OUR BRONCO SAYS GOODBYE TO THE FACTORY KICK PANEL SPEAKERS

  • WE SAY GOODBYE TO FACTORY KICK PANEL SPEAKERS!
    The stock 6.5” speakers on the Bronco Big Bend sound ok, but what if they could be…I don’t know…BETTER? Well, we decided to switch them out too with ones that have tweeters in the middle of them, so we will soon find out if swapping out stock with new actually made a noticeable difference.
    Like all our Bronco upgrades, this does not come without some sort of modification. We had to get a boom mat cover for it to help contain the air & sound, so it shoved it out forward rather than into the empty space within the side panel of the front of the vehicle.
    This was and wasn’t the easiest install. Getting it out was no problem. Getting the new speaker settled into its new home was a pain. At least for me it was. Shawn is used to working on these things whereas I am not. I had a difficult time where Shawn had to take over from time to time to get the job done. Thank you dear! :D
    The kind of speakers we got are Pioneer TS-G1620F 6-1/2" 2-Way Coaxial Speakers. The link is down below of where we got the speakers, as well as the other items. 😊
    After installation, we tested the speakers out to a song with lot of base and treble, and WHAT a DIFFERENCE! It sounds a lot better. Changing out the cheapo speakers with better quality speakers, really help change the way the music sounds. Speakers are like vacuums and kitchen knives - you get what you pay for. The cheap stuff isn’t always the best. Pay a bit more and you get better quality items.
    Thank you again for watching! As always, please like, share, subscribe, hit the bell, and drop a comment down below.
    Let us know what you think of your stock speakers in your bronco. Now do realize, each trim level will have different speakers. This was a cheap “base” of its trim level - which technically is the 2nd up from the Base, itself. I would expect cheap products in a cheap vehicle.
    The Badlands we will be getting will have a higher quality speaker system (we suspect) for it is fully loaded and maxed out on options. It shouldn’t sound like a tin can.
    Oh, and Jill is doing TH-cam full time now as a job (no joke) - we ask that you please watch all the way through, share the video, for we get paid a small amount per viewing.

    Just changed out my 2 dash and 2 kick panel speakers to Hertz. Wow what a difference! Have a pair to change out rear. Found wiring harness online so I don't cut wires too short. Thanks for keeping the videos so simple even I could do it. Perfect instructions on kick panel access. Great Job!

    I recently encountered a serious issue while upgrading the speakers on my Ford Bronco with the standard sound system, and I want to share a warning with the community. If you plan on using the METRA 72-5603 connectors for the dash and rear pod speakers, please be aware that the cables may be inverted.
    During my installation today (May 1, 2023), I noticed that the positive cable was aligned with the negative cable, causing some confusion. To clarify, I reached out to Crutchfield support with photos, and they confirmed that the connectors may be inverted. I suggest double-checking your connectors before proceeding with your installation to avoid any potential issues.
    Thank you for your attention and I hope this information can help others avoid this problem.

    Thanks for the video :) It helped me today when i changed my 6.5 Kick panel speakers. I got the Kicker ones instead of Pioneer. The sound clarity improvement is amazing - BUT the decrease in the amount of bass is also VERY obvious. I'm hoping that after they break-in a little the woofers will produce more bass. I also had replaced all the 4-inch speakers with Focals. Basically now any song that is 80% or more vocals, sounds amazing. Great soundstage. But now I do need to fill the void of the lower frequencies and install a subwoofer.....Oh well :) More mods Mo' problems!!! - BTW, how do your 1200 HZ bass blockers sound? I originally did 300HZ ones, but swapped them out for 600HZ ones and now they sound great and the mid-range doesn't sound "muddy" at higher volumes. Very balanced (minus the bass....grrrr). Maybe WHEN I add a sub soon, I can try the 1200s.

    I replaced all 4 of the 4" last week, today I got the 6.5" in the mail and started the install, but I need to extend the wires so I have to pick up some wire before I can continue. I didn't realize the plug was outside and not inside the enclosure.

    I'm new to all this but your video has given me the boost to do this on my own. So thank you! Question: what's the baffle for? I've read leaving the baffle enclosed can make the bass not sound right, and so some people will cut out the back and bottom so the sound has the full area to resonate. What was your reasoning?

    • @1Five1Garage
      @1Five1Garage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It eliminates some of the echoing from the panels.

    Why couldn’t they install speakers in the doors as you have electrical disconnects for the power windows?? Some buyers may never take the Doors off.

    • @1Five1Garage
      @1Five1Garage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you removed the doors the speakers would be gone. No more sound in the front other then the 4” dash.

    • @keithfitterer6899
      @keithfitterer6899 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well if you’re off road, you’re not worried about great sound as you still have the stock speakers.

  • @thesilverballpodcast

    Just a note about kick panel speakers - having a tweeter in that location is almost undetectable. High frequency sound is very directional and as frequencies decrease, the directional characteristics also fade. Thus - a sub can be heard from any location in the vehicle (or in your home theater room), yet tweeters are pointed directly at the listener, toward their heads if possible. So if you are wanting to upgrade to add higher freqs in the kick only, I would skip it. If you are wanting to 'beef it up' a notch - go for it.

    I have a question for you? I ordered a black Diamond and it is on the way to me in SC by rail. I stopped by the dealership yo get the final numbers for my credit union. They are hitting me with a $1900 ordering fee. I called a different dealership in my area and they have no ordering fee, can I transfer my order to that dealership. When I ordered it. I WAS NEVER about a ordering fee. Thanks

    • @1Five1Garage
      @1Five1Garage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unfortunately no. It is too late to transfer if it is on its way to you. It’s like changing your Amazon package final delivery while it is on the way to you.
