I used a product called “Bio-Clean hard water spot remover” and only in sunlight at certain angles you can see the abrasives in the cleaner have left scratches… what do you recommend just the polish?
Thank you for your inquiry. To address light spiderweb scratches, you can use cerium oxide or a glass polishing compound along with a felt polishing pad for effective removal. It is recommended to use a rotary device, such as an electric drill or rotary polisher, for optimal results.
Our rates depend on the nature and scope of the job. We typically charge either a day rate or a call-in charge for smaller tasks. For the type of damage shown in your video, this would fall under our call-in charge.
We recommend between 1500-2000rpms and the drill with high torque. Most electric drills generate that sort of speed. Try to avoid using battery drills due to low torque. Low torque will slow down the drill while putting pressure on the pad.
All stove tops are different, some are underneath the glass, but most are on the surface. Using the abrasive pads can/will remove the markings. The polish used at the end of the process will not.
This is a standard electric drill, with a recommended RPM range of 1500-2200. We recommend using a corded drill rather than a battery-powered one, as it allows you to maintain a consistent speed while applying pressure during polishing. The abrasive discs used in the videos are: green P180, followed by blue P500. Please note, not all silicon carbide discs are the same in quality or performance.
Yes, you can remove scratches from your windshield, just be mindfull to check it does not have an exterior coating that could end up being removed when using an abrasive. glasspolishshop.com/automotive-care-repair?product_id=374
Thank you for your inquiry. We do not recommend polishing glass if the surface is coated with paint or a film, unless the coating is within the glass layers. If the coating is on the outside, it may be removed during the polishing process.
I have a very small scratch that I can feel with my fingernail on a expensive aquarium inside glass. Will this method affect optical clarity or be noticeable during viewing the glass ? Can I do just the small affected area ? Ugh I’m nervous.
Hi Steve, thank you for your inquiry. If used correctly you should not distort the glass. You wont need to polish the whole tank but you will need to make the damaged area a little bigger when using the abrasive to avoid getting a distortion and blend it in.
Cerium oxide is a polishing solution ideal for the final polishing stage or for removing superficial scratches. However, if you need to remove deeper scratches, the surface must first be sanded down and then polished, as demonstrated in the video.

If you want to remove pits from the entire windshield, we recommend using a 5" kit with the rotary polisher th-cam.com/video/7lQDVlqKWBs/w-d-xo.html The 3" kit is recommended for small areas only.
If you think of polishing the entire windshield, consider using a 5-inch kit with a rotary polisher instead of a 3-inch kit with an electric drill. The 3-inch kit is suitable for small areas or spot repairs but not large panes.
Thank you for your enquiry. Yes of course you can use this product and technique on ceramic glass cooker tops, the only thing to watch out for is the plate ring marks because if they are painted on the top of the hob as opposed to the underside they can easily be removed due to the abrasive nature of this kit. Should you have any doubts or require further assistance please don' hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your inquiry. The time required for the process really depends on the depth of the scratches and the size of the area. In the video, the scratches were quite deep, and as a result, the entire process took about 40 minutes. Keep in mind that for shallower scratches or smaller areas, the process might be quicker.
Will this work on a domestic house window ? Glazing company told me it was impossible to polish / grind out a scratch, but this looks like it would, unless the grade of glass is somehow different from what i'm looking at on my house window (that has much thinner scratches than processed here)
Hi James, Thank you for your inquiry. Our kit can indeed be used on house windows. However, before you decide to try the kit, please send us an email at contact@glasspolishshop.com with a picture of the window, the size of the pane, and if possible, please mark the scratched areas. We need to assess the size of the damage to determine whether you should choose the DIY or a PRO kit.
I have a pinball machine backglass that somehow got a few nicks; I am a bit concerned that if I try something like this, it might turn out worse. I wouldn't mind doing it for a very small area, and by hand.
Can I used a normal corded drill or do you have any recommendations? I have called around in my area all the numbers I could and they all want to replace my glass. I have dog scratches only and am now considering doing it myself
Our DIY kits are designed for use with an electric drill, however, if you plan to work on the larger areas we recommend a PRO version and a rotary polisher with the variable speed control .
Thank you for your enquiry. Yes of course this works well on upvc double glazed windows, in fact the glass we are repairing in the video is a double glazed unit.
In general no there is nothing else that could go wrong, if you are working on laminated or float glass then you should keep the temperature in check because overheating can cause it to crack, as long as you follow the step by step instructions and take your time you will be fine. If you mean a manufactures coating on the glass then in a double glazed unit the coating is inside the glazed unit so there will be no problem with that. If there is an after market window film on the glass then it has to be removed before any repair can be done.@@TimHarrison1
@@GlassPolishShop Cracking due to heat is my biggest concern. How hot is too hot? How do you know without touching and how often should you spray cold water on it?
You can use an infrared thermometer to check the temperature. If you don't have one, the only way to gauge the glass temperature is by using the palm of your hand. The maximum temperature you can reach during the process depends on the type of glass you are working with. For example, mirror or laminated glass can reach temperatures of up to 48 degrees Celsius, while tempered glass can go as high as 82 degrees Celsius.
Thank you for your inquiry. Our product is specifically designed and formulated to be safe for use on glass surfaces, including the inside of aquariums. It is non-toxic and does not contain any harmful chemicals that could pose a danger to fish or other aquatic life. Remove any fish or other inhabitants temporarily during the polishing process and thoroughly clean and rinse the aquarium when you are finished.
You can use "whitening toothpaste" to remove the "deep" scratches and finally polish the glass with cerium oxide. No need for tools. Newspaper works well as a substrate for these abrasives. Don't go near the windscreen with abrasive pads like Scotch Brite. PS I'm an amateur optical designer and telescope lens(mirror) manufacturer.
If the scratch cannot be felt with you fingernail then our Pro Polish Cerium should be able to remove the scratch. If it can be felt you may want to use a fine abrasive then the polish.
Hi, I sanded down my glass shower panel (1 out of 3) which was horribly etched due to 12 years of limescale. Thank you for your inquiry. If you have sanded glass using our abrasive discs, we recommend using GP-PRO glass polishing compound (2.3 microns) for the final polish. Yes with this kit you will be able to sand down the glass until the spots are removed and then polish the glass back to its original condition, please bare in mind that if the impact was strong and caused deep etching in the glass it would be similar to damage caused by sandblasting, this type of damage can take considerable time to repair and in some cases more than one attempt will be required to achieve a perfect repair.

Hi, • Look for any markings on the glass itself. Manufacturers often label windows to indicate if they have special coatings. This information is typically found in one of the corners of the glass. • Examine the window glass closely. Some coatings, like Low-E (Low Emissivity) coatings, may not be visible to the naked eye. However, if there's a reflective or tinted appearance to the glass, it might indicate the presence of a coating.

What hand drill are you using. Is it a drill or polisher? RPMs? It is not on your website. Can you use any P180 and P500 sil carbide discs?
This is a standard electric drill, with a recommended RPM range of 1500-2200. We recommend using a corded drill rather than a battery-powered one, as it allows you to maintain a consistent speed while applying pressure during polishing.
The abrasive discs used in the videos are: green P180, followed by blue P500. Please note, not all silicon carbide discs are the same in quality or performance.
Can I remove small scratches from my car windshield with this?
Yes, you can remove scratches from your windshield, just be mindfull to check it does not have an exterior coating that could end up being removed when using an abrasive. glasspolishshop.com/automotive-care-repair?product_id=374
My husband used a knife to remove labels from our glass doors and left scratches. Would this work to remove these?
Yes, our kit can be used to remove scratches left by the knife or any other sharp object.
I have a glass dining table with white finish yes i can remove the scratches but how do you make good the paint?
When removing hard water marks with this system, do you need to sand it first or can you use just the cerium
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes you can start with the cerium as this will remove most hard water stains on glass.
Can this be performed of tempered glass?
yes
I had purchase ceric dioxide. Is there disadvantage to this product? Not getting good results.
Cerium oxide is a polishing solution ideal for the final polishing stage or for removing superficial scratches. However, if you need to remove deeper scratches, the surface must first be sanded down and then polished, as demonstrated in the video.
Will this work on tempered glass or will it shatter?
Yes, our system is suitable for use on the tempered glass.
Well done!
Can we use this to any glass watch?
You can use a polishing compound and polishing compound but we do not recommend using abrasive discs to polish watches.
Can this be done on windshields?
Please check this kit th-cam.com/video/mwys2VHlQ1c/w-d-xo.html , the process is the same but the backing pad that comes with this kit is more suitable for curved surfaces.
Can you provide link to the kit to purchase?

Will this process remove very fine pits (super tiny chips) in a windshield?
If you want to remove pits from the entire windshield, we recommend using a 5" kit with the rotary polisher
th-cam.com/video/7lQDVlqKWBs/w-d-xo.html
The 3" kit is recommended for small areas only.
Hello! Works this also on a mirror?
Yes, it can be used on a mirror. We uploaded a short video a moment ago:

Is this process applicable on car windshield?
Yes, you can use this process on a car windshield.
I have small dots all over my front windshield without any deep scratches. How much should I order to cover entire windshield on a hatchback?
If you think of polishing the entire windshield, consider using a 5-inch kit with a rotary polisher instead of a 3-inch kit with an electric drill.
The 3-inch kit is suitable for small areas or spot repairs but not large panes.

can you use this technique on ceramic/glass cooker tops?
Thank you for your enquiry. Yes of course you can use this product and technique on ceramic glass cooker tops, the only thing to watch out for is the plate ring marks because if they are painted on the top of the hob as opposed to the underside they can easily be removed due to the abrasive nature of this kit.
Should you have any doubts or require further assistance please don' hesitate to contact us.
Are different compounds being used for different stages of the pad? If so which ones??
The polishing compound is used only at the end of the process. The two-stage sanding process is performed dry, as you can see in the video.
How long did this whole process take?
Thank you for your inquiry. The time required for the process really depends on the depth of the scratches and the size of the area. In the video, the scratches were quite deep, and as a result, the entire process took about 40 minutes. Keep in mind that for shallower scratches or smaller areas, the process might be quicker.
Excellent info!!!
Will this work on a domestic house window ? Glazing company told me it was impossible to polish / grind out a scratch, but this looks like it would, unless the grade of glass is somehow different from what i'm looking at on my house window (that has much thinner scratches than processed here)
Hi James,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Is it safe to use on glass with coatings? Low E, etc..
We do not recommend polishing glass with coatings, such as Low-E coatings, as the polishing process may result in the removal of the coating.
Would this work on windshields on classic cars?
Yes, this will work on automotive glass.
I have a pinball machine backglass that somehow got a few nicks; I am a bit concerned that if I try something like this, it might turn out worse. I wouldn't mind doing it for a very small area, and by hand.
Please send us a picture of the damaged area to contact@glasspolishshop.com, we will et back to you with advice.

Our glass polishing compound can be used to polish porcelain tiles with a high gloss finish, however, it will not remove scratches from the tiles.
Do we get the handsome man with the kit as well?
can we use black and decker compact drill 18v 20nm torque machine for this use ? or any specific specification of drill machine for use
We recommend using corded drills over the battery operated.
Where can I buy it . I hit the glass door with a grinder terrible mistake via not to deep can this product help me

Please email us a picture of the damage so we can help pick the right product.
Google Milwaukee M12 Polisher. Great little polisher but its best to buy it with the large battery.
Does this work well on upvc double glazing?
Thank you for your enquiry. Yes of course this works well on upvc double glazed windows, in fact the glass we are repairing in the video is a double glazed unit.
@@GlassPolishShop Do you need to be aware of anything else that could go wrong, film on the glass etc?
Is this safe to use on the inside of an aquarium? Is it dangerous for the fish?
Thank you for your inquiry. Our product is specifically designed and formulated to be safe for use on glass surfaces, including the inside of aquariums. It is non-toxic and does not contain any harmful chemicals that could pose a danger to fish or other aquatic life.
Remove any fish or other inhabitants temporarily during the polishing process and thoroughly clean and rinse the aquarium when you are finished.
polish compound are cerium oxide, white cerium are fast result
How's it going, I've a very faint scratch on the windscreen,so would cerium & a da polisher be correct for removing it...
Please & thanks in advance 👍
You can use "whitening toothpaste" to remove the "deep" scratches and finally polish the glass with cerium oxide. No need for tools. Newspaper works well as a substrate for these abrasives. Don't go near the windscreen with abrasive pads like Scotch Brite. PS I'm an amateur optical designer and telescope lens(mirror) manufacturer.
@@jeromejooste3493 thanks very much for your advice.
I think i have not used the blue disc enough, as after i used teh 3.5micron cerium oxide paste, I still have haze. My question is which is the best paste to use for polishing? On your website you have 3.5micron, 2.5, 2.3, 1.2 as well. I only have the highest grade right now, which one should i use as a final polishing step, 2.5 or 1.2?
Thank you for your inquiry. If you have sanded glass using our abrasive discs, we recommend using GP-PRO glass polishing compound (2.3 microns) for the final polish. Please note that in order to polish the glass, you will also need a felt polishing pad. If you need further assistance, please feel free to leave a comment or send us an email at contact@glasspolishshop.com

My automotive glass just experienced driving through a dust storm. Passenger side windows are spotted with white sand grain marks that won't come off with claybar or polish. Glass is smooth to the touch though. Any chance this product can improve the appearance?
Yes with this kit you will be able to sand down the glass until the spots are removed and then polish the glass back to its original condition, please bare in mind that if the impact was strong and caused deep etching in the glass it would be similar to damage caused by sandblasting, this type of damage can take considerable time to repair and in some cases more than one attempt will be required to achieve a perfect repair.

What would the process be for very shallow circular marks made by a dirty clay bar? Start from step 2? They are barely visible but numerous when the Sun is low shining along the whole windshield.
You can try the polishing stage first, and if you want to get the results, then you can start with the blue abrasive disc followed by the polishing process.

Can this be used on both toughened and Annealed glass?
Hi, yes this can be used on toughened and annealed glass.
So I was grinding in my garage, not thinking about the shavings that apparently hit my wife's car window. I now have multiple little pits in the front and rear driver side window. Will your scratch remover kits remove this?
Thank you for your inquiry. To effectively remove grinder damage from the glass, it is essential to use a 3-stage abrasive process. Unfortunately, the 2-stage process shown in the video you referred to will not be sufficient for this type of damage.
If the damage is on the side windows only, we recommend using the 75mm (3 inch) kit. This kit is specifically designed for such cases and will provide better results.

Hello, I have a question I’d like to ask. Is it possible to remove/repair waviness in the glass, made by abrasive discs? Polishing of the scratch in the windshield came out good, but cutting into glass made the glass rippled and hard to see through. Thanks for the answer.
You can try to go back over it with the abrasive but you must keep the pad flat on the glass and not use the edge of the pad as this what has most probably caused the waviness and is very hard to put right

How do I find out if my appartment window class has a coating?
Hi,
• Look for any markings on the glass itself.
