My dad bought me my first 870 in the early 70's from JCPenny for $89. Thousands of rounds later it still works like the day I bought it. It even spent part of a day at the bottom of a pond when my son dropped it. I don't believe I have ever replaced a single part on that gun. Sad to see what became of Remington.

True, Remington is a shadow of its former self. I just picked up an 870 a few months ago and compared to my father's 870 (his was made in the late 80s) the main different I notice is the plastic furniture. Everything else looks the same and both shoot like a dream.

I've owned a lot of different shotguns, and the Remington 870 has always been me and my Father's (who was a Vietnam Veteran )
    go to choice as well.
I own 2 of them, one older model with a wood stock, and a newer model with a camouflage print Synthetic stock.
I have Fired thousands of rounds out of my older one, and i never have had any issues with it.
The 870 is a very durable and reliable pump shotgun.
I also own a Stoeger M3000 Police Tactical semiautomatic shotgun,
    With 6+1 3 inch shell & 7+1 2¾ Inch shell capacity.
At first I was skeptical about buying a Turkish made firearm, but I picked it up for an insanely great bargain,
    so I took a chance.
And so far I have to say it has endured some pretty grueling torture tests I've put it through and has proven itself to be an extremely reliable semiautomatic shotgun.
I appreciate you and John's videos brother, me and my father (Who just recently passed away from cancer due to being exposed to Agent Orange defoliaging chemicals)
We have enjoyed your videos for many years now.
You guys keep up the great work 💖

Freaking love it and it had to be owned by a SWAT officer or LEO. What I'm gettin at is this video made me really want an 870. I like the 1200 more. Winchester made a 1200 in stainless, and is the only actual stainless steel pump or semi auto that I know of. I have seen pump and semi auto shotguns with stainless barrels, aluminum receivers, nickel plated or other plating that looks like stainless, but the Winchester 1200 is the only fully stainless shotgun I know of. I prefer stainless guns, so I'd choose a stainless Winchester 1200 over any other winchester shotgun. The sad part is Winchester ended up doing what everybody else does with stainless shotguns, they took the stainless 1200 and simply plated it to make it look stainless and stopped making the stainless ones.

I think you made an excellent choice. I like semi auto because you can fire with one hand. I like the Mossberg 590 as it holds one more round, but it also has a bayonet lug that can share a bayonet with your Colt AR.

The nice thing about most shotguns is they are associated with wonderful memories like hunting with friends or your family. I had a friend who grew up so poor that a single shot 410 was their only shotgun and a source of meat for their family. He simply never missed! Like Hickok45! My favorite is my Citori 20 gauge “ lightening” over and under for all the same reasons. A great bird gun.

Out of those. My number 1 would for sure be the Browning A5, beautiful wood stock, reliable, and great design. My second would be the Winchester M1897, classic shotgun, reliable, iconic. Used in WW1. And my number 3 would be the Winchester Model 12, reliable, well built. I hate polymer stocks, you are right they are less prone to deteriorating, but there is nothing like a beautiful wood stock and a blued finish, nothing beats it. I’m a traditional person, I love everything old especially when it comes to firearms. I would pick the Browning auto 5 to keep.
