3:02 even at start up the dashboard gauges are tired already. lol
I have a 2017 Malibu that has been rocksolid reliable and is super comfortable, especially for the price.
Same here 2018 Malibu
I love my 2018. After the typical issues they're notoriously known for, the recall stuff, the shift to park, and the clicking sound caused by the rear knuckle, it's been my favorite car ever. Once those issues were fixed, regular oil changes, and I keep up with maintenance and she drives like a dream. I hope to own it for the next 10 years.
I agree Ben, I'm also happy that Chevy still makes the Malibu. The more affordable new cars made, the better! Also I've noticed that Chevy dealerships tend to heavily discount Malibus plus they have manufacturer rebates on them too, so a new Malibu ends up being cheaper than a new Trax. Here in Dallas, you can buy a brand new 2024 Chevy Malibu LS for 20k out the door which makes it a solid 6 thousand dollars cheaper than buying a brand new 2024 Toyota Corolla LE out the door!
This is the end of the line for the Malibu lol
There a reason it’s so cheap cause it’s trash 😂
beautiful, old school, reliable, real car. Gof bless Chevy for continuing to build them.
Gof bless chevy
After November, the Malibu is dead. Get them while you can.
Or don’t and buy a superior product
We’re good on trash 😂
why would i want to
Could not agree more with you about the Cruze! But also, in the ever changing world of EVs let’s also consider the importance that would be and could be as the return of Chevy’s true masterpiece, the VOLT 😍
It kinda sucks they didn't give it a last redesign for its farewell. Such a sad ending to such an iconic car. Its going to fade away into obscurity. GM has no idea wtf they're doing. Should of sent it out with a bang and then retired it.
It’ll come back as a crossover in about 10 years I’m sure
I see SO many Malibus out on the road, I’m really surprised their discontinuing it. honestly wished they kept the hybrid model.
Malibu is a beautiful car like like it
It’s trash own by people who don’t know cars 😂
Soon coming to an Enterprise, Avis or Hertz nearest you...
Who else would buy this POS?
😂😂
@@TheDiameter My mom did and it’s been a nice ride for her.
@@scottdavis_34It’s still a POS by comparison to the Japanese competition
@@TheDiameter opinions are like buttholes. Everyone has one.
I just got a 2024 malibu and am enjoying it so far. Wish they would have changed the body style, though. But it is still a nice body style.
congrats! which trim and how much did you pay for it? any luck negotiating the price down?
@sachinnair91 I'm paying $590 an month got an base LS trim. But I really need an new car my 2018 Colorado was causing problems and I still.had 4 years to pay on it.
@@briang3352 you made the smart choice. $590 a month for how many months? what was your down payment?
@@briang3352You could’ve probably gotten a loaded Mazda 3 for less monthly…
@@briang3352$590?!? Did you put like $50 down or something??? Holy crap!
I miss seeing the snow on the Wasatch Mountains.
Atleast passing power is not bad
Compared to what? GMs other anemic products?
@@theinvisibleman2070Subaru offers a 2.4T and Nissan still offers a V6. Both of them will move their sedans far better than this anemic 1.5L
I miss the Chevy Malibu SS. But overall, nothing is egregious about it. This is worth a look for anyone who wants a straightforward car.
Except that Japanese sedans exist.
It’s a good looking car with enough features and power for daily driving and for around $26,000 is a deal in the current car market.
You can find better with Mazda , honda or Toyota
These are nice cars for the price
I drive this few days pretty good engine 1.5 short period of time
Solid
Almost 10 years doing the same???...is because it sells well, why not introduce other models???
Ben hates this car so much he ends up talking about other cars and empty buildings more than the subject of the review. What’s the, “It gets the job done” counter? 😂 3? 4? poor guy was probably dreading making this video, but that’s the life of a TH-camr. Keep grindin’ brotha.
He made a video of a red one in the recent past & liked it. That review was more enthusiastic then this one.
The only malibus i ever drove were the ones back in the early 2000s since it was the economy rental car of choice for all of them Lol.
28 city and 38 HWY is impressive and all but my 2008 Cadillac STS gets almost 32 HWY and that’s a 3.6L V6 that weighs over 4k pounds and over 300 horsepower. This may have been impressive once but not in 2024. I’m still rooting for it. Hopefully they’ll change their mind and redesign it with hybrid option
I have a 2016 malibu not really any significant changes..just the parking lights I have halogens...I had to replace the wire harness twice. When the computer tells me I need to shift into park in order to shut off. I had to replace a fuel injector
Its the Equinox layout
I enjoy your videos! I wish the test drives could be a bit longer but otherwise great simple content
Don't forget they're loaners from the dealerships, so they will most likely limit the drive time and hard test drives etc.
@@Blue-moon12 oh yeah I'm not asking for 100 miles but maybe like 10 instead of the little around the block he gets in.
Competitors Like :Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Mercedes C Class, Lexus IS, Infitiniti q50, Acura TLX, Kia K5, And Other
It has 160 hp. It's lower than a Corrola at this point
Fusion is dead
No one cross shops this with an Audi A4 or C class. Especially this trim Malibu
@@temur72However this trim of Malibu is cross shopped with the Mazda 3 - and said Mazda was directly compared to the Audi A3 and base model MB A Class - and C&D/MotorTrend both stated the Mazda 3 was the better buy…
@@horseplop9Why would you compare a heavier car with more torque??
this isn't the first time Chevrolet has cancelled the Malibu 1983 replaced by the 84 Celebrity and 86-96 Corsica and 87-96 Beretta depending on if it was a 2 door coupe/sedan or a 4 door sedan/wagon when my late maternal grandmother drove me to school from 98-2001 the cab company she worked for loaned her a used 1997 Malibu LT Opal Blue Metallic black leather interior
Chevy Malibu the last sedan remaining by Chevrolet, cool design like impala and the cheapest in the class in meddle east market before disconnected
Now I understand if the generation of cars getting so long most likely will disconnected expect ford expedition (2007-2017)
Reliable cars but im tired of chevy not redesigning them like come on nothing has changed since 16? I have a 2020 i just finished paying off and i was gna get a brand new if they changed the design but nope
I’m in the market to buy a car, Every car I look at is boring .
Ford are coming back with some muscle cars
This is a "you get what you paid for" vehicle. Not bad for people who don't mind outdated looks and technologies. But if not, go elsewhere
160 hp ? Wow
Keep in mind the Malibu has a turbocharged engine so it has a lot of down low torque, much more than the Corolla. So it will feel faster than the Corolla in city driving
@@johnkonde1975No, it will not.
@@TheDiameter why not? Is it because the Malibu is heavier?
@@johnkonde1975The extra weight and the much older transmission setup.
@@TheDiameter Yes it will. I drive a 2022 Malibu LS and frequently pass those ugly Toyotas, Hondas and your other Japanese brands on the road with ease. All your stupid hate comments on this video are proof you've zero idea about how the Malibu performs on the road. It's not really a surprise because Japanese cars fanboys like you usually talk a lot of BS anyway.
Chevy's version of the Chrysler 300 and Nissan Murano. LOL
You need to review a barbershop....😂 Love your videos....
Handsome styleing, comfortable interior.Real guages real climate control. Outstanding gas millage no hybrid or ev crap to worry about. Buy one and you'll have a different appreciation of it. These Malibus get a bad rep because people drive them as rental car's. Rental car's have the s..t beaten out of them and are abused so people get in one with the attitude of I hate it before they even drive it. It is a good car. I also think the Japanese car fan boy's troll all Malibu videos anyway from all the comment sections I've read.Made in Kansas 🇺🇸
Did drive it , immediately return it to get out of it , such a low cost trash car 😂
@@cormaro13 No it's not your just shiting on it
@@robertriley1569 It actually is , I didn’t know you went car shopping with me rob or had this car for a rental during a Florida trip lol , but I can tell you enjoy the lowest quality so please go ahead and eat it , I’ll take my Japanese built car any day over this steaming pile of crap 😂
The radio was just awful couldn’t even do basic functions , car felt underpowered, couldn’t even be in it for more than 5 mins before I returned it to the rental company , trash by far 😂
@@cormaro13 Ok Toyota fanboy 🇯🇵🇯🇵♥️♥️
@@robertriley1569 sorry you cant afford a better brand 😂, got a 24 Toyota crown with zero problems , then I got a 24 Mustang gt premium needing a recall , not really a fan boy just know the difference a good brand and made in America / Korea 😆 what’s even more funny I owned 3 Chevys in 2021 before getting rid of them all for Mazdas
That should say enough about the quality I witnessed 😂 sorry America made is so poor it turns people into Japan fan boys , maybe quality should go up 🥴😂😂
Doesn't look much different from my 2016 Malibu.
Well, a 4 door Mustang is coming. It has been shown to Ford dealers in Las Vegas.
…….1800-Gonna need a new Transmission soon…Sincerely, Chevrolet 😂
Mine has over 20,000. Never had any issues and still drives like new. WTF are you talking about?
Didn't realize that GM was using cvt transmissions! Hard pass!
Isn't mustang a Ford car?
I like it for the $!
👍
I am the biggest fan of sedans, but it is unfortunate that this pile of rolling trash is still in production.
DIBOWTI
Like he said, this car is dated. I used to own a Malibu and the look is not all that different.
How does this compare to the Kia K5 base trim?
Both trash 😂
@@cormaro13 Ok Toyota fanboy.
@@joro7304 ok low quality boy , you enjoy that base model and people giving fake compliments 😆 I get plenty every time I drive my crown and 24 mustang gt premium
@@cormaro13 Oh so now you think people are giving fake compliments?! How old are you...16?? LMAO. And who compliments your tin can Toyota and pedestrian killing Mustang? Other Toyota and Mustang fanboys 🤣? You not only have zero quality but also zero taste in cars...Hahahaha!

Ford still makes muscle car Mustang not like Chevrolet! 😂
1.5 four bangers and CVT? 🤢 I would rather get used Tesla model 3 than this garbage 😂
Chevy Malibu…my Camry Rental wasn’t ready so they gave me a Malibu as an “equivalent”. Screw them and screw GM because bar none this was the worst car I’ve ever driven. The Camry might be so generic it sucks the soul out of the driver but at least it doesn’t feel like a Playstation steering wheel while you drive. Rock hard and CHEAP plastics that creak and moan in protest as the forces of physics apply themselves. Hard seats that belong in a class I can only label as “church pew”. A large exterior that’s the opposite of a Doctor who Tardis where somehow it’s actually smaller on the inside.
This car was awful, and frankly turned me off to GM entirely.
…and before people get the “well it can’t be the worst” argument out it really was. A Peugeot 208 I rented in Bulgaria with 75 hp 3-cylinder somehow had a more comfortable drivers seat while being more fun to drive because at least it had spirit. It wasn’t fast but it you didn’t feel like you were aging just sitting in it.
This car is such a Pos and really shows the neglect of respect when offering vehicle options to sedan lovers, which is still tens of millions of people
Have you owned/driven one? I own two they've been excellent so far
@@robertriley1569I’ve had 3 as rentals, 2014, 2019, and 2021. Each one got progressively worse. When they dumped the 2.0T they ruined the vehicle
Chevy uses Nissans cvt transmission 😂😂😂
Wrong 🤦🏻♂️
Is that supposed to be a joke?
It’s a pile of junk..I had a 2011 Malibu.. They were good & reliable back then. Modern GM is garbage.
Buying this when the Mazda 3, Toyota Camry/Corolla, and Honda Civic/Accord is simply insane. It’s class trailing in almost every possible metric…. Embarrassing GM product yet again.
It's class leading in price. After all the dealer discounts and rebates, a new Malibu is cheaper than a new Corolla or new Civic. Quite amazing for a midsize sedan
@@johnkonde1975”Quite amazing” when the ONLY metric it leads in is price? By what? $1-$2k? If you’re buying an objectively inferior vehicle in every measurable way just because it’s 2-4 total car payments less - you deserve the zero resale/trade value pile of junk you wasted your money on.
Yet another embarrassing comment
@@johnkonde1975it’s class leading cause they want this trash gone , it’s not worth the pricing vs it’s Japan counterparts
