    This sound like advice for people with high porosity hair. Sounds like good advice for people who put chemicals and heat in their hair or transitioning. I appreciate being reminded to change my water that I use in my hair and hoping it will make a positive difference from using softer and filter water instead of the hard water my state provides. My hair loves water and won't respond to any products without water because I have low porosity hair.

All the negative things contributing to hygral fatigue that you mentioned I’ve been experiencing and I will try to stop further damage....however I’m wanting to know if doing so my hair will ‘reverse’ the effects or will be strengthened back to its normal curly state again?

    • @JoyBeforeHer

      • Alexandra • Yes from what I’ve read, adding protein to your hair over time will help to strengthen it back to its natural state. But do some more research to see what you could do cuz I’ve never had it so I’m not completely sure.

    I have really bad hypofatigue but also low porosity hair should I still use more proteins?

    • @deliaisaac805
      @deliaisaac805 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tried to help research this and kept hitting walls because low porosity often means protein sensitive as well. A happy middle is the use of coconut oil as a pre-poo because it has protein but not an overloading amount. Applying heat to open the cuticle is good to help soak up the oil and let out some of the moisture. Something else is Humectants, which attract moisture and maybe avoiding those in your products like, honey, agave and glycerine until your hair goes back to normal may be helpful. Sources below:

    That was very informative,beautiful curly girly ;-) I deffo need protein,and a lot of it.Do you apply the pre-poo oil on previously washed and dried hair? 'Cos otherwise applying it on top of all the styling products doesn't make any sense. That's the only reason I don't pre-poo so often, it's a double work, I have to wash out at least the styling products,let it dry,apply the oil, wait and then wash again this time with shampoo. It's an odyssey.If you know better way,please share, I'll appreciate it muchly.

    • @JoyBeforeHer
      @JoyBeforeHer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Pre-poo is only to be done on dirty hair before washing it. Some people might do it the day before and leave the oil in for longer, but I usually do it around an hour before washing my hair.

    • @katangel8329
      @katangel8329 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoyBeforeHer thanks for answering back. Yes, I've heard that some people would apply the oil on dirty hair,but I can't see how the oil would get to your hair with all the styling products, natural oil and dirt that has been accumulating through the week (provided that you wash once a week). I don't know, I'm not a specialist -just applying some common sense.

    • @JoyBeforeHer
      @JoyBeforeHer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Katya Angelova The oil is meant to protect the hair from being stripped of its natural oils during the shampoo process. It also works to help detangle. Despite everything else that has been on your hair, oil seems heavier so it gets in there. So it doesn’t matter if you have product in your hair, the oil coats the hair helping it to be more manageable and moisturized before washing

    • @AnaGonzalez0717
      @AnaGonzalez0717 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Catarina Mendes just wanted to reply Incase no one else replies to you. If you have flakes, a scalp massager is extremely helpful! Before I found out about scalp massagers, I would use tea tree oil to help with my scalp. I would dilute it with water but it depends on your skin and hair type I have hear of people just rubbing it on there fingertips and spreading it through their scalp but because my scalp gets so dry my scalp would burn if I did that so u had to dilute it. I also get very bad flakiness during the winter because of the cold just like my skin gets dry. Where I come from, it’s a very common misconception that it’s because you have dirty hair that you get flakies but washing your hair too often actually makes it a lot worse. Also if you have flakiness year round, it may be due to the shampoo you use. Hope this helps.

      For stylers I like to use a hair smoothie (Maui moisture is my fav) and then for a gel I like to use the LA looks extreme sports gel and after it dries it might be crunchy but if you scrunch it out I’ll be fluffy and nice! Leave-in is basically like a hair smoothie except wayyy lighter so I don’t know if your hair gets weighed down easily so chose what works for you. I like to use the Shea moisture frizz free foam (instead of mousse) on days I don’t wash my hair . Hope this helped!
