FYI This pertains to Airless spray rigs. above .5 gpm or more. if you have a smaller rig you may need to use the prime spray valve.....If your in the business. Do yourself a favor Get a larger spray rig.....Minimum titan 440 or Graco 495.
I have a Titan Xi 345 it’s .44gpm and it works the same. I swear this thing is just an older version of the 440 but I can’t find any info on the rig besides the parts manual.
I think you can change from the flapper to he ball and seat piston without any issues. Other than that I believe they are the same. One has a flap one has a ball and seat. I had an epic for a long time. and I forget what finally happened to it. so the 440 ex or i piston should fit. I would try it they are only like 20 bucks USD on Amazon.
OK, if you don't you the prime valve, but also you are washing yours rig , and what's with prime valve - if we don't touch it - some paint don't touch also thus valve is, not eany paint do not make dirty some prime channels????
Yes, they are all the same deep pressurized the spray line by pulling the trigger on the spray gun in a bucket of paint. Then you can operate the prime spray valve
@@mikethepainter yea it was me, I appreciate the content. I've been at it for years and I'm still surprised when I learn something new. I've been slamming the prime valve just like you described for years, just had my first issue with a new unit the other day.
I have a hard time getting thicker paint to go thru the line if I don’t prime my rig with water first then again I’ve got a smaller homeowner unit the graco magnum x5.

Even works with 4.7 gpm this way no problem
I agree here, been doing this way too and very rarely when there is a problem or something stuck in tube or what ever I would use the prime valve .
That a old old good pump but them old one are heavy 20 years ago they where light to us now it feels like a trying to carry a gas pump 😂
Great advice Mike! Will do this from here on out.

I bought 1 of these recently/ got a piston and packing too
How do you depressurize your rig when in paint and not make a mess?
Turn off the power then pull the trigger on the spray gun until all the pressure is out then you can turn the Prime spray valve
Great info 😎
Hi Mike.Always love the videos.
Across the pond here in Scotland I am struggling to find parts for my 440 epic.
Do you know Anywhere that can help?

instead of that valve I mounted a high pressure tap. So I solved the problem

Does this work with Graco sprayers as well? I have a 490PC with a different packings and piston.
