Can you even imagine how genuinely amazing the game and campaign would have been if the games nowadays weren't centered around Warzone ?
Operator Skin this, Warzone Cinematic that. Hey remember the campaign? Who freaking cares about that anymore right? Throw in a bit of creativity, make it all a prologue about Warzone and do it again next year.

23:50 In regard to Felix, I actually played through the section as him without killing anyone because I didn’t know you could until I saw your play-through. Going through the mission I walked up behind a dude, saw no prompt, then got caught and killed. Then I went “Oh, he’s a pacifist, I can’t kill as him. That’s pretty neat.” It was a little bit of a pain when it came to hacking the computer for the key card and then the alarm going off, but I did it. (with a nice hint- hint- nudge- nudge- about David/Section saving the world from the drone attacks)
Its, so small, but imo it really goes to show just how much Mason means to woods and allows for them to really smoothly reference the main character of BO2 while also building out woods character with his worries of being a father and grieving the loss of not only his best friend but also his own life in a way.

They shouldn’t have made Harrow a Pantheon agent.
Not only because she was not set up well enough to be a twist villain, not only because the twist itself seemed pretty out of character (ik that the whole shtick with spies is that they can fake it really well, but it just didn’t work narratively compared to other double agents like Salazar) but they missed a HUGE opportunity.
Imagine having a mission where you play as Harrow sneaking around the CIA HQ in order to gather intel for Marshall’s team, just like with Belikov sneaking in the Lubyanka Building in Cold War. That way not only would the game have more opportunity to flesh out Harrow herself, but also flesh out Livingstone AND Jackson Caine as characters, ESPECIALLY Caine. That way the reveal of Caine at the very end would be less “wtf is that” to “oh shit it was HIM”.

As for Case, they should not have made him mute like Bell, because his backstory really warrants Case to have a voice.
He was experimented on and tortured by The Pantheon for their Cradle experiment. Unlike Bell, who is a brainwashed agent from Perseus and has some lingering loyalty to them, Case DESPISES Pantheon.
Like he gets triggered like a “woke” liberal whenever anyone mentions Pantheon or The Cradle to him. The way he brutally executes Pantheon elites (bashing a juggernaut’s head in, snapping necks of Pantheon agents, etc) and the way he was willing to throw Gusev into the jet engine.
The fact that MANY players didn’t get that from Case in their playthroughs, assuming he is either a brainwashed Pantheon agent or Bell or Mason, means that they did not convey Case as a character successfully.

I like them from a gameplay perspective. Having a variety of enemies with a bunch of health, or a scary gun, or a special move that disables you adds a strategic element of target prioritisation to the combat loop. You can balance the pros and cons of taking out a bunch of weaker enemies before or after focusing on the big guy. It's kind of like choosing between shooting the grunts or the elites in Halo or choosing when to get damage on a big demon in Doom Eternal. I find it a more engaging way of increasing the level of challenge over never ending spawns and grenade spam like they did in Call of Duty 4-5.

In the dessert open world mission, I expected the real Delta Force squad to be an obstacle you had to avoid, but instead, you helped them out, and there's no consequences
In the science lab mission, I was also expecting all of the zombies to be real people. It would've been really interesting to see how the crew reacted to Case slaughtering an entire facility. The voice in your head should've stayed around for the rest of the game instead of this mission and the hideout segment after.

I don't really have any evidence to back this up but i think the reason they got together both the MW and BO universes together into one is because the end of the Aether story in BO4 Zombies actually makes it so that the whole universe is sent to the Dark Aether except for one dimension, which is where Samantha and Eddie (characters from BO Zombies) end up after the ending, being the dimension they are in on BO Cold War Zombies and BO6 Zombies, so i like to imagine the reason they are joining both MW and BO into one timeline is because of Zombies, which is insane to me.

I think its a combination of that and Warzone. Black Ops 4 showed that there were still a ton of people that would buy just to play Zombies, and the inclusion of Blackout was almost like testing the waters to see if they could have their own Fortnite given the expansive universe they've built. I think the MW reboots were just the franchise's way of having an excuse to reuse characters so they could justify having them in Warzone because it's their money-making baby. Same for Zombies. Like why would we need Brutus (who is a zombie) and Klaus (who is a robot) as Operators, except to pander to Zombies fans as if we were puppies.

honestly, i thought that the only reason why the new MW timeline just got incorporated into the BO timeline was exclusively bc of warzone, the way cold war got both made and was integrated just stenches of "activision told treyarch to make it like warzone so they could make more money", with activision NOT getting the memo that treyarch intended to continue the black ops timeline, but by the time the call was made, it was too late to change the campaign, essentially forcing the BO and MW timelines together by accident.

Basically Case is one of the few times in the series where we see the CIA's evil shenanigans work in the end
I also actually like Felix's full character arc. At the end of the game he seems to realize that violence is not something purely used for oppression like he says in one of the earlier conversations but rather that it can also be a equalizer used to protect those that should not have harm done to them. It also brings his comment about your operation being a "Necessary Evil" full circle where he doesn't enjoy violence but finds it necessary to use it against people who would use violence on people who do not deserve it

Fun fact: You can actually successfully sneak through Felix's section in High Rollers without killing anyone. This way, when he actually kills the one guard at the vault it feels more impactful instead of "Guard kill number 5" in the mission. I was quite proud in doing that and I am sad that the game had no achievement for it.
That said, I enjoyed playing Black Ops 6 overall. I do feel like they dropped the ball at several points where it could've been better, but I at least had fun with it. I really wish Harrow's missions at the same end choice that Black Ops 5 had where you could choose to side with the characters you know or with the enemy (Pantheon) that you've been seeking to stop. They had a good thing going here, and I really do feel like they missed a few marks. Loved the mission in Kentucky with the zombies and the Cradle, wish we had more background on the Voice.
Hope the next Call of Duty will be better, I really do. They're fun to play when they take the time to craft their campaigns, and I never touched Black Ops 4 because it lacked a campaign.

Not sure if Bricky will see this comment, but I wanted to share.
There is this theory roaming around that Case and Bell are the same person. The theory is based on the timeline, with Adler beginning to work as part of the research facility that case was experimented on. BO6 takes place in 1991, and it says that Case was experimented on 10 years ago. This lines up with the same year that Adler joined the facility, 1981. Cold War also conveniently ends canonically around the same time.
The theory is that after the events of Cold War, Adler takes Bell to the facility and the ending cutscene where he kills Bell is not a physical killing, but rather an implanted memory so that the consciousness of Bell can be "Killed off" and William "Case" Calderon can become his brand new identity.
There is also a detail that is hard to notice, but every time The Cradle or Pantheon is name dropped, Case has a momentary visual reaction. This happens one time outside of those instances, specifically when Adler orders Case to dispose of Dr. Gusev. It could be a hint at the trigger that Bell used to have whenever Adler gave him his order phrase.

    • @countbellalublowsi4702

I just think that Adler was involved in Cradle, probably brainwashing or setting up the brainwashing of Case, and that Bell is the clue that he is used to this, same with having the injection for Harrow. I thought the Mannequins looked a bit like Adler and in Harrow's one at one of the security gates when you turn round the mannequin has his hand up like he's smoking. Could all be coincidence, a clue, or a false lead.

Honestly that idea that You play as Mason and a group of CIA blacklisters being hunted by Adler and the CIA would be an amazing way to making Old man Mason at the end of Black ops 2 work.
He’s been on the run and he’s finally able to come home when he kills Adler. What better way to finally give Adler his Just desserts than having the OG protagonist be the one to do it.
I also feel that would need to be the game Sam worthington comes back for (Gary old man too for Reznov flashbacks)
The game could be called, Call of duty Blacklist.
Also the Warzone stuff wouldn’t bother me if they simply said from the get go Warzone isn’t canon to the campaign Narratives having PVP game modes being major components in single player narratives has NEVER and WILL NEVER WORK.

    • @VMonkies

Mason's dead though, the canonical ending to BO2 is that Woods fell for the trick in Panama and shot him in the head. It is something Woods directly mentions to you in one of the safehouse conversations if you take the time to actually talk to him rather than rushing through to get to more shooting missions. Also, him and Adler being enemies makes zero sense because Adler, Woods, and Mason were all on the same CIA team in Cold War.
Also Sam Worthington is a grade-A garbage actor and the less roles he gets is a boon for the rest of the world.

    • @blankblanny
      @blankblanny หลายเดือนก่อน +7

@@VMonkies That's the thing, though. How would Woods know? In BO2, if you chose to shoot Mason in the leg, Woods is still under the impression that he killed Mason in that moment until the very end of the game when Mason shows up alive and well. That last mission takes place in 2025; Woods in BO6 would be under the impression that Mason died in Panama whether he survived or not. He's an unreliable narrator.
Now, Treyarch *has* gone on record saying that Mason's death was the canon outcome in promotional material for BO6, and that holds much more weight. But there's plenty of room for them to retcon that, like they've done for half of the characters that died (thank you, operator system/Warzone).
EDIT: Went to double check the safehouse conversation to make sure, and Woods never describes Mason being shot in the head, specifically. Just that Mason is dead because of him getting tricked in Panama, which he obviously thinks at this point in the timeline regardless of whether Mason is actually dead or not. No confirmation about where he shot Mason means no in-game confirmation about Mason's fate.

I played through that campaign multiple times when I was young and of course did the best possible ending choices at one point. Now I realized though… like Woods isn’t a bad shot. He would have killed Mason… damn that’s fucking me up. Of course it’s also possible Mason actually is still alive and just hasn’t had the reveal yet which doesn’t happen till end of the BO2 timeline. at the very least, canonically Menendez does die according to the BO3 story as it directly mentions riots that happen after his death. Whether that means David Mason kills Menendez or if he does it himself (if you fail to save Karma in time for the mission on The USS Obama, then in the endings Menendez ends up breaking out of prison, kills Woods then himself) isn't determined for certain.
Kinda unrelated to your above comment when it comes to Mason, but it's related to the endings in general and it came to mind so I'm bringing it up anyways.

We also have to keep in mind that even though it ties directly into the past games, this IS a part of the rebooted timeline, meaning they could still do some stuff and bring Mason back into the story somehow. Firstly, what the writers of modern Call of Duty say doesn't mean shit for what the original intentions were. Things are already being retconned to tie this into the rebooted MW series and honestly their work has always been sub-par anyway. Secondly, the idea is that the information you can optionally obtain throughout the flashback missions is what tips Woods off about being set up before he takes the shot, hence why you hear Krevchenko's line about a mole in the CIA whilst aiming if you got him to say that before he died. If Wood's is unsettled by the situation he's more likely to aim poorly, and if he's outright suspicious of the situation it makes sense that he wouldn't shoot for the head without confirming the target's identity. Black Ops 3 intentionally left the ending ambiguous with very few references to Black Ops 2 that only imply Menendez was killed at the end.

something like after escaping the lab he rebuilt Pantheon after Livingstone disbanded it. he then killed Harrow's parents (his model has a black mask similar to the murderers, you can see him in third person in the Iraq mission and a few other places), indoctrinated her, used Cradle to mind control her into thinking it was Adler then joined Wood's team to finalise the mission to destroy the CIA. He would function as a sleeper agent before being woken up by the voice in his head near the end.
but no... his backstory was nothing else, emergence was it, despite the fact it seemed to be a massive set up. the voice in his head was nothing special even when it took control of him and made it so that he couldn't tell Woods the truth about Pantheon. horrible use of a really good character.

On the subject of every recent CoD game’s story having to connect to Warzone, the only time I ever enjoyed the concept was during Black Ops Cold War because instead of carrying forward with the campaign story, it tried telling a new story with characters from the campaign woven into it, with Adler at the center having been brainwashed himself by a member of the Perseus organization. The seasonal story beats involved Adler trying to track this Perseus agent down to get payback for brainwashing him. Cold War let it’s story end and used a form of almost trans-media storytelling to expand on its characters and develop its ideas put forward in the campaign even further.
