- Remember 5 Cheap Cars That Look Expensive? Well here is the long awaited successor to that series, except now it's 10% less braindead with an added bonus of me actually owning a cool car now. Remember when I made the first video, it was just satire, and I literally owned a freaking Nissan Sentra? Time sure flies.
In this video, we'll be featuring mods that have no right being as cheap as they are with how expensive they look! Especially to unsuspecting onlookers! Whether it's a $4000 Gold Chrome Wrap that fools plebs into thinking you have $100,000 worth of Gold Paint, or a $400 set of Hydrodipped Carbon Fiber wheels that look just like their $20,000 counterpart!

Quick Corrections: Wraps can still orange peel since they lay on top your paint and conform to it's texture.
Also regarding splitters, some of them will need an Undertray to mount to. Most Sports cars come with a functional undertray for it to attach to, but most economy cars will not.
If a splitter doesn't have an undertray, it's technically a, "Front Lip" as it's downforce benefits are next to none, and it's primary goal at that point is to just scoop air into the grille.
Also since I noticed this video got recommended to a lot of non-car guy first viewers to my channel. Y'all are complaining about, "He talks about his Corvette a lot"

The more Gold Wrapped cars that exist, the less cool expensive paint jobs will become! When people can no longer tell the difference between a $4000 Wrap job vs. a $100K+ Paint job, people will realize how tacky it was to spend A HUNDRED THOUSAND on gold paint in the first place!

Chrome touches look cool, like badges and even the chrome bumpers on older cars look dope, but a total gold wrap is just tasteless

I really think the only gold chrome wrap I've even been like yeah that looks cool (but not great) was an Aventador. But tbh Lambos can any color and they look crazy enough to pull it off

@GegrillteOrange Reality doesn't matter. Opinions do. You can be a broke ass student like me, but as long as you don't look like one, there is no issue. After all, the goal is to look rich not to be rich... or something like that.
If you don't put the flavouring in the ramen you can add butter, salt and a couple pepperonis, makes it much nicer than it already is
Hey motorsport aerodynamacist here: 90% of the time if you buy those splitters or "diffusers" chances are you'll only increase drag and lift rather than downforce as they likely aren't heavily optimized, especially if they're cheap. Plus for a diffuser to really function it has to operate in conjunction with a proper undertray to truly speed up the air. Because of this id warn to stay away if you're buying them purely for these benefits.
However that bonus for paint/bumper protection is smart and I didnt really consider that much. Great video
Some manufacturers already install undertrays in their cars nowadays for fuel economy's sake, but older cars usually don't, and enthusiasts overlook them for more appealing mods such as power and aesthetics. Functional aero mods are completely underrated, and hats off to those that do their research well. (BTW, roof spoilers on sedans and coupes isn't "racecar". It's plain stupid aerodynamically. Just putting it out there.)
yeah someone in my town has a huge carbon fiber spoiler on their mazda3, and i can't help but wonder how much that ruins the fuel economy at highway speeds, it's just a bunch of drag you're adding to the back end of a fwd, stock car, so it's not giving him any benefits at all.
I'm looking into getting a wing, splitter and diffuser for my car for the downforce. It feels a bit unstable over 160 mph. Any suggestions on where to get quality ones?

Honestly duraflex makes some decent side skirts, diffusers and splitters for the vq boys. Their bumpers tho are kinds shit aha
Combining this knowledge with Bladed`s previous video about cheap cars that looks expensive, I might be able to build a good looking car for relatively inexpensive price. Plus, simply cleaning the car and replacing worn out/damaged parts can make a car look way more expensive.
Can confirm front splitters do the job in terms of protected your bumper. Some guy hit a deer in front of me, which then rolled under his truck which caused me to also run over the deer. Thankfully only the splitter snapped off, leaving no damage to the bumper. It would’ve been caved in or even cracked off entirely if the splitter wasn’t there

Imagine youre like really rich, lets say 100 million worth. You can buy every car or every house you want but people could kidnap your kids or something likely to make you give them money so you dont flex and enjoy youre wealth but in a calm way

I think many chrome wraps are ugly, but I will admit that wrapping a car in black-colored chrome looks really cool. It actually looks darker than regular black paint, and if paired with other colors correctly, it looks really amazing.

I'm gonna play devils advocate here and say that macco is actually decent depending on which one you go to. My buddy went to get his fiero gt painted at macco in gold and only spent about $1000 but there wasn't any orange peal. Kind of surprised me.

I was able to wrap my sister’s car for 350$ (well add 50$ in materials to fix the chips and dents) because it had an accident and needed some doors replaced but the insurance totaled it out so for pretty cheap I got some doors and replaced them and then wrapped it using Vvivid vinyl that was on sale. Looks clean with all the dents and chips fixed too. Definitely a fun thing to DIY if you have patience.
Def gonna get two of these on my Mini! The rim protection thing to match the red of my car, and the diamond leather stitching. Should look quite nice! :)
Actually, maybe the splitters as well. Here in Canada having 6 months of permafrost on my floor mat because I have nothing to beat the snow off my boots with, that may be just convenient, lol.

(To clarify, this comment is a joke. I'm not a part of the car community, and I just thought this would be funny.) Hey BA! I had a question. So in just a year I will be taking my drivers test, and I'm planning on trying to get a car and slowly over the years make it better and better. Here we go. I firstly want to paint it monarch gold, give it ruby red tire lights and put some ruby red paint between the cracks of the tires (I love architecture, so you would expect my love of small details to come into play.), possibly make the tire frame monarch gold, and make the brake caliber ruby red for the color scheme. My other ideas are things like removing the tire gap and possibly adding the diagonal tire thing, so I'm thinking about looking into how. Last main thing is a small wing at the back of the car. And no, I won't plastidip, I swear. I know you probably won't see this, but what do you think sounds good?

sounds a lil rice cuz the monarch gold looks like almost a mud color so maybe make that be a storm blue. also maybe make the red lime green almost but a lil darker for the break calipers. Tire lights aint so good so maybe not add that and a small lip spoiler would be good but it depends on the car that its going to go on so just keep that in mind i think also the rims should be like a satin really really dark grey for a good effect on them so you can see the shape but itl look cool at the same time and a gloss carbon fiber vinyl wrap for you're roof would be good but it depends heavily on you're car tho but that's just my opinion its ultimately you're choice really but ye ok bye have a nice day :)
By "diagonal tire thing" I'm assuming you mean camber? Don't add camber, you'll go through tires all the time and it won't ride well.

The bit about splitters reminds me about the trailer hitch on my truck. those things are surprisingly tough. even if it did break I could just walk into Walmart and pick up one for cheap. If the poorly constructed Dodge bumper gets bumped however it will usually just crumple like a soda can, and then cost a fortune to replace. those drop down trailer hitches also work like a step for getting into the bed of a lifted truck. it's round so you probably want to be cautious when using it as a step, but it's definitely better than no step at all. also the brush guard price scares a lot of people but compared to the cost you'd have if a deer/moose/bear ran out in front of you and rekked the front of your truck and the radiator it's actually worth considering.

In high school I wrapped my cheap Boxster with chrome blue wrap. Got waaay too much attention despite the car being half to a third of what everyone else’s new SUVs costed. Worth it.

The Centenario gets a pass. If a diffuser is ugly on a Supercar, you have to remember for them it's, "Function over Form". They're designed to keep those fast AF bad boys on the ground!!! Not for style!! In the same way I think the SVJ is overdesigned compared to the SV, the reality is it was much faster. The Centenario follows similar logic.
What is ugly about the Centenario though, is the tri-exhaust tips. They stick out like a bug's eyes. If I had a Centenario I would legitimately mod them to have either dual or Corvette-style quad tips.
Just to be clear about the gold chrome wrap, it's going to cost roughly 6-8K. Not exactly what I'd consider a "cheap mod" But significantly cheaper than the rear gold paint. Also, all vinyl wraps DO have orange peel. It's just not as large as paint.

Rocker Panels are AMAZING. Especially for my friends with bad paint, or bad body material.
Vinyl wrapping does wonders. I have an Accord and the chrome delete makes it look like one slick and clean grocery getter

This is the 2nd time i've caught you saying "bumpers these days are made of fiberglass not metal". 1) mainly... *only* your corvette (famously) uses FIBERGLASS from the factory to shell the entire body from bumper to bumper. 2) NO car uses metal bumper covers lol. Back in the old days (think 60s, maybe 70s and 80s on mostly trucks) an actual "bumper" was a solid steel beam in front. But CARS in modern times, like pretty much everything ever that isn't a vette or exotic - use POLYURETHANE.. it is a rubberized plastic. NOT fiberglass.
Cheap bodykits are fiberglass. fiberglass will burst and shread when flexed. Urethane will bend and stretch and if the damage is extreme, it will tear, but it is VERY different than fiberglass.
I'm totally guilty of carbon fiber wrapping my interior.
Absolutely zero shame though. It looks nice and also protects the material from sun damage. So it has a purpose outside of looks lol
i have a 2009 Honda civic and it had a problem with the hood and Honda wouldn't fix it it had white scratches on the hood and Honda used to recall them but they didn't with mine so i got my hood carbon fiber wrapped and it looks SO AWESOME and i am so happy with it and some people actually cant tell a difference because its a better wrap job about 400 dollars and a cheap one about 200 dollars and i highly recommend it and i am so happy no scratches or nicks when washing either it is very durable and its very affordable
The diamond-stitched leather, the arim protectors and ground effect aero kits seem pretty nice

So fun fact I actually go to Deakin university in Australia where the current major manufacturer for carbon fibre wheels, carbon revolutions, started as a final year engineering project and apparently from what some of the professors who worked during the time the students who started the company were finishing there final year is that apparently the process for making carbon wheels is completely different to general carbon fibre pieces like body panels so unique that most hyper car manufacturers (except I believe Konigsegg) prefer to have carbon revolutions do it rather than invest in developing the tech required to produce them themselves. Hence the massive price

I have some of those "made in china" diamond stich floor mats in my wrx. They don't look good or expensive. But i love them. The fit is like 85% of the way there but not perfect which is the biggest issue. However, They do protect the carpet from winter and are easy to clean dog hair off of. They're a nice alternative to weathertech.

As a car guy, I would only gold chrome wrap my car if it was for a big event cruise like the gold rush or gumball 3000 alongside advertising and stuff so it stands out. But the wrap goes off once I've made the most out of it photography wise and stuff after the rally 😂

Prices in uk are so different on painting. I've been professionally painting cars since the 80s and I'm telling you, a PERFECT paint job of any standard metallic colour of a c7 z06 that has no body damage, like show room glass like quality, i could do for 4k in British pounds.
My Camaro has a partial wrap on it (only the rear end is wrapped.) I love it, turned out great and I only paid like, $1200 for it

Any recommendations for a 2003 Chilli Mini Cooper S? I've been wanting a little spoiler and rocker panels like the Honda Accord on 9:54. A perfect example is M7tunings Gen1 Mini Cooper S. That's all I would like for it. But idk where to start looking and sadly all the parts on that car are custom and not for sale. Also dope Corvette!!
Splitters are supposed to be aero upgrades not a bumper protector, but they sure do help

Some company vehicles have vinal but for some like my dads van its actually painted decals on the original silver paint of the merc van

For me Ground Effects are more of an essential rather than a mod.
I've spent my entire teenage year without those, and about a 100$ dollar maintenance per month stacks up pretty quickly, specially if you are a student somewhere not in America.
Especially Rocker Panels. Those are God Sent ...

Chrome can look good, it just has to be used as part of a decent design on a car that suits it, a dark Chrome and black Tron style Aventador for example

I am from the school where I don't like having chromes and carbon fiber on my car. But sometimes it does look good, like the roof of my E92. I am also ok with polished metal.

I'm trying to get more into car mods though most of my knowledge comes from repair work which has turned out to be far simpler than modding. Got a job at a repair shop helping out mainly learning alot as I go. Alot of good mechanics there but all old people who think anything that isn't a classic muscle car isn't really worth trying to have fun in. so not alot of help learning there. I have an 04 rainier v8 ls engine and I love. I have alot of general engine knowledge but don't know nearly as much about the rest of the car outside of the engine bay. Are ground effects primary for low sitting cars and would their be any point to doing those on a small suv? Sits about 8-10 inches off the ground. Any other decent recommendations other than beefing the engine?
I want a BRZ but with a wide body rocket bunny kit will a diffuser rockers and a splitter still work on that I’m kinda new to the car community so idk
I had rim savers. If your rims have little gaps or there is a texture on them then air will get under the rubber and they will tear off
