hello I know its 1 year ago video but just asking how can I change the distance from direct drive too the nozzle, I have installed new Direct Drive for my CR10s pro v2 and using Cura slicer btw. lose the video about changing the distance
That was quite helpful actually, but what are some good super high quality safe print specs for an out of the box neptune 3 plus doing elegoo pla? Hi again. I know it's a ton of work, but you're the best man for the job! Does that sound like a boss trying to convince you to work overtime? Sorry if it sounds like that. Anyway, do you think you could make a series just on all the settings in Cura, and how each one effects the print? I use Prusa slicer right now, but I like the plug in ability of Cura. This video is really a good one, especially how you showed detailed examples of the speed and layer height settings. If you could make an over all guide to Cura, I think it could become the de-facto Cura reference. Tons of people would view it because there's no definitive Cura reference video out there. You have a great way of teaching, so a series like this would be a remarkable. Again, great video, look forward to part two!
Well first of boss I can explain why I was 20 mins late to work today. 😂😂😂 I really want to thank you for the amazingly kind words. I honestly can’t tell you what it means to me. To directly answer your statement. There is so much to Cura. I’ve thought about doing a more advanced series but it’s going to take a ton of time and testing. I never just want to say things without proof. Anyone can talk but can they back it up. That’s why I’m giving examples. I’m gunna cover a lot of the big stuff in the next two videos where a lot of people have issues. So if there are some things you want to know after these let me know. I’ll do my best as always to help. Again, thank you so much for my support of my channel.
What speeds should I use for acceleration? I have printed some busts at 100 mm/s and 0.1 layer high, tough with the acceleration on like 10 000 mm/s, but it wobbles a bit since its moving so fast (cant notice ant defects with it tough). Should I lower it by 50% to 5000 mm/s or even lower?
I have an error when using 5.4 to print. The outer wall layer only runs at 30 speed while I use it at 120 speed in cura. I have tried everything but can't fix it. With one small detail, the previous print only took 17 minutes. Now it has lasted 1 hour. What should I do to fix it? Thank you.
Ok, so when you're adjusting layer thickness you can check what is the minimal turn of motors in your printer responsible for lifting the head up and down. In my Creality S1 it's 0.04mm therefore you go for multiplication of this. 0.08, 0.12, 0.16 etc.
your flow to speed is not due to the nozzle, but the heating element. You can print faster, by printing Hotter. The downside is a higher need for part cooling fans, as the hot plastic coming out, will lose shape if it stays hot too long. The amount of material pushed out, does have limits, based on each hot end design - but honestly most people aren't hitting them until they are printing above 220C (for PLA) and still unable to get enough plastic out. Part cooling is just as important as everything else. Especially if you want to print fast and have it look nice at the same time.
@@ItsMeaDMaDe I've literally just watched about 3 hrs of your videos and learned so much. When you dial in your settings for example the z height distance for floor and roof supports will that be it for every model I print or will it change depending on what I print?. Hope I have made sense here. Thanks
@@dannyspencer933 yeah, I have quite a few videos. I’m glad to hear you were able to take some info out of them. So when it comes to dialing in your settings, you will have to tweak it if you change your layer height. that is when I have found. I don’t get my good support settings that I dialed in so I have had to create support settings for the different layer Heights that I use. So if you always use a .1 mm layer height and that is where you’ve dialed in your settings, you should never need to change it again. at least I have not changed my settings since I’ve got it really good and dialed in and it prints good every single time and the supports come off easily. I hope that’s helped.
Love your video with good details and to the point. I noticed that your infill speed is set to 25 and speed to 60. I'm just wondering since it's inside the project and it's not really visible would it be better to set it to a higher speed to reduce time or will it affect the project ? Like Speed 20 and Infill 60, would it still be as nice ? Thanks
What Top/Bottom Thickness do you have set? Im trying to copy your full setup, So i can hopefully get a successful print... So far, Ive had my Anet A8 for a little over a day, And not had 1 successful print :(
Yes it would be stronger. I personally would say no from experience it will not make your print look worse. But I always suggest doing test prints to see what works with your printer.
I honestly don’t remember if it saved from Cura 4 to 5. But you can export your profile settings and import them into the updated version. If your just updating to a new update of the same version I do believe it saves it.
Thank you for this! I use Simplify3D mainly but a lot of this applies. I’ve sat in front of my printer and re-printed the same thing close to 20X to test settings and results to get everything dialed in. One thing I still have issues with is overhangs could still be nicer so I will try dropping print speed in half when it gets to overhangs to see if it makes a difference. Great video!!
Your welcome. And thank you for the kind words. That’s why I was also trying to explain more theory of what it does cause it can apply to any slicer as well. I use to use simplify3D but switch to Cura. I enjoy the interface more. Both great tools.
I deleted Cura and reinstalled it, but all my models are very small in size!! What can I do to return the size of my models in Cura to their original size? Thanks
You can use the scale tool on the left side of the screen and scale the model up that way. Also make sure your printer settings are correct. I’ve made the mistake of having a bigger bed than I have get messed up in settings and my models looks small but it turned out it was my bed size.
When it comes to speed, what you're showing mainly comes to the wall / top layer speed no? I know that those are usually 1/2 of the inputed speed but if they're being overriden (like it seems to be in your SPEED SETTINGS section) then the speed shouldn't do much right?
Without attempts to increase the Flow setting, it's not conclusive to say a .4 nozzle can't output a better .3mm layer height... Yes, eventually something like a volcano nozzle will be required to heat up the filament, but .3mm and good layer adhesion should be achievable.
Just finished a cube, 0.3mm layer hight with 0.4mm nozzle. No issue with layers, could probably push it a tad higher. But, im not sure. Have direct drive, and motor is larger than few other printers i looked at. Only issue i have with the cube model is the corners. Corners kinda bulge, like it goes to far then split second after corner it reposition it self according to dimension. so atm. Currently trying to figure out what is causing this. Suspecting my print speed has been a bit aggressive. But im not sure if this can take all the blame. So many factors that can produve results im getting. But hey, luckily i was aware 3d printing is not yet plug and play or forget. More a hobby, where there is so much to learn to get the most out of your printer.
bah... I just went down a rabbit hole trying to find the STL for the pegboard paint holders visible in your background and I can find similar... but not THESE :O( If you could drop a link I would totally appreciate it
I tried adjusting my print speed and no mater what, the printer keeps printing like as if I never changed the speed. For example, cura default printing speed is at 50 mm and it says that print time is 10 minutes. I change it to 30 mm andits still the same. Things gets more crazy wheni tried setting print speed at 100 mm or 200 mm and the time is still 10 minutes. This is a first for it to hapen to me. My first printer is a Tronxy x5sa and it's crappy. But I'm at least able to print an articulated slug at a 30 mm print speed. My new printer, ender 3 s1 pro, is just butiful and works like a charm, but I can't get the speed right. I do belive that it's the slicer though. I could manually slow down the speed directly on the printer as it's printing, but that defeats the pourpous of setting the speed in cura. Plus i can't realy tell at what percentage matches with 30 mm a second and I can't tell how long the print will take as cura left me with 10 minutes and the printer screen doesn't tell you how long it will take or how much time is left for it to finish. Please help, I realy need to know as speed is everything and I need to eventually print small detailed parts that require slower print speeds.
Cool. I'm having an issue dialing in a new printer. It is a geeetech a30t three colours single nozzle. It's not a bad machine, a bit under developed. Their software is mediocre.
@@ItsMeaDMaDe It's been out for a while, I was surprised how few there are. I can see why. It's not bad for the money, but the extruder drives are poor and the software is lame. I am changing them over to gear drive in a more creality style extruder drive. Even if the 3 colour doesn't work, it's still 330 x 330 x 420. Keep at it. you are informative.

More a hobby, where there is so much to learn to get the most out of your printer.
hi guy! can you give me full setting? thanks so much!!!
is it possible to go with 0,08 on layer height with a 0,4 nozzle?
I think my Anycubic Kobra 2 Pro with 0.4 nozzle says it can go down to 0.05 on layer height, I have just tried 0.1 and it works great.
GOD!!!My broo

Thanks so much I really appreciate it!
Amazing vídeo
Thanks so much!
Why is it that when I print anything lower than 0.2mm I lose print quality?
I hope these settings will help me and I really do know more that what I did before
This is gunna sound like a bot ngl
Cool. I'm having an issue dialing in a new printer. It is a geeetech a30t three colours single nozzle. It's not a bad machine, a bit under developed. Their software is mediocre.
I’ve seen those printers but haven’t heard anything about them. Hope you get it dialed in good.
@@Matt2chee well I wish you luck with it. That’s why I go with creality on my fdm printers. Parts are readily available and there are tons of mod kits for them. Thanks a lot for the kind words. I love learning everything I can and just want to spread the knowledge to help people. I’ve been doing 3D printing for almost 8 years now and the space has changed so much. Just want to give people the help I didn’t have (or wasn’t around) when I first started.

My Ender v3 se prints at 180mm/s and im okay with that lol
speed and quality , at the same time, on a fdm machine, um, not possible
Agreed. I’m not talking about getting both. It’s about the settings for each.
Urghhh 20 mm/s , jk I havent tried anything that slow, but I should to get a better quality. Great stuff.
😂 I know! It’s terribly long print times but I haven’t found anything that gets as good results. My longest print was 9 days! But it was so amazing. All I can wish for you is great prints and lots of patience. Lol.
I'm printing at 70mm on a stock Aquila and having no issue...
i use 250mm/s 😅😅😅
5.1 now
me on a 100.0 mm/s print speed without even noticing
your video is called Quality and speed, I see quality settings here, But speed is crap. with all those speeds it takes days something I ususaly print in few hours. travel speed 20 ??? realy, ? I print at 80 and its ok for 0,6 nozlle. you did great explanation how to get quality print but Dont advertize this as "speed" print
damn 404 like count...nice
Lol. That’s funny.
