GBO2 Delta Gundam: The most overpowered support!

  • This video contains two recent quick matches I had with the LV1 Delta Gundam. It is a 600 cost support with insane stun potential, very powerful melee, a great transformation mode and extremely rare access to stun resistance despite being a support. I and many others consider it to be the best 600 cost support with it even being considered overpowered. It completely changes the dynamics of 600 cost to where many raids will struggle to stun it and thus struggle to consistently stop it. The first match in this video went really cleanly, even if I was playing reserved and safe. The second match went really well also but unfortunately we had an ally disconnect halfway through. I still think the second match is a good example of how even fighting 4v5, the Delta Gundam has enough raw power to carry that situation to a victory. I hope that you enjoy watching!
    The primary weapon of the Delta Gundam is a beam rifle with 2300 power, 3 ammo, 5.5 seconds cooldown, 15 seconds reload, 0.77 seconds swap and 10% stun value. The ammo is low but it has high power and low cooldown time. It also has abnormally high range for a beam rifle of its type. You can use this in midrange combos or to combo into your powerful melee.
    Its primary melee weapon is a beam saber with 2500 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap, normal combo modifiers with 140% downswing modifier. The melee power alone of this makes it easy to delete generals HP, but the downswing animation makes this even easier in that it is both fast and long ranged.
    Its first sub weapon is a rapid fire beam rifle with 350x4 power, 24 ammo, 1.5 seconds cooldown, 13 seconds reload, 0.77 seconds swap, 400m range and 25%x4 stagger value. With good aim this can stun in one burst, but even with mediocre aim it isn't too difficult to stun in two bursts. This has high ammo and range which means you can basically constantly be spamming this for consistent damage and stuns.
    Its second sub weapon is a vulcan gun with 80 power, 60 ammo, 520 RPM, 10 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap, 180m range, 693 DPS and 5% stagger value. The DPS isn't particularly high here but it stuns in about the same length of time as Jeda/Nu Gundam vulcans. Usually you will prefer the rapid rifle for stun build though.
    Its third sub weapon is a shield beam gun with 1000x2 power, 80% heat, 6 seconds cooldown, 18 seconds overheat, 1.77 seconds swap, 400m range and 25%x2 stagger value. The long swap time means its usually better to start off with this. Its great for stunlocking the enemy with.
    Its fourth sub weapon is a transformed beam gun with 600 power, 18% heat, 18 seconds overheat, 0.5 seconds swap, 400m range and 35% stagger value. This can be fired while boosting and has great damage. You can use this similar to Zeta A1 in that you can stun with this, detransform and then stun to melee combo.
    Its bulk is deceptive. It only has 14000 HP which seems incredibly low for this cost. Defences are geared towards beam defence with 15/31/20 as well. Where it shines though is with its unique skill LV1 Beam Coating. This reduces beam damage taken by 25% and downgrades beam based instant stagger. The effect wears off though after 50% HP and your beam defence is then reduced to 0. The downside is dangerous but while you have this beam coating up, you can practically approach generals with impunity and proceed to destroy them in close range with stuns and melee. It also makes many raids either have less options to stun you, or have poor options to stun you at all. This is a very powerful skill on top of an already very powerful loadout that tips the Delta Gundam over the edge into being overpowered in my view.
    Its other skills are also amazing for a support with access to LV2 Flight Control and Forced Injector, LV1 Balancers and LV3 Gliding Mechanism.
    It also has fair mobility in MS mode with 120 walking, 185 boosting speed, 65 thrust and 66 turn. Yet its transformed stats are very good with 195 cruising speed, 240 boosting speed and 54 turning speed. It can very easily get around with its powerful transformation or use it to go on the offensive.
    Overall I think that Delta Gundam is definitely overpowered. Its loadout is very strong without even considering its Beam Coating skill. Adding this on top makes it both hard for many raids to consistently stop and for generals to even survive against it to begin with. Many generals have quite poor matchups against it which makes them easy pickings for the Delta. I see it basically as a similar situation to Hildolfr for how strong it is. I believe they need to rework the beam coating skill so that more raids can consistently stop it and so that it can't beat generals in 1v1 for free. I hope that you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!

    So the anti beam coating works until your HP went below 50%...i'd imagine the pilot came out from the suit with cans of Anti Beam Coating and reapply them before HP reaches below 50% lol

    I remember when delta came out and people were immediately doubting it with having more melee focus compared to other supports and its double-edge beam coating, but it just ended up as the new meta days later where it remains today.

      Yeah people definitely didn't think this was good on release. But with Delta Gundam being picked in half or more of matches it feels like, I wonder if they changed their minds lol.

    One year later, even after the nerf thank you for not only showing the delta's capabilities, but helping me show to my buddy I'm trying to get into the game how different MS roles doesn't mean there aren't supports that can't melee etc. It is all about the suit

      I like the colours for Delta II more lol so I used it. I wonder if we will ever get Delta Gundam II as an actual MS though.

    Months later, it got nerfed..
    PC player here, despite it's current state I just love using this thing. I agree, it has problems, can't stack as much damage on it anymore because you need to save slots for HP and defenses, however I just can't help but love it, it's incredibly fun to play! I personally play it as a ranged gunner more, I am aware that it has a really good melee option but I figured that it's best to reserve that as a defense option or as follow up on a downed enemy, which is why I only put in a level 4 melee part. I would like to get closer, but I'm not yet that great with melee so I will have to practice first.
    ..Now in SPACE this thing is an absolute monster, from my personal experience! I don't know if it's just that many people on PC don't do space matches and as such aren't as used to that type of combat, but I had a great time using it in space, AND I can actually use the flight mode properly there!
    All in all, probably could be buffed back up a little, but I'm happy with it.

    Fun fac: half hp u probably gona get targeted by the half of the enemy beam team

  • @TheRealCakekey
    @TheRealCakekey ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This thing has created some problems, certainly. While instant stun beam weapons aren't the only weapons in the game, many suits have no other viae ranged options. Not every MS can trade its beam rifle for a bazooka, and those who can't are likely to be helpless against this thing. Even with numbers tweaked, being able to overcome most trades through what is essentially superarmor would still make it difficult to pin down/punish effectively(not to mention feeling pretty bad for the other player, who has no menaingful way to interact with it).
    On a side note, I'm dying to see the Hyaku Shiki pick up this skill eventually. I genuinely think the skill wouldn't be an issue on a suit that's inherently forced into a riskier playstyle. The Delta Gundam having this protection along with being optimally played at a safe range is what breaks it

    • @avenger1_gbo260
      @avenger1_gbo260  ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be an interesting addition for Hyaku Shiki. Might sort of be like the skill Zee Zulu has to avoid stun in a sense.

    I know I'm late but I kind of hate that this suit is here, lore wise the suit was ok, but fluked hard, I mean the data test proved that if the Delta transformed its moveable frame would be messed up, not allowing it to transform again, and the suit form was kind of underwhelming if I remember correctly, is it cool its here, kind of, but to be the new meta for a while and being the very best 600 Cost support for a suit that shouldn't even work is kind of.. ridiculous, but I do like its inclusion but keep to the lore and remove the transformation and this suit would be lore accurate again! Or add a mechanic where it can only transform once a life or until its repaired. sorry for the essay but I'm curious to anyone who sees this to tell me your point of view on this : )

    As I said in one of your previous Videos, Delta Gundam is an absolute menace, but I really want it to stay that way. I do think its support VS non Delta Gundam support match up is a bit too good since most 600 meta relevant supports mostly focus on Beam weapons with only a few with Physical stunning weapons or good stagger values.

    • @avenger1_gbo260
      @avenger1_gbo260  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's really funny against Zeta C1. I can stun it with transformed rapid beams, detransform BR then melee combo. I think I did it a couple of times in the second match but it can legit just kill C1 in one combo lol. If you do neutral>down combo.
      Who needs a raid?

    With this being geared towards beam defense, would ballistic focus raids like the Gundam Unit 5 or the S Gallus stand a better chance of going toe to toe with the Delta Gundam? The Unit 5 especially with its gatling Cannon being able to harass from range.

    • @blackarotthegreat8191
      @blackarotthegreat8191 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had pretty good luck with the Modified Rick Dijeh since it has the clay bazooka, bird lime, and 80 round vulcans against it. Plus you do alot of extra damage with 2 tackles.

    • @avenger1_gbo260
      @avenger1_gbo260  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unit 5 yes but only on the condition you are using the BST version. The gatling cannon seems like a good option but usually its very simple for a Delta Gundam or supports in general to just position themselves better. Its hard to hit them if they position themselves well.
      I would just use Unit 5 BST if you are going that way and try to just melee. You have very strong melee along with ballistic insta stun with a beam build stun sub weapon.
      S-Gallus IDK cause it seems like the Delta Gundam could just wall you out with build staggers. S-Gallus only has 100% stagger resistance so the rapid fire beam rifle could repeatedly stagger you over and over.

      Try Char's dijeh. If I remember right, charge shot can drop it out of the sky when it is transformed. the quad strum Faust and fast vulcan will quickly delete the beam coating. It also got sealant launcher but I have yet to land it on delta when it is transformed.

      Again, a gelgoog vertex raid will make mince meat to a delta gundam. It can stun accumulate either the gatling bean gun or the tetra's rifle with one burst.
      The vertex has damage control and maneuver armor lv 2. It's hard to stun and stagger the ms with the delta gundam.

    I've had some issues dealing with this suit but I never knew it was the best support at 600. For some reason I've never encountered them alot nor have I ever used it a whole lot . So I never really got skilled at using it.

    • @avenger1_gbo260
      @avenger1_gbo260  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At my rating I see Delta Gundam in roughly half the games im in on the enemy team. So its a good idea to learn the matchup even if you don't use it yourself.
      The suit itself isn't super difficult to use other than standard shooting suit positioning. Its pretty easy to play it by just comboing shield beam>beam rifle>rapid beam. If you do have it then I would recommend playing it some more, even if its just to figure out personally what the strengths and weaknesses are.

    If you repair your suit after beam coating goes away, do you get it back or at least get your beam defense back?

    • @avenger1_gbo260
      @avenger1_gbo260  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes. So if you do lose the beam coating, you can repair it assuming you survive the fight. In that sense its actually kinda advantaged to have just 14000 HP since it doesn't take much repairing to recover your beam coating.

  • @willstaub6581
    @willstaub6581 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don’t think the Delta Gundam is OP per say, it’s just really strong. It requires raids to think more about stun build ups with beam weapons or deciding to take a ballistic stun option/see what ballistic stun options a suit has and not rush in like a normal raid would. When your typical engagement as a raid is 200-300m the Delta can easily be deleted in one melee combo/heavy attack.

    • @avenger1_gbo260
      @avenger1_gbo260  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well it is definitely severely limiting their options. It means that every raid with an instant stagger beam option can't use it (even applies to the counters like Modified Rick Dijeh, Hambrabi and Vertex). Some raids like A1 have no good option to fight it either. Bawoo is losing its charged beam rifle and shield beam to stun. Re-GZ loses the beam rifle and has to now rely on long reload arm grenades/hip rockets. Byarlant Custom can't stun it without shooting rapid beams.
      So even if a few of the raids can stop it pretty consistently, its a pretty bad match-up for many others at the same time. Massively reducing their stun options. Many generals struggle to defend themselves against Delta as well such as Jesta, Doven Wolf or ReZEL.
      Keep in mind that all what I just said is just the implications from the beam coating skill alone. Its kit would be incredibly strong even without the beam coating being a factor. In terms of loadout alone it is sort of like a melee focused C1 that trades heavy stagger for superior mobility, melee damage and stunlock ability.
