    The beginning part of your video where you are describing the problems we have from painting in our garage was spot on... I'm a little better than some I guess as I have ZERO orange peel, and NO runs, drips, or sags... however.. it looks like I threw a handful of beach sand into the clear coat while it was still wet... It's now a NON-SLIP surface because of all the nibs. That would be the best way to describe it. If I try and remove every nib in my paint-I will be sanding the ENTIRE panel.. so.. that's my plan. Just wet sand with 1500, then 2000, then 3000, then cut/buff/polish. Sucks because it is a beautiful finish.. just TONS of nibs.

    You nailed it in your introduction, I had just sprayed my Z28 in my garage, and I had the problems you were about to help me correct 😢, but then you start bringing introducing all kinds of high tech chemicals and power tools, DUDE !! I’m in my garage not able to afford all that I’m going to have to purchase to get the results u got, that’s why I painted the car myself to save SOME MONEY!!!!

      you can get an electric DA for like 30 bucks at walmart the sandpaper is a little tricky at that grit and disc size. The rest was just detail cremes and a buffer. You can buy handheld electric buffers but itll take forever and possibly burn through clear just as easy. The handheld minibuffers and pads probably cost ya 70 if going cheap and compounds vary. Think all thats bad try and buy just one gallon of primer from sherwin williams😂. Paint process is expensive and minor errors mean repainting the whole panel and possibly nearby panels for color match at that point. You can just use a tennis ball and some cheap buff compound and elbow grease for minor crappy repairs though. Definitely gonna see swirls though and minor scratches especially black cars.

    • @CJ-yk4sn
      @CJ-yk4sn หลายเดือนก่อน

      A decent nib/scratch and polish repair will probably cost ya between 150-200 if you get lucky with cheap materials and nothing to start. Good luck not burning the clear itll definitely cost alot more at that point to getting resprayed.

    One of my good buddies is amazing when it comes to painting. To give yourself a fighting chance doing it at home is make sure your gun and psi is set right. Use the right tip for what you're spraying. Wheather it be primer-sealers, color, or clear. Having 20 different paint guns for different things helps lol. Setting your gun and psi correctly are the most important things from what I'm told.

    • @anonimous2451
      @anonimous2451 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, setting your gun has many aspects to it. Flow, Fan, PSI, and also adjusting the fan correctly to spray out right. All details are important.

    i would call myself a hobbyist detailer. just picked up an 04 mustang GT vert so decided to paint the hood scoop and trying to fix the clearcoat spots lifting. Well, hood scoop has a shit ton of orange peel and color looks great (wish it matched up with the color of the car , but what can you expect from a 20 year old OEM paint. I have watch a ton of vids on removing spots and OP and by far this video is the best I have come across. Great job! Sub'd as well and I tend not to do that unless the content and the delivery is top notch.

    Also smart on knowing that you use wool pads like that with a rotary. Many make a mistake of using them with a DA long throw polisher not realizing they just arent designed to be effective with DA polishers. Nice to see another professional who put the time in learning and remembering it. I use a lot of 3D One with buff n shine urofiber 50/50 pads on my own vehicles that i have done a 2 step correction on in the past. Lately i have been using for my last step a polish by Carpro called Reflect, i swear its the best final polish/enhancement

    Spot on with the tip on brands of sand paper and thats weather you are buying sheets or disc, or coarse grits for body work, or fine grits for polishing. I learned a long time ago about cheap sand paper now i stick with Mirka, 3M, and Norton. For polishing clear I like using Mirka Galaxy 1000, then 2000grit, 5" disc, then use 3M trizact 3000 followed by 5000grit. I also polish with 3D brand compound and polish

    Fantastic Job! I have been doing exactly what you have been doing and I have 1st hand knowledge that these steps work. Although the nib tool scares me that if the nib is deep it may be pulled out like an ingrown hair then i am stuck with paint cup, air brush, and blending clear in hand...Ouch! But you do extremely professional videos and work! I am a union cameraman and video engineer in Chicago, it's nice to have a pro bodyman go the extra mile and have a good microphone. clean audio, and solid in focus HD video!!! @lad63bird - shooter/editor here. Happy that you like the content and production quality. I started in broadcast production in 1981 and recently retired. U-Wrench is my sons business so to give myself something to do I started their channel. It’s a totally different beast compared to the productions. I’ve been used to for the last 40 years. I try my best with the limited equipment that I have but I’m hoping in the future that I can invest a little bit more as the channel grows. The most difficult thing if you watch any of the other videos on our channel is the lighting. The fluorescents in the shop are 3800 Kelvin and then I’ve got daylight through the open doors around 5600 so at times that really wreaks havoc with the white balance. I’m hoping that we can get the fluorescents changed to a daylight temperature soon. Anyway thanks for the comment and I hope that you like the other content on our channel as well.

      @@UWrenchTV WELL...Don't sell yourself short, way better than most...Now I have to throw more Kudos your way! I went through 3m products that sucked, they did not cut well, were dangerous to breath, and cost was prohibited at best, tried the Meguiars line of product, 105 was ok, went to 100, a little better, but still wore out my wrists with prolonged excessive buffing trying to get a shine...I bought a 8 ounce bottle of 3D 510 just to check it out...HOLY CRAP! 2000 SCRATCHES TWO PASSES, 3000 SCRATCHES, ONE QUICK SLOW PASS...GONE! I AM BUYING GALLONS OF THE WHOLE LINE WHEN I GET THE SPARE CHANGE!!! Best product l have ever used, "Hands Down"!. Note to all car refinishers/do it yourself-ers or Pros! 3D is the only product line that truly makes you smile, SAVES TIME, REALLY SHINES, low price by comparison! Well Done U-wrench!!! Everybody listen to this man! I say, 3D should give you cases of this stuff for helping sell it.....
      PS: I actually had some minor orange peel near an edge and carefully took it out with this stuff, "Never have done this before", I don't recommend you do either...LOL, but I JUST had to know!

    I just painted my gas tank on my motorcycle and used the can of 2k high gloss clear and it turned out good but I had alot of trash doing it in my garage. But I used 1500 grit wet sand and it's all gone. Now I'm going to go with 2500 and 3000 get then biff but I never buffed anything so I bought 3D cut and polish off amazon I'm hoping it's not complicated since there is so many weird edges on a tank unlike a flat door.

    Cool video. I assume that noobs were lost at 1st but if they'd dipped into paint a bit, got a ton out of this. I liked it.
    When feeling paint: A guy, years ago asked me to feel the paint he was working on. It felt like satin.. He then took the plastic wrapper off his cigarette box and asked me to use it as a glove to "feel" the paint.
    I felt everything. Things I didn't before and couldn't see.
    If you haven't tried this, blow your own mind and try it.
    Cheers!

    You mentioned not to use wax on fresh paint? How long do you need to wait before waxing? How long before I can use a ceramic or graphene coating? Personally I think it was perfect where you left it at the end without waxing to apply a graphene coating

    Question.
    Have many dinks from stone hitting my doors and along the whole side.
    Was somewhat semi sucessful in painting the doors and front fender to the rear wing up to the windows.
    Three things messed up something which does look like a decent paint job, black metallic, one was wind, my masking was ripping to pieces landing in to wet paint.
    Next thing which really messed up the clear coat was pollen, and the fact that I went out of 2k clear coat. Aka, not enough to cover.
    Third thing which messed this up was the stone chipping was just a hair to deep to be covered with filler primer, so the small areas is shining out like white circles.
    How can I fix this?
    Sand paper, k400 and go back to bare metal in the affected areas, redo the bondo and wet sand with k1200, over the whole area, blend in pain in the spots and clean it well, before I take another attempt with enough clear coat and then polish it up?
    Or is this beyond every hope of salvation?

    Great video and detailed instructions. How much air pressure do you use?
    I know it's been a while you made this video, but.
    Do you remember what color, or better yet, the code on the tailgate?
