GBO2 Delta Gundam: It's immune to beam staggers?!

  • This video contains two recent matches I had with the LV2 Delta Gundam on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 600-650 cost support with high mobility, a strong transformed mode, two instant staggers, strong melee ability and an Anti-Beam Coating skill which nullifies beam instant staggers as long as MS HP is 50% or higher. It suffers from very low HP to account for the beam coating skill however, and it has mediocre stun accumulation. This suit has become incredibly painful to play in 600 cost where it isn't uncommon to see entire teams of Atlas Gundams who can bypass your beam coating, but I have found great success in 650 cost instead where there is no Atlas. Delta Gundam still feels strong if played carefully at this cost, so I hope that you enjoy watching!
Its primary weapon is a beam rifle with 2500 power, 3 ammo, 5.5 seconds cooldown, 15 seconds reload, 555m range and 10% stagger value. It has low ammo, but the cooldown is fast and the power is high. It instantly staggers so it can combo easily into melee or further shooting combos.
Its primary melee weapon is a beam saber with 2625 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time and 140% downswing modifier. The power is pretty good as is, but the downswing modifier means it is like swinging with a 2800 power saber if you are just going straight for the downswing. The downswing is a straight forward stab that is fast enough to be confirmed from stuns, it is also capable of hitting knocked over enemies.
Its first sub weapon is a rapid fire beam rifle with 375x4 power, 24 ammo, 1.5 seconds cooldown, 13 seconds reload, 0.77 seconds swap time, 400m range and 10%x4 stagger value. This doesn't stun in one burst like the pre-nerf version could, so you can't rely on it for stagger accumulation. But this still has a ton of ammo and decent damage, so you can use it as a combo ender for easy damage.
Its second sub weapon is a head vulcan gun with 84 power, 60 ammo, 520 RPM, 10 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap time, 180m range, 728 DPS and 5% stagger value. This can stun in 2.3 seconds which is pretty nice for a vulcan, but the DPS is just ok. You will be relying on this more for stun accumulation since the nerfs.
Its third sub weapon is a shield beam gun with 1100x2 power, 80% heat, 6 seconds cooldown, 18 seconds overheat, 1.77 seconds swap time, 400m range and 25%x2 stagger value. This is the ideal combo starter due to the long swap time and decent stagger value. It instant staggers and can chain into your beam rifle for another. It can also combo into your vulcans if you need to break Maneuver Armor.
The LV2 Delta Gundam has 13000 HP, 17 ballistic resist, 33 beam resist and 22 melee resist. It seems ridiculously squishy on paper, but the beam coating stun resist means you can avoid taking follow-up damage.
It also has 120 (185) walk speed, 195 (240) boost speed, 65 thrust and 66 (54) turning speed. It has some of the highest mobility of any 600-650 cost support in MS mode while also having access to a highly mobile transformed state to easily traverse the battlefield or to reach high up places to shoot down from. It has both LV2 Forced Injectors and LV2 Flight Control, which are very rare skills for supports to have.
The Beam Coating skill reduces incoming beam damage taken by 25% and nullifies beam instant stuns while active, but once HP falls below 50% the effect will end and your beam defence will be set to 0. Against suits which rely on beam instant stuns you have a gigantic advantage when this skill is active, but you are quite squishy once it ends. This means that you can press the advantage with your stun resistance and two instant staggers in 1v1 against most generals and supports, dealing high damage with your melee afterwards. A lot of raids have a tough time as well, needing to stun accumulate you rather than going for the instant stun.
Overall I feel like the Delta Gundam can still be an incredibly strong suit in the right hands. It is basically a support that can temporarily play aggressively like a general if the beam coating is still active, which can be pretty insane in the right match-ups. One mistake often leads to the suits death though, since the MS HP is so low. It has become sort of unviable in 600 cost as well, due to the risk of running into teams of Atlas Gundams which the Delta has no clear answer to. Playing it at 600 cost is still perfectly fine, but it is a bit of a gamble with the risk of Atlas, so I prefer to play it in 650 cost these days. So until the Atlas is nerfed just stick to 650. I can't recommend this suit to every support player since it requires you to be on top of your game with positioning and awareness for basically the entire match, but it can be highly rewarding when played well. Thanks for watching!

Something I want to add is that the beam resist skill does come back if you repair your suit above half health. Sure, it's probably only enough for a single beam stun, but that might be all you need to win.

It is definitely worth repairing it past 50% HP for this reason yeah.

Immune to beam staggers and can fly with some reliable stuns, with melee combo, this thing is a pain to go against.
Fun to work with and play, but be careful about melee attacks and ballistics like rockets, they hurt.... a LOT.
GGWP always a pleasure to watch you cook and broil avenger!!!

I've always thought this was better at 650 since the best 650 raids have limited ballistic options. It's a nightmare to deal with when using quebeley, even the mk ii quebeley. You did incredibly well, considering there were two raids in that first match. Great use of the melee attacks

@EcchiRevenge i think I wrote this before qub mk 2 got its pursue funnels buffed. Char's dijeh is a pretty good option since it was buffed as well. Not that it really matters, since the Dleta nerfs seem to have scared lots of players away from it in 650

@EcchiRevenge yeah, xeku zwei is a real problem for a lot of suits. When there's 2 on an enemy team, it's kind of miserable to play. Haha, I knew they were strong, but I didn't realize the char dijeh shield sturms were THAT strong. That's wild 🤣 I don't miss pre nerf Delta Gundam at all, though

@EcchiRevenge where were all my char dijeh teammates when Delta was at full power? hahahaha

Oooooh, so this is why my rick dijeh's main gun couldn't stun it but the shotgun could. Good to know.

Nice to see a Delta Gundam do well! What modification parts do you use on your build? I tend to be a little more of an aggressive support player and I generally use thrust parts for transforming MS. The health is so low though, do you recommend prioritizing anything in particular? Great video, thank you!

I have a screenshot with the build I used at the very start of the video. The build is LV4 ranged damage increase, LV3/2/1 new model frame, LV5/4 strengthened frame and LV3/1 thrusters.
Increasing HP is definitely essential for this suit.

Feels like they should just unnerf or buff its stun values so it has more options for atlas tho i say whats hindering it is high speed movement gbo2 doesn’t like giving supports good high movement speed 😂

I would like to add, this and the new bulky ms that I can not remember the name, are the only ones that justify going to base for repairs or doing it yourself, just to keep the coating.

I love the delta gundam, but the nerfs it had gotten killed me inside, but I still do wonders with it
