    Quick note, if your canvas is 3000 by 2000 pixels then a DPI setting of 300 is irrelevant. (at 72 DPI it would still be 3000 x 2000 pixels)
    DPI only comes into play when you convert pixels to cm of inches. So it only converts into measures that tell you how dense you'll be able to print it. 72dpi is less dense so you'll have a wider cm or inch size available than 300dpi which is more dense (more points per inch = less inches available for the total size). Hope that makes sense :)
    Apart from this, great review. Thanks for sharing it with us!

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really want to understand this better. Can you share more? Does the size of the screen in inches matter? Can you go into more detail on how you would find the maximum beneficial dpi size so there is no loss in quality. Or should it be a different setting? Thank you so much for sharing this!!!

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok. So if I understand correctly would this explain why when I tried to create small high resolution images and set the dpi to 300 the images kept coming out huge?

      All you need is an art glove to solve that. For traditional media I’ve used a variety of materials over the years for the same general purpose, dependent on the medium. For charcoals and pastels especially. So I think of this similarly except the issue isn’t smearing your medium obviously; it has to do with flawed palm rejection.
      If your averse to an art glove for whatever reason you could probably just go old school and use a small piece of paper or soft cloth under your hand (something that will slide along the glass smoothly) to achieve the same net effect.

    So that jitter is just the palm rejection technology? So Microsoft has almost fixed that then. I hope its just software related and in 6 months time they release a patch ;).
    I got a surface book 2 and my model has some audio issues when I plug in a headset. (Humming sound) Its a hardware issue so I'm going to get mine replaced. Otherwise the laptop runs great. I've played a few games on it and it hasn't maxed out yet. The keyboard feels amazing, etc.

    Thanks for the review. For someone doing mostly photo editing, would you recommend the SB 13" or the 15"?
    I Europe we only have the 13" right now, so I thought about getting it plus a larger external screen if the SB screen is too small. Which poses thenquestion of the possibility to color calibrate it.
    But maybe the 13" is big enough for photo editing work.

    Is this the 13 inch or the 15 inch? I mostly just want to use photoshop and AI.. I could get a 15 inch but I feel like if I spend 2000 dollars on it, I won't take it with me as often. If I spend half of that and get the 13 inch, I will take it with me more, but it might not run as good. What do you think? Which model is this? I am guessing/hoping that this is the 13 inch model.

    Hi, Im thinking about getting second hand Surface Book 1 with performance base but I would like to ask you if beside performance is there any big difference? Like for example this jitter or any difference if you draw using pen and use shortcuts on screen or fingers at the same time? I would guess it should be more a software issue than hardware so maybe that was improved in first S Book? I will be buying new surface pen to work with. I guess that old beefier version of Surface with i7, 16bg and gt 965 would be faster anyway that new one with i5 and intel graphic? So question is more in pen behave and software I guess... I would like to use it on Photoshop, ZBrush and Ableton Live mostly with your shortcut software
    Thanks

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey, I appreciate you're in depth review. As an artist I've been looking for something that would be a replacement for my 2013 MacBook Pro + Wacom Tablet. One question: is there anything I can use to forgo the palm rejection? I like to rest my palm on the surface when I draw.

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Renny Pitner there is pretty good palm reject these days. Worse case scenario you can operate with the taskbar hidden and fullscreen mode so there’s little to nothing to accidentally tap. I feel comfortable resting my palm on the screen when I work.
      I would consider this an unnecessary step but you can make a floating pad in Tablet Pro set to “blank” and it will do palm rejection for everything under it.

For art the pen and stylus in the sb2 I think is also better. But the sb2 is slow to switch to tablet use mode. What are you using it for? I'm using for front end web code developing. I use touch for testing out the UI. I draw for hobby. I like the surface book 2, but the 512G 15 inch model is too expensive in Taiwan, $3000 usd. But the yoga 730 15 inch is without a 4k screen in Taiwan, but price fairly $1400 usd. I would love to have the good screen since I love good screens from SP4 and mbpr.

      A couple of minutes ago I saw another review and he said as long as tablet and base are connected both will be charged through the base. Can you clarify please?

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes both will charge through the base just as if it was a single machine (with two batteries) when detached the top clipboard can be charged individually just as if it was a single device. And the bottom can also be charged while the top isn’t plugged in. Hmm or so I imagine. Haven’t tested that part. But you can’t “dock” the clipboard and have it charge up and then remove it. The bottom does not act like a cell phone charging battery. If the top clipboard battery dies the only way to use it is to plug it back into the base. It will then use the base battery. When it’s plugged in it will charge the top and bottom simultaneously (but not evenly as they are different capacities). Hope that helps! 😁

      @TabletPro  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean it causes extra jitter? I’ve been testing in a bunch of programs with the palm down and up and sometimes it “seems” like it makes it worse and other times it doesn’t seem to matter at all. No fix yet.

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t notice any difference at all. I’ve tested it multiple times and I get different responses for no apparent reason. Works really well sometimes and then other times more jitter and doesn’t follow any pattern I can find. Definitely would say I’ve tried numerous times and found nothing conclusive.

      No, I am in desktop mode with taskbar showing in the settings. But you are right, I have never tested in more advanced apps, so that's probably why. It's very disappointing. I'm surprised that you are not even able to at least swipe in from the left and simply switch to another app or to another desktop (or simply close the game). That should be available from everywhere. I hope microsoft fixes this, it's quite an oversight.

    While I do have a perfectly functional Galaxy Book 12 for drawing, I'm dreaming of switching with a 15" Surface Book when it comes to Europe. Those fans though in your video seem to be a lot more aggressive than what I remember of the first Surface Book: is it just an impression?
    Also, if I understood correctly, the cursor doesn't jump anymore under your tip as soon as you touch the screen with the pen? Because that's one of the reasons I got rid of the new Surface Pro as soon as I got the new pen to test on it this past spring...
    By the way, while I always did with just Toolbar Creator and my personal toolbar I guess I just have no more excuses not to give Tablet Pro a serious try. :)

      +Stefano Azzalin cursor doesn’t jump under the pen tip as far as I could tell. I notice when it does while using fullscreen trackpad mode.

    Hi Justice, thanks for videos .. is there significant difference just in drawing/painting experience, between surface book 2 (i7) and surface pro 2017 (i5) ?

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s significant. I had the i5 and it’s fanless which is nice but felt like it was barely faster then my old Surface Pro 2 with a fan. Great battery life, light, beautiful screen, great pen. But my opinion, not fast by today’s standards. The i7 if you can find a used one or with smaller ssd, that would be my route if your not gaming and on a budget. Better choice then the Surface Book 2. But I love to game so Surface Book 2 for me.

If you’ve ever tried having the hot keys on the side it’s quite nice. I do want to bring a product to market that attaches to the side of the computer and has buttons. I think that would be a useful tool.
