    A. DO NOT convert your money to pesos if you’re going to a resort. B. Take 100 dollars in singles and tip that way.

      @@3Days3Noches Glad I followed your recommendation of Diamond transpiration for all my needs in DR they were Great and Picked me up 3 hours before flight gave me time to get thru lines and for me to not see the floor sign facing the wrong way for terminals 27-30 and walk to end of wrong side of airport. I ran into several other people asking where 27 and 28 were and they got response “to right” or “down ramp” then we eventually had someone say go back to where we showed eticket and before we enter duty free store that’s where the gates for 27-30 are. Then when I got there I laughed because sign was facing into duty free store someone must have bumped it. Looks like those are new gates.

    I've been to the DR twice, both times we flew into the smaller concourse and we deplaned at the building (no bus). We flew Delta once and American Airlines once. We never had any major lines to deal with, getting thru security went pretty quickly both arriving and departing. We did check luggage and we used one of the luggage guys to pull our luggage from the baggage area to the transportation area...each time, they helped us cut the line and go straight thru to the front of the security area line.

      Flying in on Westjet or Sunwing from Canada you deplane out on the tarmac via the plane's stairs and get on a bus with standing room to go to the terminal so it depends on where you fly from. The people needing assistance are told to stay on the plane as they may have a special loading ramp which I haven't seen.

    Ive been on another part of the island back in 2020,21. What I learned is the difference between staying in close around the locals verses a heavy tourist area. Prices. 1 US dollar is a little over 50 pesos. So if you want to hand out US ones go ahead, thats all right, But if you want to stretch your tipping dollar, use their money. Of course don't short change them, but strike a balance and you'll save as you enjoy your vacation. Not sure what's up around there because it will be my first time on that side of the island but I do know that resorts are known to charge american prices so if your in a cab and see a local convenience store if there is such a thing in that area. Hit it up for bottled water etc, because you'll be most likely paying what the locals pay for bottled water and other goods.

    Our last trip, Dec '22, was when we found out about the bus system from/to the airplanes. This was a huge time waster so be prepared for that as you've pointed out. This actually affects our decision to go back (or at least WHEN, I do love your hint about before noon on Sunday). But you hit the nail on the head for everything that's for sure. We don't usually care too much about VIP at the airport upon landing (we do on the departure going home) but the cost is quite a bit. I assume you're from the US and have to get your own ground transportation as we in Canada usually have it included. So for Canadians, if you book private transportation ensure you tell your rep AT the airport so the bus/van doesn't sit there waiting for you as they try to find you (even though you've already left in another vehicle). This has happened to many people and it is very discourteous. Love all of your hints etc as we do take them into account when we travel :)

      @@3Days3Noches true! We were told WHY they bus but I found it hard to believe that someone didn't listen and just "wandered" off the marked walkways and somehow got killed. But it is a nuisance...however, IF you do get that Airport VIP I think they pick you up right from the tarmac, not 100% sure but I think that's the way it is. We saw people with signs of names. This bus thing wasn't there in 2019 (our last trip otherwise to DR).

    Both times we flew to Punta Cana, the worst part by far was that walkway once you get outside (where you look for your transportation).....while most people there are legit and are trying to help, there are definitely some shady folks there as you "walk the gauntlet."
    Both times, we had pre-arranged bus transportation to the resort through our Canadian tour operators, but beware.....the shady people look at your bag tags, then try to guide you to their vehicles...."Oh, oh, Air Canada....this way" or "Oh oh, Sun Wing....this way!!!"
    Make sure they have your name and info on their list, before going where they tell you to! Do NOT give them your name and where you are staying!

    • @3Days3Noches
      @3Days3Noches  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So true!!! It is similar in Cancun!!! That’s why we always say pre arrange transportation! And Confirm!!! Just like you said. Thank you for sharing!!!

    • @alonzathomas6389
      @alonzathomas6389 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hmmm... interesting wording...
      So I wouldn't say that they are shady they're just hustling/working very diligently to make a dollar. they're not going to kidnap you or rip you off and risk not being able to do business there it's their livelihood and they have to survive longer than your brief one visit...
      I found usually just telling him I have arrangements is good enough. they're looking for their folks who don't and there's tons of people who come through there who don't know what they're doing and actually need help...
      if you're scared of the environment and the people there in then perhaps you should choose a different destination

    I went to Punta Cana on june 2023, and I was expecting a very busy airport at my arrival, but I was very surprised to see an almost empty facility. It was very quick and easy to get my luggage and finding the transportation that I arranged previously. This was a completely different experience to that I had arriving to Cancun on oct 2021, to a complete chaos of an airport.
    Departing from PC wasn't much different than the arrival. It took more time because of all the things you have to do (security, bag checking, etc.) and waiting for your flight, but it was OK.
    Overall, good and safe experience.

    I have travelled to Punta Cana many times. I have also used the regular immigration line and the VIP services several times. I don’t mind the regular if I go during the slow season usually no more than 15 mins in line. I book the VIP service when I am traveling there during the peak times. The vip service is amazing. A representative will meet you at your plane gate. If your plane is lucky enough to get to a gate if you have to deplane outside and then take the bus they will meet you at the bottom of the ramp and take you in a golf car to the vip lounge where they will take care of all your immigration and customs paperwork while they offer you refreshments and light snacks. While your paperwork is getting completed a porter will gather up all your checked bags, once your paperwork is all completed the representative will escort you and all your luggage to the vip pickup area away from the general pickup area and you will board your transportation. It’s a amazing service to use when going during the really busy times. Stress free and a major time saver.

    They do now have e gates. And if you follow her advice and just bring little bitty sizes of sunblock, it’ll work if you’re only staying for the short time she does, but if you’re not, you can join me as a melanoma survivor if you’re lucky. The cost of a checked bag or waiting for a checked bag with sunscreen is a lot better than being a cancer survivor. Trust me learn from my mistakes.

    Hi, which Punta Cana all-inclusive hotel would you recommend? I’ve watched and subscribed to your videos and would really appreciate your opinion for a relaxing holiday for a couple ages 65+. Not really into the party scene, but we appreciate good food, great service, great beaches with white sand and great pools. I had booked the Caribe Delux Princess (only found 1 video on this hotel), but I can easily change since the trip is planned for next year. Some of the other videos I came across are Grand Bavaro, Majestic Colonial, Majestic Elegance (more expensive than Colonial), and Royalton Punta Cana. These are just a few, but I would appreciate a personal recommendation from someone like yourself who has been their multiple times. Thanks in advance for responding.

    What if you have global entry? Does that only work in the USA?

      It depends on the airport. We have it and they didn’t have a line for it

    We just got back from the DR. DON'T use Diamond Transportation as noted by this video. We had a reservation booked 2 months in advance. We arrived, but no one was there. We had to ask another company to call the Diamond rep. She came and didn't have our reservation. I showed her my printout, she took a picture and told us to go sit down. After a considerable wait, they scrounged up an SUV (no company name) and loaded us. Never told us what happened but worst of all, no apology. And of course, no welcome drink... nothing, just dropped us off.

      @@3Days3Noches No problem, it wasn't your issue. In fact, I think I saw one of your more recent videos and you weren't using these folks now. I enjoy your videos!

    • @3Days3Noches
      @3Days3Noches  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The destination counter is right before you walk out. So after the “shark tank”.

    A friend is traveling to Punta Cana with a very new passport. Less than 6 mos. Will she have a problem?

    • @3Days3Noches

      No! It’s only passports that are about to expire
