  • Airbag warning light with device trouble code P1200 "driver squib circuit" is generally caused by a fault in the clockspring. This video shows step-by-step how to remove and replace the clockspring. Vehicle is a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Includes a special tip for how to remove the steering wheel, using the proverbial nut behind the wheel to break the wheel loose from the steering column splines.

      You know what, this is my least viewed video. Out of all the videos I have made, it gets the lowest number of views. I was wondering why I even bothered making and whether I should bother making any more Jeep videos. Thanks for your comment. If it helps just one person, it's worth it.

    Thanks for this vedio. I have a question. This mechanic said he had ti disconnect the battery first and let all energy out of car before replacing the clock spring or it would miss up the wiring or circuits. I have ordered the clock spring for my 2011 v6 Jeep Liberty.

      Yes absolutely always disconnect the battery before working on the SRS componenets.

      Always a good idea to disconnect the battery before working with any electrical components on any vehicle.

    This happened with my 2005 with 30k mi. Why was this never part of a recall?

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. In general a recall is mandated if a defect has the potential cause injury or death. For other issues, the manufacturer can issue a service bulletin, which is not a mandatory service, but highly suggested. And issues that arise from normal wear and tear, no matter how serious, do not trigger a recall.
