After I saw that primer, I was going to say this was a hack job. But I changed my mind. You’ve never done this before and the mistakes you made will help the rest of us to not make the same ones. Thank you for making this video.

Fantastic video, thanks for sharing your adventure and details about the experimentation process. I took your advice and got a calk gun rated for 26:1 thrust. Thanks again.

I'm not a expert and have never done this, but my thought would be to mask the inside before taking it apart, that way you would have a clean sharp line for the primer and after applying the urethane and clamping together peel off the masking.
I need to do this myself, and this is the only video I have found that even attempts it.
    Thanks

I agree with you, this was the first time I did this....I'm happy video is helping others and it wasn't that difficult to do, beats paying $500++ for a new top!

I measured my '96 the gap from rear of targa top to the B pillar is about 3/16". Thanks for the video, I had no idea that these tops could separate like this. Good to know and to keep an eye on.

This is exactly the video i needed, thank you! I actually had to patch the roof piece back together with duraglas and sandpaper. It flew off while driving and broke into two pieces!

You have the best window cleaner that exists, since it foams. Then make sure you use new razor blades to scrape of the old epoxy while insuring the glass is always wet. Then what does he do? He uses the handle 7:07 to attempt to remove the glue.

I have a black 84 C4 same as yours. I would be happy to photograph the rear gap for you. It has never been disassembled.

Thanks but, I already glued the top on....but, now that you mentioned it? When you get a chance, send me a pic? Let's see how far I'm off from the factory settings? Depending when I get the pic; I'll include it in my next video and show where the true factory gap is? Thanks, Gene

my top has a split in the middle, I plan on stop drilling, filling with proper epoxy and covering the top with a wrap.

Mine just did a backflip down the highway at 55 mph. No warning squeeks, didn't leak etc it appears the urethane bond let go. I am familiar with the Corvette tax, but 500-900 for a piece of smoked acrylic and a tube of windshield urethane is ABSURD. I like your idea, do you have a video of the work being done?

Any updates? I don't think window urethane is the right choice, but idk. I think I'm going with a 3M panel bonding 38115 type epoxy. Full disclosure.... I don't know anything...so there's that. Thanks for the video.

I am looking at a targa top that has a corner lifting up. It’s in a condition I think I can spray plasti dip the inside before removing the top from the frame and use the plasti dip as the re-gluing guide
