My problem with the survivor side last time was that literally every game was the same. Huntress + Trapper. Guranteed one of the two if not both in the lobby. Those two are just plain overpowered in this mode. It will probably be the same this time around, but we will see. They just needed to add more than 3 killers that are more interesting and fun to play than blight, spirit, and deathslinger.
Honestly, the Fearmonger class is basically just an idea for a killer/survivor perk I had, which would give a 5 or 10% haste effect when you’re not in the line of sight with your opponent. (Not just when you aren’t being looked at, but when you CAN be seen.), and for Killer it would become deactivated when you retain LOS with a survivor within 16 meters and remain deactivated until you walk 24 meters away from a hooked survivor.
Ill clarify that it is not "GIga Empathy" it is normal empathy. Empathy is super underrated and people often forget that its 128 meter range is basically map wide, its awesome.
Made 4 random friends during last 2v8... Seems like specific Killer mains are trying to group up with other "specific" killers. Idea didn't help with que times tho 😢
the gen change is very interesting and I think they could be testing this for the main gamemode. makes it so stomps on either side are less. it’s still small but it’s nice for either side getting stomped to have a bit more of a chance
I can't see this working out. They seem to have removed the fun element, and stacked the game heavily to killer side. I already feel like, I will be waiting to play Killer for ages, and then just giving up on the event in real terms. I hope I'm wrong and misunderstand some of these changes. I foresee a lot of slugging, and alot of Blight and Spirit. (Nurse takes to much skill for most to use, when these are available). The double tap and trying to slug everyone will be a bigger problem here i think than in the last event. We also have one down billy, that will add to this, and rush in double taps. The pick up/flashlight save element, will I think simply remove the pace from this event. It was the stomp and retain chase of other survivors, which made the last event more exciting. The removal of cages, which spawn across on the other side of the map when a player is stomped, was also a fun element, that could go either ways. You could use it, and run chases with it in mind. That is gone and now also favours killers. So, overall, the extra killer powers, one down, and the cage changes combined are just for me supporting more tunneling and more slugging, while slowing down the game, just so try hards can use a flashight in one way. In general, Killers are basically more OP and buffed this time than last. So why woudl that entice more survivor players? It seems to me the game mechanics have been changed to suit big streamers, campers and other try hards, who use exploits, and play to kill streak, not for fun. They didnt do so well at the last event, since it was about fun and actual skill, not having OP stuff. But here we are...
How do you feel about the event know? I feel like 2v8 seriously rewards survivors and Killers for playing at a high level. Killers cannot waste time in a chase around a safe tile. As a Huntress main, I downed 4 survivors within the first minute of the trial. Grouped up and decided to commit to the gen. They was punished by the deadliest snowball killer in the entire game. I have been pallet stunned once and blinded for a save once. As Killer, it's not that bad if you already main an A/S tier killer like Huntress or Blight. For the slugging, which you are right. Slugging with Huntress is just extremely optimal at times and can seriously generate a TON of pressure. But then again Survivors can finish gens extremely fast and have nearly have insta heal abilities. Also alert/OG Object of Obsession. If I don't guess right at the very beginning. Survivors can blow through 1 to 2 gens before I even see anybody. So it's also lucked based IMO, did you walk the right way?? Lol Can't say it's Killer or Survivor sided. I seen survivors obligate us Killers in less than 6 minutes. Also seen us Killer utterly destroy the opposition. Will say this. If Survivors can play at the Level that Huntress and Blight Mains can play. Survivors would never lose.
New Escapist class agility seems really stupid. I don't want to be exhausted because a survivor randomly decided to start running anywhere near me, which survivors do quite often. No idea who's idea it was to make teammates proc it, but it's a bad one.
I feel like deathslinger could lead to a lot of one-shot moments, no? If you just keep a survivor reeled, you can get the other killer to time it and insta down
0:30 the innate reason why Killer queue time is longer is because 2v8 allows killers to have a teammate, which completely changes from the normal game mode. For survivors, it doesn't change anything to have a bit more teammates that they already have in normal games.
giving survivors more classes and effects is a good step in the right direction. it actually makes playing survivor pretty engaging and different, with ultimates and such. hopefully this’ll get more people playing surv.
@@usedhalfcart Yeah with the following of the video I saw what they created and putting novelty gameplay for the survivors in this mode is what matters most.
@@kitanat9944 You can already do this I imagine. You could just reel the survivor in close enough and double tap them if you so choose. If you could apply expose with your spear then it would literally just be worse than hillbilly's expose so idk what you mean lol
@ True, I figured Deathslinger being implemented the way he will be wouldn’t be very fun generally. Blight and Nurse teaming up sounds absurd, but Deathslinger just seems boring with other killers.
Pick up animation for killers sounds terrible, one of the most fun things about playing killer was the fast paced action in 2v8 not having to also worry about 7 different survivors running around or hiding waiting for a pallet or a flashlight save was so much less stressful than normal killer matches
Yeah but they had to give survivors something to do other than gens. I know it sounds terrible cause 8 people could be waiting to flashlight save but that is 8 people not working on gens.
I feel that this will help a lot in some cases because you could end up having like 3 meg heads waiting for a save and get a bunch of free injuries/downs. Though I think this flashlight change whilst needed, will promote slugging more. This is especially true since I imagine this pickup thing will be slower than the old stomping you could do, so you might just want to slug anyway because it is simply better to do since caging is slower now and has risk.
taking away one of the core aspects of survivor gameplay in a mode that already encourages you to play killer more was already a nightmare for queue times, giving survivors more things to do besides chase and gens might help a bit. also you cant even bring items into the mode and whats the likelihood of like 4 survivors getting flashlights out of a chest
just dont worry about flashlight saves then. you have 7 other survivors to chase if you do get flashed. i seriously doubt this change will do anything except make survivors a little more useless
I want to iterate because a lot of people don't play Blight and don't understand him thoroughly. **Blight will not be even remotely as crazy as Nurse if implemented as the patch notes are**. Blight suffers significantly more from cool-down management compared to Nurse, and as such won't have as easy of a time keeping up unless he is given atleast like shredded notes equivalent for recharge speed. Due to the nature of 2v8 you will have to blow through a lot more health-states and pallets, along with traversing a larger map, costing you more recharge time. Nurse on the other hand? She recharges 50% of her power just from fatiguing (3 seconds per token, 2 total tokens, fatigue is just barely under 3 seconds base whilst a bit over for a missed/hit swing, averaging out around 3 seconds) , regardless of it's a hit or missed swing. Blight however, if he spends all 5 tokens available, he will have to fatigue for 2.5 seconds, then wait 10 seconds (2 seconds per token, 5 total tokens) before he can rush again. In regular DBD/1v4 this is fine as he was designed around it, but in 2v8 a you'd still be at a losing pace even if you hit virtually all of your rushes and traversed optimally unless your teammate is doing some heavy lifting. Also note that even if you don't need 5 tokens to get a hit, you are going to be forced to break a pallet either because it's a strong pallet or power vacuum sucked you into it. The main redeeming quality? He may be a tunneling demon and good for teamwork as the recharge issue can be solved by just only targeting injured survivors. However he is nowhere near Nurse levels of braindead (she got like 7 basekit addons and 2 bonus effects last time + basekit nowhere to hide and a sort of reverse predator) nor will he combo particularly well with her imo. Things could turn out different when the gamemode launches so I'll reserve any harsh opinions until I see it in action/try it for myself.
Blight biggest strenght is definitely gonna be doing a follow up right after your teammate gets a hit. Especially since your teammate is basically a remote bump wall
@samuellinn He'll definitely be a more strategy/teamwork based killer, which I am a fan of, He'll also be good at going ahead and caging for the other killer since he gets around on a whim. Main point I want to drive home honestly is Nurse should be giga nerfed meanwhile I think Blight deserves the shredded notes addon to help his cooldown after breaking a pallet or actually hitting a healthy survivor.

Ok hot take: can we get the gen speed buff/debuff change in base game? Obviously with some tweaks but still. Tinfoil hat: maybe they are testing it in 2v8 before bringing it to base game
Wait wait wait.... The patch notes I read from their forums are different. I think they updated it at some point. For example gen repair speeds are different by a large amount. +2.5% per cagestate and -5.0% per gen completed with is a deal. Example 4/8 gens completed = -20% 12/24 cages states = +30%. +30% + -20% = +10%. That is a huge boon for the survivors, especially when factor the fact survivors in already have spend less time on gens compared to 1v4.
Glad they're making it so the cage doesn't teleport away when a survivor is near. The amount of times I died because I got teleported away from nearby survivors was horrible
Step in the right direction with the pickups, but having them insta-teleport after pickup still removes a TON of hectic plays (which don't get me wrong, will still result in 90 percent failure, but add to more fun). They should just keep the hook mechanic and either spawn more hooks, or have longer carry durations (i'm in favor of the second option). As an example, sometimes you can hide a flashbang-drop when you bodyblock and get hit. I would rush to the hook they were walking to, to do this, therefore getting the save.
Only thing im worried about is eventually getting bored of 2v8 because i cant play killer without going through half a Podcast, trying to pick a killer for 1v4, and hitting the 40 minute que time instead of the 30 minute it'd take for 2v8. All these changes seem great and the mode seems just as fun as before, but man is it gonna make every killer who isnt in 2v8 suddenly see their pickrates dropped to 0% cause nobody is gonna be on 1v4
I could see 3-4 guides all working together to rush down generators being pretty oppressive, but the built in discordance should be able to handle that. Edit: Called it. Scot literally made a video about exactly this.
Imagine 8 survivors with guide standing all on 1 gen (4 working on it and the other 4 sitting there), when they finish the gen, each person on the gen gains 35% instant progress on the next gen they touch, which means if all players go together to the next gen, they can pop it instantly and move to the next one, rinse and repeat. I wonder how long it'd take to finish all gens like this.
Hopefully Scott notices, but the gen repair speed catchup mechanic is actually +5% per gen and -2.5% per hook! They fixed this later I think Personally, I don't really want the catchup mechanic

The patch notes on steam state gens are reduced by 5% for each gen done and repair speeds increased by 2.5% for each cage state. Which my more impactful then whats written here.
What do you guys think? Which killers are going to show up in the next 2v8 after this one? I personally would love to have doctor and clown in this mode
i would argue that sticking together on the killer side actually IS the optimal way to play this game mode. there is just wayyyy too many pallets in this game mode, to the point that if you chase a really good survivor the team is gonna finish multiple gens while you chase them. sticking together lets you immediately end chases as soon as they start and quickly move onto the next survivor. this was just my personal experience last time the game mode was out i’m not sure if anyone agrees
i would always be so frustrated if my killer teammate hovered around me and my chases. sure it ended chases a lot faster, but it also meant NO ONE was pressuring survivors off gens. it also meant one less survivor being chased. its more efficient to have two survivors off gens, and in chase, than it is to have one survivor being chased by two killers. in the same way that grouping on gens makes that one gen go faster, but overall slowed the game down a lot by having less gens progressed overall.
@ that’s how it was for me at first i agree, but my friend and i kept getting 8ks and our matches suddenly got SIGNIFICANTLY harder with 8 man escapes and the only thing that started working was sticking together. if either of us would chase 1 survivor alone they’d finish like 3-4 gens during the chase it was brutal. the game mode is def survivor sided
I know they can't if we don't want to wait 5 years for 2v8 but i wish they would just code all the killers to be used in 2v8 I know i know, they're only adding a few to weed out the various bugs that pop up.
So weird how they've created a game mode that is so much better than their original game. Can't help thinking this should be it's own game and we should have had to pay up for it. I'm not complaining. All these changes sound awesome.
survivors can pick themselves up when their ultimate ability is charged up and they don't mention the cooldown of their ultimate ability.... free unlimited unbreakable with no downside.
@@dodang_9147 Sure, if the ability has an actual cooldown and not something you build up through other actions. The latter would be way less effective.
All killers automatically have their Terror Radius set to the default version in 2v8. The Terror Radius layers prioritizes which killer is closer. If a Survivor is in chase, it will prioritize the chase music over the Terror Radius.
None of these changes however change the fact that doing generators is what makes survivor so incredibly boring in 2v8. They need to give survivors a new objective for the gamemode, otherwise que times will continue to be horrendous no matter what.
im thinking the only reason offerings arent enabled is because most of them will be useless, hook spawn, survivor spawn, luck, mist and map offerings are all useless in this mode. still wish they enabled BP

Lol
Can't say it's Killer or Survivor sided. I seen survivors obligate us Killers in less than 6 minutes. Also seen us Killer utterly destroy the opposition.
Will say this. If Survivors can play at the Level that Huntress and Blight Mains can play. Survivors would never lose.
15:03 "Kick windows, by the way." Thanks for the laugh, Scott!
Not sure if you've seen but for the gens, it's now 5% per gen completed and 2.5% per hook.
New Escapist class agility seems really stupid. I don't want to be exhausted because a survivor randomly decided to start running anywhere near me, which survivors do quite often. No idea who's idea it was to make teammates proc it, but it's a bad one.
So this is super bully simulator. I predict the que times are gonna be 100% worse then last time
I feel like deathslinger could lead to a lot of one-shot moments, no? If you just keep a survivor reeled, you can get the other killer to time it and insta down
@@endoxos5402 even easier if ur teammate is a Billy. Can't wait
yeah but that requires two killers to chase the same guy, which is effective but really not efficient at all
0:30 the innate reason why Killer queue time is longer is because 2v8 allows killers to have a teammate, which completely changes from the normal game mode.
For survivors, it doesn't change anything to have a bit more teammates that they already have in normal games.
giving survivors more classes and effects is a good step in the right direction. it actually makes playing survivor pretty engaging and different, with ultimates and such. hopefully this’ll get more people playing surv.
@@usedhalfcart Yeah with the following of the video I saw what they created and putting novelty gameplay for the survivors in this mode is what matters most.
i wonder if blight's rush collision is tied to killer collision, because he might be able to bounce off of a phasing spirit
They've said in the patch notes that blight can bounce off of the other killer, and spirit loses collision with the other killer while she's phasing
spirit has no collision while phasing at best blight could bounce off the husk
When they get hooked and saved they are stuck running around in the carry animation. Happened a lot during the event that’s had stomping
All these changes looks great, but they don't matter because this mode is still lacking the best stuff: LICENCED KILLERS.
We need Freddy and Michael!
Nemesis and Wesker for the ultimate Resident Evil boss battle.
Springtrap and Chucky in the same match
I remember being extremely tired of trapper by the end of 2v8
And huntress.
Even more of huntress
Why? Trapper was fine, and was one of the weaker killers.
You look great Scott
Thanks
thanks bro
Ty my dude
Appreciate it
I was hoping that survivors speared by slinger would be instadownable by slingers teammate
That sounds so balanced and fun
They are, if slingers teammate is billy. Or you can probably still double tap with huntress if you have good coordination
@@kitanat9944 Naw, DeathSlinger + Huntress. Double range killer. Very fun
killers being blight and spirit immediately killed my mood for that mode ngl, but the changes are pretty decent.
those kinda have a skill cap, soo i think most killers playng it gonna be hella bad specially with no mmr
You're not gonna go against some comp Korean pro players in this mode, so chill.
When there’s 8 survivors it’s completely reasonable to add S or A tier killers
Don't worry, you wont get a comp blight with 4 gen slowdown I promise.
@@HeSpeaksFluentJapanese you sure about that?

Scout is definitely the strongest of the survivor classes now. Being able to repair destroyed pallets is a crazy good ability.
can't wait for the 8hr Patrick and Scoot 2v8 streams again
Ok hot take: can we get the gen speed buff/debuff change in base game? Obviously with some tweaks but still.
Tinfoil hat: maybe they are testing it in 2v8 before bringing it to base game
I'll actually be around for the mode this time. Hope I have some fun with it.
That is a huge boon for the survivors, especially when factor the fact survivors in already have spend less time on gens compared to 1v4.
congrats on 200k scott🎉
Glad they're making it so the cage doesn't teleport away when a survivor is near. The amount of times I died because I got teleported away from nearby survivors was horrible
The website now says gens are 5% slower when a gen is completed, and 2.5% faster for each caged survivor.
When they add Chucky to the next iteration and hidey ho cool down gets reduced to 6 seconds for no obvious reason
1;17 i had this issue in original 2v8 the game considered me hooked but i could run around and not be able to be hit or leave exit gates
I think I’m one of the rare people who only played survivor on 2v8 I loved its gameplay except the no flashy saves so I’m happy
They should also make it so the guides ultimate 10 second timer is paused until you start working on a gen
Being chased by Chucky and Victor would be hilarious!!!
Hopefully Scott notices, but the gen repair speed catchup mechanic is actually +5% per gen and -2.5% per hook! They fixed this later I think
Personally, I don't really want the catchup mechanic
HELP
I randomly get "Cannot connect to RTM server."
So sometimes i can't play, sometimes i can.
Yes, my date/time is correct.
I un-installed then re-installed several times.
Reset my ps5, reset my internet modem several times.
Restored License several times as well.
I cant wait for the 7 man flashlight save
1:20 describing client-server validation going wrong in a nutshell. Even the creator of Lethal Company has proper validation on picking up items so both players can't hold the same item. It's still something I don't fully understand yet, netcode is hard.
8:44 Enforcer's info perk isn't exactly the same as Brute's. Brute gives +8m range while Enforcer gives +4s duration
I can't wait to be on the receiving end of the Blight-bouncing-off-the-Nurse-who-then-also-hits-you wombo combo in some DBD TH-camr's clip compilation.
Quantum Survivor Paradoxids existing in DBD will just make the game self-implode and it will be very funny
thank goodness they nerfed Huntress' stupid hatchet spam.
With deathslinger can’t you still 2 tap the survivors if you wait until the last second and time the hits?
What constitutes nearby for the unhook speed boost? Wish they gave us specifics for that.
I want to see blight bounce off nurse charging a blink who then blinks ahead to where the blight is rushing in an otherwise empty area for blight to bounce off of to then hit a teabagging nea
I hope the dev allow legion and oni at some point ,it seem quite fun in my mind
Didn't realise this shizzle is dropping tomorrow
Yippyy🎉
I think they should do Remote Hooks. Let Survivors get saves while also saving a lot of time for Killers
The patch notes on steam state gens are reduced by 5% for each gen done and repair speeds increased by 2.5% for each cage state. Which my more impactful then whats written here.
Time to reinstall for two weeks, while completely ignoring the community solely due to toxicity
The repair speed numbers have been changed since this video
scott not knowing about visionary says a lot about the perk. buff it! 12:50
What do you guys think? Which killers are going to show up in the next 2v8 after this one? I personally would love to have doctor and clown in this mode
This round of 2v8 is going to be way more killer sided. I can't wait to run against a bunch of extra fast flights spirits and nurses.
Ok the class ults for survivor are pretty good. It will probably still be survivor sided. As it should be.
Im so hype for this mode to come back
am i the only one who loves survivor during 2v8? Having scout makes chases so easy
i would argue that sticking together on the killer side actually IS the optimal way to play this game mode. there is just wayyyy too many pallets in this game mode, to the point that if you chase a really good survivor the team is gonna finish multiple gens while you chase them. sticking together lets you immediately end chases as soon as they start and quickly move onto the next survivor. this was just my personal experience last time the game mode was out i’m not sure if anyone agrees
i would always be so frustrated if my killer teammate hovered around me and my chases. sure it ended chases a lot faster, but it also meant NO ONE was pressuring survivors off gens. it also meant one less survivor being chased.
its more efficient to have two survivors off gens, and in chase, than it is to have one survivor being chased by two killers.
in the same way that grouping on gens makes that one gen go faster, but overall slowed the game down a lot by having less gens progressed overall.
I know they can't if we don't want to wait 5 years for 2v8 but i wish they would just code all the killers to be used in 2v8
I know i know, they're only adding a few to weed out the various bugs that pop up.
2 medics running around like ww2 battle buddy medics just healing everyone and getting out of there
So weird how they've created a game mode that is so much better than their original game. Can't help thinking this should be it's own game and we should have had to pay up for it. I'm not complaining. All these changes sound awesome.
so glad I can now go up against blight and nurse at the same time lmao
I mean tbf double taps with deathslinger happening fs anyways
No changes to discourage slugging? Guess we will see a increase in slugging with that billy buff
survivors can pick themselves up when their ultimate ability is charged up and they don't mention the cooldown of their ultimate ability.... free unlimited unbreakable with no downside.
@@dodang_9147 Sure, if the ability has an actual cooldown and not something you build up through other actions. The latter would be way less effective.
Feels like all these powers encouraging your teammate to be close will be awful for the double tap on the same Survivor.
Do the spirit buffs only apply to 2v8 or is it a general buff?
all changes you see here are exclusively for 2v8 since you cant use addons
I wasn’t here for the first 2v8: how does terror radius music and chase music work? What if both killers are nearby?
All killers automatically have their Terror Radius set to the default version in 2v8. The Terror Radius layers prioritizes which killer is closer. If a Survivor is in chase, it will prioritize the chase music over the Terror Radius.
You can enjoy Frank's mixtape with a featuring for Ana the huntress lullaby. 🎶
@@tristanhotaling Appreciate it
None of these changes however change the fact that doing generators is what makes survivor so incredibly boring in 2v8. They need to give survivors a new objective for the gamemode, otherwise que times will continue to be horrendous no matter what.
12:50 I think Scott forgot visionary is a perk that exists
everyone did
11:50 not just shack pallet, imagine rebuilding a pallet right before a pickup then pallet saving lol
What would fix the queue times amd make almost all players play 2v8 is the possibility to use our god damn BP offerings, but I doubt this is happening
im thinking the only reason offerings arent enabled is because most of them will be useless, hook spawn, survivor spawn, luck, mist and map offerings are all useless in this mode.
still wish they enabled BP
Now that you need to be picked up does anyone know if you can pallet save?
I think based on the killers they are adding. I think killer ques are somehow going to be worse this time around since Blight, spirit, and slinger all seem pretty not fun to play against.
