Connor was a beast and he fit the Assassin theme so well. An indian, tomahawk in hand, hunting, stealth, killing, scalping. It all fit for an Assassin. He was huge and fast with the brutality to match. They can't all be Ezio which is what makes the series so great I just wish the devs had developed him like they did with Ezio.

    • @Beery1962

Yet everyone would swear up and down that the Arkham games are the greatest, which while I did enjoy, felt like Batman was at his blandest, even after he got three games. Seriously give Connor gadgets, a utility belt and have him wear all black and you could hardly tell the difference. The only difference is that Connor is naive and that's it. So I don't understand how you can give Batman a pass and yet give Connor shit for the same reason.

I think the main orchestral theme of Assassin's Creed 3 is one of the most underrated pieces of music in the franchise. Two things make this game kick serious ass for me:
    1. The combat is brutal. Connor uses that tomahawk like an absolute butcher, and the animations are smooth, fluid, and enthralling to watch.
    2. The music, particularly the main theme, is phenomenal. It still remains my favorite piece of music from all of the AC games.

    • @CNSninja
      @CNSninja 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

The combat is honestly one of the weaker parts of the game. For a combat system to be so centrally and fundamentally built around fighting groups of enemies, you really need a parry that actually works. AC3 lacks that. Yeah, you can parry, but it only ever works maybe 45-60% of the time, and that's one of many MAJOR oversights like it.
Not to mention the controls suck because Ubisoft could never decide on a control scheme and just stick with it.

The one thing that I really disliked about AC3 was the bow mechanic, you cannot aim the bow without having your reticle on a target and it just really pissed me off (maybe it's been fixed now). But this bugged me so much that it caused me to dislike AC3.
But to be fair, I think if all AC games (1 - Syndicate) got a modern remake, the Ezio series would be the best IMO.

    • @chrismoore5333
      @chrismoore5333 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@agentmikster44 thats a fair view mate. I do believe (tho not certain) that the bow has free aim on the AC3 remake. Worth a check if you own it. And yh there is alot to love about the ezio games. Great free running based levels in amazing locations and awesome historical settings along with the brotherhood system that was so fun to use. However I suppose I love the modern day Desmond story in the ezio games, but ezio felt like a Mary sue to me. He's good at everything just because, he's the chosen one prophet just because, and all the ladies love him just because. He feels like he was written by a teenager to me. Put me off ezio games as that problem only changes by revelations, which as a game itself was not as good as brotherhood or 2. I feel as tho alot of ezio love comes from nostalgia, as the games are fairly repetitive when compared to almost every other game in the series besides unity, and the story is just a generic revenge plot without Desmond. Funny then how back when the games were new, ezios biggest fans always wanted to get rid of the modern day. In my view the Desmond storyline was what gave the seires its reputation for interesting story. I just simply can't see the huge appeal in ezio or his story without Desmond.

I remember always loving ACIII. From its setting to Connor’s incredibly interesting character (even though he was very different from Ezio and far more stoic), the first chapter of the Kenway saga has spent 9 years holding a special place in my heart.
I’ll add that as a kid my mind was blown by the Haytham twist, and I instantly fell in love with the naval combat. I was also incredibly interested in Connor’s heritage, as I was largely unfamiliar with the intricacies of any Native American culture, and this game was a good place to start familiarizing myself with them.
I think as time has gone on the historical aspect of AC has sunken into the background as the series has become more of an RPG and less of an open-world, exploration based series.

I don't think people realized that the single act of Ubisoft making Connor unabashedly Native was groundbreaking in itself, because they actually committed to it and did very thorough research. One major problem with this is the major age difference. In 1752, when the Rogue story begins, Shay is already like 25 or something. In 1776, when Arno is a child in Versailles with his father, Shay is already almost as old as Ezio in Revelations. Waiting another 20 years (the main story of Unity ends in 1795 I think) basically means that Shay is an old man at this point. I know that Altair was still very physically able in his late 50s, but that was partially because he had access to the Apple for decades. Shay didn´t have that luxury.

Me and my friend really amazed by the graphic, gameplay (tree parkour, equipment, ship, map, animals, and weather!) Especially the animation back in 2012.
From Ezio, to AC 3 the graphic really change a lot! When i saw snow, and theres snow step in different places when u walk on it was mesmerized. And then after this game, we get back flag. Ahhh the good old times.

3:47 I wouldn’t say “the game finally becomes fun” at this point it’s more of a “the game finally begins” I had a lot of fun seeing Connor grow up and knowing his father is a Templar made for the ultimate conflict throughout the rest of the story. Great story looking back at it now.

Love this game. My first Assassin's Creed. I thought the intro was really clever. I think it was more unique then having a short five minute mission and then a twist. It made the reveal of Haytham being a Templar much more impactful.
And Connor is definitely not a bland character. He had more depth than most of those witty characters who are written as charming. Forever my first and favorite AC game.
Additionally, all the modern day stories after this game were not interesting at all.

The only two downfalls to coming back to AC3 was the fact that the story and characters felt boring but also and mostly the second fact is that moving felt so slow and… normal well because I had recently played unity and in that game it really feels like no object or person stands as a problem for you are able to parkour around it if not over it.

8:10 when you talk about it gave us brits and insight on the american side of things. I never learned about either side in school or anything! This game made me want to know more about the American Revolution and that's 1 thing I love so much about all the assassinscreed games! The historical aspects and representation of real life characters is so interesting weather it be portrayed correctly or not! Personally I think if you enjoy a game where you just want to play for the story then this is the game for you but if you're looking for that open world experience then I'd say go for one of the more recent AC games as they are made for it a lot more.

This is my favorite Assassins Creed, but the buginess of the remaster really ruins it, particularly the music glitches where the more times you initiate combat, the louder the music gets, and synchronizing views points causes the music to keep playing until you fast travel or die. Plus Homestead Missions have the tendency to not give you special iron ingots. It's also annoying how if there are more than around ten guards near you, it'll despawn guards you're not looking at. This is even more odd given that (besides the issue of Special Iron Ingots) the Tyranny of King Washington doesn't have the music issue, and guards are allowed to attack you in much higher numbers, although they still do despawn.

I don't know about you, but I feel Connor and Arno deserve a sequel. How about some ideas? I could consider a sequel which would take place in Australia which I would call Assassins' Creed Down Under where 2 can be playable - Connor and Arno where they will band together to stop the Templars, convicts banished from Great Britain to Australia and stop slavery in Colonial America and Australia.
Then Connor (in Achilles' robes) along with his recruits join Djarrjuntjun, Aveline, Eliza, Robert Faulkner and Arno in the fight against James Cook and the templars who seek to colonise Australia.
There will be iconic Red Rock, Sydney, Adelaide, Swan River Colony (now called Perth), Van Dieman's Land (now called Tasmania) and Canberra. The start of the story will be Faulkner and Connor bringing his recruits, Aveline and Eliza on the Aquila to Australia. A flood of memories came to him.
"It's all a matter of perspective. There is no single path through life that's right and fair and does no harm."
"Your meddling in the revolution has caused us no small measure of grief. It cannot continue. Our work is too important." came another.
"Do you think that good King George lies awake at night hoping that no harm comes to his native subjects? Or that the people of the city care one whit about them? Oh, sure, the colonists are happy to trade when they need food or shelter or a bit of extra padding for their armies. But when the walls of the city constrict - when there's crops that need soil - when there's... when there's no enemy to fight - we'll see how kind the people are then."
"Thing is, boy, I can have what I seek. Had it, even. You? Your hands will always be empty."
"And we should live forever on castles in the sky."
"In your haste to save the world, boy - take care you don't destroy it!"
"The people never have the power. Only the illusion of it. And here's the real secret: they don't want it. The responsibility is too great to bear. It's why they're so quick to fall in line as soon as someone takes charge. They want to be told what to do. They yearn for it."
Upon arriving at Hawkesbury River, Connor and his allies witnessed the Indigenous clan under attack by European invaders.
      - - Connor's story - -
1779 Connor's Aboriginal apprentice of Gumatj tribe whom I'll name Djarrjuntjun assassinates James Cook while Connor and his allies (Stéphane, Clipper, Duncan, Deborah, etc...) combat against the incoming wave of enemies led
1782 Connor helped freed an Aboriginal Australian assassin of Gumatj tribe whom I'll name Djarrjuntjun might have a similar past like Connor, hailed from Southern parts of Western Australia.
27th January 1788 - Connor, and his allies combat Jack Weeks and the templars who displaced a group of convicts at Sydney Cove.
The recruits dealt with the convicts. 6th February 1788, The women convicts came ashore. There followed a ‘scene of debauchery and riot’, accompanied by a violent thunderstorm. Deborah and Aveline faced the women convicts who were involved in the massacre of Aboriginal Australians.

Phillip hoped to learn his language and so to promote good relations between Aboriginal Australians and Europeans. They assassins was about to free Arabanoo until they discovered him being a traitor.
Connor and Arno went on top of Australia's Red Rock where they met the spirits of his ma, his childhood friend, Altair, Haytham, Edward, Adewale, Bellec, Ezio, Arno's pa, Achilles and Elise.
1789 - Connor assassinated Arabanoo and questioned him as to why he sided with the Europeans. The Second Fleet.
Connor faced an Irish templar in combat named Caingneach O'Brien with similar intentions as William Johnson who sought to purchase lands to keep them safe. Caingneach sought to purchase the lands to keep the Aboriginal Australian safe. Before Connor assassinated him, this time, he decided to question Caingneach for his reasons and his intentions. He decided to spare him.
Then Shay, George Bass, Jack Weeks, George Johnston and Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney would imprison him for disobeying an order.
      1791 - The Third Fleet.
1794 - Hawkesbury and Nepean Wars and Lady Shore Mutiny.
14 December 1799 - Connor assassinated George Washington, to avenge the village.
      - - Arno's story - -
30 June 1800 - Arno assassinated Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney.
1801 - Following the discovery of Kangaroo Island by Flinders, lawless sealers known as "Straitsmen" came to the island. Their main work was hunting seals and whales. Connor, Arno, Aveline, Eliza, the recruits defended the seals and whales from the convicts. Once they had become established on the island, to satisfy their need for wives the sealers kidnapped Aboriginal women from Tasmania and the mainland and brought them there. Djarrjuntjun, Connor, Aveline and the recruits fought against the criminal gang who kidnapped the Aboriginal women. Caingneach warned them about those wanting to settle in South Australia. Connor gave him the permission to buy the lands. Unlike William Johnson, Caingneach was successful in purchasing South Australia.
5th February 1803 - Arno assassinated George Bass.
4 and 5 March 1804 - Connor and his allies fought the templars led by George Johnston throughout the Castle Hill Convict Rebellion. At that time Connor went to free a handful of slaves in Colonial America and Australia.

I think the introduction is amazing it really builds a connection with haytham and shows his morals and perspective and his friends. I think showing Connor’s development was boring but definitely needed it builds so much more depth in the story, it really collides with Haytham and Connor’s fight. It’s hard to pick a side when you have had so much time with both characters. Especially when the Templars make good points and really make you question if they are the bad guys and deserves to die, it’s a perfect example of the the Templar’s and assassins having the same goal just different approach at it.

When I first started my ac journey (started with ezio collection) after I beat the story for those 3 games, I bought rogue, and kept restarting on one of the ship missions because I didn't care for ships. so I stopped playing and went on a spending spree for other ac games (unity, origins, odyssey, syndicate, ac3, and valhalla. didn't even try valhalla, beat all other ones I listed) after I beat the stories for the games I bought, minus valhalla, I went back to rogue because I familiarized myself with the ship combat because of odyssey. I went back to rogue and actually upgraded my ship and beat the story. and the ending showed a different side of things. the assassins weren't always right, and the templars weren't always wrong, and playing the ezio trilogy makes the templars look ruthless and mean, but when you play as shay, it shows that they can be merciful.

I remember leading up to the release, when I saw that it would be set in a forest and you can climb trees and mountains, using enemies as human shields to block incoming fire, and using the rope dart to hang enemies from trees, using a bow and arroe for stealth kills, it looked amazing and the game didn't disappoint in my eyes. The overhauled gameplay with easier free running and climbing, new combat that was more fluent and had some incredible moves, being able to hunt either for crafting or selling or side quests, the Homestead which was like a Monteriggioni 2.0 which was much larger and had much more content, the crafting, the Naval missions, the forts, and so on... and overall I love the setting.
    9/10 game for me.

Oh my heart aches remembering the kind of storytelling this series was known for. I'm not sure I appreciated what a large part the incredibly well crafted stories of these games played in their overall success. Gives me feels in ways that at least Odyssey and Valhalla never came close. I actually really loved the surprising epilogue with Haytham, and the whole opera-opening. It was kept completely secret right up to launch, and as a diehard AC-fan it was so nice to get something awesome that we hadn't seen in trailers. The fact that Haytham is an amazing character also helps. I love the boat ride scenes on the way to America, climbing the crows nest at arrival, and the great shocker that Haytham was actually a templar. And I agree the scenes between Haytham and Connor were just amazing. Altair and Ezio were great, but this was peak AC for me.

One aspect of the older games that I've missed in the newer is the playground aspect. I used to just run around in AC2, B, R, and 3 and get into shenanigans that didn't accomplish anything. I was just playing in the game's sandbox. There was a similar feeling in Unity and Syndicate, but not to quite the same degree. The newer games feel much more like I need to be checking the various map icons off the list and don't have time to fool around with the AI. I thought for a while that it could just be me being older, but when I return to the older games, I still experience the playground effect.

I have played the game on a laptop with 8-12 fps. I have bought multiplied versions to be able to play some extra missions (like Benedict Arnold) or the Treason of George Washington.
I can't rank it, but I liked the game and I enjoyed it. And the main theme it's one of the best the series has offered.

Honestly AC 3 is an absolute masterpiece and easily the best damm AC game ever of all time. I just love everything about it,perfection and I absolutely love Connor he's easily relatable in every way,I'll never forget the hype and excitement back in 2012. Man what an experience it was AC 3 was just something else and way ahead of it's time.

5:12 There are already cracks in the Good Guy Bad Guy thing in the first AC ,Al Mualim and Altair have a discussion on Templar Goals being almost identical to their own and even as Desmond in the first AC Lucy explains that what the Templars want is good just like the Assassin’s only their methods differ, this has been a Key plot point since the first hours of the first game, but it is fully fleshed out in AC 3 more and flipped on its head in Rogue.

I have some very fond memories of playing this game when it came out. I also strangely enough really enjoyed playing the multiplayer with my friends back then. The only thing that kinda holds this game back for me is the protagonist. I just didn’t find him very interesting. Good game though!

Fun fact in the history as shown in haytham's section Washington was technically the spark that lit the powder keg that sparked the 7 years, which led to the American revolution

THANK YOU for pointing out Connor wasn’t after revenge when he joined the Creed. Literally everyone gets this wrong and it’s annoying. Connor joined to protect his village from future attacks by the colonists. It wasn’t until he met Achilles that he realized Charles Lee was a Templar. His main goal throughout the campaign was saving his village. Getting his revenge on Lee was secondary

AC3 was my favorite AC ever . Like period . Even when it dropped and I played the entire game 100%. At the time of its release it was my favorite one. Conor's story , the gameplay , the modern day story and gameplay. All of it in my opinion was better than all the previous ones and I still think it's my favorite today. U can't beat the most brutal assassins , who's a native during the American Revolution. Literally got chills when they dropped the first trailer and still do. I really have no idea where the hate came from

For me i liked the change in pace about family. Connor having to deal with his dad, Achilles acting as a foster father, and it gave us Edward and a game where we both see and cause the downfall of the Colonial assassins

AC 3 walked so that AC Black flag could run
the amount of features introduced in AC 3 that were later used in AC IV is huge. The ships for one... it was so good in AC3 they full on based one of the most (and justifyingly popular) AC games of all time

I disagree with you. Not about it being underrated because that part is very true. But Assassin's Creed 3 IS indeed the best in the series. It is the only one the ever really hooked me. It had the best combat, and I love the story and the setting of this one.

because ac3 was my first ac game i honestly didn’t care about the whole “ughhh it takes too long at start ughh” It was cool being in the American Revolution, I really liked playing as Haytham, I loved the twist, I love the actual real event your in such as the Boston Tea Party, and I loved playing as Connor without robes in the beginning because you see how he actually earns the robes.
