Joy Before Her Hey I am a new subscriber ☺️ I have the same type of hair as you but I get a lot of frizz in the back of my head like the noticeable parts what can I do to get them more defined and less frizzy?
Hey thanks for this video I understand now. My hair is all over the place the top of my hair since it’s more natural it’s like a 3 but it gets really dry and frizzy middle of my hair is a 2b/c dry and frizzy and the bottom is like 1/2a because I bleached it many times. I wish my hair was more curly and not be all over the place lol.
when i go to the pool, people are like “why is your hair straight? i thought you had curly hair? are you lying” like no when my hair is wet it’s straight and when it dries, it’s curly
As a guy with 3A curls, its so hard explaining to people, it's my actual hair, and not something i've had made. I also found it really hard to find out which curly type i had, since many people kept saying different stuff. Im happy i found this video, to really help me, and understand my hair better.
You should do a video where you let subscribers send you pictures of their hair and you help them determine through picture what their curl pattern is ! Cause I still struggle😩
I really liked that she included photos for all curl types. Most people just show the squiggly line diagrams, which don't really show much of anything. Seeing photo examples of each type was extremely helpful. I knew that my hair was *somewhere* between 2b and 3b. Now I know that it is 2c at the top and 3a at the bottom. I was only able to narrow it down after seeing the explicit examples in this video!
That might be never ending 😅 lol. You didn’t see a picture that represented your curls the most? If not, it could just be that your hair is in between two types which is normal
I have 2c/3a curls too! My hair always looks straight when it’s wet and transforms as it dries. I totally get it girl! Thanks for this video, it really helped me🙏 I am finally learning how to truly take care of and style my curls!
i remember i was in my business class and the girl i sat next to was like “elanorrr, your hair is curly, who curled it for you?” i explained to her that my hair is naturally curly and if i were to curl it, it would look a lot nicer than this, she then replied “ohhh, i don’t believe you, but it still looks nice :)”
OMG! I have the same experience all the time. There is this one girl who has dead straight hair and hates me because she thinks I'm trying to hide the hair curling secrets. I find it's more common if you have 3a-b hair curls or curls around that, my friends with tighter curls don't have the same thing happen and find my struggles hilarious.
I have 2c curls that tend to spiral a bit and because of my low porosity, I don't get too much frizz. I have been accused multiple times for "lying" about my hair as well. feelsbadman.jpg
That's how everybody's hair is unless it's straight. Curls get weighed down when your hair is longer, thicker, has a lot of product in it, etc. So you might have 3a textured hair when it's very short, but then it becomes 2b when your hair is really long. Since your ends aren't weighed down nearly as much as the rest of your hair, you will likely have more texture on the bottom than on the top. There are ways to sort of fix this, but the looser the texture the harder it is to avoid. It can look nice though, so you may not even want to change it if in you think it is. You can make your hair's texture fully come out by getting specific haircuts. You could even get a haircut made specifically for your hair type, but only if you wear it natural all the time, because it won't look good with straightened hair. Sorry for the long comment!
Thank you for this!!! I have combo 2c and 3a (mostly 2c with ringlets scattered throughout, still early in my curly journey). For years hair dressers would just blow dry my hair straight and recommended flat ironing to get rid of the "messiness". I'm finally taking care of it like I should, and it feels so much healthier! I'm even brave enough at salons now to tell them to leave the waves/curls alone. Watching videos like yours have really helped, so thank you.
Ditto, I have spent my entire life trying to have straight hair and have also just found out how I should be styling my 2A, 2B hair. It is short now but I am letting it grow out and wave and curl all it wants to do! Short styles never worked because I do not have straight hair. So happy information is now out by these talented women on how to take care of our hair.
try going to a specialised curly hair salon if you can find some where you live, theyre life changing honestly and treat your hair exactly how it should be treated, from a fellow 2c/3b :)
2C/3A hair is lowkey the most judged hair type ever. on some charts we are this and on others we are that and people don’t understand how loose curls actually work.
It doesn’t help that I’ve only been knowing how to take care of my 2b-3a type hair recently!!! People ask me if I’ve gotten a perm or if I heat curled it. My hair used to look straight and frizzy asf ig that’s how people identified me back then😂 but today is day 5 after my wash day and it’s still going strong!!!!! I never thought I’d get to this point in my life🥺 I would like to thank my silk pillow/head wrap, my hair masks, finger coiling and gel for this work of art :P
보석Nat This is the most relatable comment ever lol. To help you figure out your curl type, you can see how much it shrinks from when you pull on the curl, to when it’s in a normal resting state. I have type 3c hair. When it’s wet, it’s obviously weighed down, so it looks like type 2 hair, but you can still tell that I have curls. If it were to look straight while wet, then it would probably be more like type 2 - 3a hair. I hope this helped and also, best of luck with figuring out your sexuality. I have the same struggle all of the time.
Same! But for now, I'm gonna pretend my hair type is somewhere between super wavy and mild curly.... And my Sexuality is just... Er.... Maybe, asexual? 😅
@@bibillyjay just for reference, asexuality means you don't have sex. It doesn't tell you that you your gender preference or anything, it just tells you that you aren't sexuality attracted to anyone. I am asexual and bisexual so you could be two.
I have 2a and 2b curls. I love the fact that when I dry my hair completely with a diffuser I have the biggest fullest curls. If I let my hair air dry they are just wavy. The curls are very versatile depending on how I style it 😊
Coming from someone who is also a mixture of 2b/2c/3a curls, I completely understand the difficulty with understanding how oddly straight my hair looks when it's wet but as it drys it just looks so much like yours and people often don't get it (and if I'm being honest, neither did I until the last year or so).
Im a mix of 2c,3a and 3b😍 i love my hair especially when i started realizing that curly hair is beautiful and that i don’t need straight hair❤️ People who have curly hair are blessed😍❤️
@@gaganmann6214 let it out, let it all out straight hair matters too. When I was younger I wanted straight hair but I learned to love my curls. Love you beautiful straight hair😊
My curl type ranges between 2B and 3A. I love that it's healthy, glossy and soft, with lots of bounce, especially in the ends! I do want to get better at giving it more volume, though, as it's rather flat, on the top.
girlll I have 3A curls and my hair is damaged and now it looks all frizzy and unhealthy...sooo plz tell me what products you use bc i need it so bad plz and thank you :))
@@raeannacanela303 It depends what your hair is like. Is it dry, oily, thick, thin, etc? Mine is fairly thin, but coarse, and more on the oily side. Definitely not dry! It loves protein and hates too much moisture. I use the new Pantene curl and volume lines, including their curl cream, which I use as a leave in, along with Cake mousse and Herbal Essences gel. Again, though, if you have a different type of hair than I do, it will respond differently.
My hair is 4a/3c...I love that my hair is simultaneously kinky, coily and curly. I can go from a fro to mini twists, cornrows and braids or from a blow out to the silkiest silk press. My styling options are limitless!
AkidNamedBob we grow our hair out so the curls fall a little. But never out. It’s needed, trust me😂😂. Shirley Temple couldn’t of been said enough to me as a child..
I have 3a curls and that whole thing about people thinking you’ve curled your hair with a curling iron is so true!!! I don’t know why people think that but I love when my curls get chunky and then I have to separate them but I’m always experimenting with different creams and I just need help with finding the right product to keep my hair defined and not so weighed down and with little frizz
This actually helped me so much because I’ve always thought that I had straight/ frizzy/wavy hair till about a year ago when I started to actually take care of it, and idk it’s just so much healthier and voluminous. Im honestly very happy with the progress I’ve made and all that jazz.
“I feel like my hair type, 3A, is the most difficult curl type for people to understand” Preach, girl! Preach! My hair is mainly 3A with 2C and 3C on the wrong places (crown and nape, respectively). So most people think my hair is either wavier or curlier than it actually is (depending on my patience on the day for styling it).
My curls are very similar to yours😉😁 as far as I can tell(still in transition). I have 2c/3a curls. My 2 year old daughter has 3b curls. I stopped straightening my hair for her. I want her to grow up loving and embracing her curls.
@@danielaflores that's exactly what I am talking about. My mom also has curly hair. She doesn't hate her hair but there is some type of negativity about it and I don't want my daughter to experience that.😁💗
I'm a 2B, and was obsessed with trying to get my hair curlier (doesn't help my bf has beautiful natural curls), but I'm learning more now how to take care of and love my hair type and give it the proper care it deserved! I love how it can look like I just taken a dip in the sea, with beachy waves, with little to no effort now!
Diffusing helps too, along with seasalt spray. I also love Uncle Funky's Magic Curls before I diffuse on soaking wet hair and Garnier curl refresher in between wash days.
i’ve just revived my curls lmao. i haven’t had them since i was like 9 and i’m 16 now, i’ve been taking way better care of my hair. i’ve gone from 2a to 2c:)
Can you tell me how you do that because I’m pretty sure my hair is dead and I just want to know how I can revive it again 😂 my hair is like a 2a right now and should be a 2c :(
@@meilani3164 If your hair feels dead you may have to cut it a few times and baby your scalp with some special products. There was something in the water where I used to live that was killing my hair. Losing large clumps in the shower and it wasn't really growing either. For a few years I cut my hair really short ( almost shaved) and concentrated on restoring the roots. My sister found a cleansing conditioner by Ren Pure Solutions that I use 6 days a week on my hair and once a week I use a shampoo called Generic Tea Tree oil shampoo. It's made for getting impurities out of the scalp. Once I towel dry my hair, I use a few drops of OGX coconut miracle oil and work it through my hair. It's taken a few years, but my hair is almost completely restored to what it should be.Btw my hair is 2c/3a. I hope this will help. 🤗
6:42 For the people who think she did her curls off camera, As a person with curly hair, they always get straight by the water, its like that for every type of hair. When it dries it gets into your hair type shape.
Not always. My niece has 3c curls and her hair hangs in thick wet spirals even when it's sopping. Same with the youtuber who led me to this video. Still curlier than mine on a good hair day, straight out of the shower.
I have a question. All my life I've had straight, fine hair, but ever since puberty hit, the undeparts of my hair are wavy ((2a maybe?)) but then the rest of it is frizzy. How do I take care of new wavy hair to make sure it's healthy, do I need gel? I need so much help, I'm not used to this. I can barely scrunch my hair when it's wet and it makes a curl kinda thing, idk. I brush it when it's wet, it STAYS straight, so I'm very confused, I really need help...
I was looking up curly hair videos because of my daughter and I came across this one. SO helpful!!! She is only 3, but she has beautiful wavy/curly hair, and I wanna make sure I take good care of it ❤️ I think she’s a 2c/3a mix bc she has some “sidewalk chalk” spirals as well as waves. I’m so jealous of all you curly girls! If you have natural curls, embrace them! I’d give anything to have them!! 😍
Ashley H. Same! My daughter just turned a year old and her hair is staring to come in thicker and longer. Since I have “1” type (pin straight hair) I’m trying to find advice on how to nurture her curls. It’s really hard to find good videos for fine, Caucasian hair type curls.
Tara 907 Yea wavy/curly hair care is new to me! I’m a 2a at best if I really scrunch it up! 😂 But her hair is so beautiful, I wanna make sure to nurture her curls like you said! I’ve been using devacurl shampoo and conditioner on it, and I can tell a major difference in how bouncy and smooth her curls are since I’ve switched over!
Exactly why I'm here as well! My little girl will be 3 in October and get hair is getting so curly! Trying to figure out how to keep it healthy so she doesn't have to repair the damage once she's older.
Aww, this is so sweet, and I just want to say, what a good mom for wanting to take care of your baby’s curls!! 💗 I’m getting a little verklempt because it’s the opposite of my experience. My mom didn’t know what to do with my hair, and I grew up thinking it was frizzy and poofy and annoying (and she always told me to brush it - don’t brush the curls!! Lol). I think it’s amazing that you are seeing her and want to take care of her as she is. And keep watching her hair, because curls can change with age and hormones. Mine did! It’s gotten progressively curlier throughout my life, and honestly I’m constantly surprised with it. I know you’ll be giving her great confidence helping her start early 🥰
I have the same 2C/3A hair type, and I nearly cried with the validation “feels” when you were talking about people not understanding it. I’ve had the SAME comments ~ and I’ve been a licensed Cosmetologist since 1992…. Thank you for helping me not feel alone.
I'm just starting on my curly girl journey, trying to reclaim my curls, and I have been so confused by everything I've found. That was until I found you!! In a few minutes you helped clear it up so much!!
Riri 102 I have the opposite problem where it’s wavy on top and curly underneath but i totally feel you on having way to much range of curl types from 2-3a
Just learned last night that I actually have fine, 2B type hair! Almost 23 years of life and I had absolutely no idea but I'm so excited to explore this new part of myself and learn how to have the best waves possible for my hair type! Your video was extremely helpful and informative, I had no idea there are SO many different and beautiful hair types, thank you!!
My hair is 4c and I love how versatile it is it can be curly, straight , short , or long depending on how I decided to style it that day and my fraviote part about my hair is how big it gets when I fluff it out 😊😇💋👄💖👍
oh im so glad you love your hair!! its such a special part of you and I feel like people so often hate their hair for how curly it is. your hair is absolutely beautiful 💖💖💖
YESSS! THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY U HAVE NO IDEA! I'm so tired of these girls complaining about their hair and always comparing it to mine -_- I don't understand what's wrong with 4c hair? It's so fucking fluffy and soft how can u not love it??
I am a 73 yr old woman with 2c blonde, fine, thin hair. My hair journey has been life long. My first wise choice was to stop straightening the curly hair and embracing it. The second wise choice was moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. The third wise choice was a diffuser on low settings. My latest wise choice is the Denman brush. I have more defined curl, volume, and I can have fresh looking curls for 3 to 4 days with little to no effort. I use a silk pillowcase. Thank you for these videos that really educate us on our God gifted curls.
@@heavenkibra5758 i use shea moisture curl and style milk when my hair is soaking wet and then i brush it in, and then i scrunch tje water out. i dont towel dry or microfiber thingy out i find it better to scrunch a lot until tje water is out
I had ringlets as a child, like Shirley temple all over, and then my hair grew and the weight pulled the curls out to waves. I have really thick hair, 3.5 inches in diameter thick when in a ponytail, and it would tangle easily, so my mother and grandmothers solution , neither of them having my hair type, would be to rip through my hair to get all the knots out. My hair went frizzy and pouffy after that, and stayed that way until I was 17, when I cut my hair to a pixie, and then it grew back wavy, 2b, and I learned about curly and wavy hair styling and it got curlier and curlier until now, 2b-3a hair, it’s still changing and adapting so who knows, I may get back to that Shirley temple ringlet
Same!!! I had ringlets when I was little and now after brushing it every day it is wavy/curly. I'm currently trying the curly girl method to see if I can go back to the way it used to be.
My curl type is 1 lol... I came here to learn more about my daughters hair, who i think might have 2b or 2c curls... Not sure who she got that from! But i wanna help her love her hair while she is still young and doesnt learn to hate it becaue of ugly comments by other people! You have such amazing hair. I love it!
I remember seeing a comment on Instagram from a girl who said if you have to “manipulate” your hair with products and diffusing/scrunching, then your hair isn’t naturally curly. And I was like ummmm 😳 that is not correct ma’am 😂
Believe me, my hair type went from almost straight to wavy to almost straight again(It's in this state rn), during puberty. No amount of product, defusing and scrunching would give me curls or defined waves that will last more than 10 minutes. Not only do they don't understand curly hair, they also don't understand straight hair 😂😂
@@brooklynsbaby4367 I have the opposite problem... Haha. I probably 2b or 2c, depends on the day, amount of product etc. But when I straighten my hair... Does it every last NOPE haha. Its why I rarely straighten it because it doesn't stay and as soon as any moisture hits my hair, bye-bye straight.
@@KatyJanex hahah when my hair was wavy I had the same issue, it was okay for like 2-4 hours(if the weather was ok) and then it would turn into a big puff lol
Me: *wakes up in the morning after washing my hair the night before* OoH my hair is CuRlY!! So PRETTY!!! (I have like 2b/c/3a curls/waves) Also me: *doesn’t brush hair to preserve my curls so I can wear is down* My mom: *approaches from behind with a brush and starts brushing my hair* Me: *internally screaming* My mom: *after finishing brushing my hair (it’s now super frizzy)* AwW your hair is so pretty!!! Me: *decides to just pull my hair back like always* Anyone else relate to this? No? Just me? Ok.
Woah, my mom doesnt do that but she does want me to brush my hair. So we have compromised, after taking a shower at night I brush my hair and put product in it which means in the morning I dont have to brush it I just need to put product in it
I am so glad you showed the model with the tight curl pattern pulling her length. Whenever I flatiron my hair and wear it long and straight, my coworkers ask if that's my hair. They don't understand that natural kinky hair shrinks. I am type 3c/4a.
I've watched so many "how to identify your curly hair type videos," but still had a hard time understanding each type, until now! Thank you for adding the size comparisons for the type 3's, that really helped me understand! I have type 2b/c, and sometimes even 3a spirals sneak in my hair! I love the uniqueness of my hair type, and I've been having fun (though it's been a lot of work) trying out new products and methods to see what works best to promote my wavy/curlyness. :)
This is so helpful. I have 2c/3a curls. It’s hard to explain to people I have curly hair because I use the wrong products that weigh them down, but if u see a baby picture of me when I was young it looks curlier. (Because at the time my dad did my hair)
3c/4A Low Porosity Hair Type. I just love my curls all the way around. My daughters is a 3A/3B Low Porosity. I love the bounce of her floppy curls & the ease of manageability 😍✨
Hmm, I learned I'm a 3b. I always get 'Is that a perrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmm?" Girl, bye, it is not a perm. I'm growing my hair out and it's just curls all over the place. Thank you for helping me to understand my hair!
@@kyliekoss8136 it gets annoying when you're constantly questioned though. There was a girl that would ask me once a week if my hair was real, and acted like it was her duty to try and "expose" me bc apparently a white-passing Latina can't have them lmao. Or the one time a boy yanked on my hair bc he thought it was a wig he could just take off
I have wavy hair and someone at work looked me dead in the eyes and said my hair is straight cuz I’m white....gate keeping is why I used to always straiten my hair and never take care of my hair texture...now I take care of it more and my waves have become more defined
I know this is an old comment, but I can relate so hard. I've had people not believe me when I tell them I don't manually curl my 2c/3a hair because I'm white. I've even had people tell me that I have to have poc in my family tree to be able to have my hair and that I must not be "fully white". Oh how wrong they are, my dna test shows I'm 75% Scottish, 21% Irish, and 4% Swedish lol
I have literally never heard of this, this is so cool! I am also a 3a + 2c combo! What’s really cool is my hair is super wavy then it turns into ringlets halfway through my stands of hair and (usually) in opposite directions from the other side of my head.
Girl I feel that! 👏🏻 My hair has 2b to 3a curls and I used to get told that my hair was straight ALL. THE. TIME. I’ve been accused of using a wand or rollers. I wish my curls were that easy 😂😂
Sounds like mine. Recall once years ago I straightened my hair and someone comment how much easier it must have been to do my hair. Lol nope takes forever to go straight. Too much work.
it was so validating to hear you talk about your 3A curls!! I just came back from getting a bad hair cut from a curly hair salon and I just didn’t know what to think. I’m just starting to take care of my hair texture and I have the exact same ringlets as you on my bangs but the rest of my hair is like 2B/ 2C. I was about to finally convince my self that I just have waves.
I hate the people that say, "only (this race) can only have (this hair type)" like shut up! Anyone can have any hair texture! SOOOO many genes play into hair texture. @@thesecretnewbie8872 I'm indigenous, and I have straight hair - except for a tiny area that has coils. I'm guessing my hair only had one mutation to go from Original Out of Africa coils to straight, so something happened and voila! Coils!
Adalwolfa actually. Black people can have any type of hair type 1-type 2. And yes anyone can have a 4c type texture but that doesn’t make your curl pattern is 4c. It just means ur texture is 4c. You can have a 4c like texture and have wavy hair. It just depends.

This was one of the first well explained curl typing videos in my opinion. Yes, every curl type is absolutely gorgeous but its nice to have a general understanding of your own to determine how to better care and which products work best. Thank you so much. Very helpful as I have 2c/3a in the crowd and front area and 4a-bish in the back. The struggle is so real for me.
My hair is the same type as yours and I have been doubting my curls because some people told me it was wavy. It used to be 3b, but it changed and now I'm relearning how to style it. Thank u very much, the next time someone doubts my understanding of my own hair, I'm sending this video for them
Yep. My hair is a mix of 2C, 3A, and 3B. Right now it's all heat damaged/split/frayed after years of heat straightening. I spent my entire childhood being told I was "lazy" and "didn't take care of" my hair because it was always frizzy and the curls like to invent new directions to curl in. (And humid days... UGH.) I started heat straightening it to stop people from basically accusing me of leaving it un-brushed for a month. It was self-defense and then as an adult, survival because of workplace attitudes. I've only just recently begun to try and work with the curl instead of fighting the curl. This is the only video I've come across that shows photographs of the curl types in addition to the chart. Thank you for that! The chart FINALLY makes sense now!
SOML! As a child I was told that my hair was "wavy" because when my hair is wet its weighed down too and when it dries people are always surprised that my hair curls & rises as it dries lol. Thank you for sharing!
@@danaalmalik2871 I condition my hair every night with aussie or suave, but i usually let my curls hang loose everyday, I brush the frizzyness with a toothbrush I sprayed with hairspray. I also use mousses and scrunch my hair, plus texture creams make the friz go down too and make the curls more defined. Hope this helped, I'm 13 this is the best I have lmao :)
Omg! Finally know my type. Its 3A :) I too have straight hair when wet and curly when dry. Thank you for solving the mystery!
It's still early in my curly hair journey, (I've also got a mixture of 2C-3A waves/curls). But after painting my hair so much, I've decided to start all over. I recently got my first diffuser and I can't wait to see where I go from here! ☺
Omg. I used to always straighten my hair when I was younger & never knew what products to use so my hair was more wavy. My hair is now mostly 3a with some 2c waves underneath & people literally ask me if I got a perm. My own MOM accuses me of using a curling wand & thinks that the diffuser is what makes my hair curl. 😭 I’m glad someone understands. 💕
I just found this video while going through my own journey. I have 3a curls like you and I can totally understand how it is frustrating and confusing at times. Your curls look amazing and thank you for sharing with us! - Also, my favorite part of my curls is that I can shape them a lot. :)
People are so mean about my 2c to 3a curls. I just love that I have them period. Half my hair fell out from a health issue and when it grew back in started to come in curly. I’m so thankful to have hair but even more thankful that I get to have curls.
I thought my hair wasn’t curly bc of the gatekeepers. I just learned that i had 2c-3a hair like a year ago im so pissed if you gatekeep curly hair you are terrible you should be teaching people how to take care of their hair
Literally same here! So many people told me I had straight hair growing up, so I just brushed it like normal and constantly had a poofy, frizzy mess that was flat at the top. Started looking more into it last year and yep -- 2c-3a gang
Yep! I still see that a lot online, some people saying that only 4 types are truly curly and everything else is wavy. And if you dont agree they call you racist.
@@lalaaslurp858 I think the point is that many ppl think there are either tight curls or pin straight hair and somehow ignore existence of waves (2a-c) and loose curls (3a and 2c/3a mix). Both waves and loose curls need some styling help to show their potential and therefore are not considered "truly curly".
I finally know that my hair is 3a and my moms is 3b. We can finally look for products that work for us properly! Thank you! All these charts and stuff are so unhelpful but your descriptions were perfect 😘
I felt your rant in my soul! You are now officially the first beauty TH-camr I’ve subscribed to. You’re right that those charts are mostly worthless. Thank you for this video! My hair is mostly 3a around the hairline with ringlets and 2c at my crowns (yes, I have two of them). Then there are a few 3b curls mixed in just for fun and confusion. I started learning about my hair as a teen, but here I am 25 years later and still learning. I have just recently been able to say I love my hair - I was always so frizzy but with good care and good product, I like being unique now.
It is crazy. People thinks like someone is white or beige they can't have natural curly hair and their roots are too good to be true. The same with native/indiana/taíno type of people, like they're dark, is impossibles for them to have hair type between 1a-2a.
You're so honest and kind... Lol with the fake curls subject, i'm between 2b-3a and understand u completly with this comments (my hair wet is straight too, so 🙄😅). Keep going as you're, beautiful girl!!
Super late, but just started my curly hair journey, in April of this year. My hair is 2C, and 3A. I love going through the process of taking care of my hair, and seeing my curls flourish! It can be tiring, but it’s rewarding!
FINALLY!! I've been struggling to find my vurl type, now I understand its 2c & 3a, with some 3b at the top! Knowing that hairs can have a mix of hair types puts my mind at ease;)
Be sure to share this info with all your wavy/curly friends! 💖
Joy Before Her Hey I am a new subscriber ☺️ I have the same type of hair as you but I get a lot of frizz in the back of my head like the noticeable parts what can I do to get them more defined and less frizzy?
Yanitza Ayala I get the same thing. You just have to apply a little more product to the back and apply it in sections so the whole part is saturated
My hair is also a 3A curl and I thought that I was the only one that with wet hair my hair is straight thanks for saying it
I have from what your telling me a mix between 3a and 3b what's the best products for this?
Hey thanks for this video I understand now. My hair is all over the place the top of my hair since it’s more natural it’s like a 3 but it gets really dry and frizzy middle of my hair is a 2b/c dry and frizzy and the bottom is like 1/2a because I bleached it many times. I wish my hair was more curly and not be all over the place lol.
when i go to the pool, people are like “why is your hair straight? i thought you had curly hair? are you lying” like no when my hair is wet it’s straight and when it dries, it’s curly

Yea, when she asked us to tell her what our favorite curl type is ... I was thinking, "YOURS!!!" Haha!

Same girl 😣
I really liked that she included photos for all curl types. Most people just show the squiggly line diagrams, which don't really show much of anything. Seeing photo examples of each type was extremely helpful. I knew that my hair was *somewhere* between 2b and 3b. Now I know that it is 2c at the top and 3a at the bottom. I was only able to narrow it down after seeing the explicit examples in this video!
Yesssssss
That might be never ending 😅 lol. You didn’t see a picture that represented your curls the most? If not, it could just be that your hair is in between two types which is normal

I have 2c/3a curls too! My hair always looks straight when it’s wet and transforms as it dries. I totally get it girl! Thanks for this video, it really helped me🙏 I am finally learning how to truly take care of and style my curls!
@a i think that’s why they said 2c/3a,,
SAME! I sometimes don't even know what my hair type actually is 😭
Really? Mine is a little curlier when wet than it is dry
@foreverdreamwithinadream6871 Dose it just get curler when dries or do u do anything to it/ sorry if it’s a dumb question😭
i remember i was in my business class and the girl i sat next to was like “elanorrr, your hair is curly, who curled it for you?” i explained to her that my hair is naturally curly and if i were to curl it, it would look a lot nicer than this, she then replied “ohhh, i don’t believe you, but it still looks nice :)”
elanor smh
I have been accused multiple times for "lying" about my hair as well.
feelsbadman.jpg
why people in America thinks that curly hair is fake, it's so dumb
Yea some of us are I think we are all a bit ignorant in one way or another tho🤷🏽♀️
Does anybody else have a curl type that changes according to the length of their hair?
Yepp. When my hair is short my hair gets to almost a 3b and when its longer its more of a 2c
That’s all hair
Yessssss!!
Yeah, my hair was barely wavy before I cut it and now it’s like a 2c
That's just what my hair does haha. I swear it has a mind of its own.
try going to a specialised curly hair salon if you can find some where you live, theyre life changing honestly and treat your hair exactly how it should be treated, from a fellow 2c/3b :)

This is me somewhere between 2C/3A
It doesn’t help that I’ve only been knowing how to take care of my 2b-3a type hair recently!!! People ask me if I’ve gotten a perm or if I heat curled it.

@@raeannacanela303 It depends what your hair is like. Is it dry, oily, thick, thin, etc? Mine is fairly thin, but coarse, and more on the oily side. Definitely not dry! “I feel like my hair type, 3A, is the most difficult curl type for people to understand”
Preach, girl! Preach!
My hair is mainly 3A with 2C and 3C on the wrong places (crown and nape, respectively). So most people think my hair is either wavier or curlier than it actually is (depending on my patience on the day for styling it).
I feel ya. I call my hair 3A but it'll be anywhere from 2B to 3B. Drives me nuts

My hair is literally never straight and it can be annoying sometimes
My curls get weighed down by water, but it's very obvious my hair is curly. It doesn't ever look straight.
My hair is pretty wavy when it’s wet, but I brush it, so it dries almost completely straight. The back section is turning wavy for some reason.

Mine did!

‘Some people have every single type on their hair’ 😂😂😂 quite relatabile
I have 4a, 3c, 3b and 2c that’s what happens when you’re a mixed kid
me too hahahah
same
Chloe Ballard yup
right
for real
Hmm, I learned I'm a 3b. I always get 'Is that a perrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmm?" Girl, bye, it is not a perm. I'm growing my hair out and it's just curls all over the place. Thank you for helping me to understand my hair!
Ugh that's so annoying. And when you have long type 4 hair and people ask if your hair is real or if you're wearing a wig.
When people don’t think it’s real that’s the greatest compliment
@@kyliekoss8136 it gets annoying when you're constantly questioned though. There was a girl that would ask me once a week if my hair was real, and acted like it was her duty to try and "expose" me bc apparently a white-passing Latina can't have them lmao. Or the one time a boy yanked on my hair bc he thought it was a wig he could just take off
Yes girl saaame! And I got people saying that to me too ughh
@@Sideshowbrookethey are ignorant af and I'm not surprised, considering who they are.

OMG SAMEE
it was so validating to hear you talk about your 3A curls!!
Mine is 2a,2b,2c,3a really just matters if my hair is working with me that day
Lol
same im also recovering from heat damage though so IDK
Lmao same.
yeahhhh me too. it's like a surprise every time it dries
Same!
It’s not just 3A curls, us wavies get accused of the same thing and get told we just need to brush out hair
The curly hair community gate keepers need to go on a permanent vacation.
One time I was talking about my weird curl pattern and some person said I just had straight hair like- not even close- (I’m mostly 2b and 2c)
This.
I hate the people that say, "only (this race) can only have (this hair type)" like shut up! Anyone can have any hair texture! SOOOO many genes play into hair texture. I am a white/Filipino girl (I look straight up white tho) and so many say that my hair isn't real because white people can't have 3c curly hair >:(
@@thesecretnewbie8872 I'm indigenous, and I have straight hair - except for a tiny area that has coils.
It just depends.
omg I have 2c - 3a curls as well and I ALWAYS get the "are they real?" comment
Leyna Wood Me too!!
It’s usually put in a way that I find very flattering though, so I’m happy 🙃
Im 2b,2c, and 3a i literally cannot with my hair its so tangly 😣
Leyna Wood what products do you use
@@alondra3323 I use the Shea moisture low porosity line, love it
me too 😭 and they never believe me like girl you can’t even curl your hair like this
I really liked that you included photos for all curl types. Most people just show the squiggly line diagrams, which don't really show much of anything. Seeing photo examples of each type was extremely helpful. I knew that my hair was *somewhere* between 2b and 3b. Now I know that it is 2c at the crown and 3a everywhere else. I was only able to narrow it down after seeing the explicit examples in this video! Thank you! And yes, a video on porosity would be awesome!
Princess Pea Yay!! So glad 🙌🏼💖
I’ve recently started embracing my curls. I never used product in them I would just wash them dry then put it up. I never truly knew what my curl type was and now I do! I’m a mix of 3a and 3b with a little bit of 2c in there!!
The root of my hair is straight but the bottom is like 2b/2c
My roots are 2b but my ends are 3a/3b

seriously this is the most beautiful-healthiest hair i’ve ever seen, IM IN LOVE.
I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE WITH MY HAIR! i have 3a curls and it’s wavy/straight at the bottom and when mine is wet it’s bone straight
My hair is the same type as yours and I have been doubting my curls because some people told me it was wavy. It used to be 3b, but it changed and now I'm relearning how to style it. Thank u very much, the next time someone doubts my understanding of my own hair, I'm sending this video for them
Your hair is looking gorgeous! I’m obsessed with the colour
Rafael Thank you!💕
I love this new color on you, please give us color name/brand info. Beautiful💖
4a I just started my natural hair journey and I love how curly my curls are☺️
How do u get your hair so curly. I have 4b
God only gave curls to those who can handle it 👏 👏 👏
Bruhh Brahh it was in my genes. I can’t handle it.
YEESS!👑
God clearly overestimated me then lol
I have a mental breakdown everytime I wash my hair but yes I'm definitely handling it 😬
This made my day
UGH.)
I started heat straightening it to stop people from basically accusing me of leaving it un-brushed for a month.
I have a mixture of 2b, 2c, and 3a curls so love that for me !!! 😍

OMG I’m exactly the same as you!! What products do you use?i need help plz
@@danaalmalik2871 I condition my hair every night with aussie or suave, but i usually let my curls hang loose everyday, I brush the frizzyness with a toothbrush I sprayed with hairspray. Sounds dumb but it pushes the friz down but it doesnt make my hair crunchy or wet looking on top. I also use mousses and scrunch my hair, plus texture creams make the friz go down too and make the curls more defined. Hope this helped, I'm 13 this is the best I have lmao :)
Ava Bean thank you so much
Ava Bean EVERY NIGHT?
Ava Bean oh no baby, suave have sulfate in it, if you keep conditioning every night your hair will have no natural oils to to
Omg! Finally know my type. Its 3A :) I too have straight hair when wet and curly when dry. It used to absolutely perplex my hairdressers and I had a lot of wacky cuts before I found a curly guy who does dry cuts and he still gets a little wowed at how much my hair springs up with every inch taken off.
Kandy Valdovinos Omg, your mom too? 😂 the struggle we have to go through! Lol
Joy Before Her Girl, yes! I’ve had to air dry my hair when I’ve gone back to see her so she could see it still curls the same just with less volume. 😂
I have 3A and 3B but I’m recovering from heat damage :(
I'm transitioning too. My hair is dry, frizzy and overall, I've just lost some of my curls.
I have that hair but I’ve never straightened it😂 i still don’t know what to do with it
I'm transitioning too.
I so regret doing keratin at eight fucking years old I really hope my hair recovers from that
RMB keratin messed your hair up?? It’s not like a perm lmao, it’s basically a deep condition, at least that’s what ive been told by my hair dresser💀💀
I have a jungle of curls and waves on my head....send help and cream 😂
Natalie Clark 😂

Mine too.. And its noottt pretty☹️😟
I just found this video while going through my own journey. I have 3a curls like you and I can totally understand how it is frustrating and confusing at times. God bless you and your family. ❤️🙏
i relate to every 3A scenario you had me DYING 💀💀💀 they don’t UNDERSTAND my hair type
so true! im always like yeah its natural... they are like NOOO YOU definitely CURL IT HOW COME ITS STRAIGHT IN THE SHOWER?
What's annoying is when having 3A I get 2C and sometimes 3B going on at the same time. My hair has NO idea what it wants to be.

Very informative my natural curl type is a 3a BUT because of chemical damage I am a 2a/2b/2c but am starting a curly hair journey ☺️
Good luck on your journey. Started mine last year. Wishing u the best! ✊🤣
Vormele thank you so much 🥰
Same here, I'm ready to get back to my nice long undamaged curls.
Me too people are so judgemental
Literally same here! So many people told me I had straight hair growing up, so I just brushed it like normal and constantly had a poofy, frizzy mess that was flat at the top. Started looking more into it last year and yep -- 2c-3a gang
Yep! I still see that a lot online, some people saying that only 4 types are truly curly and everything else is wavy. And if you dont agree they call you racist.
A mix of 2a & 3a hair is curly what isn't curly is 2a - 2c hair
@@lalaaslurp858 I think the point is that many ppl think there are either tight curls or pin straight hair and somehow ignore existence of waves (2a-c) and loose curls (3a and 2c/3a mix). Both waves and loose curls need some styling help to show their potential and therefore are not considered "truly curly".
I finally know that my hair is 3a and my moms is 3b. We can finally look for products that work for us properly! Thank you! All these charts and stuff are so unhelpful but your descriptions were perfect 😘
yes talk about porosity, density, etc. very informative thank you. there is 4f hair.
