I'm wondering if he's worried about introducing Jenny's daughter and her wife. I don't think that would be something that they would accept either. At least that is what I would expect. It's always so weird to me when some viewers say things like "I want a relationship like Sumit and Jenny's." Apparently, everyone has forgotten how this all started with catfishing and lies, how lazy and dependent Jenny is and how Sumit wants her to do all the big sacrifices (i.e., moving to his country and dealing with his family with no hope of returning back home).
These two are not nearly as explosive as other 90-Day Fiance couples, but they are certified dysfunctional.

Jenny needs to understand that yes working 7 days a week is a lot for some BUT when opening a new business, you have to sacrifice for a while whilst you build it and make it successful. She is SOOOO unsupportive, clingy and desperate. She wants to do “fun things” with Sumit yet she made a big deal out of her arm because she apparently isn’t capable of doing simple things, she just wants Sumit glued to her 24/7 not knowing she’s literally sucking the life out of him. Also, she’s complaining over a few dishes he left behind after HE cooked a meal for her, her daughter and her daughters partner 😭 she really just needs to let this poor young man go and go hire a carer in America.

It’s aggravating to me when people say they accept your culture, but by their demands, clearly aren’t accepting it. Marriage in India connects the bride to the family, it doesn’t disconnect the groom from his. The whole “she’s his wife, now he is attached only to her” is not a thing in India. It’s part of our, Jennie’s, culture. It might eventually dawn on someone that this group is having a culture clash.

The parents do approve or disapprove of the choice for a spouse there. I’m not an expert on Indian customs. I know mostly about one type of Indian marriage culture, where the parents (with guidance from others known to be good at matchmaking), choose a group of acceptable partners, then their adult child chooses from among them. Jennie wouldn’t have been included in the list of possible contenders. Summit’s family arranged his first marriage and they eventually complied when he desperately wanted out.
I believe the parents have compromised quite a bit: the mother stopped absolutely insisting that Sumit leave Jennie (with threats of the mother’s suicide). They said, ok, we won’t stop you. They didn’t force him not to marry. (you might not think of these changes as compromises, but they seem like it to me). After Sumit went ahead with the wedding without their blessing or knowledge, the mother disowned him. She does communicate through others; and the parents repaid the first wife’s considerable dowry.
I wasn’t saying in my previous post that it’s culturally a norm to just get married to someone you find attractive, and then the parents have to accept the spouse into their family.
A colleague once introduced me to the idea of being an Indian wife, because when I inquired about learning to cook Indian food, she gave me a complete layout of recipes and let me know that preparing these meals would be expected of a wife every day. It looked delicious, but in my head, I thought eff that. t’s hard work that I wasn’t up to doing even in my 20s.
Anyway, the whole J & S situation seems like a farce. From the catfishing, to accepting a catfisher, through the marital infidelity, then the lies, it seems like an ongoing, slow motion train wreck. I don’t see how they will manage any of the inevitable conflicts. Summit seems lost where to start. Jennie and her daughter are trying to force their take on the issue. I just don’t have any idea how this could be resolved given who they are and how they communicate.

I struggled with this in my last relationship but I learned my lesson. It makes people feel smothered. I got remarried and although it makes me anxious I let him have alone time daily. I think if you don’t have time to miss someone the relationship crashes and burns. Not to mention everyone deserves alone time to decompress. The only way she will learn this is if she self reflects.. it took a min for me to realize that I had an attachment style problem and a best friend that was honest with me about it .

I think their relationship with his parents is very shakey. He doesn't need to stir the pot.
