I actually like AC rogue's story and concept a lot. I still wish it had a higher budget and attention though...could've been a really unique Assassins creed game
@@JamesSmith-ny2gb It's unfortunate that the only game, which primarily(and properly) focuses on moral ambiguity between Assassin and Templars is still the original Assassin's Creed 1, which is even more of a big sheep than Rogue for both good and bad reasons.
@Nnnnm Hughuuhhjiijj AC3 also did a good job. Even after the Native became an Assassin and had learned their history, it was after he met his father that he was questioning both sides. The Templars and Assassins both have one goal and that's the protection of people. One group says it has to be done with law and control and the other says it should be done with freedom and liberty. It's about the way you go about it and the perspective. But yes AC1 did a very good job I remember the cinematics that had Altair really thinking about things.
I found myself replaying rogue every year just because I kept falling in love with the game’s concept. Problem is I always get disappointed when I remember what it’s really like.
For me, this is one of the few assassin's creed games that make me feel at home. I don't know how to explain it but it feels... comfortable. I could roam around and sail for hours, and just admire the atmosphere
This game is my second favorite assassin creed game. This game is so damn underrated. The characters and the gameplay is phenomenal. The story is the most unique.
@@ber2996and they used the same machinics from ac 3 just added to them in 4 what's your point nearly every sequel to a game does this especially when in the same engine
Not really, they just recycled everything from AC4. Hell, they gave Shay a sword and dagger as his weapons so they could copy over Edward’s animations on to Shay. They just gave Shay the dagger to make it LOOK unique, but it’s the same exact fighting style across both games.
I always thought it would be a great idea to make a game where you play as a Templar during the the 1300 before and when the templars where arrested and tortured brutally then burnt at the stake. It seems like a great time to play a Templar. It could show what happened during that time with the assassins taking things so far and acting evil to take down the order. You could also have the main character hunt assassins as a Templar and collect their hidden blades as trophies.
Fun Fact: There was a Spanish templar guy in AC Black Flag who killed an Assassin and took their hidden blades as a trophy. Those very same blades would later be given to Edward Kenway to replace the broken one he had while he posed as Duncan Wapole in Havana
@@ezioauditore6371 Julian Ducasse? I thought he was French? We also took his property in Great Inagua. And his Spanish galleon. Damn, I just realized we took all his stuff. 😅
Played rogue recently for the chance to play as a templar. It’s now one of my favourite ac games. Shay is a really interesting character and I will always play if Haythams involved. Wish it was longer but I’m glad we got it.
The story on AC Rogue was a breaking point throughout the whole Assassin's Creed story itself because we all saw the main villains like in AC2, AC Brotherhood, AC Revalations, and all the other AC Games mostly were templars💯
@@CopperkaijuI think they mean that in all the other Assassin’s Creed games, most Villains were Templars. Whereas in Assassin’s Creed Rogue, you get a different view
@@Copperkaiju From what I understand, it was a breaking point that you were always told "Assassins good, templars bad", which applied to all the ACs they mentioned, but that in Rogue you saw the ambiguity that was never shown and you actually experience that not all Assassins are good and not all Templars are bad.
@@hdhighdefinition9759 well no the ambiguity was always there we had Altair's teacher, Abbas and heck Altair would've become this as well if he didn't go on his journey after his prideful fall then there was a multiplayer character Ezio and his apprentice were chasing in revelations. And lastly AC3 were the templars were actually more grayer this time around! Shame we found out that Haytham saved his son from the gallows via a book!
This game could've started other templar focused games in this series like we could've gotten a game focusing around Haythems early years or what he did during all of Connor's story
8 Months of development is impressive for a game. So, even with Rogue being built on the same engine as Black Flag, it's still impressive for what we got. Short story most likely because of time constraints but we still got a new fighting system of sword and dagger and a fleshed out main character
Shay is such a charismatic and emotionally relatable character. I saw someone in the comments describe rogue as "comfortable" and I believe that the realistic way the characters and their emotions are portrayed really reinforces that statement.
This game is so underrated me as a kid always saw this AC but never wanted to play it in the Xbox store and just kept playing the popular ones until I finally tried the remastered version and fell in love especially because the history going on in the game was also happening in my history class in 7th grade it was just great
Shay is a great protagonist! I loved the story’s twist into a Templar character, the characters from the North America Saga. Having more time of Haytham Kenway was great, the best villain in my opinion. I was very disappointed when it ended so quickly. This game definitely could have been a top tier entry if given the right time and resources…
Yea it seems haythem gets more time than Edward lol. I wish they do a new review because I found out it's like the lowest rated one in the series. I hate reviewers anyways, they dislike for no reason.
Rogue is my absolute favorite AC game. Real annoyed they never followed up on Shay and Arno encountering each other or even him going up against Connor.
The extremely short development cycle could explain my issues with the game. My issues being Shay stealing the manuscript without properly talking to Achilles‘ after he barged in yelling, the Assassin storyline being too short since I did not care when I killed Shay’s old buddies other than them being Assassins, and Adéwalé‘s death not being emotional enough for the player who may have played ACIV and love Adéwalé.
The story feels more like Templar propaganda than a story of a rogue assassin. The assassins are cartoonishly evil in this. Reminds of Borgia😂. Cartoonish villains.
@@PaynetoTheMax-gg1hu A reimagining/remake could allow for an improved and more developed story that is less "Templar propaganda." Since Black Flag is being remade, they could reuse the assests for a Rogue remake
I'll never forget getting Rogue for Christmas and being slightly confused because I hadn't seen a single trailer for the game. Now it's one of my favorite AC games
As someone who played Rogue before Black Flag, I have long held to how criminally underrated Rogue was. I understand why people gravitate more to Black Flag, but there is a gem in Rogue. Also it's the best optimised (on pc) of the whole North American saga, which is even more impressive given their short dev cycle.
I bought both at launch and played unity all day after school. I played rogue the next day and just fell in love with rogue. It’s my favourite AC game to date
My thought is it would be much better if both are delayed so they got time they needed to develop. For Rogue, they would've fleshed out the story to be better paced, for Unity, they would've fix the performance issues
You can actually feel how the story is shortened and how with more exposition the story could be the best, watching how shay feels after Lisbon, Achilles story how shay becomes a templar etc.
Honestly AC Rogue is one of my favorite games because it not only ties in the North American and unity, as well as Black flag mechanics. But it gave us the different POV of an assassin turned Templar. Wish Ubisoft did more of this
Shay is so much more likeable than the other assassins. He was betrayed, left for dead, then rose to take down the hypocritical Assassin Brotherhood. I also think he has the coolest weapons - a musket, pistols and swords. The bows in the newer games are ok, but the guns/rifles are more fun IMO. I do think the world for Unity is awesome, but can't get into playing a character who is lovestruck (ironically) by a Templar. I also think the ship battles are underrated and cooler than the newer games; I enjoy small things like capturing the shanties and hearing how they sound once on the ship. Finally, the time period of the 1700s/1800s is a better setting. The Egyptian / Roman / Viking eras are ok, but I personally prefer the more modern eras as a playground / learning environment.
We are dealing with memories, the most self-serving aspect of ourselves. This is how Shay, at the time he conceived a child (after the opening of Unity at earliest), saw himself, his past and the people in it. This could have been an excellent way to explore the idea of the memory cheats, that things aren’t quite as we remember them.
@@jbcatz5 I'm on two minds about that concept. On the one hand, genetic memories can record one's birth, as we've seen with Ezio and obviously he isn't going to remember that himself and have no view on it. But on the other hand, we've seen evidence that times of high emotion can affect the Animus or the genome itself. Like with Ezio again, The attack on Monteriggioni prevented progression and the Cristina memories could come to the surface with the slightest trigger.
Not to be a nerd, but Shay has an air rifle. That's also what I like about him. He's got a good looking weapon and it stays with him unlike the other games where you can pick up a musket but can't hang on to it.
The reason I love it so much is because it was my first AC game I finished, as well as being partly in my home country and the only game where you can play as a templar. + the surprise link with Unity.
Im playing through Rogue right now. Only played it one time before when it came out for the Xbox360 and all I did was rush through the story to get to Unity. MAN now that I’m actually really playing it and exploring everything this game is sooo great
If it was given the buget of a full game i think it would've been better than Black Flag. Shay is my favorite character in the series, the idea of a ex Assassin was such a cool idea and i loved it as kid.My biggest issue though with Rouge was its length because I was begging for more my first time playing and it ended up being the first AC game i 100% because of that
Rogue is in my top 3 ACs. It's thought provoking that an Assassin feel indebted and be taken in by the Templars. That plus the setting, French and Indian War, naval combat/forts way better than in AC4, and sailing in the ice packed North Atlantic... it's like an explorer fantasy. You just know Shay killing Arno's dad was an after-thought to tie the games together because of Bellec. Young Bellec was an active Assassin and French soldier is in the same time and place as Shay during Rogue, yet he never mentions Shay or the events of Rogue in a recognisable way. He was also the Brotherhood's liaison in the French Army during the French and Indian War, which makes him twice an enemy to Shay. So where was Bellec while Shay was taking fort after fort from the French and raiding their camps and killing assassins? Shay was the famous renegade who drove Bellec out of the colonies, killed off most of the Assassins and even killed his pupil Charles Dorian, so Bellec would have made a great antagonist in Rogue and would have carried a lasting grudge against Shay in Unity. There is also the question of Bellec searching for those "messages from the past", which sounds a lot like what Haytham was doing in the American Colonies in AC3. So was Bellec doing the same for the Assassins and continued that task in France? All these loose threads are wasted storytelling potential. Like you said the games weren't developed with any of that in mind.
Playing through rogue now for the first time in 5 years. I'm trying to grab all the collectibles and do the side stuff - I did not realize (nor would have guessed) it was the red headed stepchild of the franchise. I remember it coming out for previous gen, but thought nothing of it then. It is a seriously good game.
when i was younger, I didn’t have a next gen console so i got this game instead of unity (obv). And as an adult now that i’ve played both, I find myself continually going back to Rogue to play with the Naval Campaigns and renovations/economic zones vs Unity’s end-game gameplay
finally someone who is praising this game! As someone who loves Rogue and it is arguably my favourite game! the whole "Templars are good" nerrative was so mind blowing at the time. imagine as a gamer you play a series for years & love being an assassin and you are think you are doing the right thing. then you realize that you may not be right. I might have to play it again!
I read a lot on the internet about a remake of an AC Black Flag, and I think: why not make a remake of the rogue, and turn it into a bigger game, expand more on the game's story, the characters, the maps, ad mechanics, make what Ubisoft Sofia didn't have the time or resources to do
My journey with Assassin's Creed began in 2017. At the time I was reading up on Origins because the hype was huge, did some research on the series and ACIII caught my attention. And since my local GameStop only had the Americas Trilogy for PS3, that's what I've got, and decided to play chronologically. Started of with IV, and about half way through it, one day I was walking pass a yard sale and there I saw Rogue, might as well been brand new but they guy only wanted 10$ for it. After finishing IV, time came I've put the disc in, the main theme that plays gives me nice chills every time (back then I didn't play II so didn't know it was a modified Ezio's theme) I had so much fun with Rogue, to a point my wife told me I spoke with an light Irish accent here and there without realizing it. There's something comforting about this game, and the music is one of those things, I mean a night sky, aurora borealis, sound of waves and cold wind... maybe I'm biased because I live in the north east and enjoy cold and drab environment during the winter. Still, the story got me hooked and collecting everything and getting a platinum trophy was way more enjoyable than Black Flag for some reason. And the environments had a huge part probably, I mean in IV no matter where I was everything looked kinda the same, palm trees, sand, lots of flora and fauna. Rogue had New York which was ACIII size but a bit different from the original, there were forests and mountains, and further north the River Valley everything was covered in snow, not to mention the Atlantic ocean and glaciers floating around. Honestly I can ramble about this game for hours.
To me, if you accept its length and other rushed shortcomings, it is the pinnacle of old school AC gameplay. As a package, black flag is better but there is something special about Shay´s tale that feels more at home in the AC universe.
If this game was longer, they should have had Shay realising that the Templars are exactly the same as the Assassin's, so he leaves them too and goes full rogue. He could even create his own order who believe that the pieces of Eden should be left alone completely and they try to stop both the other factions from getting them
Considering that the historical setting is the seven years war it is definitely a prequel also the very beginning of assassin’s creed 3 Takes Place during the seven years war, when Connors village is burned down
3:13 i didn't know it existed. i only realized when i went to buy unity (years after release), and saw it on the store page and thought. "huh, whats that". then was blown away that i was only now discovering a mainline AC game that i somehow had never heard of
For me Rogue is the game with the most wasted potential in the series. It's a shame Rogue didn't get a longer development time and instead got released on the same day as Unity but on older generation consoles. There also really should have been a crossover between Shay and Arno in Unity.
I haven't seen the whole video yet, but here are my two cents. Rogue is really underrated as a game. It had a good story and the different perspective was a breath of fresh air. The protagonist was easy to support and likeable. The problem was in the time skips. See, Shay's first friendly interaction with the Templars was just after he was betrayed by the Assassins. Granted the conflict was set up, but they could've taken more time to convey to the player the growing bond between Shay and the Templars. Even the conflict between the two factions could have been portrayed better. Then, Shay's jump to the Templars would've made more sense. I understand not giving the Assassins the piece of Eden, but he had no reason to join the Templars because of that. Otherwise, I loved the game. Very similar to Black Flag but some gameplay changes like the Parkour bits and the stalkers made the game very unique.
I feel like in many ways this game took many features from AC Black Flag and improved on them. I'm not saying that I think Black Flag is bad, however it definitely feels like this game is an improvement on the gameplay engine. The ship combat feels better, the stealth feels better, the parkour feels better and the economy feels better.
You can tell the passion that was put into the game, and honestly barring some of the cliches, this game was even more full of Assassin style elements. Bascially I'm saying you felt like an Assassin, and you felt like a Templar. The soundtrack was one of the best I've heard and the sea shanties and tavern songs! (The tavern songs are some of the best I've heard). I read reports or somewhere that Ubisoft actually loves Shay, and would love to do a sequel. But given where the series direction has gone, a game focusing on the Templars, would actually perhaps revive the AC lore in so many different ways. I'm glad the game got made, but all the characters had such terrific voice acting, that I would do a sequel to Unity, and a remake of Rogue to basically expand the story, make the open world feel more large (not too big) but enough that you would be able to experience what Rogue had to limit. At the end, it is an under-rated game, but more importantly its the second AC game that let you play as an Templar. More templar games!
Rogues smaller story was really what always bothered me not really the smaller open-world I feel if the combat was just given a bit more tweaking as well as a few different things to be used for stealth it would have been a way more solid game
It did the job for me. After getting all these games year after year, i liked that Rogue was just Blackflag in the snow. Like a really dope DLC. Amazing they made this in 8 months
Rogue is in my top 3 AC games. I think that the shorter story is to it's benefit. Most AC games' stories are bloated and thus difficult to follow. In addition to the concise story I loved the setting. I think I spent more time exploring Rogue than Unity and about the same amount of time exploring as Black Flag despite it being a shorter game than both of those. It's difficult to pick a favorite AC game, but Rogue is definitely a strong contender.
Just played through the AC Rogue storyline for the first time. Nothing but amazing. And now knowing they had such little time to work on it, I'm even more impressed.
Cool video man. Really like it. Also, may I recommend a video where you compare the notoriety system in the games. Like which game has the most aggressive enemies. I think it would be good
For me, Rouge was an expansion to black flag and that was awesome. More excellent naval combat, more exploring, more evrything. Playing from a templar view was actually interesting. You are with the people in power in a chaotic world and have to maintain peace and order. It actually felt very convincing how you had go to hunt these radical "freedom fighter"Assassin-maniacs. From templar-perspective they were barely more than hurdles to overcome on the way to a more peacefull society. As long as i could LOOK like an Assassin (or alternatively the Frontier outfit) i was happy.
Back when I was young, my parents bought me an Xbox 360 for Christmas (It came with Skylanders Giants, and that was my JAM) and barely a year later my dad bought an Xbox One. I had played Black Flag a crap ton with my Dad, and my dad was big into Assassin's Creed since the start. When the 2014 AC games came out, my dad bought Unity for himself (I wasn't really allowed to touch the XB1) and he got me Rogue. I would sometimes watch my dad play Unity, but I never got the chance to try it. But I played Rogue to completion so many times. and seeing how Rogue directly ties into Unity at the end blew my 10 year old mind. This game (along with black flag) have such a dear place in my heart as being some of my most played games of all time as a kid.
I was one of the few who got Rogue instead of Unity (since I didn't have a next gen console yet) and I still consider it one of my favorites, just wish it got more resources
i remember playing rogue. I didn't hate it but i felt like there is so many things it could've been. From showing more of Haytham to actually letting making the enemy assassins more challenging. It could've been a lot. Yet failed to be much. But I guess that's better than nothing at all.
@@MisfitMods im only a year out of highschool but i was really broke back then and i would only be able to get pre used, retuned, and resold copys of games and rogue was there for cheap so i got it then fell in love with the franchise,
@@Ruler_Of_Elves honestly that’s a unique way to be introduced to the series, the one game where you play as a Templar (aside from the start of AC3 I think)
Hated Unity... Never knew that Togue existed until this time last year when I seen it on sale on the Xbox store n I was like "There's an assassin's creed I haven't played??" *buys it immediately* Ended up loving it and my place of residence (Newfoundland) was a pretty central point in the game, dude I was loving it. Still do. Great vid bro ❤
I was really looking forward to seeing things from Templars side and making us question who is good and who is evil. Most evil is done with good intentions. I really wish they explored this concept more.
Rogue, with the proper time, development and resources WOULD have been the greatest entry to this franchise. I will defend this opinion to my dying breath. The concept was brilliant, A whole new enemy type dynamic. Add in Unity's graphics, Flesh out the story. Then a game that ties in 3 mainline installments from the Franchise plus Having Haytham Kenway........ Ubisoft would have basically Peaked with this series
I hope they make another Templar spin offs, or at least some DLCs, love to see the story from different perspective. Or maybe in the future we will see AC game where you could choose which side to fight for, with both different characters and its canon
I literally didn’t know Rogue existed until about 2021. I had played everything up until Unity bc I didn’t get the next gen console, I was the exact target audience for Rogue lmao
The new elements of Rogue, like the stalker assassins that can pop out and kill you if you don’t watch out, were great. The biggest issue I have with it, as someone who only played through all of the AC games over the course of the past year or so, is that Rogue is largely just a re-skin of Black Flag. There’s more about the game that is the same than there is different. It’s a fun game for sure, but playing Black Flag and then starting Rogue right up after it feels like more of the same stuff I’d been doing for 35 hours in Black Flag. Had Rogue had a chance to develop more and come out a year or so later than it had, it would have fared much better.
The thing that always blew my mind about rogue was how even though this is supposed to be the Templar game, we never see any for Templar arguments in the game. Against assassins, at least for the time, sure we see that but what about the for templars arguments.
I remember after I picked up both rogue and unity I spent about 3 hours on unity and stopped because of the terrible bugs and performance, couldn't even play coop with my friends so the next day I booted up my 360, played rogue and made it to seq 6 before I took a break but still wanted to play more rogue. The story was more interesting off the bat and the gameplay was more of 4 so I was pretty happy, then I beat the game and pushed through Unity cause I wanted to see Shay in it, was disappointed but, eh.
Ac rouge is one of the most underrated games with the most underrated protagonist. Black flag is my and the people fav ac game. My second favorite as ac rouge. Ac rouge goat.
For me, Rogue was my first AC game, low priced at a pawn shop. I had and still have very little idea of the history, but it was amazing to me. The graphics looked awesome to me, the characters and especially the music was just as great. The fighting was unlike someone who grew up with the PS2 stars, it was such a breath of breath of fresh air, the sneaking and the hunting was eye opening. I loved sailing around listening to Sea Shanties and to the music. I have Odyssey and while the graphics are great, music too, but it feels too drawn out and very much longer than Rogue. I just dusted off the Xbox 360 and bought Assassins Creed II and look forward to playing the older titles, but I doubt they’ll beat Rogue as my favorite
Rogue was like a blessing for me bc back then i didn't have any hopes of getting a ps4 anytime soon. One day i just stumbled upon rogue in a store and got really excited that there's an assassin's Creed for ps3 that i haven't played yet. I think that is why I love it so much. It distracted me from unity and the fact that i couldn't play it
Rogue is my second favorite because of its story, Syndicate is my favorite because of its time period & aesthetics. 3 is my third favorite for a number of factors. Then after that it’d be Brotherhood, then Unity, then Blackflag.
It remind me of the philosophical aspect of the ideological conflict between the templars and the assassin that made the first assassin creed game with Altair during the crusade that made it so special and unique that was miss after the sequels that focus only on adventure(ezio trilogy), and later the sci fi/fantasy aspect in vahahala, odyssey, and origin. The best parts of assassin greed 1 was that the templars villians when you have a final conversation of them after assassinating them had made alot of a great points, criticism, and sympathetic qualities that question if they are the bad guy or if the assassin's weren't all that different from them with the methods use since both assassin's and the templars are both sides of the same coin cut from the same cloth. Something that was crucially missing in the ezio trilogy since the Italian templars such as the Borgias family were stereotypical villians. The closes we ever got that the assassin's were wrong or moral questionable and the templars were right or necessary was in assassin 3, syndicate and unity.

The betrayal of shay and cold weather of North America and Canada, and the music of the game have matched together perfectly. It may not be like others but it is one you will never forgot.
To me Rouge was the last hurrah of the old school assassin creed games before the experimental transition phase of unity and syndicate and (in my opinion) later when they “ruined” AC with the rpg games focused more on combat
Thats crazy on the development cycle. I bought both games on launch but didnt play rogue until i finished unity...and i was blown away. I have the black flack logo tattooed on me so you can probably figure out which one i enjoyed more...lol
I loved Rogues whole aesthetic and charm. The snow covered north atlantic is much prettier than sandy deserts imo. And everyone has cool coats and designs. Literally every side character has a cool design (too bad Gist's voice is so damn annoying) All of the sublte nods to other games is so cool, like Haytham shooting Achilies' leg is how he gets his limp in AC 3. It's all so neat. This was one of the first AC games I ever owned, and I love it to bits!
Irish protagonist had me from the opening. I do wish that they had time to actually really develop the relationship with the assassin's. I always felt that there was some adult chemistry between him and Hope, and the Native Assassin (I'm sorry I won't even try to spell his name) was definitely a teacher while Liam was supposed to be his best friend. They obviously made it work. But with some real time I would put money on it being more towards the top assassin's creed. Achilles was always a stubborn fool. But Ubisoft learning anything other than how to piss off fans😂😂😂😂😂 okay.
Ac rouge was my first assasins after the orginal which I plaed on my psp , I couldn't get the ps4 at that time so AC was my best choice and it is safe to say it was indeed one of my best choices ever. It is still to this date one of my favourite games and from back then it holds a very special place in my heart!
I really like the idea of rouge coming out after unity. With a more flushed out story or even making it a 2 part story, One that ends with the injury of Achilies and the other Shays adventures in France leading up to us learning he was the one who killed Arnos father
I really think rogue had the best story and really fit very well with assassins creed 3's story by explaining some of achillies's actions and comments he gives to Connor about the templars under Hathem's order and filled in the gaps perfectly. I also liked that we got to see what Hathem and the templars were up to before Connor became involved before the lesson Achillies had to learn.
Rogue is really good for what it is it is my tied favourite with unity. I think the story is one of the better ones and the gameplay is amazing because of the black flag gameplay
This one I had first before I was able to afford my ps4 and unity so those two have always been at the top of my list! I always like black flags gameplay but the historical setting of AC3 and rogue gave me both I will always love it
When AC Rogue first came out I remember thinking that the biggest missed opportunity was it's story. If we keep Shay turning on the assassins in the past time line while at the same time had a new modern-day Templar working at abstergo and also became disillusioned with them by exploring the company innerworkings. I think we could have had the foundation of a new trilogy story-wise.
I actually like AC rogue's story and concept a lot. I still wish it had a higher budget and attention though...could've been a really unique Assassins creed game

Most game assets and game mechanics are recycled. I think of the game more of a story DLC than a proper AC title, similar to GTA IV EFLS.

Your taking about the prolog in unity and yes we need a game that the assassins would be Thomas de Carton
It’d be cool to actually play the main antagonist, instead of kind of the good guy like Shay Cormac.
Damn, I must have been tired that day. I don't know why I didn't understand this.
Nothing is true. All is permitted.
Just completed 100% achievements on Rouge, and I must say, I really liked this game, Shay was so badass
That grenade launcher was one of the most badass weapons in ac
rogue is definitely in top 3 ac games for me. shay is such an interesting character. too bad the game has such a short story.
They should've delayed both games so unity didn't have as much bugs on release and maybe a longer story for rogue, but I still like both
Shay is such a charismatic and emotionally relatable character. I saw someone in the comments describe rogue as "comfortable" and I believe that the realistic way the characters and their emotions are portrayed really reinforces that statement.
This game is so underrated me as a kid always saw this AC but never wanted to play it in the Xbox store and just kept playing the popular ones until I finally tried the remastered version and fell in love especially because the history going on in the game was also happening in my history class in 7th grade it was just great
Me too, I also bought the remastered version.
And he's the only one to not wear those dumb, out of place hoods anymore.
@@georgeprchal3924They are counter productive, aren't they?
@@harryfox7488 they may have worked for Altair but just seem conspicuous for everyone else.
Also it's the best optimised (on pc) of the whole North American saga, which is even more impressive given their short dev cycle.
noted might be trying it on PC then
Not the best optimised on pc cos you can only play on 60 fps unlike assassin’s creed brotherhood u can even play on 140 fps
I played rogue without a video card and it still ran well
@@sportstarweirdo710I think that's just the fps cap, I'm pretty sure you can remove the cap as far as I can remember.
@@sportstarweirdo710 Brotherhood is a part of North American saga?
I bought both at launch and played unity all day after school. I played rogue the next day and just fell in love with rogue. It’s my favourite AC game to date
AC Rogue looked to me like they combined AC III and AC IV. And the story is really great. I enjoyed playing this game.
Canada? Portugal?

Im playing through Rogue right now. Only played it one time before when it came out for the Xbox360 and all I did was rush through the story to get to Unity. MAN now that I’m actually really playing it and exploring everything this game is sooo great
Tbh i wouldn’t mind a rogue sequel one where you now play as shay’s son after shay got beaten his living daylights by arno at a retirement home
After finishing IV, time came I've put the disc in, the main theme that plays gives me nice chills every time (back then I didn't play II so didn't know it was a modified Ezio's theme)
I had so much fun with Rogue, to a point my wife told me I spoke with an light Irish accent here and there without realizing it.
Rogue had New York which was ACIII size but a bit different from the original, there were forests and mountains, and further north the River Valley everything was
covered in snow, not to mention the Atlantic ocean and glaciers floating around.
He could even create his own order who believe that the pieces of Eden should be left alone completely and they try to stop both the other factions from getting them
The ending was so rushed, I thought there would be way more emotion when Liam saw Shay again.
My favorite AC. Listening to last of Mohicans themes on repeat while running through the forests is amazing to me.
To be fair, Shay was at first distrustful of George Munro after clearing the first gang hideout in NY.
They also should've fleshed out his former Assassins buddies.
0:42 did anyone saw the man disappear??
That make me laugh 😂
Rogue was a great one, wish it was longer.
I was one of the few who got Rogue instead of Unity (since I didn't have a next gen console yet) and I still consider it one of my favorites, just wish it got more resources
making this game with low graphics gave the igpu users like me one more AC game which we could play on our gpus
i remember playing rogue. I didn't hate it but i felt like there is so many things it could've been. From showing more of Haytham to actually letting making the enemy assassins more challenging. It could've been a lot. Yet failed to be much. But I guess that's better than nothing at all.

The game that begins on my city...Lisboa ❤️
Got the game on sale for $9 on the psn store recently. loved it . Wish it was longer
I loved Rogue. The concept had so much potential. I would gladly replay it
The thing that always blew my mind about rogue was how even though this is supposed to be the Templar game, we never see any for Templar arguments in the game.

I got this game when I was in the 7th grade. Now I’m 4 years out of high school. Can’t believe it’s already been that long.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much i liked rogue. But as an irishman i automatically like shay.
I was wondering do you script your videos before editing your videos? I really like your approach is why I ask.
I wish they had more of the bloopers at the end of the vid somewhere, I always crack up when I see it!
It’s crazy to me this was supposed to be the lesser game to unity and actually ended up being better.
The game was made by a Bulgarian development studio which as a Bulgarian suprises me a lot I had no idea the game was made so close to home
The closes we ever got that the assassin's were wrong or moral questionable and the templars were right or necessary was in assassin 3, syndicate and unity.
i havent yet played ac rogue i always wanted to play it but bcs im 13 i dont have any money but this video showed me some cool things about ac rogue so i might buy it soon love the vids your my fav youtuber and bye
The betrayal of shay and cold weather of North America and Canada, and the music of the game have matched together perfectly. It may not be like others but it is one you will never forgot.
Rogue was awesome and honestly should have been its own project instead of a DLC pack leading into Unity. That's my only problem with it.
To me Rouge was the last hurrah of the old school assassin creed games before the experimental transition phase of unity and syndicate and (in my opinion) later when they “ruined” AC with the rpg games focused more on combat
True. In other words it had the most potential to have the most potential. If that makes sense lol
3:48 the irony is both Shay and Anakin are both fallen ones in there respective orders.
AC Rogue is my favorite AC game simply because Shay is goated
that ending. lol
I was playing rogue since I was 2nd year elementary and until now I still play it and I will die defending it and teach it to my kids
I always like black flags gameplay but the historical setting of AC3 and rogue gave me both I will always love it
This was an awesome video bro ❤💥
When AC Rogue first came out I remember thinking that the biggest missed opportunity was it's story. If we keep Shay turning on the assassins in the past time line while at the same time had a new modern-day Templar working at abstergo and also became disillusioned with them by exploring the company innerworkings. I think we could have had the foundation of a new trilogy story-wise.
The mocap blooper at the end omg😂
This game is like the Halo 3 ODST of the AC franchise, for better and worse
