It's important that even the pretense of it is entirely gone. The ideal that no one was above the law was imprinted on our American self-identity, even if not in fact. Despite the sheer openness of Trump flouting the law, politicians and the media were either gleefully cheering him on or afraid to stand up to him. The American public made a conscious choice to side with wealth and power. Where in the past the system was rigged against the common man, we could all agree at least in principle that it shouldn't be. That's no longer the case and clever people will exploit that sentiment to the extreme before (or even if!) voters wake up to what's happened. By then, as Devin said, it will take decades to get back to baseline.

You were a fetus once, so why take the chance of life you had away from innocent kids? You realize that child birth related deaths are less common than they used to be right? In fact, because of c sections, most women can survive nowadays. There's even a study claiming women are getting smaller down there because of the introduction of c sections, which is also an issue cause later down the line, women will have no choice but to have c sections. And before you say the c section is a form of abortion, go back to school. Abortion is straight up murder of an innocent life, c sections are to help both parties in the birthing situation. If you see videos of how abortion actually works, you'll be surprised if how inhumane it actually is

A lot of people like to pretend people not voting is them being lazy and not state's making voting so difficult is wasn't worth the hassle or just too difficult. Then throw in the fact that it is super easy to get a felony and have your rights taken away. Biden won the 2020 election and 37 states passed laws making it even harder to vote all while Trump and the Republican party continued to bend and break every law and rule they could to make sure Democrats would never win again. That needs to be taken into account when speaking on people not voting.

@hamisyummers8664 Most policies need to be based on a philosophy, and therefore are bordering on many religious ideas already. It's impossible not to have religious overtones to law, (either theist or secular humanist) because our worldview shapes our metaphysical view of morality.
Yet the pope is not governing, nor is the protestant church, nor any other governing church body. Rather certain values are being brought forth from a Christian worldview and enshrined into law. This is not a church telling you you must believe in Jesus, but a simple moral rule, no different than the laws against manslaughter and murder.
I'm not condoning anything in project 2025, I still dont really understand what it is yet, but it seems to me that a church needs to be in government for it to be a fusing of church and state. I believe most of the founding Father's wrote the constitution entirely from a theistic worldview, making it seem like they defined church and state differently than we do today.

I love when people bring this up, but they have no understanding of the history or meaning of the phrase. Can you tell me what part of the Constitution includes the phrase 'separation of church and state', or any variant thereof? Go on, I'll wait.
While I'm waiting, I'll proceed by enlightening you on what that phrase *actually* means. It's a warning against the government interfering in the affairs of the church (using that in the broad sense, not in regards to a particular denomination), not the other way around. No, we do not have state sponsored/run churches - though many colonies did have them prior to the ratification of the Constitution, and even for many decades after - but that doesn't mean the church has no say in the affairs of government.
Just a little history lesson for you. Oh, and if you haven't figured it out by now, that phrase exists absolutely nowhere in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration or Independence, or any other founding document. It was penned in a letter by Thomas Jefferson, and he was talking about protecting churches from the government, not the other way around.

Yes, the economy is doing well...but we don't really measure how our economy is doing by how the average person is doing, not anymore. The main thing that drives that statement is investment and employment rates.
But the average person is seeing reductions in their rights as "labor," income growth is being FAR outstripped by inflation, the poorest are struggling harder and the wealthy saw massive growth to their wealth.
If you're billionaire, the economy is awesome; if you work for a living the economy is crushing you.
Not that I think Trump will, or even can, fix it. Just that when politicians and pundits talk about "The Economy," they aren't really talking about the same thing we are.

Problem is, most of the people who are targeted by Trump's stated goals are people who would find it difficult to impossible to legally emigrate - people with disabilities, for example, are hugely roadblocked or disqualified from emigrating to most countries (especially ones with the infrastructure to actually see that they get the care they need), especially because having a serious disability makes it much more difficult to have a qualification for a desired skill. Even if you have a desired skill, it's possible that you'll be knocked back on the basis of your disability or the disability of a family member who would be coming with you. This is also true for people with 'pre-existing medical conditions' that require medical intervention, medicinal or otherwise.

Sorry for rambling here, but I wanted to share my thoughts on this - keep in mind that I'm Canadian.
The best way I can describe what's happening, at least from my perspective, is that the US has turned into a Wonderland, (straight from Alice and Wonderland, because it's so bizarre,) for Trump supporters. My hypothesis is that, much like Alice, a whole bunch of them are going to eventually come to the realization that it is NOT, in fact, everything they ever wanted.
Now, because I ALSO beleive that everyone, no matter how mistaken their beliefs, no matter how deep down it is, has the capability to be a good person with empathy. Which, yes, I recognize is very naive, but that's why I beleive that people, good people, with kindness and empathy for their neighbor, no matter their differences, will be the life rafts that people hold on to in the crisis that will inevitably happen. Now, it's very easy for me to think that way, because as I said, I'm Canadian, so I won't be experiencing this firsthand. But even if all I can do is love and support my friends most affected by this, I'll do that for as long as this takes.

Don't just expect people with pre-existing conditions to pay more, but also to die because they can't afford it or are considered "uninsurable".
I had end-stage kidney disease at 14 that the doctors think was caused by a genetic issue that causes the kidneys to start shutting down from birth. So more like "have always existed with" as opposed to pre-existing. I thankfully have insurance through work and have had a transplant, but that's no guarantee. Losing the ACA terrifies me.

    • @paulkerrigan9857
      @paulkerrigan9857 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

That was the entire point of the ACA. The mandate for everyone to have insurance meant that the costs of pre-existing conditions and otherwise-uninsurable patients could be offset by the premiums of everyone else. Now that there's no longer a mandate, and with Trump gunning for it, it seems like the ACA will assuredly vanish.
