      Nope, I actually have them all the way down and just let the DSP run itself. The next thing I've seen is to activate the rear speakers using Forscan. Ford from factory basically nerf'd them so they're barely playing any range of audio. I have a couple of things I want to play around with in Forscan, but I have a mac. I'll figure it out and make a video soon!

    So , my dad was into High Fidelity 70 years ago, I learned a lot from the old man, rest his soul. So one of the largest problems and this has to do with almost every car manufacturer. They use low s/n ratio speakers. Typically what this can do is at higher wattage / volume, it will slightly over extrude the cones on the speakers which is that pop sound you hear cause the cone has reached its limit outward or inward as far as travel. Now there is a couple ways to combat this. One is buy higher s/n ratio speakers that can handle more wattage with less excursion. The other is to port the box the speaker is in, to the right size so your cone has an easier and less pressure to reach those levels which will reduce the pop. Typically speaker replacement is the best option without any modification of the cabinet but that speaker may also pop if it does not have enough air volume to move and typically higher s/n ratio speakers need more air inside the cabinet. If you mod the box with an air port then you have to not only get the port the optimal size for the speaker and the volume inside the cabinet but also the length it goes inside the cabinet correct for the best sound. The other problem with porting is you typically lose some of the low end so its less Bassy. I would say, in this application , if money is not a huge issue. replace the speakers with a higher s/n ratio. Then turn the bass down on the stock setup on the head unit and add in a powered sub in the rear , the unit may have a sub line level input on the back of the unit that's not being used. Get all the bass from that , let the mids and highs come from the surround speakers. If you want to use the speakers that came in the vehicle , still add a box , but you can get inline capacitors that you can attach to the positive side with some soldering that will act as a passive EQ and block the lower frequencies , say below 1 k hertz and then you never risk over excursion. There is calculators online to figure this out based off the ohms of the speaker.

    • @rheadog9546
      @rheadog9546 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A much easier way to explain is the car manufactures try to get the most as cheaply as they can. Honestly it's surprising how nice they can make junk speakers and electronics sound sometimes. Anything stock can be upgraded to sound far better. This has been the case for a long time/always. Even tho cars do sound far better than in the past, aftermarket sound is ALWAYS a vast improvement if you spend a little money and buy quality components. This Kicker amp is far from the best amp on the market. Just changing the speakers would help even more than the amp honestly. Doing both is the right way to tackle this project.

      I have been thinking about this because I am interested in a bronco, and my recommendation would be to choose a speaker brand that offers more of a composite type cone with a rubber surround. This will ensure it’s more of a “weather proof” type speaker. You mentioned focal, their k2 might be a good option.

    Doesn't the fact that you have custom EQ adjustments in the deck defeat the purpose of DSP balancing all of the sounds?

      sound is very subjective. If you are use to listening to stock stereos in cars and have never upgraded, The Bronco B&O could sound nice to you. If you had experience installing high end car audio into your cars as a kid in the 90's like me. You are spoiled and almost any stock stereo system sounds trashy especially and not limited to the bass. Many people are also tone deaf and they don't know it, because that's all they know and they have never been tested. Everyone doesn't hear the same. In the end, these people are not wrong. My Girlfriends Bronco with the huge screen and fancy B&O stereo sounds horrible compared to my stock mustang and my stock F-350 even. The Bronco sound was very disappointing after waiting a year and a half to get it.
