Brad, you're a week late I have already destroyed my hair and my sister's. Now my house has 2 Dora the explorers. Update: The hair has grown great (thankfully) I will never cut anyone's hair anytime soon.
Brad really said “I know all these idiots are about to be cutting their own hair during this quarantine so I’m gonna teach them how to not make themselves look like trash”
Thank you so much. I'm a truck driver who found this video quite helpful for my wife. She gets nauseous really easily so she hasn't had a hair cut for quite some time. I tried your methods from this video on my wife and she loves the cut. Thank you so much bud.
Get your wife to see a functional medicine doctor. If she's not pregnant but if she is there might also be something to work on. So nice of you to take care of her this way and think about her needs
@@Nihal-wx3th so the cut will look the same (minus some precision) but the REAL damage you're doing is to your ends. all your ends will have blunt trauma and they will ALL split eventually if you do this. trust me, I've done it so many times and always wondered why all of my hair had bad split ends. just order shears or go buy them. even the cheap ones will work, they just can't be normal scissors. :)
"what a hair stylist is gonna do is really mold that haircut to your face shape and to your lifestyle and to just who you are." literally no hair stylist i've ever been to!
Same: Ok, I have been to two different salons in the last two months, and they both didnt do what I wanted. I havent been to a salon in 4 years because of this exact same issue. I always cut and color my own hair at home without any issue. I didnt want ANY blonde, I wanted an inch cut off with my bangs trimmed with a darker base and a few lighter brown highlights. I walked out without my roots touched at the first salon and a brassy copper bayalage. I gave my hair a rest for two weeks and went to a different salon to try again. I walked out with an orange base with blonde highlights throughout all of my hair. I waited another 2 weeks and did my own hair at home and guess what, it's what I asked for to begin with now. No stylist has ever been able to keep it simple with me, it's like they get "blonde happy". I wont go back to a salon ever again. My hair was so healthy before and now its dry and damaged.:(
@@readwithchasity3697 Sorry you had to go through that, but it really is a mess out there sometimes and the pricing doesn't help either. I do cut and color my own hair as well. I'm somewhat glad no hairdresser wants to touch my hair tbh because I always worry they'd mess it up somehow
When I go in with curly hair the first thing they do is straighten it and then cut it to suit straight.. as if I can spend two hours straightening every day😭
Brad, if you see this, for the love of your fans PLEASE, make these but with you wearing the wigs while you’re cutting it, would make it so much easier to follow if you were actually doing what we’re trying to do in your instruction - I’m not gonna detach my head and stand next to it while cutting my hair! 💛
Brad honey, I could’ve used this yesterday when I was dramatically giving myself bangs and dying my hair turquoise at 3am Edit: TH-cam had the nerve to not notify me of all these comments omg, y’all are really concerned lmao. Results were actually pretty good!!
well I'm glad that at 4 in the morning I only decided to trim my hair and it was very easily fixed instead of cutting it up to my shoulders because it's literally touching the top of the crack of my ass
I just wanted to say that I’m not in the best financially stable time and affording going to the salon is pretty hard. So glad I’ve found this video, I gave myself an awesome haircut and I just love it! 💜
This is like the equivalent to a mom saying “I’d rather you not drink but if you do, I’d rather you do it in the house and be safe” 😂😂 Edit: Holy crap, thanks for all the likes!!!
Brad I’ve used this tutorial 4 times to cut my hair (from big chops to small trims) and it has been wonderful every time! You can’t even tell that I didn’t go to a salon. I’m going to keep doing it on my own from now on! Thank you!
This was my first time cutting my own hair, and I did by myself. It looks home done but I don't really care, it was so long it kept getting wrapped around my arms
I cut my hair , the way you said, I have fine hair. I'll also try to do that layer . It's ok, but I want to try to layer again. It is just too wavy and thin. But it looks better than it did. Thanks so much, for sharing. My daughter and I enjoy your tutorial you are very funny.
I have been using this method for a year myself and my hair turns out perfect every time! Yesterday I cut my hair 3.5 inches and it ended up being a bit over my shoulders. I also bleached the underside of my hair and dyed it bright pink using everything I've learned from Brad as well!!
Can I just ask how can you see if the back is in line with the front I’ve put the 4 sections in as shown but I don’t know how far down to pull the ones at the back because I can’t see if they’re level with the front of you know what I mean? X
@@CassTheReaper Sure but keep in mind as most of us are very slow when cutting own hair, as you progress the hair is drier and drier so it contracts and may end up uneven with wetly cut pieces.
Brad, I'm a 48-year-old dad, and after using your "Men's Edition" version of this video to cut my own hair with clippers and scissors (it came out pretty good with some small blending issues in the back), I used this tutorial to cut my 11-year-old daughter's hair, and it came out great! She's totally thrilled, and my wife was impressed. Thanks for the really clear explanations and tips. I watched several videos in preparation, and yours seemed like the easiest to follow and the least likely to mess up in a horrible I'll-never-live-this-down sort of way. One warning for other viewers -- at 11:50, he's not kidding when he says "be careful with your hands" when doing the point cuts. I was apparently holding the hair with my pinky sticking out like an English tea drinker, and I sliced my finger pretty good with my new, very sharp scissors. So watch out for that!
He DOES show how to bring sections to front if you dont have any help , just DONT PULL OR HAVE TENSION. LEAVE LOOSE WHILE PULLING TO FRONT SO GET THE SAME EFFECT AS LEFT STEAIGHT DOWN IN BACK..
I've just had to do this to my dh. We had to buy clippers because he likes his clipped and he goes in every 6 weeks to get it done. He likes a 6 on top and a 2 on the back and sides. It's not bad but could be better. The sides were fluffier than he liked but like I said it doesn't look bad and he said he could live with it until next time. I would like to know how you blend it when your clipping with 2 different sizes. He told me he's noticed his stylist uses a comb to comb it out and then clips the ends while there still in the comb. That did seem to help blend it but I'd like to know if there's a better way.
sab oh well my boyfriend will not go to the hairdresser. I will make appointments for him and he will not go without me. So I want to try and do it at home so he will follow through.
I do my hubby and all my kids hair and even mine. We don't go anywhere and the few times we have it never turns out good. I have a video of cutting my sons long hair to short but a hair cutting video on hubby sounds like a good idea! And one of when I do mine! 😊
I had FOURTEEN SECTIONS. You can do this with very thick hair, but you must prep your hair well, use the appropriate tools, and go slow! I have extremely thick 2C hair, and this tutorial happened to work for the shape and style of my hair, which I wear simply layered and parted down the middle. I followed the instructions to a tee, including straightening first, and I was meticulous, using multiple mirrors at varying angles to ensure the rubber bands were evenly placed across all sections. Because I have so much hair, it took me over 3 hours to take off six inches. Once washed and styled, my waves and curls were beautifully enhanced and the length rested just at my shoulders; it gained a ton of body and shape. Thank you for this tutorial I’m using for the first time in 2023, Brad! I am so over having so much hair, and with how fast and thick it grows, I can’t always afford the prices I’m charged for having so much hair in the first place. This really helps a ton.
I appreciate your comment! I also have super thick hair and first time I tried to follow a tutorial on youtube it just didn't work for such thick hair. Nice to know this one did work for someone in a similar situation, by just increasing the number of sections by a lot. I was thinking 8 but seeing your comment I'll do more. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your experience and that additional information on how to use this technique on thick hair. I've had some doubts about doing this all on my own but now I might dare it 😊
Found this tutorial a while back and I’ve been following it ever since. I’m not exactly in a position to afford a salon cut, and the cheap walk in salons always shred my hair, so I am super thank for this video. No, it won’t replace a salon quality cut, but it allows me to keep my hair looking more or less acceptable even when I can’t afford the salon at the time. So big thanks for this tutorial 🙂
Hey Brad! I would like to thank you for this tutorial! I used it to my mom who suffers from severe depression the last 2 years. Prior to these 2 years she was so good at taking care of her skin and hair, she used hair masks, kept her hair natural and healthy, but now they where falling and thinning due to stress, which made her more miserable. In addition, due to depression she doesn't feel like going out, and going to the hairdresser's is a true challenge for her... I would like to thank you again, because I followed your instructions and gave her a proper, shorter and more manageable haircut, but most importantly, she feels beautiful again, and that's making her feel better! Thank you from heart for this gift!
Saw a billboard of this man in NY and couldn’t be happier to know that he taught me about my hair and what to do. I do my hair at home as far as bleaching and coloring it because its WAY to expensive for me. I use his tips and tricks and never messed it up. Thank you Brad you’re a genuine life saver
I hadn't gone to a stylist in a couple years because of apathy and depression. Recently I got sick of the split and kinked ends and having really long, ratty hair that made me feel bad, so I was finally going to see a stylist again after finishing moving but then coronavirus stuff hit! I've been really bummed out that I probably won't be able to get my hair fixed for months. I rolled the YOLO dice tonight and cut about a foot of my hair off using your video as a guide and it turned out SO well and I am SO HAPPY with my hair and how I look now! I was able to give myself pretty much exactly the hair style I used to have before I let myself go and I feel so good about myself now. Thank you so much for making this video! You've really helped me a lot.
this made me so happy for you! definitely feel you, i've also let myself go due to depression and anxiety and i wanna feel like myself again! so happy to hear that it turned out well for you. i wish you the best of luck on the rest of your journey and sending lots of love and positivity your way! :)
I want to thank you. This year has been rough financially so I've got back on spending. One of the things i cut was haircuts. Ive been cutting my own hair for a year successfully with the help of this video! Thank you!!!
oh yes, i just tried this, it looked so much easier with ms mannequin than on my own head. i also messed up a tiny lil but. So Brad please, put the wig on and film it again
I cut my daughter's hair today 😳 (she's 7 with wavy/curly hair). Turned out better than I thought. Cut it dry, do not pull taut, and cut with the shears at an angle. Do not cut straight across (horizontally). I blended together the cuts with some clippers but could have gone without. Not a professional and last time I cut hair at all was giving/ trimming my bangs in high school. 😰
Curly/wavy is so particular in how you later and shape it I would say you just can't. If you have curly/wavy hair you can wet your hair and comb it straight and probably do the length the same way as this, but I would not touch your layers or shape at home.
I have reall thin fine hair and it pains me to just go to a salon and have the stylist takes 5 mins to trim my hair and pay the expensive fee. So this is so helpful! You're saving me money. Thank you
I could not agree more with you guys, I have got super thin hair, and whenever I go to the salon and they go to comb my hair out they always give me pity looks when the hair starts filling up the comb because I shed like a dog in the summer, and then they always try to sell me all these products that will make it look thicker, the entire time not really caring how humiliating it is for me to be sitting in the chair will they want to talk to me for 20 minutes about how thin my hair is and how much of an improvement all of their products can make. Even after explaining to them that I cannot afford all of the products especially since the haircut itself is so expensive, I then have to either tip them for the humiliating overpriced experience, or feel like an absolute jerk for not buying a product or tipping them so I don't want to go back to the salon again later on. One of the easiest haircuts that I have started doing since I first saw his video on them was a butterfly that has been a godsend I have not been to the salon to pay for a haircut for me or my girls, and I get so many compliments on it which is a drastic change from the previous humiliation. The way that the layers of that haircut play with the density and texture, it makes a really big difference. And there are so many videos on how to make texture sprays at home as well, I have found that the flaxseed one is amazing, especially if you add a little bit of Rosemary essential and scrunch your hair a little bit while it's wet, my daughter likes the sea salt one and there's so many other recipes that are super easy and give you that added volume and they have benefits that extend Way beyond that day. I hope you're seeing this or it helps somebody else, because it saved me from rocking wigs or wearing a hair scarf and just buzzing it off because I was so tired of feeling that embarrassment.
I'm sorry for putting multiple comments on this video, but I have seen several videos that you have said multiple times to cut above the elastic to avoid the mess, but in this video you're cutting below, and I'm not really sure how to get that straight down ponytail that's not pulled in a different angle on yourself, so what I ended up doing was taking some duct tape and taping lacombe to the towel rack in the towel rack and then standing up so it would pull it down straight and then tying it, it wasn't perfect and it took a couple attempts but it did work.
me cutting it short: okay but i want layers brad: okay here’s how to do layers me after cutting layers: okay but i want front layers brad: oh hey here’s how to do front layers HES AN ANGEL
Brad is the ultimate "If you kids are gonna drink anyways I'd rather you do it in the house" mom. I totally hatcheted my hair at the beginning of quarantine, but your hair tie method made it something closer to a haircut in less than five minutes. We don't deserve you Brad
This video is 2 years old but I'm happy I found your tutorial. I've damaged hair (home bleaching etc) and my ends were super thin. I'm to ashamed to go a salon so I had to do a much needed cut myself. Thanks to your easy diy my ends are now fuller and it feels healty-ish again. I did this successfully in one session! Thank you Brad ❤
Small part but THANK YOU for saying “part your hair normally” cause every single time I get my hair cut professionally, they part it in the middle. And I tell them every time that I part my hair to the side and they always say “well it won’t be even” but when they’re done, I part it back on the side and guess what.. it ain’t even!! That’s why I cut my own hair now
i always cut it so its even on both sides and then wherever they part it i make sure its still even cuz some people👀 part it weird or how their hair doesnt want to go
Yup! I’ve been cutting my own hair for years thanks to this same issue. I felt like every-time I went in for a hair cut they would take so much hair off, way more than I asked and in the end it wasn’t even, plus I’d had to pay for it! I said enough, if anyone’s gonna fuck up my hair then I’ll do it for free, if it ends up looking like trash I won’t have anyone else to blame but myself. At least I’m not a professional hair stylist so I have an excuse to fuck up.
All jokes aside thank you for doing this for people with disabilities (myself) who can't go to the hairdressers, and for myself with textured hair living in a tiny white town with no hairdressers as of yet who can cut my hair for what it is
Everybody: Cutting their own hair because of quarantine effect Me: HELL NAH Brad: Uploads video on how to not f*ck up your hair during quarantine Me: 👀 ✂️
I can't believe I went through with cutting my hair! I was nervous but I set my hair up exactly as you said and it worked out great! I'm so happy, thank you so much! I found that for me the key was point cutting and getting someone to help me tie the back sections of my hair.
This video: *Exists* Every women in quarantine: well I guess I could use a haircut! Brad's video next week: girls fail and ruin their hair while watching my tutorial!
PSA: this technique is NOT foolproof!!! source: me, a fool. i just gave myself a haircut so bad it made children who find scissors look like world-famous hairdressers. brad sweetie i adore you and i want you to know this is not your fault. you gave great advice. some of us were just born to create chaos lmao here are some tips so you don't come out of this looking as bad as i did: - if you have thick hair, PLEASE USE MORE SECTIONS. i have mega thick hair and only doing four sections was a MISTAKE. please trust me on this - let's be honest. none of us know how to point cut. i went in thinking, "how hard can it be?" and i came out of it with the most chunky, jagged, uneven hair that the universe has ever seen. like good god. i have never seen anything worse. i wish i was exaggerating - please don't do this is you're quarantined alone. who's gonna fix it if you mess up as badly as i did? your elderly neighbor pam? she will not. if it hadn't been for my mom coming and fixing it, i would still be looking like a clown - it's just hair! it'll always grow back:-) even if you come out looking like a cheap paintbrush, at least you'll have some funny stories to tell luv u brad thank you for trying to save me from my hubris
@@keirameetze831 I decided it looked like too much work and ended up doing that unicorn ponytail haircut. Looked really bad at first but great after I touched it up.
When I used to see girls have these different hair cuts and styles I used to think it must be so expensive to get that for myself. And often just chopped my hair at the bottom and called it a haircut. But thanks to Sir Brad it feels like I can now finally do stuff to my hair at home and do it well. Thankyou so much! God bless you!
I have tried it and OMG it works! Make sure the sections on the sides are the same length with the ones at the back by moving them gently towards the back and comparing to their level. Otherwise you might end up with an uneven length at the back. The layering trick is so good too! ♥️
I used this to cut my grandmas hair for her. She loves it. Shes been asking me to cut it for weeks but I told her I didnt know how. I was finally able to do it for her. Thanks Brad!!
Thank you so much for this! I had 5-6in of damaged hair from bleaching and dying. I can't afford a stylist currently. I had my husband watch this video with me and he helped me get all that damage off my head. I feel so much lighter! Thank you Brad Mondo!!!!!
Hahaha yes!! I grew up always chopping my hair off, and my aunt is a hairdresser. She just had her 35 year anniversary last year, so she made me learn the basics. Glad to know it stuck even though I was drunk lmao
@@amyaguirre1771 haha that's so lucky 😂 I'm just lucky for countless TH-cam tutorials 😂 I woke up the next day and had to slowly ease my way to the mirror with my eyes closed.. But it was OK 😂 I'd already done the Brad Mondo fringe previously but decided to do some up slices and half the fringe came off 😂 it's a look. Temptation to shave head is real 🤣
Woah man! I thought cutting hair just meant getting rid of the length by cutting straight at the bottom. This tutorial really helped me. I have recently watched quite alot of his videos and I have come to learn quite a lot about hair and cuts and styles I used to always tie my hair in 2 sections and cut straight at the bottom. Won't say loved that but had to do it someway. But I followed this tutorial's tips and woah it made a difference. My hair isn't so thick and heavy at the bottom anymore and it separates at the ends unlike before. It truly feels like my hair has gone through a good change. I guess cutting your own hair becomes the norm once you get the hang of it. Makes you skilled at one more thing. Thanks for the tutorial Sir Brad. And I have also followed your curtain bangs tutorial which is great as well. Just the thing is I cut them a bit short so I have to wait for them to grow but I don't mind that. Thanks :)
🌟STEPS🌟 [Tools] - clips - haircut scissors (other scissors damage your hair and aren’t as accurate) - comb - hair ties (4-6) - brush [Prep] 1. Wash hair 2. Apply heat protectant product 3. Smoothing oil through ends (optional) 4. Blow dry hair 5. Fully straighten your hair (NEEDS TO BE BONE STRAIGHT!) 6. Part your hair into 4 sections (part how you do normally and bring it down to the back. Then for each large section, part it into two slices by finding the apex [top] of your head and taking the comb and going right down behind the ear) 7. Brush your hair, important to not have tangles 8. Figure out where you want your hair to fall 9. Take your elastic and put it on one of the four sections of hair. It should be at the height you want your hair to be cut. Make sure to not move the hair, it’s important to keep it straight and lay it flat. - for the back: lay your hair flat down your back straight down. Keep tension as you put the elastic on! - repeat for the other sections of hair 10. Check if your hair is straight by using your comb as a level [Cutting] 1. Point cut the hair below the elastic (having your scissors pointed up at an angle to cut your hair) you can point cut downwards OR upwards, whichever is more natural for you. Take of small bits at a time. 2. You can point cut to take the bulk out Repeat for all sections: BE CAREFUL TO NOT PULL THE ELASTICS. 3. Let out the elastics for each section and comb them all out 4. If you have uneven points at the front, comb your hair in front of your face, check where you want it to be level and Point cut to make it even. [layers] 1. Bring all your hair to the top, brush it out 2. Use your finger to separate the section into two parts, about halfway up. (The hair you let down is for length security) 3. Put the elastic in the one at the top, when it’s tied tight, let it down. DO NOT MOVE THE ELASTICS. It does not matter where you tie the elastic as you may not be cutting it at the end of the elastic. 4. Take off the high point in the hair by point cutting. Make it feathered and imperfect. One inch of hair off is good enough. Do not cut straight across. Do the same for each section, taking about the same amount for each off. You can also fan out the hair section and point cut like that. 5. Let the hair out and comb it! Don’t try to layer too much! 6. If you want layering in the front, look in the mirror and section about 1.5 inches from the front pieces (for face framing) and put the rest of the hair behind the shoulders out of the way. Point cut down gradually to blend it in. Like little stairs down the hair. 7. You can point cut straight up to thin out the bluntness in the bottom of the hair, don’t overdo it or you’ll have holes on your hair! That’s all :) enjoy your day! (Yes I also wrote these for myself because aha ha... I’m going to attempt to do this) Update: edits mainly correcting typos and for clarification. And yes I did this and it actually turned out really well, I cut off like a foot of my hair myself lol. I’m probably going to cut my hair again soon using this method :) praise brad mondo. Also good luck to everyone else cutting their own hair. Remember, if you screw up it will just grow back, there’s always tricks to hide and fix bad hair moments. (Trust me, I’ve had plenty) Edit: it’s crazy people are still reading this, I’ve cut my hair twice following this guide and cut off a LOT of hair. It’s not perfect because it’s hard to see the back, but usually you can get someone else to help even that out. Otherwise it works really well. Good luck all of you :D
brad: section hair!! cut it dry!! use actual shears!! use a brush/comb!!!! me: watching & listening to this great advice while chopping my soaked, unsectioned, curly hair with office scissors.
I love layering anyways with it without this. If I don’t end up bold! 😂😂 I still have the beginning of what meant to potentially become a unicorn hair colour style lying around at home. (Guess it’s a matter of how bored you get. Just kidding I’m really not bored yet and it doesn’t feel like me anymore I’ve evolved but I’m not wanting to waste the colour...)
I have wavy hair and decided to try it anyway because im pregnant, my hair is heavy, and my hairdresser isnt open for two more months. Literally did it with six sections and regular scissors. Turned out as great as i couldve hoped for! Thank you
Could’ve used this last night when madness set in and I thought to myself “this quarantine could last forever, let’s just cut my hair.” Brad you are ALWAYS NEEDED!
Same! I started by trimming my bangs then decided it would be a great idea to cut the rest of my hair bc nobody but my dad and brother were gonna see it anyway
I've had a sudden crisis I'm finding the hair clippers and I'm gonna shave the sides of my hair, my hairs really short but my fringe is pretty long, this is gonna go well
I have used this video as a guide 3 times now to trim my own hair. Thank you so much! Your tutorial has helped me produce a better hair cut then I've paid for in the past. Thank you.
As a hairstylist, I can confirm, absolutely not. We're already gonna be bombarded with normal people who can stand having an extra 2 inches of hair, we do NOT need to deal with no choppy layers or spotty box dye color.
4:31 Brad: “straighten your hair, bone straight” people with curly hair: not impressed 😑 Couple minutes later Brad: “not for curly haired people” Curly haired people: “oh good”
I have wavy hair, but i didn't listen to you and saturated my hair so it would be straight while doing this tutorial. I simply love the cut! It's 11:45pm and I am going on vacation in the morning! I didn't go super freaky on my hair, but it looks 10X's healthier. Thank you so much!
Skip to 9:00 - that’s when he actually starts working with the hair by sectioning it. Or skip to 10:30 - that’s when he explains how to cut and finally begins cutting at 11:15 Only important things in the first nine minutes are the tools you need and the fact that this technique isn’t for curly hair.
I was tired of spending so much $$$ for so-so haircuts. I bought haircutting shears for the price of one cut and tried this out. The back was tricky and I did a few touch-ups but I'm happier with this haircut than any professional cut I have had in the last few years!
Can you do one for men’s hair also? My husband wants me to cut his hair and I’ve watched a couple videos already but I want your input please ❤️ I would soooo appreciate it if you did 😊
I just used this tutorial for the third time, and I'm still so happy with it! I honestly get better results than I get at the (admittedly cheap) salon. 😁
I hope I can save some of you from doing awful quarentine cuts 🙏🏻

@@readwithchasity3697 Sorry you had to go through that, but it really is a mess out there sometimes and the pricing doesn't help either. I do cut and color my own hair as well. I'm somewhat glad no hairdresser wants to touch my hair tbh because I always worry they'd mess it up somehow
When I go in with curly hair the first thing they do is straighten it and then cut it to suit straight.. as if I can spend two hours straightening every day😭

Will it still work if I do it on wet hair?

So I want to try and do it at home so he will follow through.
sab you place your comb vertically & do exactly what he said to blend it .

YESSS MY LOVE GO ONN
I've had some doubts about doing this all on my own but now I might dare it 😊
14 sections?! Wow, im considering doing 5!

asking for the curly/wavy haired community: could you show us how to do our hair( cut) please
Honestly I think you can use the same technique just don't pull your hair taught, kinda just leave it loose as you tie it
I cut my daughter's hair today 😳 (she's 7 with wavy/curly hair).
You could also straighten it down dry for length as well. Still wouldn't suggest trying to layer or shape it though.
For most curly hair, you don't want to cut it wet because the curls shrink at different rates when dry. It will look uneven.
I have reall thin fine hair and it pains me to just go to a salon and have the stylist takes 5 mins to trim my hair and pay the expensive fee. So this is so helpful! You're saving me money. Thank you
You’re not alone. I have really thin hair too and hate going to the salon. I will try this method now
I could not agree more with you guys, I have got super thin hair, and whenever I go to the salon and they go to comb my hair out they always give me pity looks when the hair starts filling up the comb because I shed like a dog in the summer, and then they always try to sell me all these products that will make it look thicker, the entire time not really caring how humiliating it is for me to be sitting in the chair will they want to talk to me for 20 minutes about how thin my hair is and how much of an improvement all of their products can make.

That’s why I cut my own hair now
Lee Bug that correct what they say its even but after you can personalize it the way you part your hair
i always cut it so its even on both sides and then wherever they part it i make sure its still even cuz some people👀 part it weird or how their hair doesnt want to go
Anahata Akela no if you want the sides have perfect even layers you work from the middle and after you can do a side part ect

Yup! I’ve been cutting my own hair for years thanks to this same issue. I felt like every-time I went in for a hair cut they would take so much hair off, way more than I asked and in the end it wasn’t even, plus I’d had to pay for it! I said enough, if anyone’s gonna fuck up my hair then I’ll do it for free, if it ends up looking like trash I won’t have anyone else to blame but myself. brad sweetie i adore you and i want you to know this is not your fault. you gave great advice. some of us were just born to create chaos lmao
here are some tips so you don't come out of this looking as bad as i did:
- if you have thick hair, PLEASE USE MORE SECTIONS. i have mega thick hair and only doing four sections was a MISTAKE. please trust me on this
- let's be honest. none of us know how to point cut. i went in thinking, "how hard can it be?" and i came out of it with the most chunky, jagged, uneven hair that the universe has ever seen. like good god. i have never seen anything worse. i wish i was exaggerating
- please don't do this is you're quarantined alone. who's gonna fix it if you mess up as badly as i did? your elderly neighbor pam? she will not. if it hadn't been for my mom coming and fixing it, i would still be looking like a clown
- it's just hair! it'll always grow back:-) even if you come out looking like a cheap paintbrush, at least you'll have some funny stories to tell
luv u brad thank you for trying to save me from my hubris

u could’ve looked up a regular hair cutting tutorial then 😂
He is still ignoring the fact that John Cena shaved her head, isn't he?
till everyone stops obsessing over it. then yes. >
John cena
He said he will probably react to it in his Insta stories like two days ago or so.
As much as I'd like to see his reaction there's not much to react to
Guys that was just a stupid joke
why does this comment have 300 likes
calm down pls
Thank you so much for this! I had 5-6in of damaged hair from bleaching and dying. I can't afford a stylist currently. I had my husband watch this video with me and he helped me get all that damage off my head. I feel so much lighter! Thank you Brad Mondo!!!!!
now what we REALLY need is “how to give your boyfriend a fresh fade and not be single after”
my brother is bald now after trying to do a fresh fade 😁😅
Nikoleta Cude SEE!!! brad save the rest of us
Meredith McNeill Yessss lmao
I literally cut my boyfriends hair a few days ago and it looks surprisingly okay I think 😂
Yeah I couldnt get it to stop looking like a bowl cut so he buzzed it off...
brad: a LITERAL hairdresser
also brad: WHAT! I DIDN’T EXPECT IT TO TURN OUT THAT GOOD??
THIS IS EVERYTHING US QUARANTINERS NEEDED! was seriously considering letting my med school husband do a small trim on me.
Well if anyone has steady hands for hair cutting it's someone that knows how to suture.
I did this on my own to cut my hair very short, and omg the results were amazing, this guy saved my life👏🏻👏🏻
My dog was unhelpful. She looked at me like it was straight in back. It wasn't. 🤦🏻♀️
Ha ha...I was thinking how can I use my 2 old dogs with cataracts! 😂🤣
Ouch

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA NOOOO HAHHAHAHAAH
Lol
Lol
I did this whilst drunk with my reflection in a window and it turned out really good 😂 what stroke of luck is this
I did that SAME thing as well, about a month ago. Haha while mine wasnt SUPER good, I have a lot of length, so it didnt look terrible lol
@@amyaguirre1771 haha thank god for that! Goes to show how good Brad's tutorial is if we both managed somehow 😂🤦♂️
OMG. Hahaha yes the temptation to shave my head is very real. I've done it before, so I mean, what's another time right hahaha
**needs point cutting scissors**
Me: alright, let me just pull up my 3rd grade arts and crafts scissors-
Ahahaha that's my plan-
Still better then the scissors I use for chicken XD
I cut my hair already and I did it with some green safety scissors with an inch of blade. LOL at least Brad Mondo was there to help
My mom has a pointy one so 👁️👁️🤘 Ya
Honestly me tho
Woah man!
I thought cutting hair just meant getting rid of the length by cutting straight at the bottom.
This tutorial really helped me. I have recently watched quite alot of his videos and I have come to learn quite a lot about hair and cuts and styles
I used to always tie my hair in 2 sections and cut straight at the bottom.
Thanks :)
When you are having a mental breakdown so you come and listen for Brad Mondo to call you beautiful.
I want a supercut of him complimenting me.
I just want him to do my hair😂 I’ve never had a haircut to go with my face😂
🌟STEPS🌟
[Tools]
- clips
- haircut scissors (other scissors damage your hair and aren’t as accurate)
- comb
- hair ties (4-6)
- brush
[Prep]
1. Wash hair
2. Apply heat protectant product
3. Smoothing oil through ends (optional)
4. Blow dry hair
5. Fully straighten your hair (NEEDS TO BE BONE STRAIGHT!)
6. Part your hair into 4 sections (part how you do normally and bring it down to the back. Then for each large section, part it into two slices by finding the apex [top] of your head and taking the comb and going right down behind the ear)
7. Brush your hair, important to not have tangles
8. Figure out where you want your hair to fall
9. Take your elastic and put it on one of the four sections of hair. It should be at the height you want your hair to be cut. Make sure to not move the hair, it’s important to keep it straight and lay it flat.
- for the back: lay your hair flat down your back straight down. Keep tension as you put the elastic on!
- repeat for the other sections of hair
10. Check if your hair is straight by using your comb as a level
[Cutting]
1. Point cut the hair below the elastic (having your scissors pointed up at an angle to cut your hair) you can point cut downwards OR upwards, whichever is more natural for you. Take of small bits at a time.
2. You can point cut to take the bulk out
Repeat for all sections: BE CAREFUL TO NOT PULL THE ELASTICS.
3. Let out the elastics for each section and comb them all out
4. If you have uneven points at the front, comb your hair in front of your face, check where you want it to be level and Point cut to make it even.
[layers]
1. Bring all your hair to the top, brush it out
2. Use your finger to separate the section into two parts, about halfway up. (The hair you let down is for length security)
I’m going to attempt to do this)
Update: edits mainly correcting typos and for clarification. (Trust me, I’ve had plenty)
Edit: it’s crazy people are still reading this, I’ve cut my hair twice following this guide and cut off a LOT of hair. It’s not perfect because it’s hard to see the back, but usually you can get someone else to help even that out. Otherwise it works really well. Good luck all of you :D
Thank you 🙏🏼
Wow thank youu❤️❤️
THANK YOUUU, also i was the 69th like :)
Thank you!
BLESS
this would be so much easier to do on my own if i didn’t have shoulders, brad.
Yeaah i had that problem 😂
Hahahaha
Or if I could spin my head around 360° like an owl.
😂😂😂😂
yeah that was a bit difficult. and i spent around 5 minutes trying to understand what im doing wrong. then i realised i am not a shoulderles doll
It's currently Nov 2021, I just used this process to cut my mom's hair and she LOVED it. Thank you for the help!
brad: section hair!! cut it dry!! use actual shears!! use a brush/comb!!!!
me: watching & listening to this great advice while chopping my soaked, unsectioned, curly hair with office scissors.
And how did it go?!
lmao
literally me 5 minutes ago..... uh it looks like I put all of my hair in a blender....
Literally me dude
Tell me why I did this 🤣
Everyone's going to come out of quarantine with the same hair cut. This one
The Walton's did it first.
😂
I love layering anyways with it without this.
If I don’t end up bold! 😂😂
I still have the beginning of what meant to potentially become a unicorn hair colour style lying around at home. (Guess it’s a matter of how bored you get. Just kidding I’m really not bored yet and it doesn’t feel like me anymore I’ve evolved but I’m not wanting to waste the colour...)
😂😂
Julie R P 😂😂😂
I can’t wait for Brad Mondo reacts to “girls following a Brad Mondo haircut tutorial” video.
I have wavy hair and decided to try it anyway because im pregnant, my hair is heavy, and my hairdresser isnt open for two more months. Literally did it with six sections and regular scissors. Turned out as great as i couldve hoped for! Thank you
brad: how you feeling today? me:*watching a video teaching me how to cut my own hair* impulsive
Same lol
uh oh😂
Same
I feel attacked 🤣
Right???
Hairdressers gonna be hella busy when this blows over fixing everyone's home haircuts 😂
So True!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I'm already talking with the bestie about a glow up after this 😃 Hair! Nails! Clothes!
damn true...don't do that at home. Wait for epidemic end and go to the fckn expert
@@Kurious_Kiwi That sounds fun!!
@@AfallinAngel yes! It's nice to have something fun to look forwards to, helps to keep the anxiety at bay 😁
Thank you.
CONSPIRACY THEORY: make everyone cut their hair at home so that they absolutly need to go to the hairdresser once everything is over
The Makeupist 🤔🤔 sounds accurate to me
Girl I already need to go lmao
Ahahahaha!!!
As a hairstylist, I can confirm, absolutely not. We're already gonna be bombarded with normal people who can stand having an extra 2 inches of hair, we do NOT need to deal with no choppy layers or spotty box dye color.
Bahhahhahahah so funny
brad knows what we bored/emotional teenage girls in quarantine are considering
I'm just bored with my hair being 2ft long
@@theresachacon1122 lol I cut a few in. off mine it looks ×10 better ☺️
I saw his redheads to blonde video and I did that the same day I had red hair now it’s blonde
Teenage?? Sis I’m 22 and am 👌 that close to doing bangs and dying my shit PINK
Noelle H. Shaving my head rn lol
4:31
Brad: “straighten your hair,bone straight”
people with curly hair: not impressed 😑
Couple minutes later
Brad: “not for curly haired people”
Curly haired people: “oh good”
My same thought 😂 I was about to comment "Curly hair people don't use this technique!"
WELL SHIt
Same😂
I have wavy hair, but i didn't listen to you and saturated my hair so it would be straight while doing this tutorial. I simply love the cut! It's 11:45pm and I am going on vacation in the morning! I didn't go super freaky on my hair, but it looks 10X's healthier. Thank you so much!
Skip to 9:00 - that’s when he actually starts working with the hair by sectioning it. Or skip to 10:30 - that’s when he explains how to cut and finally begins cutting at 11:15
Only important things in the first nine minutes are the tools you need and the fact that this technique isn’t for curly hair.
Thank you so much omg
I can’t thank you enough
Thanks legend
6:00 is where you should start that's important info not to skip
Thank youuuuu 🖤😂

Brad, please.. for the love of god.. show these people how to cut bangs. I can’t watch another chunky, uneven, twist and cut fail video.
jenna marbles did a good one
pls brad, please
Then what would we laugh at
Loepsie does a pretty decent video.
I just cut my bangs using some of Brad's tips in this video and they still applied (aside from sectioning with clips). They came out amazing!! Yay!!
My husband wants me to cut his hair and I’ve watched a couple videos already but I want your input please ❤️ I would soooo appreciate it if you did 😊
Please please please !!!!
yesssssss we need to know how to cut out mans hair
THIIIISSSSS. I NEED THIS. THIS IS WHY I'M HERE. HE IS THREATENING TO SHAVE HIS HEAD THIS IS NOT A GAME.
PLEEEEASE BRAD PLEASE
Bump!!!
¡¡¡He knew I was about to do something stupid during quarantine and he stepped up!!!
ikr?
"Are you scared? Well you shouldn't be, cause you're in good hands with me."
But I'm in /my/ hands, you're just moral and verbal support.
For real 😄
HHHey do you guys like my new haircut let me know❤️ th-cam.com/video/HAAQbr7RzAk/w-d-xo.html
I just used this tutorial for the third time, and I'm still so happy with it! I honestly get better results than I get at the (admittedly cheap) salon. 😁
