It it ain’t broke. So many people act surprised that things like this sell. Not everyone is into high tech or giant vehicles. Everyone wants good gas mileage on giant vehicles and it doesn’t make any sense. Some of us love the feel of a traditional sedan. The best cars that were ever made were simple and had zero tech. All you need is a good looking comfortable adorable car that runs and has a nice ride and you are doing better than most. The best things don’t need an update every year to stay “competitive.” People think bigger is better. No. The more simple the more attractive. Love my 2024 Malibu
I still think it’s one of the best looking sedans on the market. I’ve thought that since it came out. There is still and always will be a market for simple cars like this.
Three years ago, I bought my first car from a dealership, and it's a 2021 Chevy Malibu. I love Chevy, hands down, and I spoke with my specialist yesterday about trading it in for the 2024 Malibu RS. I'm most definitely trading it in, and thank you for posting this. The Chevy Malibu, to me, is such an amazing car, and it fits my budget. It's no different from the 21 I have, and that's what I love about it. I've worked extremely hard this year, and trading in my 21 for the 24 RS will be an early birthday present to myself.
I have 42k on my ‘21. I bought it during the worst of the China Virus fiasco. 22k out the door and it’s my work car. Silverado stays in the garage and I get 35mpg. NO complaints!
The Malibu sells very well, despite the few changes over the last almost ten years. As mentioned, those discounts are attractive and make the Malibu a leader in the value segment, which use to be the Sonata and Optima/K5’s selling feature.
For the past like five years I have had my eyes on a Malibu. I currently have a 2019 Honda Accord but once I sat in the Malibu I love the comfort the lake space and I just love the Malibu so I got one 2024 black Malibu, RS, I wish it was a little faster but it’s OK. It’s a sexy car.
I bought this brand new with 2.0 liter engine and 9 speed auto and adaptive cruse control + lane keep asist and bose sound system for 25 K. It's fantastic
It’s a mistake GM is discontinuing the Malibu, instead they should redesign it for 2026. People are gradually going back to sedans, most folks can’t afford 40K SUVs and trucks, nothing wrong with a old school, well equipped sedan for under 30K.
I’m a luxury car guy… but specifically American luxury, like Lincoln, Cadillac, etc. and the thing appealing about the Malibu aside from pricing is that it doesn’t have as many points of failure… like trunk opening sensors or electric door handles that always fail on the Lincoln Continental. The more luxury I have in a car, the more expensive failures I always have to fix. If ONLY one of these Malibus had some pretty interior wood grain accents and anything that would dress up the interior at least a little bit…
I have this exact car in the same color, Radiant Red! 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨ATTENTION: If you are an interstate driver or do a lot of highway driving, you will LOVE this car! I own a 2012 Chevy Malibu LT and a 2024 Chevy Malibu RS. Dont sleep on these cars, theyre easy to work on and cost effective. Pro Tip: Park in shade/out of the elements as much as possible, this is going to help your car age slower.
Bought a ‘21 during the height of the China Virus “pandemic”. Paid 22k out the door. Has 42k on it now. I take it to work every day and it has done it very well! No complaints and I saved a lot of fuel by leaving my Silverado in the garage when going to work!
This RS is like having the thrill of a turbocharger mixed with the gas mileage from a smart car. Everytime i get in to drive, i feel like im driving off the lot its so damn new i havent seen another 1 around me yet😂😂
The Premier was discontinued in the spring of 2022 because when the supply of the LTG 2.0 Turbo (252hp) engines ran out they stopped production. It came standard with the 9 speed transmission. I ordered one in January 2022 and delivery was in May. This was at the end of the pandemic. The dealer could not promise delivery because end production date was unsure. It was very affordable considering the competition out there.A really fun car with plenty of power.Chevy never did a great job of advertisement for the complete Malibu line and especially the Premier model. Recently as others have said they now have decided to terminate the complete Malibu car line in November 2024.
I just traded in a 2021 Hyundai Elantra for the 2024 Malibu, I went for the 1ls in white. I did give up some features such as heated seats and whatnot, but I didn’t really need all those features. I wanted something simple and basic, and the Malibu delivers while at the same time I gain more comfort with the Malibu as compared to the Elantra. I’m hoping to get a good 10 years of use out of this car
My local dealer is discounting the 2024 RS for 22k. Brand new, roomy sedan for 22k? Thats 2k less than a base trim Civic. The Civic will probably run with minimal issues for 200k miles, but if someone is looking for a no nonsense sedan...22k is really hard to beat.
Got mine for $22,795. Wanted no leather, sunroof, and absolute basic as possible without it being the size of a Honda Fit. Only thing this car desperately needs is LED headlights.
This is now the only American sedan to be mid-size and FWD. Such vehicles became more common in the 1980s but will soon officially become a thing of the past.
@@BachmanAutoGroupLouisvilleIt’s still in production and is planned to end this November. So the window is still open for those who want a brand new American “1980s style” sedan before it closes.
That was a great in depth review, like you think heated seats and steering wheel would be nice, either way on the sun roof, and swap out the light bulbs for LED's. I still like it👍🏻👍🏻
What’s wrong with it? It’s a proven car that is beautiful and upscale, and it’s has a great ride as well. It’s also fuel efficient and very reliable. GM’s decision to discontinue Malibu was IGNORANT and STUPID, and it will have consequences.
I worked for a company that exclusively issued only Malibu. We were getting the hybrids, then they were getting canceled, then they continued the Malibu again but we had switched to trailblazers being pacific northwest. My ex had one, a base ls, it actually looked extremely attractive for a 2016 in black and chrome. I cut and buffed it and added LED headlights before she crashed at 60k miles in 21.
I would have gotten another Malibu (got my first in 2013, kept it 11 years), but I wanted a bit more space. I thought about going with the Equinox, but they are a lot more expensive than I wanted to spend. I went with the Trax, LT trim. It's now Chevy's cheapest model, since they don't make the Cruze anymore. I'm very happy with it so far, but I've read horror stories of the inside-motor rubber wet belt on the 1.2Ls snapping between 50-90k miles when it should last 150k. We'll see. Update: I read to keep the oil clean - I'll change it at 1000 miles and 3000 miles during breakin, then keep it topped off and change it every 5000 miles.
The Malibu should not be discontinued. GM is making a very bad decision. Sales were outstanding for this car! GM makes mistakes that will diminish their marketing standards and company name.
The Malibu doesn't get enough love from GM. They are all focused on SUVs and trucks so they don't put literally ANY effort into the Malibu. It could be a great car but they don't care
Theres three reasons i purchased this car brand new a month ago in the rs trim 1 I'm a die hard gm chevy fan 2 its not an ev or hybrid and its still got great milage 3 this vehicle being the first car I've ever purchased brnad new off the lot really didn't make me feel that bad in the financial department lol i can justify that it was a really good puchase The one and only thing i would change is that lane keep assist feature with the electronic steering rack i just dont trust it but, im sure thats a really common thing in just about any vehicle today...all my prior cars and trucks were 20-25 years old but, i always paid cash for em and if anything broke i could fix it and after looking at the malibu its pretty simplistic and i like that about it too
I just rented a 2024 Malibu and my inner vent did the exact same thing! If the louver was anything less than fully open, the force from the fan would blow it shut!
Well, GM just announced this week that the Malibu WILL BE DISCONTINUED! The news broke last Thursday, 5-9-2024😢😮! GM is no longer committed to building cars; internal combustion cars that is! 😥👎
Was in the market for a car, was dead set on a Malibu, even had one as a rental from some...unfortunate circumstances...had fun driving it, but went for a 2025 Equinox LT and I can see why the sedan is dying, the Equionox is enjoyable to drive, has all the modern amenities and is incredibly user friendly. If you're here about to buy one of these spend the extra on a Traiblazer or Equinox.
These cars love to go into limp mode. I'd never buy one with all the experience I've had in them. But when they work they work well and comfortably. The suspension feels cheap and wobbly after diving them into 15,000 business driveways though.
Discontinuing this car is just another GM blunder in a long line of screwups. Hyundai/Kia, Honda and Toyota are all investing in redesigns for their sedans but all Barra cares about is profits above all else! Ridiculous
I agree the Malibu is a nice looking car and offers value..but I think GM made a mistake by only offering this car with only that 1.5 turbo engine...that engine is too small and under powered for this car...the Malibu was alot nicer with the other engines GM used to put in the car...the 1.5 liter engine is the main reason I passed on the Malibu..the other reason was because the infotainment system is out of date..but GM could had easily fixed that with the Malibu
Stop being so hard on a car thts just meant to be used as an everyday car to get u from point A to B. Talking about the doors feeling cheap blah blah blah, complaining about the door trim, it can be cleaned simple as tht, ur not driving the door. dont expect the car to go 0-6 in 2-3 sec, its not meant for tht. The avg person isn't driving a super car. When u get to tht level then u can be picky. Only thing i agree with him on this was the heated seats I believe tht shd be a must on all cars no matter how low the level is.
Tell you what nobody is going to love soon - any EMP, transmissions hack or CPU failure can take you off the road. Then all you have is an expensive paperweight you can't even physically start to drive.

Exactly. Malibu is a great car for daily driving. My 2022 Malibu has almost 16k miles on it, and I love driving it. Ride quality is so smooth.
Awesome car.
No SIRIUS radio you have to stream from your phone. A big mistake . RS version.
