcing the trillion plus beings to all suffocate
When it comes to “sensing” droids, I always figured it was along the lines of what Kreia taught the exile towards the beginning of kotor2. Essentially where even though they aren’t living beings, force users could sense the energy they use
I recall a Legends book mentioned that too- one Jedi could sense them as little moving bundles of electricity.

The "no time dilation" one is easy to explain. In hyperspace they are not actually moving at relativistic velocities, it's a dimension which takes advantages of the "creases and folds" in the spacetime fabric of realspace to go fast without actually going fast. And in other cases they are not getting near black holes or neutron stars or similar objects to cause time dilation in the first place.
yes, that's with FTL that you Travel fast from point A to B BUT not really move that fast
But: that also applys for Objects that bending Space-Time like the Box Standart Black Hole and some others like Quasars etc., see Interstellar. So at least the Maw Installation would quite affected by that effect
@@enisra_bowman I like to imagine that is how they kept Ableoth trapped, Ableoth was "trapped" in a perception of time that would be nearly static to the outside galaxy (I like this headcanon since it implies Ableoth's "escape" was always inevitable, and I like the idea that all of galactic history occured in a blink from Ableoth's perspective... it makes Ableoth's existence much more chilling).

No one talks about how Palpatine straight up was best friends with Ysanne Isard’s dad and then he ended up sleeping with her. We dont know the order of events, three things happened at roughly the same time: Ysanne stole her dads job, Armand Isard was killed, and palp started sleeping with her. She got groomed

The Dark Side feeds on death - *all* death. Who dies doesn't matter so long as there is death. Knowing that throws a new perspective on how flimsy TIE fighters were & how useless Stormtrooper armor was. It was practically a form of human sacrifice as even the deaths of those on his own side still fed the Dark Side.

The "official" art if Nyax is probably the most inaccurate art of all time. His armor plates are sub dermal, the only visible parts are on his wrists, elbows and knees and he only has six, not right shoto style blades

I really want to see a Palpatine movie. Maybe we can see him young, he can be get into a disagreement with his parents, only to kill them and take their place as elite members of Naboo. Maybe a Jedi recruiter would go to Naboo, only for him to kill them while initially hiding his intentions. He could also impress Plageous by killing a prior apprentice with nothing but raw skill and a stolen lightsaber. That could be such a cool movie!
Palpatine's backstory was thoroughly established in the Plageous novel. He was a spoiled brat whose father had to constantly pay off officials to keep him out of trouble. The reason the Jedi never tried to recruit him and why Plageous took notice of him is that he was instinctively able to hide his Force sensitivity. His talent for concealing his power was the reason he was able to sit in the same room as multiple Jedi Masters and remain undetected.
@@Warrior-Of-Virtue That isn't a movie. I would like to see a movie on it. Him killing a Jedi would be amazing. I prefer him as a quiet troublemaker, able to hide and blame others for his schemes. Could be a great movie.

Hmm. Except that we will never see a full villan movie or show from Disney. Even "The acolyte" will end with a villan redemption. I agree a flashback or even a couple of episodes of a show, but he is literally the Devil and Hitler combinedX10, so you probably don't understand of how evil that is... and a movie or show would just have him as that or a supporting character. Palpatine is cool tho, and the less said about deconstructing the better.
Whether you support the current canon or the legends, one thing can be agreed that: there is NO line Palpatine will cross.

I've been watching your take on various aspects of Star Wars for a while now and, as I was watching this video, I was absolutely chuffed to see myself in it! At the 2:17 mark you happened to choose a scene that contains the handful of seconds I was in the film :) I'm 3rd from the left (behind Anakin's head befopre he stands up). Given the astronomically low chance of that moment being in your video, it brought a smile to my face 😊😊

On the topic of Imperial succession. Iirc I read on wookiepedia that in Legends the empire was, at least formally, a parliamentary monarchy, meaning that in the case of Palpatine dying the senate would've stepped in and elected a new monarch. Obviously by the time of ANH the senate is gone, but formally that was only a temporary maneuver

Oddly random question, but wasn't there a comic or book in legends set during the clone wars where the CIS found a way to create a synthetic variant of kyber? What was the method to making it and what was it used for? I vaguely remember there were some special IG-100 droids, IG-110 if I'm not wrong, that used the stuff to make some kind of lightsaber. Would love to more about it.

Random question, in legends why isn't Thrawn recalled from the Unknown Regions for the Battle of Endor? It would make a lot of sense and he's much more competent than Piatt, the Rebels don't know who he is (as we see when they think that all the Grand Admirals are gone) and if they did know that there was a Chiss commanding the fleet they'd likely think its a political assignment due to the Xenophobia of the empire. (I do know that Thrawn as a character didn't exist when the return of the jedi was being made)

So wait the kid from Children of the Jedi ends up way more cyborg than even Vader....but somehow he's still powerful in the Force? I thought that even back in the old EU days that it was accepted that losing chunks of your body affected your power in the Force. Or am I remembering wrong? IIRC that was the general explanation for why Palpatine was more powerful and Vader couldn't overthrow him
Not exactly. Vader lost power because he lost parts of his body and replaced them with cybernetics. Nyax didn’t lose significant portions of his body, just had bits added on, which is what matters.
Plagueis and Palpatine both are quite explicit during the training of their respective apprentices that "Sith power lies not in the flesh, but in the will."
Palpatine is also pretty clear in supplementary stuff that Vader's shortcomings are a result of his inability to accept or confront the things he'd done and move forward.
George Lucas explicitly said Vader was weaker because he lost parts of his body. Whether you want to accept his out-of-universe explanation is up to you, but that is what he said.

The senate was only just disbanded shortly before A New Hope. It was likely thought a cabinet member would succeed the emporer.
I never read the books, but I have watched so many movies, TV shows, and video games to pretty much know everything about Star Wars! I appreciate the information because I’m not a big reader, I like to see and hear the conflicts!🙂

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Ancient Sith and their knowledge, or lack thereof about the Star Forge! Ajunta Pall alludes quite heavily to the treasure of the Ancient Sith from his era to be the Star Forge, but I have yet to see this referenced anywhere else. I don't believe anyone other than the Rakatta, Revan, and Malak had anything to do with the Star Forge, or even had any knowledge whatsoever about its existence, and yet Pall seems to state otherwise and the Star Map is located within Naga Sadow's tomb, which couldn't have been a coincidence.

I seem to remember that another way to get around not sensing something in the force was just that: reaching out with the force and when you sense a “blind spot,” that was probably your target. But like you say, I haven’t read that series in decades and I didn’t even get through it all.

The air system could have been modified to be run by bespoke medical droids in Palpatine time. As for the SSD that’s always felt really weird that nobody would notice it being built.

When it comes to droids and Force senses I would imagine that you can sense where a droid is by the absence of what should be there or by a disturbance of an area, sort of like how we measure a vacuum by comparing it to the air pressure outside of it.
I thought it's because he ordered Vader to replace Leia's "Alderaan Ambrosia" perfume with "Tauntaun Musk" using that IT-O droid, but this is definitely worse by a little bit.

@askeck This is a very obscure character that I asked about before, but do you know anything about Palpatine's Grand Niece Ederlathh Pallopides? I found her while looking through wookiepedia and was wondering if there was anything else about her besides what it states. It may have some relation to the question of Imperial succession.
On that note I would assume prior to A New Hope most assumed that after Palpatine died that the Senate would choose a new Emperor. It was probably the most obvious way considering that the position of Emperor evolved out of the position of Supreme Chancellor, and so it would theoreticallystill beelected just with the Emperor being a lifelong position.
Palpatine didn't have the designers/builders of the Maw installation killed...the actual installation was a basic thing other than the construction capability that built the prototype Death Star along with a few other things, but it was basically a larger Imperial station dragged into place under Tarkin's orders
I always got the impression that if Palpatine hadn't become a sith lord he would have become a serial killer.

That whole Nyax arc really does just seem like a SW story made for flexing power levels in SW. Why would Coruscant suddenly need to rely on these oxygen scrubber stations Palpatine made? Nyax himself sounds like the physical epitome of "Let's make the most OP Sith/force user in SW".

See this is why I find the notion that Coruscant is the human homeworld to be so offensive. Any species that would turn their verdant homeworld into this zombified husk, totally dependent on technology to not freeze, to breathe, to not die, knows the value of nothing. #askeck: What ship, if it came from hyperspace, would make you faint from fear (even die from fear) if it just appeared from hyperspace (note: you are the captain/commander of a small cruiser or larger frigate), for me it's the Lucrehulk or the Executor SSD, either I get blown to bits by a turbolaser battery or I get ripped limb from limb by swarms of droid fighters, so either borderline instant death or death by a thousand laser cannons. 144 TIEs are a lot from 1 ship, but certainly more survivable than 1,500 droid ones bc not only are there more of them, they can kamikaze without worry of killing anyone, well... except you. We saw at Ryloth what kamikazeing droids did to star destroyer bridges, and the same at Endor (but with human pilots).

To be fair, communication shown in movies always seemed real-time regardless of distance if I recall correctly, so yeah, radio waves (and therefore light) travel infinitely fast in SW universe

I actually have the second Enemy Lines book. Haven't had a chance to read it yet. It's one of only 2 New Jedi Order books I own so far, the other being the first novel in the entire New Jedi Order series. I bought a bunch of books at my local Goodwill, trying to eventually get all of them read. Taking a while. 😂😂😂
