There are a few reasons for it; Unity and Rogue released basically at the same time, but Rogue was basically the same exact thing as Black Flag, while Unity was a next gen game. Also, since Rogue's content is 90% reused from Black Flag, it had to introduce some new gameplay elements or at least make the story and characters more engaging to keep people's attention. I remember this game came out roughly the same time as AC Unity, and because Unity was the new generation PS4 game, it got all the advertising. Most people I spoke to didn't even know Rogue existed at all. People still call Black Flag their favourite AC game without knowing about this one. But when you play through Black Flag and go straight into this one like I did, you notice the mechanics are significantly improved. One of the biggest changes I noticed early was the range on ship cannons was much higher. Really underrated, unknownish game. BF was my favourite too before I played Rogue.
Maybe this controversial but my favourite assassin's Creed has either been Black flag or rogue but I think rogue more solely for the reason that you're in Canada, as Ubisoft is a Canadian company and time proudly Canadian it kind of upsets me that they never actually made a game where they addressed that they were in Canada hell I'd love to be able to go through like the first version of my City My City was a colony by the British in Canada before Canada existed (edit, kinda lied assassin's Creed 2 will always be my true favorite and the most nostalgic)

Underrated game. Beserking the guards and dogs is the greatest thing ever. And the npc civilians will sometimes shoot money out of their hands out of fear or shock, and cause complete chaos.
This game was also well optimized. It ran smooth like a butter. For those who were not able to run ac4 in their PC properly. This game let those peeps experience those naval combats. I Just wish it had more memories to explore.
Wish we got more of Shay. He is one of the very few characters in this series who was primarily guided by his morals rather than a creed. He retained his humanity no longer what side he played. He was a good guy through and through.

The only bad about this game, is that Ubisoft focused more on the horrifically buggy at launch AC Unity instead of actually focusing their efforts more on the AC game that had such a different twist to the story and overall feeling to it, Rogue, which could have been such a masterpiece, God, such a mistake, to this day I still wish that we would get some kind of Templar ONLY game with Haytham Kenway, following his stories about how Reginald's mercenaries killed his father, how Haytham joined the Templar cause, all his important missions against the Assassins pre- American Revolutionary War and in the time of the war as well, the missions he had with Shay (and at that point they would have an opportunity for a big old 10 hours long Shay Cormac DLC which I would 100% no questions asked) and how his story ended, murdered by his own son (they could make a really cool thing in which you fight as Haytham against Connor, of course it would be a scripted loss, but they could make it work as a bittersweet end to the game). But allas, we will just get more soulless RPGs, have a good day.
Rogue kinda changed my mindset as a kid where I thought heros were always the good guys and completely made me turn my back on the creed when I was 14 and thought that shit was real lmao
By playing from AC 1 to rogue I got the impression that the assassins are well meaning but their ideas are very utopic while the templars are more realistic about humanity corruption
I played this game a few weeks ago, I think literally a week before this video came out. Rogue was definitely the best assassins creed I’ve played beside the original

Happy to hear that I was not alone in having enjoyed AC Rogue. It was a great game to play. Really enjoyed the history behind the characters and the story. Cheers!
God I wish rogue was fleshed out more.
They are French not Canadian
@@RCXDerp I didn't know the North Atlantic was in France, yes there are French people but historically the French and British people that were occupying those territories at the time did become the Canadian civilization and you are still sailing around the landmass of what is now Canada so sorry I wasn't super specific for you pal
@@RCXDerp and actually Shay Patrick Cormac is an Irish name, Canada has a lot of Irish and Scottish heritage as well such as McCullough's McManus McGaver and one of us know McDonald (no sir John A McDonald not the fastfood) Canada is a diverse country made a up of multiple ethnicities and races the main ones being French British Irish Scottish and indigenous peoples
@GenshinStar also "a rant absolutely nothing" just said my favorite assassins creed now stfu n get a life
I remember this being the only assassins creed I played for a king time whether it be lighter rating or was the only one I could find I always enjoyed it after beating a good bit of the story and having a big map to free roam in which is all I liked as a kid so glad to see some love finallt
damn, I really miss the assassinating in Assassin's Creed.
And the Stealth.
I loved how when you are “infiltrating” the mansion when you betray the brotherhood you can see assassins sneaking around you preping for the next sequence.
The moment when John Rogue said "It's Rogueing Time" and then went Rogue truly exists, one of the catch phrases ever
Yeah....these jokes arent old and annoying at all.
@@justinwainwright5069 i find it funny when John Complainer comes and says "t's complaining time", then proceeds to complain all over something he could've just ignored
haha funi original joke
i bought the AC3 remastered bc it was a old favorite n i had no idea it had a immediate connection to rogue , til now
For me it was the opposite.
Played it when it first came out and absolutely loved it.
Then tried to replay it last year and put it down after a few missions.
I don't think Rogue has aged particularly well. Black Flag is still awesome tho.
I love the remix version of the ezio theme in rogue, makes you feel the which side do you follow in the chase of peace.
Only thing that suck about this game
It was too short :(
I played and beat this game 5 times. Yes it's underrated, but for me it's in my top 5 list of my fav assassin's Creed games. So good to see good ole Kev play it, with his good ole smart Alec remarks that made me appreciate this channel.
fond memories of watching my brother play this game and calling out "rogue wave!" right as the crew would yell it.
6:45 I live in Halifax county Virginia 😭😭😭 hearing you say Halifax is so strange
For anyone that doesn't know, you can kill civilians in this game when you become a templar!
OMG I love this game so much, I platinumed it ahh, love your video! I'm glad you had fun with it hopefully we can see more 😊
I think this game is So underrated by community But idk Why its just great game i am playing it
I dont know why some people hated it, the weapens, the outfits, and who didnt atleast want to play for the other side for once. Anyway great video as always
Imo this was one of the best made assassin's Creed, story was perfect, the the protagonist was interesting and you developed a relationship to him, absolutely great gameplay.

Missed the chance to say "the table really turned on me"
that would've been slick
@@Kevduit Only if that table had Crisco on it. Otherwise, that's pretty blunt.
I wish assassins creed just stayed in the past and never did the whole animus thing
You were just in an animuss
Animuss
"An-i-muss"
Love that part
I started to replay this game last week ! And I did the same mistake with the jump after that sycronisation sequence in new york !
I appreciate how this game is finally getting the love it deserves.
Wish we got more of Shay. He is one of the very few characters in this series who was primarily guided by his morals rather than a creed. He retained his humanity no longer what side he played. He was a good guy through and through.
I like it so much honesty, the story is unique since we didnt follow the story of a assassins here, he become templar.
The assassins creed serie is one of the best game series ever, u should make more videos of them
I am gonna ignore 'you never played' in the title because me and my 38,878,004 doubloons DEMANDS to differ 😎 I still love this game and all the nostalgic memories it gave me, I still got the OG Xbox 360 disc case as well 🔥
The only bad about this game, is that Ubisoft focused more on the horrifically buggy at launch AC Unity instead of actually focusing their efforts more on the AC game that had such a different twist to the story and overall feeling to it, Rogue, which could have been such a masterpiece, God, such a mistake, to this day I still wish that we would get some kind of Templar ONLY game with Haytham Kenway, following his stories about how Reginald's mercenaries killed his father, how Haytham joined the Templar cause, all his important missions against the Assassins pre- American Revolutionary War and in the time of the war as well, the missions he had with Shay (and at that point they would have an opportunity for a big old 10 hours long Shay Cormac DLC which I would 100% no questions asked) and how his story ended, murdered by his own son (they could make a really cool thing in which you fight as Haytham against Connor, of course it would be a scripted loss, but they could make it work as a bittersweet end to the game). But allas, we will just get more soulless RPGs, have a good day.
if this game was made with unity systems it would have been even greater
Rogue kinda changed my mindset as a kid where I thought heros were always the good guys and completely made me turn my back on the creed when I was 14 and thought that shit was real lmao
Turning your whole back on the creed is insane
By playing from AC 1 to rogue I got the impression that the assassins are well meaning but their ideas are very utopic while the templars are more realistic about humanity corruption
@@naty8646Exactly this, I think the Assassins are just a little naive. The templars, while much more cynical, probably have the best solution.
"now that's an assassin's creed"
I played this game a few weeks ago, I think literally a week before this video came out. Rogue was definitely the best assassins creed I’ve played beside the original
My first and favourite AC game
Rouge is my favorite AC game honestly, i know its weird pick but I always thought the Templars were cooler than the assassins tbh
So Lisbon in 1755 was one of the holiest cities in the world, coincidentally the earthquake that resulted in over 70,000 deaths happened during 'all saints day', meaning that many of the 200,000 citizens were in church during one of the deadliest earthquakes in human history
I triple dog dare you to play “Spec ops:The line”
That guy that went flying off of his boat was like. "I must go his majesty needs me!"
I loved this one! I recently purchased a bunch of old AC games on Steam. Just finished Black Flag & bout to start this one. Good stuff!
i love this game because i love the templars
The Viking Swords and outfit is Awesome in this game and the Medieval Templar Armour and Swords are cool too and the katana and tanto
I still remember back in the day when i used to have a PS3, i only played this game even though i had many other. i 100% completed the game with everything unlocked and nothing else to do. it was just so much fun
I am at 14:24 and I am wondering.... bro are you ever going to get out of the prologue?😂😂
Even Rouge is ten times the pirate game Skull and Bones is.
Omg ik he was gonna have a ball with this one lol. Another favorite btw
This just seems like AC Black Flag 2
24:02 when you work with templars after this
gain drip
and civillians murder is unlocked
Crazy to see my steam review in a screenshot for a kevduit video lmao
i remember reading about this game before it came out and saying id never play it because you play as a templar, but im so glad i didnt stick to that, eventually i got it and tried it, and its to date one of if not my favorite assassins creed, its tough because revelations has such a special place in my heart but its close
Random Npc: i miss my……..
Any main character: so you have chosen death
