Noob's Guide to Car Wraps!

- Wrap vs. Paint, is now a common question every car enthusiast is faced with when choosing a new color. However, is wrapping really for you? Or are you better off with your factory finish? Here in this video, I'll discuss Everything A Beginner Needs to Know About Car Vinyl Wraps!
*Note*: This video DOESN'T TEACH WRAPPING, rather it explains the "Concept of Vinyl Wraps" to someone who literally has no idea what a car wrap is and how it compares to paint.
The Number one mistake I see beginners obsess over is the Finish!
Whether it's Gloss, Satin, Matte, or Metallic, none of that matters if the material and brand isn't reputable! Even more so, if the application wasn't well done, than it'll just peel off anyway!
Just like with buying cars, choosing a wrap color shouldn't be "Love at first sight". Considering how temporary Vinyl Wraps already are and also considering the few thousand you'll be spending on it, you'll definitely be disappointed if you got something that lasted way shorter than you expected!!
So please research material, then source a local shop reputable enough to install it. If you're wrapping your own car for the first time ever, buy some spare material. Expect to redo some pieces and expect your wrap to not be perfect the first time around and peel after just a short year. You'll get better over time and ultimately, the biggest takeaway from this experience is that Wrapping should not be evaluated as an EQUAL to paint because it simply is not!

Man i dunno what is more important sleeping or bladed's video. It’s 3:50 at morning here.
Definetly Bladed.
Sleep is temporary, love for cars is eternal
As a professional vinly wrapper and ppf installer, I can say this is such a good video I might have to start showing my customers this. You hit on pretty much all of the FAQs and key talking points I go over.
Instead of wax for vinyl(especiallymatte and satin), we use 303 to keep up on it.
I tell my customers that the best reason to do a wrap is because you want a something that is a crazy color, pattern, or finish that is hard to paint. Otherwise, just be patient with picking out a car in the color that you actually want.
Does bladed know that everyone starts doing a happy dance in there head when he uploads 🤔
Exept for the nerds that hate corvette
Probably
I have a full on dance party 🎉

I remember i used to wrap my toy cars as a child with matte black vinyl wrap
Sounds like an awesome way to practice finesse in the tiny details.
Also, Wraps used on cars can also be applied to furniture, so I'd suggest getting some cheap chairs of goodwill or just some old furniture you don't like the appearance in your place, and wrap it for practice , before doing your car.
definitely do more noob guides bc i’ve been into cars for 5 years and am still a noob to all this
So my takeaway from this video is... If I was a bit keen on wraps before, now I am all against
Considering it being prone to damaging and peeling off, I'd rather have my car stripped to bare unibody and painted for 3x the price, and then be happy for 30 years without worries instead of 3 years with everyday stress about the wrap condition

FH4 “metallic” sparkly wrap has to be my favorite kind of wrap.
I use it on like 80% of my cars in the game.
I didn't know I needed a noob's guide on wraps until I did. Thanks Bladed.
It's fascinating to me how in the US, and some other places you can actually change your cars colour relatively easily, with very minor hastle... In my country I basically have to get whole new papers, re-register the car and get a full technical just to change colour of my vehicle.
Rare EU cringe

Great takeaway at the end, and it can also be applied to most car changes and mods: the cheapest you go the more time and effort you have to put into it yourself
Wraps are cool and can give a build that extra hint of style, that's why I love em.
Bladed I've been watching heaps of your videos lately and I'm really enjoying them. Thanks for not completely ignoring Holden. Most youtubers either ignore it or abscessed with Utes and its a bit of a pain. Love your vids keep up the great work

saw you heading down highway 124, vette looks and sounds amazing
Ammo nyc and CK wraps make a appearance in a Bladed video! 👌
1- 2 videos in a week? NOICE.
2- Now i get that in Monterrey (Mexico) getting a well designed wrap will be a pain in the ass. Monterrey is well known for having weird weather characteristics, sometimes is just unpredictable, so wrapped cars surely have a hard life.
Ngl I was bout to wrap my car instead of repainting next week. Thanks!!
wish I would have known this a week ago. I did my first wrap job last week. It wasn't bad, but wasn't super good either.
4:29, white/light grey color cars fall into the same cathegory as what you mentioned previously. They will creep out some gaps around the foil.
7:24 that might be from the 2 pieces touching eachother and moving slightly, creating friction.
I'm new-ish but that blue car of yours looks sick
This advice was great I’m gonna wrap my c5 to look the same as yours
For me wrap is only for new cars as to not damage the paint.
Paint is for cars that had their years.
If a wrap job cost more then a paint job then just stick with paint, it'll come out better and won't peal overtime.
Now if you are looking for a color for a project car and just don't like the look of your car while it's still being worked on or just sitting then wrap is a good option while you still think about what color you want.
For me I had bought a 240sx and decided to wrap it pearl white myself till I decide what color I'll be painting it.
another thing could be that if your thinking of painting but not sure how itd look, wrap to try it out and then save up for a complete paint job
thx im learning more stuff from you then school
I know I’m late but I still love your vids
Love your vids😎
Thanks I learned that wraps are supposed to be to experiment with new colors and to have fun with it, not to commit to an entirely new change!
Best channel ever
Thanks for the video. Guess I´ll just get a touchup pen and save the money for a new paintjob
The orange peel is on the vinyl itself if u look at the roll. I’ve sanded panels up to 3000 cross sanding and still had orange peel when vinyl applied .
This convinced me to stick with a paint job
I've been watching for this vid for a while
Please note that everything is based on how well the wrap was installed. Someone who is good at wrapping can use the really cheap stuff and have it last for a very long time. That being said the quality of the vinyl itself is very important especially because most people are not pros.
As a side note I wrapped my car by my self for the first time over a year ago with the cheapest stuff on the market (cheetah wrap vinyl. $400 for a roll of 60ft). So far the wrap has held up for the most part. It certainly has pealing up in some areas but that is because of instal error such as not cleaning the part I’m wrapping. However I want to say that I did a matte purple and I have washed it many times and I love it because it’s easier for me to wash. I just use a wash mit and have never pealed it or damaged it and I don’t have any micro scratches. Note I live in Utah being somewhere else will have different effects. Also my car is outside 100% of the time and has been taken on multiple road trips.
Honestly I did vinyl because my paint was crap and I didn’t want to pay for a paint job and vinyl is way less maintenance
As a former Indiana citizen, I can relate about the cold dry weather
Thx bladed! My wife is thinking about rapping her car but I think you just answered the 1 million dollar question. Care & how long term is it. Thx bro
I'm not in to the mods that u did to ur corvette but idc and I really respect u for going against people's opinions and going for what u like
Thought bout getting my car wrapped and got some pretty good quotes from some shops in kennesaw best one I got was for $2600.
You can wrap over primer and sanded paint if you know what you’re doing. Check out paradox the wrapper. Ive even wrapped my 94 civic all sanded down and its holding up real nice and glossy.
i remember watching this guys channel a few years back. just stumbled on it again sad to see its kinda died off in views tbh
Thanks so much!
Yo just found your channel today and love it. One question tho I just turned 16 and I have saved up some money from stocks and I’m thinking about buying a hellcat but I want some other peoples views
Wow a lot i ddint know and i live in Texas so thats good i watched this
Ah, I can tell you can't wait till the rise of the weebvette 2.0 ( i guess) keep up the amazing content
I so so so sooo want a dark blue satin wrap on my first car
So all and all a regular paint job seem so much better. Sure, the base price for a wrap may be half of a paint job, but so is the lifespan of it (according to my 30 sek googling adventure). Plus you also have the added cost of an extra protective layer (ceramic or PPF). Not to mention all the precautions and much higher risk than just a normal high quality paint job.
Hi Bladed!
This is great news because I live in Maine
Another reason to get a wrap could be if you plan on changing the colour of your car but don’t know how it will grow on you and want a “trial period” of that colour
enjoyed it
Please upload more often! Youre so fucking good!❤️

BTW love your car. Can't wait for the finished product. And please take it to the track. You need to break the image of ricers and show even ricers can love performance.
Yep
Hey, you're close to 500,000 subscribers.
Have you done a noobs guide on body types for cars?
LMAO I NEED TO GO WRAP SOME DETAILS ON MY CAR IN TWO DAYS THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO
Ever since I got my ride, I wanted to paint it in my color (the color I could get it in) and my friends are all like "just wrap it!"
After watching this, I was right and I'm gonna just paint it. I'm a "Northerner" but as it stands, it sits in the 100°+ sun to the burried in snow. And before that, the pain damage from rock chips as well as not being the best at washing it, it is the only way.
The Z however.......
Quick question: what if I want a complex design (think NFS) but don’t want a wrap?
Spend more money for a paint job
Ok but bladed, when’s the guide to Headlights, and Taped headlights (the best ones)
