@@australianandrew128 it isn't necessarily the case that a theist must take the affirmative or positive position that God does exist, but only that they believe that it does exist. In fact, one can even identify as an "agnostic theist", which is the position that "it isn't inherently knowable but I nonetheless believe it." Belief, afterall, doesn't require knowledge.

I actually knew quite a few Wiccans in my adult life, and they've never ever shoved their beliefs down anyone's throats. In fact, I would only find out about them being Wiccan when I asked about a pentagram or gem they'd be wearing. What they believe is also much less egregious. Literally, most Wiccans believe in pagan ideals like energies, good and bad spirits, and luck. In my youth I could just go to mass, say I was sorry, and poof- it's like it never happened. No shame, no regret, just holy magical absolution. So who's really running from their shame? I only feel shame over things where "I should have known better" - in situations where I make a genuine mistake, or misunderstand something, or make a poor judgement call, I just accept that I was limited in my understanding of the world, and strive to do better. When I do something I know to be wrong, or know is a stupid thing to do, I feel shame.
Naturally, knowing something is wrong or stupid, tends to prevent a person from actually doing it, so I very rarely feel shame. Mostly it's just embarrassing blunders and stupid things I said in High School, while under the influence of teenage hormones.

Only times I've seen someone "mocking" or being openly insulting it's Creationists or atheists, usually atheists, and I go into (gentle) combat mode; it usually takes awhile for them to realize I am really atheist too and their attitude suddenly changes; they usually strike me as recent escapees from Christianity/Islam still furious at the lies and cultic control they suffered and still believing "all religions are the same" and want to practice on the "knockoffs" before taking on their own ex-faith. Embarrassing. I suppose if I understood other languages (Japan, India) I'd see more atheist pushback against other religions, but I like the Japanese attitude toward religion and I've begun to see some Hindus coming in like Hellfire Christians. But mostly atheists "mock" in defense of modern science (not a religion), secular democracy (not a religion) attacked by theocrats, and various demographics some ("not all") Christians want removed/executed (LGBTQIA+, atheists, other religions, other/false/"demonic" Christians, other races/ethnicities/refugees, women, etc.) No other faith I know of besides Christianity and Islam regularly attacks and openly seeks to erase huge swaths of humanity or flat out deny the very science that makes our lives possible.

Why didn't anyone tell me that atheism was a "get out of shame free" card!? Here I am, being a good little, baby eating atheist and constantly dealing with shame, low self-esteem, and other crap thanks to depression when I just need to be selfish, "want to sin", and I can escape that all.
Here I am actually trying to consider my own actions and how I can help others. Silly me. All I had to do is deny God and it would all go away. /s
How can anyone actually think the "you just want to sin" or "you just want to be your own God" arguments are any good?
I'm not dumb enough to think I could outsmart an omnipotent and omniscient god. If I actually believed one existed, and believed I knew what it wanted, I would also believe that I was unable to avoid the consequences for going against them.

Let me add to that as well....
Yes you are right, Christianity is not a get out of hell free card
but in extension to that (and i know what i'm talking about because i've been an ordained minister and have a degree in religion and served god , let's call it, for 15 years) and i did all this to get closer to god.
You devote 15 years of your life to a god, to love him, to love his son
AND HE DOESN'T UTTER A WORD IN RETURN TO SIGNIFY HE IS THERE, Doesn't guide you, Doesn't do anything
My Conclusion.... we can't prove whether he exist, we don't actually know if he exist, but this is a certainty
      He either doesn't exist
      or
He doesn't want me to know he exists
      or
He doesn't want to know me, Possibly doesn't care, if once he did, he no longer does
but.. that's not the point i was trying to make
the point was, what you learn during a religious degree is
      No one is saved.
      Christians go around saying
WE ARE BORN AGAIN (Ok, .. that's a metaphor) it's not actually real.
      but let's entertain it anyway
      then they say
We are saved and now you need to receive the word of christ and accept him as your lord and saviour so that you may avoid judgement and that you may go to heaven, because only the righteous go to heaven
IF THEY HAD HALF A CLUE ABOUT THEIR RELIGION THEY WOULD KNOW A FEW THINGS
      1. Only Jesus is Righteous
I mean how stuck up do you need to be to look down onto a person and call yourself righteous and condem them a sinner
      2. NO ONE IS SAVED
You don't accept god and then instantly you go to heaven
the bible even goes into how
      - ALL WILL BE JUDGED
that doesn't mean , all Atheist's , it literally mean ALL, EVERYONE, Every single person on the day of judgement (assuming it will happen and that jesus and god are real) will be judged
      and that even means christians
Then what is supposed to happen is ...
GOD IS GOING TO LOOK AT THE ACTIONS OF EVERYONE
and he will issue a judgement
Now the other problem is, christians always see judgement as a punishment
NO THAT'S NOT WHAT IT IS
it's not a day of punishment ,it's a day of judgement
what is supposed to happen is ...
If you did good, you will be rewarded
if you did bad , you will be punished
the idea is... God looks at your life and actions as a whole and decides what to do with you
NO ONE IS SAVED UNTIL THEY ARE JUDGED
AND NO ONE IS JUDGED UNTIL THE DAY OF THEIR DEATH
      and No...
You can't have a near death experience and say
I died, went to heaven , received my judgement and came back
      no, that does not happen
the point is.. Christians need to really understand their own religion
i mean, god is not stupid
if you are born again today and saved then tomorrow you can kill someone
and you are good and going to heaven
      THAT'S FUCKING STUPID
They need to understand their own religion
and another thing they need to actually read their bible
but that's another kettle of fish
should they read it ? considering that the book is a lie
it's definitely a pickle to be in
they read it because they have no other option
Truth is, there is no real bible , a One Word of god

Growing up in Europe, I never realized I‘m an atheist until I turned 30 - not because of some severe indoctrination, but because I was raised as a Christian pretty much „by the way“, and religion was such a non-topic that the mere concept of non-belief just didn‘t consciously occur to me.
Once it did, I immediately realized that IF the Christian concept of eternal „heaven“ vs. eternal torture was correct, this is the single, literally infinitely most important question to find an answer to in this life, so I took it VERY seriously and dug deep into the arguments for or against religious beliefs in general and Christianity in particular. And the result was more unambiguously devastating for the religious position than for any position on pretty much any other question I ever asked outside of pure mathematical proofs.
There is no proof that there isn‘t any god at all (because „there is a god“ without further defining it is entirely unfalsifiable), but there is a plethora of both logical and factual evidence unambiguously showing that any particular god I‘ve ever looked into, for example the Christian god, AS DESCRIBED BY THEIR BELIEVERS is entirely off the table.
It’s hard to pick „the one best argument“, because there are so many, but most of the time I‘d pick this:
IF the Christian god as described by Christians was real, he would want me to believe in him, he would know what evidence will convince me, and he would be able to produce that evidence. So the mere fact alone that I don‘t believe he exists conclusively disproves the existence of the Christian god as described by Christians.

And instead of answering my questions at all, they just called me Satan and kicked me out of their church!! And the same things happened to me with all the other religions as well too!! So, I realized that the people in this world turned their own backs on their own beliefs and whatever they believed in their Bibles and the book of Mormon and the rest of them!! Then as I grew up, I started to realize that people are just trying to show off to their gods and saying pick me to go to heaven and ignore what they're all really doing towards each other in this life that they have now!!

@@elegantoddity8609 That actually doesn't answer much at all. That's only an answer as to what is expected of people. It doesn't explain what the end goal of this is. Why does a God create humans to go through all of that? He's omnipotent, this is all nothing but a time waster for him. It cannot achieve or lead to something he himself cannot make. So what's the point of it all?
And then there's also omniscence, which means all events are already scripted with full knowledge and understanding of what they do and will do. So once again, why any of this? It seems like a meaningless diversion for the God.
And if one is to bring up freedom of will, that doesn't exist in the context of omniscience, and it's arguably it doesn't exist regardless. Two, freedom of will isn't Biblical in the first place, making it an interpretation/fanfiction, non-canon. Three, omnipotency still means there are no phenomenon above the said God, so freedom of will even if it existed would be worthless.
And thus I fail to see how any of this serves any use for an omnipotent, let alone omniscient God. There is even more to this topic still, but I'm keeping this short for now.
At best this answer makes God sound like narcissist who created humans just to stroke his massive ego. Sounds very demonic, or archon-like. Are you sure this described God isn't a demon or an archon?

And these people only act according to its thoughts, as the being is all-knowing and all-powerful. Nothing exists that doesn't originate from this being's mind. God is a coma patient stuck in its own mind, as it has no capability of verifying the reality of anything. When the very fabric of reality is a reflection of your own mind, what is reality?
Godhood is the most extreme form of an existential crisis as there is no escape from it. The only way to escape it is to cease being a god.

    • @bodyrumuae2914

Both arguments are false. Some Satanists get into vandalism and other behavior and many of us theists aren't threatening atheists (which is not a proper noun) with Hell because we don't subscribe to such a philosophy. Asatruars may warn about Hel/Hela, but she and her realm are nothing like the vast range of concepts of Hell. I could warn you about Naraka, but it too isn't as bad as this Hell place. Being in Naraka would only be temporary, and not as bad as lower realms. But unlike with Heaven and possibly others, you aren't limited to one lifetime get things right to reach Moksha or whatever for possibly other philosophies, and often aren't as strict as Abrahamic traditions.
Also, a number of Satanists are atheists. I'd imagine they don't threaten themselves with Heaven.

He has the typical christian persecution complex. Meanwhile his religion is the dominant one here in the states, has massive influence over political matters and such. So a few less than polite comments apparently equals persecution. Why would we bother with "satanist" channels. It's HIS religion that's forcefed down our throats. I don't see or hear anything pertaining to such things, but I am forced to listen to theist crap nonstop. Also, in pretty sure Dahmer converted to xtianity after getting locked up. Like they all do.

I don't even know where to start with this, such a treasure, thank you Tick.
First of all, why is our pencil friend trying to use atheist channels to "mock and bully" people that believe differently than he does? He first complains how atheist channels are so mean to him and other christian channels and then just smoothly goes to "go bully someone else", preferably the ones he points to, how kind of him to want others to suffer along with him.
Then putting being atheist as the same descriptor as murderer and cannibal, what a gracious view of his fellow humans, makes me wonder if he was a cannibal in his very demonic agnostic days.
And to top it all of a bunch of poorly made memes, a Ray Comfort quote, a "atheism is faith and ackts as if it's the only way" projection, and my personal fave a citation by "former atheist", as if there's only 1, so we can go and ask them if they did indeed say it. On the other hand he takes his inspiration form the bible and its 500 witnesses, what is 1 former atheist in comparison. He should step up his game, to match the energy.

When someone says, to me, "I don't have enough faith to believe..." I respond with, "At least we agree that faith is not a valid path to truth."
I also like to point out that "the supernatural" was invented, by Christians, in the 5th century CE, to solve some then current problem with their belief. The writers of the various books of the Bible did not understand the world in terms of "the supernatural". In later years the supernatural became populated with all kinds of demons and devils, as we see in popular representations such as movies, books and television programs.

1 - In the beginning, Lisa the Rainbow Giraffe (LBUH) farted the heavens and the Earth, 2 - now the Earth was treeles and grassless, there were no clouds in the sky and the spirit of Lisa was walking over the barren plains.
3 - And Lisa (LBUH) said "let there be a cycle of water that warms the water and makes it evaporate up in the heavens and then cool down until it rains down on the land", and it was so. 4 - Lisa (LBUH) saw the rain was good and she separated it from the waters of the ground, 5 - Lisa (LBUH) called the water vapor "cloud" and the liquid water "lakes, rivers and seas", and there was evening and there was morning... The first day.
6 - And Lisa (LBUH) said "let there be trees that will bring forth green and tasty leaves to eat and also something else for the other things that I will create someday", and it was so. 7 - Lisa (LBUH) saw trees and grass covering the barren plains and it saw that it was good, and there was evening and there was morning... The second day.
8 - And Lisa (LBUH) said "let the lakes, rivers and seas be plenty of fishes, crabs and marine mammals, and the plains with bats, birds, reptiles, bugs, monkeys and so on" and it was so. 9 - Lisa (LBUH) saw the plains and the seas teeming with life and she saw that it was good, and there was evening and there was morning... The third day.
10 - Then Lisa (LBUH) said "let I make mankind from the apes that I've created yesterday, so that they may tend to the trees, the seeds and the leaves that are so dear to me, 11 - so Lisa (LBUH) created mankind from the apes, with the physiognomy of the apes she created them, with a dick and a pussy she created them.
12 - Lisa (LBUH) blessed them and said to them "multiply and tend to my precious trees and don't let the grass grow too tall and sow the seeds at a proper distance from one another, 13 - Lisa (LBUH) saw mankind and hoped they will not fuck up something while she was not watching.
14 - Lisa the Rainbow Giraffe (LBUH) saw all that she had made, and it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day. 15 - in the other three days, Lisa (LBUH) spent her time eating snacks and sleeping.

I tend to think that Atheists don't make fun of Satanists because:
    1) There aren't many or nearly as many, if any examples of Satanist hypocrisy... as there are with Christians.
    2) Satanists don't spend a lot of time criticizing Atheists. Or anybody else either. At least, not publicly. They believe what they believe and they just kind of seem to stay in their own lane. They just seem to want to be left alone to believe what they believe. I can respect that... even if I don't believe in what they do. Atheists wouldn't make fun of Christians if they'd just stop being so gosh darn judge-y all the time... and if they'd stop being so hella-goofy.
    3) Satanists don't constantly complain about how the rest of the world treats them/makes jokes about them/criticizes their beliefs. Christians invite judgement of their beliefs because they, themselves are so judgmental of everything everyone who isn't a Christian (sometimes even other Christians) does.
    4) Satanists don't try ramming their beliefs down everyone else's throats. When was the last time you saw a Satanist preacher standing on a street corner berating passers-by? Where are the t.v. Satanist Evangelical ministries who want you to send them your money? What they believe doesn't impact anyone else's day-to-day lives. They don't try to influence government policy... like Christians do. America, in particular, claims to be a Christian country... which seems to guide some U.S. politician's policies (even if it violates their Christian beliefs).
    5) Being a Christian involves, beyond a faith in the Almighty, aspiring to certain ideals/behaviours... many of which most Christians fall well-short of attaining. And when they do... they have a whole list of dumb excuses why they don't always live their Christian values. And they're ever-so willing to forgive their own transgressions... something so many of them fail to do for others.
In the end, what are Satanists doing in the public space that we should make fun of them? Other than a belief in something I don't share... to Atheists and/or Agnostics, they're kind of the perfect religion... in that they do their own thing and they don't seem to care or want to influence what we believe. I can respect that.

Unfortunately some do. I recently had an atheist telling me how Hinduism is a false religion because the deities aren't living creatures. The whole thing is subjective. Shiva is incarnated as cannabis, which we know does exist, Yama is the Lord of death, we know death exists, Shani is Jupiter, Surya is Sol (our sun), Rahu and Ketu are solar and lunar eclipses, etc., etc. Hindu comes from the Sanskrit, Sindu, which refers to the culture of people that live south of the Indus River, and Hinduism isn't limited to one theology or philosophy. But from the Christians, Muslims, and atheists I've debated on this, the culture of Hinduism is somehow a false religion because they don't believe there is sufficient evidence for specifically Dvaita monotheistic and or Dvaita polytheistic philosophies, despite that there is no restriction to following Āstika despite being the traditional philosophy, or Dvaita. Many are followers of Advaita, and Vishnu's avatar Buddha himself established Nāstika (rejection of following Vedic traditions, including advocating atheism is also a possible philosophy to follow and still reach Moksha).
