Did not know you are Latina and from the Bronx. So am I and I have to agree with you, curly hair is frowned upon in the Hispanic community which made my journey that much more difficult. So happy to hear about this salon.
Angely Duran so true!! My mom always tells me why I don’t straighten my hair anymore and that my hair “looks better” straight 🙄. She naturally has curls too!
Girl you ain’t lying. My mom has naturally curly hair but she got a keratin treatment to kill all her curl and she gets it blown out every week. Me and my sister are on our curly hair journey and she is not a fan, but we don’t care lol
Chely Margarita same with my mom! She gets keratin treatments and flat irons her hair all the time. My sister and I have been doing the curly method for the past two years and she STILL making comments about our curly hair. I feel ya girl! ❤️
So she literally cut it into layers, like straight hair.... this defy's everything ive always heard about curly hair. This came our AMAZING!!! cant wait to take my daughters..
Added a bunch of layers to my hair after watching this video. We have very similar curls and i have been too scared to add too many shorter layers. It turned out well ☺️
Me encantó la ultima parte del video donde hablas de la importancia que existan salones donde nos ayuden empoderar nos de nuestros rizos no que solamente busquen "arreglar el pelo alaciandonoslos, espero que haya pronto mas salones así en todo el mundo. Gracias!
I'm puerto rican born in the Bronx. I'm so glad to finally embrace my curls. So true about the Latin community, I was not encouraged to growing up. My mom would say, "Que murusa." She just didn't know how to help me with my hair. So glad I found the curly hair method. I am finally happy with my hair. Thanks for the vid..
I am Greek and most women get Keratin treatments and straighten their hair all the time. I have naturally curly hair and I rarely straighten it, but the notion is that only straight hair is presentable ad sexy... curly hair is messy, unattended hair to them... if only they knew the struggle right? Haha! New subscriber here and loving your videos!
Your hair looks gorgeous. I live in New Zealand and cannot find a stylist who understands curly hair. They all do that thing where they slide the scissors down strands of hair which just makes the ends super frizzy. I had an argument with my last stylist who insisted that I could not achieve full curls in my hair. I know this is not true because I had them when I lived in London (and had a different stylist who was experienced cutting African hair). When I talked to her about curl type (I think I have 2b, 2c, and 3a curls in my hair) she said, "I have no idea what that means." It's so frustrating because I really want to embrace my beautiful curls rather than discourage them. I love your hair.
Unfortunately a lot of stylists are stuck in the old school, the way they were taught. Dealing mainly with straight hair. As with any technical profession a truly passionate and great stylist is about innovation, embracing new ideas, learning new techniques and building on their knowledge. I hope you have found someone who understands your hair since your comment 😊
So true!! I tried a “curly hair stylist” and he did this “slide cutting” to my hair and didn’t even understand why it’s bad for my curl pattern ugh. The technique is supposed to add texture but I don’t need extra texture all it does is create frizz for us curly girls.
I can so relate to going growing up and everyone hating curly hair, always wanting to straighten it, as if you weren’t properly groomed if it wasn’t neat and smooth. Now I embrace my curls. Me encanta tu corte de pelo.
Your hair turned out so beautiful! I would love to get a rezocut. I'm Latina as well, I I completely agree with you it's really cool to see Latin women Embrace their natural hair texture.
I remember being a little girl with thick curly hair and my aunts giving me dirty looks while snickering at my hair. All hope isn’t lost lol. It is so refreshing to see a hispanic woman embracing the sense of community that is needed for curly headed women. LOVE THIS. This video confirms that booking my Rezo haircut was the right decision
Your hair looks awesome 👏- very beautiful! I’m a New Yorker too- live on Long Island. Family from the Bronx and I was born in Queens. Had a Devacurl cut and not thrilled with uneven layers. Going to new hairdresser next month and she’s doing a wet cut. I did highlights few weeks ago but now my hair looks a little dried out. Thinking about not doing this again and just getting a glaze with a single process color next month.
Hey 👋, latina from Brooklyn and it’s so true. It’s sad that curly hair can be seen that way by many or parents just don’t know how to manage their children’s hair because they themselves were never taught. It’s a cycle. I hated going to hair salon so much that even as a young adult it made me anxious. I’ve been rocking my curly hair for three years and it feels so much longer. Loved the video, such an amazing cut !
Curls on fleek!!! You are so right about the Hispanic/Latin community wanting to "fix" curly hair by straightening. My mom always wants me to straighten my hair and for most of my life i did. I finally said enough is enough. I love my curly hair and i wear it natural now. Thank you for inspiring me to do so.
I live close enough to the salon to give it a go, but there are soooooo many awful reviews online... like way more than you typically see salons have. And a lot of the bad reviews are mentioning that they think only people with a large social media following get good cut/service. I really want to get a great cut, but I also really don’t want to leave in tears.
Chatty Tabby I know!!! I was so shocked to see how many terrible reviews they had. If there had only been a few, it wouldn’t bother me much. But there’s more negative reviews than I feel comfortable with.
Hi I got my hair cut by this salon in July and I didn't get a rezocut but they cut all of the hair the same way and it wasn't really the way I like to wear my hair. I left with my hair feeling a lot tighter and more ringlety than I like when I have 2C/3A hair and I prefer more of a curly/wavy look. The staff was very nice and I appreciated their methods and explaining everything but I just wasn't a fan of the way my hair ended up. I also don't like diffusing my hair and they diffused it which made it very ringlety.
Wow really? I’m surprised. I’ve only seen their results on Instagram and the pictures are amazing. They also have almost a 5 star rating on Facebook. Most of the pictures I’ve seen are not of influencers though. I feel like the results speak for themselves from what I’ve seen. And 3 different people have told me about their great results before I got my cut. But it’s up to the person to try for themselves.
I got a haircut here and was not impressed... my haircut didn't even make the cut for a before and after pic...no pun intended lmaooooo its $150 for the master stylist to cut your hair...I paid $76 for a Rezo cut... they advertise using Rezo products but they used Ouidad on me. I went with high hopes but was disappointed ☹
Giiiirl thank you so much for this video, I have been in a journey for some time, my hair is like yours, my mom didn't know how to do it so she was always putting in a ponytail, I was looking so bad.. When I started trying to style it it was so awful for me that the best was to iron it and trying to have it straight I thought was more easy until I start having some health issues and my hair start coming out from my hair, now my hair is on recovery is slowly getting full and I'm trying to keep it healthy, no more straight hair, slowly start getting fuller and now I'm trying to rock them, still being a journey, I don't even know how to ask for a curly hair shortcut, this was so helpful and I love how proud are you of your curls! Thank you!
I'm so excited to find your channel! I'm mixed, half Puerto Rican, have the same face shape as yours - which is always so hard to describe when looking for an awesome cut online - and similar curls (I have more 3a/b not really 2s) so when I saw your channel I was not surprised you're Puerto Rican too and, as always, it's super empowering when women who are like you are doing well in the world! Hair wise, my hairstylists dont usually understand how to give me volume without cutting super short and dont realize that just because its curly doesnt mean it can take heavy products, super super frustrating. So, I'm hoping using your cut as reference will help them! 😄 You look fabulous! And Nubia seems so so so sweet! So fantastic you were able to support her amazing work and loving attitude about curls with your own! ❤
I love to see and here Joy before her all she do is so perfect she very pretty and she sings real nice.i love her God bless her and all she do is nice.lizzie.
I never thought that curly hair could have bangs! You look so great! i recently stopped having hair straightening treatments and i came hear to learn how i can takecare of it better.
Your hair looks awesome! I am in need of a new stylist I wish that place was near me! I didn't know you grew up in the Bronx I went to High School there, Queens girl! I now live on Long Island. I need to do a search for certain salons! VERY hard to find someone who cuts curls good. I never heard of Rezocut, if I find someone who does it I'll have to post a video of the experience also. Thanks for the info!!
Girl, same in the Portuguese community salons. STRAIGHTEN that hair, weekly blow outs. Aye! I love your hair. Unfortunately, I've had two stylist leave back to back each replacement has proceed my hair hair to straw :( As much as I love long hair, It;s not for me, I love my asymmetrical long pixie, but I've got to get it healthy again. So glad I found you.
I agree w/u 100% on our Latin culture. I have yet to find one here in Los Angeles. If you know of any plz share. Tus rizos están preciosos. Never change you! ❤️
Thanks so much for filming your experience! I was able to hear most of it and it really helped me understand my hair better. I have added Ouidad to my list of product lines to try. I really like the way they classify hair textures so that it includes what most of us have - several curl patterns on our heads! You're awesome!
Kelly, your hair looks amazing!! I had recently started straightening mine again as I was losing hope. Now I am thinking a Rëzo Cut may be the answer for the girls I want. Thank you for the inspiration!
Love the haircut your hair looks so great! Thanks for this video. I understand when you say how many women in traditional Hispanic salons have the mindset that curly hair is “ugly” and that it should be straight. because of that mindset I was conditioned to believe that I was only pretty if my hair was straight when I was younger which was so far from the truth! Keep spreading the awareness! 😊💕
So crazy how she was explaining how other girls will see the similarity in hair texture and say I can have hair like her, because that's literally what I thought lol
I am not hispanic, white, 65 and crazy curly hair. Glad to hear of a product that I can use, Ouidad. Prone to dryness and going very gray. Thanks for the video.
Your hair came out beautiful! I went there in November and I loved it!! My hair came out exactly how I wanted it. I highly recommend Utopia Salon in NJ to anyone interested in a curly cut.
So happy I found this video! I just got a Rezocut this past Saturday at Utopia!! Can't figure out how to easily style it now! I don't want to take the 1-2 hours to style it like they did. Excited to finish your video
I had never heard of the rezo cut before I joined a curly girl group. Iv'e seen side by sides from people who had the deva cut and I think the rezo cut looks way better. You hair looks amazing!
Omg Kelly your cut looks amazing 💜💜💜 I love it! Our hair is literally the same 😂I can’t wait to get mine! I am going to try to use gel only and see how it does!
Sydney Lynn Thank you!😘 I cant wait till you get yours too!! And yes I’m trying the only gel thing for a while to see if that makes a big difference for me
I enjoyed this video, so detailed and to the point without the fluff. Can you do an update? Would you choose this cut over the: Ouidad Carve and Slice, Devacut, The Diametrix Cut, and other cuts out there?
I’ve been cutting my own hair for years now because all the stylists I’ve been to treat my 2B hair like straight hair. Adding unnecessary products and blow drying.
It looks AMAZING! You have been so helpful for me in getting back to my curls, thank you! You are so easy to listen too and thank you for always getting to the point oh and you and your brother are HILARIOUS! LOVED your singing
I am so obsessed with your hair and curly hair in general, mines wavy (but my mum's is curly- but her's was the same as mine at my age) and I hope mine does the same one day. 😍😍
So hard to find a Rezo stylist, even here in ATL. I agree too, with, "less is more" but it's hard to strike a balance between enough and too much product!! Love the Rezo cut!
They did a great job! Would you style your hair like they did again because you obviously do it differently and your curls looked so much fuller? Are there any techniques they did when they were putting product and drying your hair that you started doing in our daily routine?
Maribel DLR Thank you! Yeah my hair looked different when she styled it and my guess is because she only used a gel. I usually use gel and a cream or gel and mousse so it makes my curls tighter and defined. I had never used that gel that she used, so I’m not sure if it’s a lighter hold gel which is why my curls were extra big and loose
@@JoyBeforeHer Yeah I noticed when you asked about cream products and she said you should be fine w/just gel....I loved your Cool response LOL bc we all know you like your creams! I know you usually finger coil some pieces which always makes your curls look great but your hair looked nice and curly not to mention big when she did it too....both ways looked great on you.
I’m from the boogie down too lol and you’re absolutely right hair salons in the BX all they want to do is straighten up our beautiful curls.. ty for sharing this information your hair is gorgeous mamma 🥰🥰
You and your hair are beautiful. I just found your vids about Nubia, her salons and the Rezo cut. I’m 67 years old and my hair is much less curly and thinner as I age but I MUST find a way to get up there and have Nubia cut my hair!!! Thank you for your vids!!!
Kelly you look absolutely stunning!!! You curls look beautiful, bouncy and shiny, the cut is definitely more balanced and your makeup lovely!!! 🌺 I hope you see that my comment on your Ouidad VS. Cantu video was not meant to insult you in anyway, I grew up in the hair industry all my life, and although "curly hair is forgiving" (and I do "trim" myself too.) Sometimes it then does grow unevenly and I thought it might not be the product so much, but that unevenness. Nubia knows her stuff!!! Love you and ALL your vids. 💗🌼 Blessings and Merry Christmas!!!
hipretty Thank you! I don’t remember your comment because I get a lot everyday lol. But it’s true, self cutting is cool every now and then but it can definitely make for an uneven cut long term!
I've been a die-hard believer in the original, curl-by-curl Deva cut for many years. I'm intrigued by the Rezo cut and my husband says it makes more sense than the curl-by-curl cut. So, five years later, do you still get the Rezo cut for your hair? I'd appreciate your input, before I take the big step!
hi i'm a new subscriber! i have curly hair and it took me a long time to embrace it! but i'm glad i did! but my half sisters mom is hispanic and her daughter has curly hair but always straighten her's and her daughter and tbh it doesn't look good it looks pretty damaged . she also pointed out my brother for having "black hair " and that curly hair is "good hair". it was kind of sad but your right about a fair amount of hispanic ppl look down on curls or kinks. When i want to change my hair i just wear wigs cuz i have to protect my hair since its thin texture like yours! also thanx for the tutorials their really helping!
your curls look so perfect! I want to get the Rezo cut so bad but I live in MA. One of these days I have to book a flight to Jersey just for Nubia to cut my hair.
Love love your haircut 💇 awesome and gorgeous!👍😊I have very long hair(glutes long) and wavy, but looking for more curl. It’s hard finding a good salon where I live, but your video will help to show any salon the type of hair cut and curl in hair needed. Thanks!👍
I have to say your curls are beautiful and so are you of course I have thin curly hair I always wanted to have a kind of look like yourself I love the volume but I feel that most products would weight my hair down and also I dye my hair so I don’t have the same type of curls like before you are a very inspirational person I want to embrace my curls too plus I have Latina curls lol thank you for the videos that you had post very insight full
I like your hairdo. Maybe the next time I visit my relatives in/near the Bronx they can tell me where this hair salon is at so I can take a chance at it. You are definitely correct. We need more salons with people who care about the type of hair we were born with than to try to make you look like a fake beauty queen while burning your hair and scalp crisp. Apparently the Latino/a attitude towards curly hair can be summarized with the word "mistake" or rather, "pelo malo" ("bad hair"). That kind of attitude towards curls affects more people than we could ever imagine. I remember as a child growing up in Puerto Rico that so many moms would do "alizados" (straighten their hair chemically) and have their daughters, even as young as eight or nine, go through that. My mom never liked my curly hair: she took me to so many hair stylists who did everything they could to make my hair look "pretty", to which she meant "straighter." At age 15 I had an "alizado"... which burned the scalp in my crown. But I had to get my straight hair, which was "denied" to me. It wasn't until I realized my curly hair is all right that I stopped the insanity of the chemical relaxers. I've had my hair in my natural curls for the last twenty-three years, but recently I began to really take care of it with the right products. Now my hair looks awesome. It took me years to reach this point: I'm 45. Right now, I am struggling with my elder daughter's attitude towards her curls - which she inherited from me. She wants straight hair -and thinks she can get it by doing a pony tail to make her scalp hair "straighter". It only makes it look dryer. I've tried to make her see it by doing her hair with the same products I use, only for her to give me a massive fit of anger. She's twelve. She doesn't get it. I strongly believe more talk about confronting this negativity towards curls and the stereotypes surrounding it can help us overcome them. Videos like yours help so much in this quest. Please, keep up the good work. More conscious moms need people like you to speak to our daughters the message that curls are not "bad", but beautiful. (I mean, when I first saw you, I thought you were a younger Mariah Carey! :-) )
Did not know you are Latina and from the Bronx. So am I and I have to agree with you, curly hair is frowned upon in the Hispanic community which made my journey that much more difficult. So happy to hear about this salon.

Can you do a video where you straighten it to show the versatility of the cut. Is it just as beautiful straightened ? Love the bounce !💕

S.E. Fritz Wow that’s awesome!! Hope it goes well 😊
Love the haircut your hair looks so great! 😊💕
Nicole Garijo Thank you! 💕
Holy cow! Your hair is gorgeous! I used to have hair similar to yours, but after children it just went frizzy.
You look so much like Beyoncé! Your hair and skin are amazing. I’m getting my first rezo cut with Nubia on Friday. Can’t wait
I was thinking she looks like Beyonce with this cut too
Cool to see these women with straight hair loving our curls
You hair looks amazing!
your hair is my dreammm😍 i can’t wait to cut my hair now 😩
Yesss!!! I’m so happy you loved your cut! Nubia is a magical angel!❤️ Your hair looks great!
Your curls are a dream!
Re: this lady, Nubia. We need to clone her. Stat!
Omg Kelly your cut looks amazing 💜💜💜 I love it! Our hair is literally the same 😂I can’t wait to get mine! I am going to try to use gel only and see how it does!
Sydney Lynn Thank you!😘 I cant wait till you get yours too!! And yes I’m trying the only gel thing for a while to see if that makes a big difference for me
Ur hair is goals, taking this video to the hairdressers tomorrow!! Wish me luck lol. Love from London ❤️
I enjoyed this video, so detailed and to the point without the fluff.
Can you do an update? Would you choose this cut over the:
Ouidad Carve and Slice, Devacut, The Diametrix Cut,
and other cuts out there?
I’ve been cutting my own hair for years now because all the stylists I’ve been to treat my 2B hair like straight hair. Adding unnecessary products and blow drying.
It looks AMAZING! You have been so helpful for me in getting back to my curls, thank you! You are so easy to listen too and thank you for always getting to the point oh and you and your brother are HILARIOUS! LOVED your singing
Amanda Bradley Aww thank you I’m so glad!! 💖
You look awesome! You can tell that you have layers but they totally blend in to on another!
Kristina Thank you! 😊
I am so obsessed with your hair and curly hair in general, mines wavy (but my mum's is curly- but her's was the same as mine at my age) and I hope mine does the same one day. 😍😍
You look amazing. I’m about to get this cut and I’m so scared yet excited.
You're so gorgeous! 😊 you resemble Beyonce with your new cut. ✨
Beautiful results 🌺
So dope! Love how your hair came out!
Looks so beautiful! Love it! Makes me want to give up my blowouts and embrace the curls 24/7!
Lauren Palmer Thank you! It’s worth it, but only if it’s something you want! 💕
Thank you for such your amazing skills in cutting curly hair, I have learnt a lot and I will follow your channel.
Your hair is so beautiful😍😍😍 Love the cut and color!!
So awesome! I am really ever to try it out. Don't know how it will be on my hair but would try it.
Obsessed!😍 I recently started my hair journey & it’s so liberating. You’re def one of my inspo’s✨
Moni F I’m so glad to hear that!! 💕
I need to find a place in Florida and get my hair cut in this style.
I know you usually finger coil some pieces which always makes your curls look great but your hair looked nice and curly not to mention big when she did it too....both ways looked great on you.
your hair is my hair!!!! omg its crazy! everything you say!! frizz is always my prob too!! this is crazy!!!!🥰😍
I really love your hair, looks so beautiful & full! I have booked an appointment for Jan.
Thanks for replying back! 😊Happy Holidays!🎄
Thanks for sharing. I wish they has this type of cut where I live. You look like Beyonce!!! But... even prettier. Love your hair :)
Kelly, your hair came out gorgeous!!! ♥️🥰👏🏻💗
Cubie Vinson Thank you! 💖
Aww I love it, my cousin and I went there in October and we loved it
Your cut is so beautiful!
Your hair is amazing, Kelly! Love the cut🔥🔥🔥
Leslie Acevedo Thank you!!💖
hi i'm a new subscriber! i have curly hair and it took me a long time to embrace it! but i'm glad i did! but my half sisters mom is hispanic and her daughter has curly hair but always straighten her's and her daughter and tbh it doesn't look good it looks pretty damaged . she also pointed out my brother for having "black hair " and that curly hair is "good hair". it was kind of sad but your right about a fair amount of hispanic ppl look down on curls or kinks. When i want to change my hair i just wear wigs cuz i have to protect my hair since its thin texture like yours! also thanx for the tutorials their really helping!
Stunning~ you're gorgeous..thank you so much for putting this video out for us
Hi am a first timer, luv your video's. Can you plz tell me what color is in your hair am inlove with it. Tks much
Love that hair!!! You definitely pull it off ❤️❤️
your curls look so perfect! I want to get the Rezo cut so bad but I live in MA. One of these days I have to book a flight to Jersey just for Nubia to cut my hair.
Katherine Grullon It’s worth it! Take a trip to NY and stop at the salon, it’s an hour away
@@JoyBeforeHer I will soon! Cant wait!
Wow I love it 🥰
I just trimmed my hair layers by my self
Cuz I didn’t find any professional in curly/wavy hair in my country
Same thinking ..
Beautiful! I love this cut on you. 😍 & I just remembered that she spoke at an event back in June called Philly Curlz
Briana Marie TV Thank you!! Yes she did, I couldn’t make that one but I heard it was good 😊
You look like Shakira now! Very pretty
