  • Quick air bag light diagnostics on Jeep Commander and Grand Cherokee. Driver air bag, steering wheel and clockspring removal/installation. Be careful purchasing clocksprings on Ebay, many claim to be genuine OEM, but are poorly made in China and can cause steering angle codes.

    I just did this job today!! I have had the part for 4 years but I was scared to do it. I probably have watched your video 20 times….and today I decided to just to do it. Man it was super easy following your steps…and I even repainted the wheel. Thank you so much!! I did re-use the bolt with loctite as I wasn’t able to find the bolt online. Thank you!!

    Thanks for this great video! Followed your advice to change the clock spring on my 08 Grand Cherokee 3.7L. Made the whole job very simple.
    One thing I will note, though the Haynes manual does say to replace the steering wheel bolt it can be reused. I tried to find a replacement bolt and found out it is a non-serviceable part and extremely hard to find. I called the service managers at 5 different Jeep dealerships and they all said it was fine to reuse the bolt if it was cleaned and given Loctite. I reused my bolt and everything seems ok.
    Again, thanks for this great video! Saved a few hundred bucks doing this job at home.

    My 08 CRD just began lighting the airbag warning last night. I immediately noticed it was intermittent when turning the steering wheel so I suspect the clock spring. Thanks for your detailed vid and great explanations. Now I feel confident I know where the problem is and that i can easily do this.

    After installing, can you reset the air bag light without a scanner?

    • @ClaudeBradley001
      @ClaudeBradley001 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If done correct the airbag light will go off without the scanner but but the code will be stored in. Having a scanner that deals with SRS codes will allow you to erase that stored code.

      @TDRAuto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I've updated the link, but only 3 available! I guess some parts stores are getting rid off their inventories. Try and look on Ebay every day, just be careful, buy only from verified US seller with good feedback. $280 on Rock Auto, I don't know why is it so expensive from dealer.

      @@TDRAuto hey thanks for being helpful with this. I'm just concerned that my airbag will trigger in my face from this intermittent connection so I want to get it fixed. I did more looking and research and determined that I need the clockspring with the tilt sensor for compatibility with my Grand Cherokee side curtain airbags. I believe if I'm correct OEM part #5156106AG will work? I found an OEM Mopar part for $89 from feve17, I think that's the original vendor you linked. Thanks in advance for your help.
