But it does help some to see the two guys who started this channel with this video again, whom I'd call brothers. The help I've had and journey gone has been so much better because of it. I may not be able to say it's been because of this a life was saved or not. I can say I am nowhere near as hardened to life as I could have been, and have a vicarious experience of a hobby when going to and trying to meet new people once a month was too much out of my budget. I miss my manual everyday of the week and hope I can get back to repairing. Sometimes it's hard to even know what's ailing.

I really love how you're using your older videos on this, that takes anyone on a trip down the memory lane and shows how things hasn't change over the time, MCM will always be MCM! 😁
Ive been watching you when I was 17. Working on my 90s cars ( Civics, acuras, chevrelet s10, mazda protege, etc ) . Still watching today at 30s old! Great content as always! Thanks for the last 13 years! Thanks for giving me ideas yet again with my new blue BRZ 2020!
Just want to say as a first time viewer, this was a really well produced video. The pace of the presentation, the choice of mods, the actual installation, decent tunes for the times you weren't talking - this was just excellent. I might be a bit biased as I actually own a BRZ and have been considering some of the mods you chose to do, but I think the advice was generic enough to fit most any car. Well done lads.
Its amazing how far you've come! It´s great seeing your old footage on the new videos. I remember perfectly the day I found your channel I was in high school, just had gotten my first car and spent the whole night binge watching your videos figuring ways to tune my Renault Clio for cheap. Congratulations obviously your budget has increased but your channel maintains the same essence, and that's because of you guys. You both are awesome.

I just turned 18 last month and never really been into cars like modding or even messing with car parts, but now I want to learn and hopefully mod my own car
I'd say better safe than sorry, because if I'm in a 5k car with 25k worth of mods, and I don't tell the insurance company about it, if I get in an accident they're only gonna cover the 5k car, not the 25k worth of mods.
@@kevink397 lool you'd never get the money back regardless, unless you part it out. Putting more money doesn't always mean its worth more. Especially after and accident
Depending on the insurer, you can negotiate an agreed value that covers the cost of the mods (generally not including consumables like tyres). The greater the agreed value the more your insurance costs though and they might have upper value limits.
@@nathanreimer1296 Pro tip: your insurance doesn't care. Value is a number plugged into an algorithm that determines your premium. "Oh, you say you car is worth 10k more than we think it is? K, I guess you like paying more each month for insurance then lol" is basically the only determining factor. Seriously, unless you make a claim immediately after acquiring a new policy, they don't even look your way twice. Try to get cheap insurance, you'll get basically nothing if you have an accident. Try to plan for "covering ALL my costs!" if you get into an accident? you'll pay out the ass each month. It's up to you to approximate your cars worth. They don't care. They just plug the numbers.

Heard lots of good and bad things about re003's on BRZ's. A tyre centre mechanic here in Australia told me that the cars are just too light for them to warm up and generate the grip you'd expect from a re003 but the Michelins are an all-round favourite and suits this car well.
@@Raph2D I've got RE003s on my 2009 Lancer, work great. I've used them for about 2 years now and still got loads of grip, more than my car will ever need. At first it looks like its poking out but a couple of minutes in into the suspension mod that looks okay probably because it might be steering to the left abit previously
@@JacobHolmes747 Not even close, there are several rules. You can't have the wheels outside the body, and you must not be able to see any part of the wheel when viewed from above, so you can't stance the hell out of it just to get the top of the wheel flush. You can have big flares to allower wider wheels and I don't think they mention a limit on the size of them. But there's a pretty serious limitation on width and offset from only being able to widen the track by 25mm, measured from the centre of the rim, meaning you can only decrease the offset by 12.5mm. You can have wider rims, but with only 12mm lower offset, you'll be hitting the inside of the car before you can get too wide. Can't use spacers. Can't increase the overall diameter of the tire by more than 15mm. Tires can't be more than 30% wider than manufacturer's widest for the car. Can't have the tire scrubbing on anything at any point, while 'fully laden' and going over speed bumps and driveways. I think basically all stock cars would fail that. There's minimum tire widths for rim widths, basically square sidewall is the minimum. Then there's another dozen or more rules for suspension.

I'm only 15 years old but my dad wants me to learn this stuff because he wants me to help modify his e36. I've been in love with cars since I first saw one. Something about them makes them so appealing and cool. I eventually want to have my own Impreza that I can mod. The thought of upgrading cars is another thing I love. It's something I see my dad doing when he's not at the office working from early morning to late at night. He's a very kind guy who introduced me to all the different cars you could think of, He loves cars and probably will for the rest of his life.
I may buy that model myself. Only thing better is PS2s, yet those wear quickly and aren't good in the rain. So overall PS 4 and PS4s a good choice. In the USA PS4 not available in the size they chose OR stock Brz size tires either.
I've been turning wrenches for about 15 years now, still an enjoyable video. Two things come to mind: -It's not absolutely necessary that you mod a car. If you enjoy it as is, that's perfectly ok too! I have spent a lot over the years on mods that I ended up regretting, because I thought they would be "cool" or improve the car somehow. Not always the case, unfortunately. -Wasn't mentioned in the video, but when jacking up the car, always be sure the car can be raised from the point you're choosing. I can easily see a beginner jacking up their car from the oil pan...
For those who are more knowledgeable: If you're going to be adding/changing exterior parts with a body kit, I would assume you would do that first before messing with the suspension right? I would imagine so anyway, otherwise your new parts may end up hitting the road if you didn't check if the height from ground changed

"Modi-feye ye cahhh". Good stuff, guys!
Should've told em to put a little layer of oil on the seal for the new filter before putting it on!
Also "you'll need an oil removal tool" as opposed to an oil filter removal tool. Suppose we can cut them some slack. It's not as if they're mechanics.

What do you mean the old days? They said it like just a few videos ago
@@jobolarius Sure they did say it, but I miss it in this video for some reason. I love how they've progressed with video production, quality, content, but sometimes I miss "old" MCM.

I beg to differ 😁
"Hi Cheryl"
Came to comments looking for this 😅
I prefer a more "don't ask, don't tell" approach when it comes to talking about car mods to my auto insurance :P
@@OvoJeGovno so do we tell insurance if we mod or dont tell them?

First time in a long time they havent used re003 tyres :O
They were sponsored by Bridgestone weren't they, but those are Michelin so might have changed sponsor
@@ollierobo3681 Yeah, Bridgestone have been a sponsor for a long time.
I've also been on 2 interstate road trips totalling some 20,000km with them on all sorts of roads including a little bit of dirt, Never an issue, will be getting them again when they are needed.
Looking at their website they are now sponsored by Michelin instead of Bridgestone

"offset looks great"
i bet the cops have something different to say with that much poke haha
Had similar offset wheel for about 4 years now and cops havent said anything about it
Yeah straight up that's a massive defect... tyres cannot protrude from the body which is why people get ebay flares...
At first it looks like its poking out but a couple of minutes in into the suspension mod that looks okay probably because it might be steering to the left abit previously
As Project Binky would say "It's going past taking the piss"..
OMG, I used to watch you guys at my teenage JDM stages 15 years ago. It's still fantastic!
Car salesman: Would you like some suspension with your car Sir?
Moog: No thank you.
If I modded my car's suspension it would be to make it a smoother more comfortable ride, sporty suspension hurts my back!

Awesome video, really got the early MCM videos vibe with this one, only difference is that it's not on Marty's mum's driveway
First time I see a Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on the show instead of their usual Bridgestone RE003.
Thought so too!
I am guessing that the Bridgestone sponsorship of the channel has come to an end and Michelin has stepped up.
RE003 are a great bang for your buck tyre. I guess we'll know for sure when they do a rim / tyre change on their next car...
Two things come to mind:
-It's not absolutely necessary that you mod a car.
Them: Sky is the limit!
Me: My wallet is the limit lol
