    I just picked up a clear top for my C5 for $175 because it looked like yours did. I'm about to raise the value a few hundred $$$ thanks to your video! Thanks for taking the time to post this.

    Thanks for that. Every collision repair shop has advised painting the T-Top at a cost of $500 dollars. Will try it. Thanks.

      Painting it? What, you mean with clear? And AFTER you're done wet sanding??

  • @retrobear9367
    @retrobear9367 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I wrapped mine because of the rough finish and sold my painted top because of its weight. The wrap is bubbled now. Was gonna order a refurb top. But might try this to and rewrap

      @TomlinPerformance  23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      If you’re going to re wrap, polishing wouldn’t even be necessary. Probably wouldn’t need to sand any finer than 600 grit

    Hello, I saw the video. Its great!!
    I have a 95 with the clear coat messed up in one small side. What would you recommend to fix? Thank you so much!!

    • @TomlinPerformance

      Best option would be to Sam’s and polish the whole top as I did in this video, and re clear coat over it. Best of luck!

    I only have the crazing on a C6. No peeling or deep scratches. Would you , based on what you have experienced, think that using only the polishing compound or using 3M Lens & Plastic Cleaner would be sufficient. I cannot see in the video if any crazing remained. Thanks

    • @TomlinPerformance
      @TomlinPerformance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately if you have cracking throughout it that isn’t surface damage this won’t help much. If the top still feels as smooth as glass on the top this process will not help much. For that I’ve seen lense replacements for ~$130 in parts and some people put a static cling sun shade thing over it so it doesent look bad.

    Thank you for the video, I’m going to do that to my corvette. What product did you use for the clear coat?

    • @TomlinPerformance
      @TomlinPerformance  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Spraymax 3680061, several coats and then I wet sanded and polished it. Good luck!

    Hi there, I have a 1992 Chevy Corvette, actually my husband does, the targa top has a crack right down the middle of it, the break is clean and straight. I watched how u made ur top gorgeous. Im wondering how to seal, or close the crack, and then I can refurbish it as u did. Any ideas?

    • @TomlinPerformance
      @TomlinPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not sure what would be best. I do know lense replacements aren’t too expensive.

      Call Safelite and ask if their AutoGlass, Windshield Crack Repair service would work on that top. Worked on a friends. ^v^

    My targa top is carbon fiber and i can already see where the sun is starting to attack that carbon fiber where im starting to see the white chippy look in like one or two spots do i sand the whole carbon top like u did in the vid or just the two little spots ?

    • @user-uo9lm9zk9p
      @user-uo9lm9zk9p หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This may be late but If you’re looking to clear coat it, sand the whole thing. If you are just buffing than the two spots will be alright

  • @richhahn1095
    @richhahn1095 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you done a C6 vet with the higher edges?

    • @TomlinPerformance
      @TomlinPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not. My c6 had the crazing where there’s fractures throughout the whole top, but the actual finish is in tack and smooth. This process will only hell when the surface layer has oxidized and I’ve not had a c6 with that issue yet.

  • @kelemenlaszlo8564
    @kelemenlaszlo8564 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey. What kind a buffing pad you using?

    • @TomlinPerformance
      @TomlinPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heavy cut pads! I finished with a polishing pad.

    • @TomlinPerformance

      I am not sure, I think those would be actual glass. This only works on the plastic stuff.

    How has it held up after this? Mine is starting to spider in some spots.

    • @TomlinPerformance
      @TomlinPerformance  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With a good clear coat it’s held up great.
      Remember this method will not fix spider cracking, just surface oxidation.

    • @koihoshi
      @koihoshi 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @TomlinPerformance
      @TomlinPerformance  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ceramic would need reapplied every couple seasons atleast, and paint I didn’t need to worry about again plus I had experience with it so that’s what I went for

      I asked a local shop to wrap my C4 acrylic top and they said they'd do it, but the acrylic swells in the intense Florida sun and would split the wrap. I'm just going to use the technique in mason's video and forget the wrap ... ^v^
